Door staff turning people away when the bar is empty this is the 2nd time on my visits to Whiby this has happened he said the bar was full and there was no one in as our friends were inside waiting for us ???

We’ve been to Macy browns a few times over the past few years. Sometimes days on the trot whilst up in Whitby for a seaside break. The Service and Food is always incredible and they allow friendly dogs out on the balcony. We came again the other day and was a bit unsure due to the rain. Soon as we arrived we was welcomed in and shown to our seats outside. They opened up the canopy for us, wipes down our seats. Turned on the heating and brought my fella a cushion for his tush. Us being the only insanse people to sit outside in the cold and rain. (100% our choice because of the dogs) they kept coming outside to check on us. Kept the cocktails flowing and had a laugh and a joke with us. The staff were amazing and we didn’t feel isolated one bit. The food was hot when served and the drinks were delicious and plenty to choose from. We had such a lovely night at Macy’s and when we drive 3 hours to Whitby we always can’t wait to go back for dinner/breakfast again. Amazing place to go to and the staff are fantastic! We will definitely see you again soon 😊

We didn't know what to expect as it was a random visit at the end of a busy day. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent.

Cute place with nice decor. The food was very good we enjoyed everything. Burgers and the loaded cheesy fries are the best I've ever had! I wasn't expecting it to be that good. The atmosphere is good. The male waiters are a bit serious and not very chatty. Female waiters friendly.

When we turned up to get a drink it was closed. Text the number on the website and didn't get a reply until 4 days later. By which point we had gone gome, however we were advised that they close on Mondays and Tuesdays, which was posted on Facebook. I don't have facebook anymore and many others may not have it, so how would we have known. Maybe a new sign up outside on the gates up to the bar would be a good idea for those who don't have social media. As Google showed open every day. Once we did finally visit, the cocktails were awesome , food was good, felt it was pricey but as a treat it was fine. I couldn't afford that all the time. A nice balcony however thr weather was a little wet so sat indoors which was beautiful

We ate at Macy Brown's twice. When staying in Whitby for one week. The food was delicious and staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended you visit for food and drinks.

We were told by a work colleague about this place, arrived on our wedding anniversary evening, had a couple of cocktails each then ordered a seafood platter between the 2 of us. Food was beautiful, staff were extremely friendly and service was brilliant! We sat outside also on the veranda with heaters. Would highly recommend

All the time coming to whitby and we have never been in here. We was on our last night so called in as the door security escorted us upstairs to the waiting staff and the to our table in this upmarket venue. We started off just going for a drink but then decided to eat, we shared small plates of nachos at £6, Parmo chicken & cheese bites at £6.50, halloumi fries at £6.50 and hummus at £4.50 washed down with a bottle of Pinot Grigio at £18.95. They add a service charge of 10% which can be removed but it is all waiter- waitress service to your table and the food was all delicious.

Terrible experience, girl who served us was miserable, didn't smile or make eye contact, misplaced our food order wich we waited almost an hr for so didn't get as our parking was running out. Senior staff member was lovely, apologised, but no apology from the girl/server who made the mistake and even smirked as we left. Disgraceful as prices wernt cheap, Won't be coming back again!

This restaurant/bar is beautiful. The food is gorgeous.the price is high but worth it for a treat. Saturday is very busy

We popped in for a quick drink, got given a seat on the outside balcony which was nice, I had a cocktail which was lovely, table service so no queuing at the bar, didn’t have food but would try it next time as it looked good.

Lovely decoration, great if meat eater, asked for veggie sausage and nearly broke my teeth on them 🤣🤣. More expensive that any other breakfast we had during our stay too. One waitress was quite rude and offish with us so won't be going back in a hurry.

Spotted this place from the road on a walkabout for food, went upstairs to be met at the door by would I would describe as a bouncer/floor manager, its hard to tell, left us with a sense of unease, we were given option of outside or in, chose outside but it proved to be a bit cramped so we moved back inside. We ordered drinks and food after about ten minutes, the server had such an unintrested manner along with all the other staff, no connection. Setting was nice inside but very loud with customers and children shouting over each other, most of the people in there looked liked they had had too many cocktails and beer, which at their prices would suggest the locals are minted. The food took ages to come and was not that special after the wait, we left about a third of it as it all tasted like it was out of a jar, even the people sat next to us commented how long we had to wait. We finished what we could manage and called it a day, the emotionless staff took payment and had sneeked in a 10% service charge which they didnt mention at any point and I thought after this was a good way of getting a tip for dull service. This place is struggling to decide if it is a cocktail lounge or a resturant, it is a bit too pokey to be both in my opinion. Im sure a lot of the locals love it here but perhaps they dont have many options to chose from. I like to tip well for great service and great food but I will give you! a tip, walk on by and try somewhere else.

