Outstanding, from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Each and every member of the team was so happy to help. The young chef that was on was excellent, nothing was too much trouble he was so chatty along with the staff who was supporting the tables to the lady who spent time to explain what they have over Christmas period Defo toy be a regular here now Outstanding staff and food is just delicious

Really good food at good prices. Carvery veggies were especially good, roast potatoes were crispy on outside and buttery smooth inside. Sides were excellent as well especially the sweet potato fries. Server was prompt and friendly thank you Kathy. Excellent value for money, would recommend.

A great roast from the carvery Friendly staff and close to M1. Much nicer than services. Was a bit Quiet but it was Fireworks night

Called here as we stayed at the premiere inn nearby. It was very quiet ( Monday eve ) but the staff were very friendly and the food, whilst being pub grub was lovely. Barbecued chicken wings were really nice and I had the lasagne with the crispiest chips I've ever eaten. I would recommend.

Comfortable pub with excellent carvery. Meals on offer at the venue are lovely and good value. We happened to go here on a quiz night which was good fun.

We went for sunday dinner carvery and we were delighted with the place and food. Relly nice warm atmosphere and delicious food served. We all enjoyed the day ☺️ Just get rid of the 🐝 from inside the pub as my daughter is scared of them when flying around while eating

We had visited the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and wanted a dog friendly pub for lunch. The Swan and Cygnet came up very dog friendly hence our choice. Reviews also mentioned a very good carvery. We weren’t disappointed! We were shown to our pre booked seats and opted for the Carvery as per the reviews and seeing for ourselves what was on offer. It was exceptional with excellent quality meats and veg too. The chef serving was very professional, happy and good at explaining the options. The only downside was we hit the pub at the busiest time and the queue was quite long! (A positive in its own right!). It soon cleared and all was well. All in all an excellent experience and we left very full !

Food great, table service great but the wait at the bar was unacceptable

We always get good service although sometimes there doesn't seem to be enough staff and need to wait for someone to appear at the bar to serve. Wendy is always pleasant, smiley and helpful.

Really nice pub near the lake, so perfect pit stop. The only criticism is that they offer kids eat for a £1 but you have to ask for it at the bar. If you go through the app you cant add the discount so people will miss out

First time at the swan and cygnet and the carvery was one of the best we ve ever had. Really fresh and piping hot. Kids food was really good too and the service by Wendy was friendly and helpful. She really made a fuss of our children and even gave my son some Halloween sweets.

Had hunters chicken .....dry Bacon on top sacrificed. Other 2 dishes at our table were over done. Be a while before we return. Staff confessed no toilet roll in building all week.. why didn't someone go to asda one mile away and buy some. Not acceptable.

Very sorry but the vegetable Thai curry was far too hot, it needed mango chutney and yogurt and raita to calm it down. Very disappointed 😔

Had to wait 50 mins for food to arrive, All food was dry and over cooked. Staff never came to checked everything was ok. Shame as we were all starving. We won’t be in a rush to come back. Table 32 5:30pm 24/10

Best carvery we have had for years. Well done.

Okay but not so much choice from the carvery. The carver was doing a great job but not getting much support so she had to keep going into the kitchen to fetch things which caused delays and a que.

We brought our dog in for a couple of drinks and some food. The staff were really friendly and helpful. It wasn’t too busy and the music was really chilled. Our dog loved the beef burger we bought her from the ‘doggy menu’ ☺️

Just had 8oz sirloin steak and 4oz of it was fat and grizzle. Fries were overcooked. Mushrooms tasteless. I did not like the peas. Onion rings and pepper sauce were OKish. Unfortunately got to go again next week but won't be ordering that again. Told the 2 staff and one said she'd have a word with catering about the steak. Not worth the £40 paid. See photo

Came in with my partner he ordered nachos with Donna meet it was delicious 🤤 front of house staff were welcoming and a delight to talk to and I have to thank the chef lucy for making our weird combination will definitely be coming back for more visits

Great music, lovely food prepared by Lucy, was served drinks by Ollie and had a nice chat as well, everyone is very welcoming and friendly, especially jay, who showed me his own recommendations as well as the nicest spots to go to round Wakefield, think I’ve made a few friends here and would definitely recommend coming in on weekends for lunch

Bog standard pub grub. The place is tired, run down and pretty filthy. Staff all seem a bit like they don't want to be there too 😕

It was very quiet when we went, no one at the bar, literally. We wait quite a while for someone to come out and serve. We had planned on eating there, but nothing on the menu was appealing, especially for the price.

Pub is quiet 65 minits wait for cold gammon burnt pineapple and burnt cheesy garlic bread wont be calling hear again

Place is convenient and Doggie friendly. They cater very well for a party. The food however is very average. It is not expensive but mediocre. The roast dinners looked very good value. Selection of beers was very limited my choice was “off”. Not very much choice for veggies or gluten free- didn’t see any.

