San Marco Ristorante in Scarborough

We recently ate here for the first meal during a weekend away as a group of three couples. The food was delicious, the service was excellent ( and very witty), and all in all it set the tone for a fabulous weekend spent in Filey. I am always a little reluctant to share how fabulous Filey is with you all - because I don’t want it to become too busy ………

Visited for early bird on a Friday evening. Warm welcome, very friendly. We all had pizzas and they were perfect. Quite quiet but can see it being busier in the summer months. Definitely recommend

We've been to Filey many times and been to all the other restaurants in Filey but never managed to get a table here. Booked well ahead this time, six adults. Although it was packed with families we had a table near the bar and didn't feel surrounded by children. The service was spot on, very pleasant and friendly. Not long to wait. All of us like Italian food and there are some things we try everywhere and are a benchmark of the standard of the rest of the food such as the Bruchetta . It was excellent, lots of delicious topping and a sprinkling of salad bits. I had my favourite dish linguine with prawns. It also had zucchini and scallops and was delicious. Others had various pasta dishes and risotto. Several people had puddings which were generous portions.

Fab food. Great atmosphere. Very popular, so well worth booking in advance.

Perfect way to start a new years eve.

Always welcoming and friendly. Good service and value. An annual stop on our new year jaunt.

Service and food excellent as always

The food is fantastic. The service and front of house is poor. We were a five, squeezed onto a table for 4. Another family of 3 were squeezed onto a table of 2. I only got one drink as the waitress never came back to check on us or take another order in the 2 hours. Nor did anyone come to ask us if everything was alright with the food (luckily the food is great). The waitress spent more time chatting to her friends at a other table rather than attenting to other diners. Also, when offering specials, it's good practice to let diners know what's available before they order, then they won't waste time deliberating something they can't have. So to summarise, go for the food, not the service. Sorry San Marco, your chef carries you at this restaurant, just pray they don't leave like your customers will one day.

Amazing food rubbish service cheap wine gave us the special menu but no special and no catch of the day

There were four of us and we all enjoyed our food. The desserts and drinks were quite expensive though

Myself and my partner stumbled across this little hidden gem tonight and will 100% return every thing we ate was absolutely perfect couldn’t have been tastier. Excellent service and very attentive

Went for my 8yr old granddaughters 8th birthday treat. Lovely service, and the risotto was the best I've had in a long time. The kids loved their pizzas too. Will definitely be back

Don’t bother , service was pathetic , 60 mins to get a drink and so on. We were told to preorder which we did as we were a party of 11. Food was okay , I wouldn’t say anything special but okay , when it came !! Over 30 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink and then at least 30 more before everyone had a drink , trying to order a second drink was impossible One of the team asked for some English mustard , they brought it in the jar which had obviously been used by someone else as there were remnants of food in it ! ! Food got served , no one asked if okay or if we wanted Parmesan, pepper etc , it’s was a total joke and totally spoilt our night , as my friend said on leaving ,” the flies in there were more attentive than the staff “ and there were lots ! … of flies. We’ve used SM for years but I think that’s it now I am afraid , service is now ZERO

Lovely early evening meal for my granddaughters birthday, she was thrilled with the Happy Birthday song and surprise ice cream with sprinkles and candle. Food great too.

Well used pizza restaurant in central Filey. The Calzone looked promising but failed to deliver, tailing off into a watery tasteless disappointment. Not bad, but could have been better.

We went for my birthday and wedding anniversary, which are the same day and on the night we went. At the time of booking I mentioned we were celebrating these.The lady on the phone told me she would set the table nice for us. The table was not set. We had starters which were just warm and then the main meal. Well what can I say about the lasagna. This was a bowl of mince meat with a quarter of a sheet of lasagna that look liked it been dropped and scraped back in. Again hardly warm. At no point did any one pop back to see if the meals were going well or if we wanted another drink. We had to keep getting their attention. We had to ask for clean cutlery after our starters. The whole experience from start to finish was appalling. My Daughter paid the bill whilst I went to the toilet as a surprise for myself and my Husband. The toilets were so dirty. When I asked to speak with the manager they were very dismissive. No responsibility was taken on their part for this appalling food and service. They spoilt our celebration.

Had vegan calzone that looked like desperate Dan's pie 😁 all staff very friendly and accommodating, beautiful food, wine and atmosphere, will certainly be back, thank you for a lovely evening xxx

I felt warmly welcomed as the I told the waitress table for one please . She sat me at a nice quiet table and brought me menus . The happy hour was on so I was able to get a marinara pizza for £9.50 inc ( £1 extra) seafood the choices of pasta pizzas was lovely . A pint of moretti and my pizza came out which was large ! Divine thin crisp Italian base and loaded with seafood , asked would I like Parmesan black pepper etc ..I asked for Parmesan and was brought out the fridge my own flip lid pot of it which thrilled me ! Best pizza I’ve ever had and excellent service and ambiance . Highly recommend

We were recommended this restaurant. The staff are very friendly and gave us a table which was quite and had lots of space. The food was amazing so much choice .

Booked the restaurant due to the limited eateries that Filey boasts. My partner discussed the vegan options available for her and was reassured that options would be available. On arrival we were greeted by some very nice staff. I had the special garlic bread and the carbonara. I am sorry to say the garlic bread was greasey beyond belief and the carbonara was bland and tasteless, I have had far better from the microwave. My wifes vegan option pizza was topped with uncooked onions, mushrooms and sweetcorn, no sign of herbs, spinach, olives etc. She couldn't have fries due to them being cooked in the same oil as the fish, beware veggies. In summary I am sure no Italian's would put their names to this standard of cuisine and can only assume the lack of competition in this lovely coastal Town is responsible for the standard of food on offer.

