Fantastic haven, an absolute hidden gem. Spoilt for choice as everything that comes out of the kitchen/on display looks absolutely delicious. Coffee and walnut cake just melts in the mouth. Had an orange and rhubarb cake, the rhubarb grown in the church allotment, was superb. Had a lovely chat and a laugh with the staff. Brought extra hot water and hot milk for our drinks. Prices very reasonable. How lucky am I to have this on my doorstep.

We visited Beggars Belief today with our two granddaughters. We were immediately shown to a great little table by the children’s play area within the church. The food was excellent, I had the bean soup with their renowned cheese scone and my husband had a very tasty quiche with salad. The children had beans on toast and a cheese on toast. So lovely to find a place that offers fresh, tasty homemade food at a very reasonable price. Its also an opportunity to view several works of art from pre Raphaelites artists to boot. A very friendly team set up, all of which couldn’t have been more attentive if they tried. We’ll certainly visit again.

Wonderful café and concept. Beautiful, high standard, homemade food on-site, cooked and served by hard working, efficient, friendly volunteers. All proceeds go to help fund the parish outreach work, which includes providing meals for homeless people. They don't advertise or mention this, but if you wish you can "pass it on" by including a donation when paying your bill. Marvellous place. I'd give ten stars if I could

This café is hidden away and you need to go further inland to find this eatery. It is a bit pricey bearing in mind it is inside a church – St martins on the hill. Food was ok, soup was £5.00 which I think is a tad pricey. No Yorkshire tea on offer as far as I could make out. Tea tasted weak.

LOVE this gorgeous little cafe - the scones are amazing and the tea for two is in the cutest tea cosy. Staff couldn’t possibly be any lovelier and helpful, not sure if they’re volunteers but they are really incredible and kind people. Of course the venue is fabulous and surprisingly warm for a church, and dogs are allowed!! Highly recommend paying a visit it’s all round a lovely experience!!

Went today when visiting scarborough, just had a coffee which was strong,' proper' coffee not instant. We didn't eat as we weren't hungry, but we will go there for lunch when next in scarborough. The food looked good. The church is beautiful, it was warm and the people running the cafe were very friendly. We'd not realised the cafe was open more hours as the sign at the italian gardens isn't there any more,by chance we'd walked down falsgrave Road and saw the sign outside the church. The prices are very reasonable. Go, support a good cause.

This is a wonderful cafe in an absolutely beautiful church. Staff are friendly, there are gorgeous freshly baked cakes and lovely home made soup. The Welsh rarebit is my favourite thing here, but all the food is top notch. You can wander around the church and admire the famous pre-Raphaelite art and features.

Welcome great, room small but only in it few hours each day stay in 1 week with coach tour. Staff the best.Chef is excellent food presentation Fantastic . Could not fault it.Lots to do in hotel and area around. Bar not over priced as a lot of hotels are. We will go again ASAP. Manager very hands on and very pleasant, One young lady (girl) stood out served coffee after meal and helped our small team with quiz answers. She should have award as staff member of the year. Lovely young lady.

Another super weekend of music at the Crescent Hotel! Thurs eve was Blues with the wonderful Alastair James, Friday was Open Mic night, Saturday was Nils' (Events&Bar Manager) 40th Birthday with a great Oasis tribute band and DJ sets until 3am and then tonight we listened to the talented singer&guitarist, Jack Robertson, who covers songs from Dylan to the Arctic Monkeys. The bar staff are endlessly chirpy, efficient and friendly. Thanks all. I'm looking forward to events such as Rocky Horror, Punk Rock and Swing Nights as well as the regular Blues night.......

What a find! This has been the loveliest meal we have had this year. The food is beautiful, my husband had haddock and loved it. I had rib of beef and it was just delightful some of the best food I have had. The landlord was super lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were lovely and attentive but not over bearing. The menu gives lots of choice and there is a brilliant gin menu. They are dog friendly too so we all had a wonderful time- thank you. We have booked up for Sunday lunch when we are next on holiday over here. I couldn’t recommend this place enough

We came here last night for a meal and was one of the best home cooked meals I ever had. The staff were so lovely and we even got to play some darts before our food came!