It's honestly the worst carvery I have ever had .glad I didn't size up. The meat was very chewy the mash was dry the roast potatoes where cold .won't visit again

Went for breakfast ok. But would recommend toby carvery down road all you can eat breakfast £4.50

Baked potato didnt have black bits removed , ended up leaving . that tomato soup was nice though , and staff were quite nice . Prices are a lot more expensive down here for exact same food then it is where i live in tyne and wear which is ridiculous.

Been several times and cant really fault it. Great carvery. Puddings to die for. Try the ice cream sundae. Must just mention Wendy and Alex who gave exceptional and friendly service. Wonderful atmosphere. Clean and bright surroundings What's not to like?

A very warm welcome by Josh on arrival, he was very informative and answered all our queries, we were taken to our table, as oldies tried to use the table QR code but was confused in came Ruby and explained everything to us , a very pleasant young lady. Will be back again another day.

What drew me here was that they serve carvery and also that my dog can be with me. Food is great. Service is too. Also, I ordered a Sundae for dessert and was offered a second spoon in case I was sharing it. That for me was a wonderful touch. (What does sharing mean) haha. Well worth a visit.

Walked in and just new it was going to be brilliant, was served by Alex on the bar, Kelly was really nice, making sure everyone Felt welcome, ruby was lovely as well served food, asked if I needed anything, was a lovely experience. Attentive service and magical food, no complaints from me :)

Service was fairly prompt. Due to an error on the website menu, they didn't have the drink I ordered but allowed me to choose something similar and without paying up the difference.

Great experience today at the Swan and cygnet, Wendy was really friendly and made us feel welcome, the food was of good quality and fairly priced, my only criticism of the establishment was the gents toilets were smelly, and the urinals were leaking.

When food arrived at the table, had to be replaced as cold. Had to ask for cutlery to eat meal with and a giant (dog sized) rats running around outside (front door propped open and second door doesn’t close properly - wouldn’t be surprised if rats didn’t get in! Also, noticed what I thought was rust on the pipework below men’s urinals…..until I realised it was plastic piping! 🤮

Food good but 1st choice unavailable and neither was cake.

Wendy was a great waitress and bar staff. We had a nice meal though the kebab chicken could have been much better in amount and quality.

Been lunch time today for a carvery. The roast beef was lovely as was the roast potatoes and a nice pint of San Miguel. Staff were friendly as well

Lovely meal with family. Often go there as is handy for all of us. Used our meerkat app and the staff were very helpful, especially Loue , who helped us sort out the meal deals and the bill! Would recommend this pub- shame it was so quiet. Will be back soon !

Pub atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming staff particularly Wendy cannot do enough for you and even when busy she has a smile and very approachable plus food excellent plenty if parking and a nice garden cannot ask for any more.

Absolutely lovely, cant fault it, was in today staff friendly helpful and informative regarding allergy info, clean tidy , the burgers are amazing , came in on sunday and although busier it didnt take away the good standard of food and service.. carvery was the best ever . The kids chalk board area a big hit aswell will definatly be back at the weekend.

Typical chain pub, not busy, but still had to wait at the bar as staff kept wandering off. Sat outside in the pub garden, which seems to have an infestation of rats running in and out of the shrubs.

Love this place! The new landlady is lovely. 10/10 I definately recommend!

Arrived 28th,July with friends plus my son had food from the menu sat outside in the gorgeous sunshine..a drunk guy approached us giving abuse when reported to staff I was told he's a known person..I found this uncomfortable disturbing..won't eat there again horrible experience

28 July 24 came for nice expectation meal with friends and fiance took ages to come food veggie option not nice got my money back also whilst there a drunk guy approached us giving us abuse and faulse accusations and the staff said he is known here which is not good we wont be back any time soon

Absolutely amazing pub, food is always delicious and Wendy always has a friendly smile.

We got a carvery and there wash two hairs found in it, then when one person was still eating someone came and collected the plate while the other person was still eating I find this incredibly rude as working hospitality myself i know how rude this it to customers

Wendy was a brilliant hostess. She looked after us from start to finish. Our dog, Buddy also enjoyed the attention and care he received. Thank you, Wendy!

Very average food ,not worth the money at all

I sat outside on table 120 alone and ordered mocha it took more than 20 minutes and no drink so I had to go in and ask at the bar an older lady was chatting to customers already sat down just passing the day? I told her I had been waiting for a mocha and she raises her hand on the bar and my order sheet was under it? She then said this has just come in which I could not prove but there was no reason for the delay tbh. I asked as I had to go back to the office nearby could I have a take out? No she said and went and started doing the mocha. I said I would wait inside. She made the drink then walked past me? And went out into the garden looking for my table so I had to hurry after her to get the drink it was such bad service re training needed. I hardly had any time to drink it with the time I had left. Very dissatisfied
