Spencers Bistro in Scarborough

My husband and his mum and myself went to Spencers for lunch yesterday and came away disappointed. The husband has an allergy to mayo and it seemed like a real struggle to order something without but eventually agreed on a ham sandwich. The other orders were a cheese and ham toasted sandwich and a chilli chicken panini. After what seemed like ages I asked about our food and was told they had ran out of chicken so they were cooking it fresh. If would have really helped if they had told us this and we could have either changed our order or understood why we were waiting so long. When the food arrived, the presentation was good but the ham sandwich was very dry and the cheese and have toasted sandwich was a panini. The chilli chicken was nice. We didn't say anything at this point because we felt it would fall on deaf ears. I always try and use small independent businesses when I'm out and about but in this case it wasn't the best choice. This cafe could be a lovely with a few tweaks and better staff knowledge of the menu and communication. This was the mother in laws second visit and she lives in Scarborough and won't be returning any time soon. Please take this review as constructive feedback.

Lovely little cafe off the beaten track near TK Maxx. Stopped for a quick bite to eat, Paninis and sandwiches were lovely. Coffee great. Prices were low and very clean and tidy. Wi-Fi was good too if you have children with iPads!

Great service and lovely food, very reasonably priced. Baked potato was lovely and the salad is lush. Panini & toastie very tasty. Lots of amazing cakes too. Dog friendly was a bonus.

Always visit Spencer’s when I’m Scarborough. The staff are really friendly and are continually busy cleaning tables and serving. The food is excellent, and extremely good value- you never leave hungry.

Stopped for some lunch whilst shopping in town. Ordered a jacket potato with chilli and cheese, the portion was really generous and very reasonably priced. There was lots of choice on the menu. Just after I ordered it got quite busy with holiday-makers coming in, but that didn't affect how long it took for my food to come out and I didn't have to wait long at all. Staff were very friendly and the whole place was very clean. Looked like there were some nice cakes on the main counter, only reason I didn't order one was because I was too full from my jacket potato! Would definitely recommend.

Great find in Scarborough. Opposite TKMAX. Lovely food, dog friendly and great service. Would definitely recommend. Snacks, breakfast, dinner and afternoon teas. All at great prices too.
