We quite often stop here when passing through Danby. Nice little place with a friendly staff and good food at fair prices.
It's good to be able to buy a loaf or some eggs while getting a light meal. I had a bacon butty, very good bacon I thought.
In spite of it being a January lunchtime, trade was fairly brisk with both local business and passing customers.
Fabulous atmosphere big shout out to jackie debs and sarah who were amazing hosts, nothing was too much trouble and great knowledge of the surrounding area
Opening times laughable in the height of the season. At 945am still not ready to serve though they are supposed to open at 9. Stood at the counter for 5 mins and was deliberately ignored by two staff gossiping. Rather tarnished our view of Filey. Great though that the owners don't need the business.
We have been frequent visitors to Scarborough over the years, but this was the first time we had been to this lovely cafe. We visited twice during our stay, the first time choosing the meat pie and the second time the roast beef. The food was beautifully cooked, and came with proper potatoes and proper northern English vegetables! Just like our mothers used to make - which may not be to everyone's taste but certainly was to ours! The trifle and bread and butter pudding were perfect, and so was the proper northern English tea we finished off with. We would highly recommend this cafe to anyone who loves a proper northern English meal - did I use those words before!? The establishment is family-run and the people are some of the friendliest we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We will certainly be going back again.
Me encanta.
Plaxton Court Restaurant is open to non Residents for lunch between 12.30pm and 1.30pm. My wife and I eat at the restaurant most days. If you wish to dine on Sundays booking a table is strongly recommended as it always very busy. There is always a choice including vegetarian and dietary requirements. All food is fresh cooked and daily specials. Free car parking, staff friendly you will not be disappointed. Cost of meals not wallet busting and excellent value. Be prepared to be surprised. Small meals are available if required.
This pub is a little gem, made me and my partner very welcome the locals were lovely too, defintley coming back. Our staffy Rico got loads of cuddles, treats and water. He loved all the intention he got. The best pub in Hummanby.
Having just watched Bargain Brits by the sea and specifically the ice cream parlour, we had to visit Alzonis and sample the wares. We had the mango and passion fruit twist and strawberry twist. Delicious, huge and great value. Plus the girls serving at the counter are lovely. Sat at the tables outside in the sun and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The staff are friendly and welcoming. All the food was freshly prepared and tasty.
The choice of cakes made our decision difficult as they all looked so good.
My husband and his mum and myself went to Spencers for lunch yesterday and came away disappointed.
The husband has an allergy to mayo and it seemed like a real struggle to order something without but eventually agreed on a ham sandwich. The other orders were a cheese and ham toasted sandwich and a chilli chicken panini.
After what seemed like ages I asked about our food and was told they had ran out of chicken so they were cooking it fresh. If would have really helped if they had told us this and we could have either changed our order or understood why we were waiting so long.
When the food arrived, the presentation was good but the ham sandwich was very dry and the cheese and have toasted sandwich was a panini. The chilli chicken was nice.
We didn't say anything at this point because we felt it would fall on deaf ears.
I always try and use small independent businesses when I'm out and about but in this case it wasn't the best choice.
This cafe could be a lovely with a few tweaks and better staff knowledge of the menu and communication.
This was the mother in laws second visit and she lives in Scarborough and won't be returning any time soon.
Please take this review as constructive feedback.
We decided to stop at Brads for dinner as we could eat in. Ended up being glad we did as it was quite possibly the best fish and chips we have had at Scarborough! Non greasy, piping hot and beautiful chips. Clean, pleasant staff and all round a nice place. Would recommend!
My wife & I walked from Ravenscar to Robin Hoods Bay along the cinder trail & visited the cafe here for some refreshments. We were warmly welcomed on arrival by the staff & placed our order of 2 coffees & 2 pieces of cake. These were quickly delivered.
The coffee was very good but the scone was a bit claggy & not the best scone that I have eaten. I wouldn't order a scone again. On leaving we ordered an ice cream each & they were delicious. We didn't have time to visit the exhibition so left that for another time. The place was clean & tidy although the sight of young children putting their dirty shoes on the tables was off putting!
