The best restaurants in Scarborough Yorkshire and The Humber

Approaching the window, you will enjoy the most exquisite and flavoursome of all ice creams. I have never tasted such a treat as good as this (and my vampyric palette is limited mostly to A+positive and similar claret beverages), coupled with the most personal and friendly service you will ever receive. Mr Trillo and his wonderful associates welcome all with open arms (especially those of a Gothic and Vampyric disposition). There are a number of locations and vehicles to enjoy the delights of Trillo's ice cream, so fear not, you are never far away from delight. My favourite being when the ice cream Land Rover parks very close to my crypt outside Whitby Abbey. Spectacular views will reward the senses, combined with ice-cream giving you a much needed treat for climbing the 199 steps. On a whim we went here on our last morning in Scarborough after having some less than disappointing breakfast elsewhere. Wish we'd gone here on our first morning as we would have been back each morning! Staff were friendly and welcoming, coffee (large latte) was lovely and cooked breakfast was spot on. Prices weren't much more than a wetherspoons breakfast but at a much higher quality. Will definitely return on our next scarborough trip.

Catterick shop….The food was cold and the chips very dry. The quantity was disgusting, not enough to feed a child considering the price. First time we have bought from there and won’t be going back.

You have to be a owner to go in the cobbler

We are staying in Goathland at a different hotel but this was the only place we could find offering a Sunday Roast is the evening menu. After a days walking a Roast was definitely necessary, if not essential. Walked in and thought we had entered a low cost carvery. First looks and all that. But the roast was simply superb. Extra gravy and veg were delivered without need big to ask. The condiments were also provided within a minute of being requested. So top food and top service and we were delighted. Will come back as the menu offered other great dishes and they only specials to boot.

We visited whilst on a family holiday in Whitby and we loved it so much that we ended up visiting every day of our trip! The coffee is excellent, the staff are accommodating and the vibe is lovely. Our kids loved the babychinos and hot chocolates and we loved the coffee! This is such a lovely and high class cafe and we have definitely found a new favourite!

We’ve been going to Scarborough as a family of 10 for a number of years and on at least one night of the week treat ourselves to fish and chips. As we always stay in the North Bay Area we’ve usually joined the queue at the chip shop named after the area…until last week when we discovered the Penny Black Chippy…it was a revelation! Lovely friendly owners, everything cooked to order, wonderful fresh fish, delicious batter, perfectly cooked chips…and the best mushy peas I’ve had in years. We went twice and this will now be our chip shop of choice in the future. Blummin’ lovely!

Who needs to go abroad when you can sit outside at this little gem, absolutely fantastic when the sun is out shut your eyes and you could be anywhere, landlady has a brilliant sense of humour and looked after 10 of us brilliantly will be back again…..

Noone was in the cafe when we came in. Yet we arrived to dirty tables. We took a seat on a clean table and looked through the menu which offers some great choices. We ordered 2 jacket potatoes with chilli and a chorizo and mozzarella bagel. Meals came with fresh salad and the best coleslaw I've ever eaten! You have to order at the counter. Which was ok. And the lady was very friendly. The only downside was that despite on ourselves and one other lady being in the cafe. Noone checked our food was ok or came to clear plates and check how everything was. The later option would have been better for this kind of cafe. But just felt like we were left with dirty plates. Staff were friendly. Just need to make more of an appearance. But thank you for some amazing food.

The view restaurant @ the Delmont hotel, a hidden jem that must be visited. Booked for the gala new years eve dinner, and wow. The best food in any restaurant that i have ever tasted. Each course was perfection and served by excellent friendly waitress,s where nothing was too much trouble. A must try restaurant, you won,t be disappointed.

My son had crepes with ice cream, Nutella and bueno pieces and said it was delicious. Was £7.50 for a pancake but plenty was on it. They also do waffles and various other desserts. This is a stall so nowhere to sit in but benches near to sit and watch the sea.

This was our second visit as it was so fantastic back in February. It was just as amazing. We loved every dish. Absolutely fabulous and lovely service again. Nothing else to say just splendid and everyone who loves fish should treat themselves!

I don’t know why it took me so long to try this cafe out but they serve the best coffee! I have been in a self catering apartment all week so will be coming here next year for breakfast. The owners are polite and chatty. Also noticed dogs were allowed in so added bonus as an animal lover.