Disappointed that, once again, it was a disappointing experience. No real warmth when arrived (table was reserved), food was ok, but nothing to stimulate the palate. Music was intrusive making conversation difficult. 1st visit was OK, 2nd was a shocker because of the very high volume of the music, tried a 3rd time, but never again.

Not as many veggie options as I would have liked but the asparagus risotto was delicious. Other meals were equally as good , service was excellent and though it's not particularly cheap it's worth every penny. Best to book especially at busy early evening. If you're in Filey make sure you go if you like Italian food.

The food wasn’t good, masquerading as Italian but tasting like below average English cafe food. The Rissoto reminded me of Ambrosia creamed rice for example. On entering the staff were not friendly, benito! and didn’t seem to care whether we enjoyed the food or not.

Had a great time at San Marcos last night (25th Aug). Booked 2 weeks prior to ensure a table. Three of us all had different meals and all were hot, tasty and delicious. Shall definitely return.

Took my family for an evening meal, shown to a table ,positioned very squashed next to kitchen and looking onto stacked chairs and cleaning equipment. Friendly enough staff . Requested table change and they obliged very quickly. Food ordered, came extremely quickly - food for four people in less than ten minutes !! Calazone was adequate as was the baked bolegnese, the two chicken,mushroom pasta dishes were awful !! Very very bland ,frozen chicken strips used. Clearly bought in frozen desserts ,nothing genuinely Italian about the cuisine . Never offered breads ,oils,olives...felt extremely rushed getting us in and out. Not a good dining experience. Beware bannister leading to door to toilet, very badly in need of maintenance. Filthy dirty toilet ,whole place needs a good clean and decorating Nothing done since last visited 15years ago sadly ,looks very sad . A very rude chef but polite waiting staff and front of house. Will definitely not be returning.

Food and service was excellent, infact it was so good we ate there twice in the same week.

We had booked in advance, as we were told that it gets very busy. Glad we did as they were turning people away as it was busy. We received a very warm welcome from very attentive staff. The food was delicious, piping hot well presented. You could tell that the vegetables were fresh and not frozen, and that it had all a been freshly prepared. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Fantastic quality of food and good value for money. Good atmosphere too with sociable hosts. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal there. I would advice booking well in advance (a few days at least during holiday season) as it is a popular spot and they were turning people away on the door.

Nice Italian menu, friendly staff , efficient service , but white wine arrived warm, we were given an ice bucket but too late. We were pestered constantly while eating with flies, an insect repeller needs to be added as others eating had same problem.

Friend's of my Sister and Brother-in-Law (they are from Cornwall, us from Bradford), who live in Filey, booked San Marco for eight of us to get together. We had a lovely welcome from who I think was the owner and were seated in the window table. The music was far too loud, you could not hear yourself think! My husband and I were right near the speaker, so do not think it was as noticed by anyone else in our party! The food we had was nice, although my seafood calzone had a wee bit of a soggy base, but really tasty! My sister-in-law had the garlic mushroom as a starter and she did not think they were very good. I tasted one and so glad that I had not ordered them, not very good! I think if we went again to Filey, we would look for something better.

Stayed in Filey and found this restaurant on our first night. They managed to fit us in without a booking, no questions asked. Very friendly and helpful staff. Lot of dishes with local fish and shellfish, specials menu was great. The garlic bread we ordered was to die for, swimming in garlic butter. Didn't worry about the diet!! We loved it, and ate there again later in the week. Certainly worth try if you are in Filey.

I dined here tonight and it lovely! Very well looked after as a single diner (ie, didn't get shoved in a corner or next to the toilets!), the food was beautiful. I had a pasta dish from the specials board followed by an amaretto tiramisu which was DIVINE. finished off with a cappuccino, and was very happy that it passed my foam test (ex barista here!) And then was given a complimentary shot of limoncello :) If im in filey again i will definitely revisit, and recommend 👌

Ordered a chicken and sweetcorn pizza, it was so bland I had to put a sprinkle of salt on it which I've never done. The lady next to us was eating some sort of pasta dish and was struggling. Not the best by any stretch.

My partner and I had a table booked for 5pm. I thought this might be too early but it was Happy Hour and very popular so I was glad to have booked. We had a lovely little table for two, and the staff were very kind and helpful in suggesting dishes. Starters were absolutely lush, the best scallops my partner has tasted he said. Three courses and drinks came to under £60 due to Happy Hour. Really great quality and tasty food. Will definitely be back.

Best place to eat out in Filey in my opinion

I have eaten here many times over the last year having moved to Filey, it may not look like a top restaurant from the outside but the food is absolutely divine and top restaurant quality, and you should definitely give it a try . The Pollo Crème is amazing and smothered in a rich creamy mushroom sauce which is mouth watering and the portions are fantastic. The calzone pizza is loaded with toppings and dripping in a beautiful tomato sauce, all the food I’ve tried has been stunning. The ladies there who serve are so friendly and are always extremely polite, helpful, friendly and ready for a natter. This has become one of our regular haunts and I can highly recommend it. Bland food, shocking service the waitress didn't want to be there. The cutlery was dirty and the prices didn't go with the food, I paid £78 for 2 of us and if they'd charged us £18 I would of still thought they were over charging us. Safe to say I won't be going back