Visited several times during our short trip to Whitby- the delicious cocktails kept drawing us back! The food is lovely too, my burger was great and the chips were lovely. The cocktails were made fresh by the talented bar staff and the servers were extremely attentive, chatty and friendly. The decor is gorgeous and it really felt like a treat to be there.

We came here after seeing it recommended online. It has a lovely atmosphere with a ‘trendy vibe’. The food menu isn’t anything particularly special but there should be at least something for everyone. We decided on tapas to share and it didn’t disappoint. The calamari was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The loaded fries were excellent. We had a couple of drinks to go with our food and all reasonably priced.

My first time here with my mum. The service was fabulous and the doorman was very kind and friendly. Showed me to our table. Will be back on Monday, but for lunch.

Would just like to say thank you. I arrived waiting for my daughter. Unfortunately she was delayed. The staff were really kind and showed her to the table. This was really appreciated. My daughter is autistic. The door staff where fantastic. When she arrived we had cocktails they were out of this world. Thanks to everyone the service was amazing

Greatest most well made, beautiful and professional cocktails EVER !! The bartender was meticulous and spectacular to watch “invent” each cocktail he made.. order just to watch them being made.

0 stars for anything, wouldn’t let us in due to diabetic friend being drowsy needing to sort his levels out. Not friendly at all and aggressive. Discrimination at its finest! Everything was explained to staff and no sympathy at all!

Not accessible but not many places in Whitby are! Once we carried the pushchair upstairs it was worth it. Great drinks, amazing staff who made our little boy a mocktail! The tartare outside is great and there’s shelter too if it rains. Recommend 😊

We ordered 2 more drinks and after that we paid for but after another 2 rounds which we paid gain caah they awanted payment for and we had already paid in cash but forced to pay again.

This is our 3rd year visiting Macy Brown's and it gets better every year! Lovely food, amazing cocktails and fantastic service! Natasha (waitress) is friendly, welcoming and efficient! Second time visiting here and yet again wasn’t disappointed. The cocktails were lush and the waitresses so a-tentative. I love how much attention to detail is put into the decor as well as the cocktails. We had the chocolate fudge cake after being let down...

Lovely cocktails, four drinks just over £40

We called in after seeing a few reviews of cocktails and we were disappointed. A lot of choices which were made well. Helpful and attentive staff. We went mid-week so can’t say how much busier it’d be at the weekends but we enjoyed it.

Always an essential visit. V.nice spot with balcony view of harbour. Cocktails top notch. Attentive table service. Beware plenty of steep steps to access so hold tight to the handrail on egress!

Lovely spot overlooking the harbour. Great food and I was so happy to find a place I could enjoy a Freddo Cappuccino made by Greeks famous for their hospitality. We enjoyed morning coffees, breakfast and in the evening lovely Mojito's (for me) and a Raspberry Zombie and Long Island Ice Tea for my girlfriend. I'd highly recommend the nice chill out atmosphere while watching the world go by.

Stopped in for a cocktail so can only judge on that and have to say it was the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. At £9 it was a little pricey but it costs £4.50 for a pint of piss these days.

We visit Whitby as much as we can on a weekend, and no visit is complete without a trip to our favourite place, Macey Brown's the staff are all so friendly from the door staff to the waiting team to the guys behind the bar...

Called in on Wednesday night for cocktails very helpful and the drinks were delicious. We had lunch today and it was the best ceaser salad ever my partner's chicken pitta was also delicious. Lovely atmosphere and lovely staff. Well worth a visit

Fabulous Fabulous Fabulous, great cocktails, and the food is gorgeous. They do have a good selection of beers, lagers, and wines. Not forgetting the soft drinks also. The interior is beautiful and very well designed.

We had to sit outside on the balcony as the music inside was very loud and we couldn't have a conversation or hear what out friends were saying. It was OK outside as the did have heaters. But we were told they were closing early because they were quiet and didn't have many customers inside. ( Because it was TOO LOUD!)
