went in as one of only vegetarian chippys we could find and was absolutely bloody lovely!!!! felt very comfortable and loving with brilliant staff who seemed to be family and was such a nice experience being there with quite good portion sizes, good availability of condiments and prices were some of the best i’ve seen in scarborough. would definitely come again!

Absolute gem, accidentally found this place on a very rainy afternoon while in Scarborough to attend a concert. What a find!!!! Fantastic light crispy batter, lovely mushy peas and great chips. Couple of tables inside if you want to sit down. Very reasonably priced. Would definitely be my go to place next time I'm in town.

The best mom and pop owned fish and chips I ever had. Can’t believe how affordable it was - WITHOUT compromising on taste & quality. Visited Scarborough for the day and HAD to get a fish and chips. Ended up deciding on this place because everywhere else was extortionate £££ Batter was the perfect crunch - no oily aftertaste. Super light and delicious. Fish was melt in the mouth. Not even a lie. The chips were perfect - not too heavy, we ate in so we got to customise how we wanted them seasoned- which is a +++. Condiments spot on. Mushy peas was exactly what I was after, not gooey, but soft with a good bite, very tasty. Everything was fresh and super light, with small fish & chips being filling enough. And even discussed future veggie options - an extra plus as the owner was passionate about making sure he was doing veggie right & not just the sake of it - massive respect. Atmosphere was great, very friendly and relaxed. Nice to sit down after a long day away from the bustle. Price - cheapest we found in the entire area!!! If you’re looking for a great classic then avoid the rip off prices at the harbour - AND GO HERE!!

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had!!! Made fresh for us. Had a lovely golden batter with juicy fresh fish on the inside. Has sit down space if you want it, but also does take away.

Lovely family run fish & chip shop just a few steps away from the hustle and bustle of the coastal road. My husband had a small portion of haddock & chips which was huge and delicious and crispy. Forgot to take a picture… The rest of us had only chips: not soggy at all. We would definitely come back. Just across the street there are benches where you can enjoy your meal with a nice view over the Sea and the bay. Good value for money.

We tried the Princess F&C after reading good reviews. Really enjoyed the fish and chips (and curry sauce). It was all freshly cooked when we ordered. Would definitely eat here again.

Love this fish and chip shops the lady who runs the shop is so kind and lovely. Food is fab always look forward to a visit to then.

Been coming here for years to eat in because its such excellent value, cooked fresh to order, and peaceful cafe with polite owner. The fish is very tasty. We never go elsewhere for sit in fish and chips. £11 for 2 meals which includes hot drink breadcake and peas. As its also a takeout chippy rather than a restaurant you could order whatever off the menu and eat in.

Came here twice during a stay in the area. Food was excellent. Fish and chips perfectly done but not at all greasy. Very polite service and tasty food would definitely recommend.

Great fish and chips a little off the seaside strip

7 of us went in today on the off chance of getting a table, we had various meals, drinks etc served to us by the most charming polite young man, the meal was Hot, Fresh and very filling. Don't let looks deceive you, this is avery pleasant small cafe with first class food.

Don't confuse this with the cafe over the road It is a small fish and chip shop but does the best chips in Scarborough. It's our favourite chip shop and I recommend it to family and friends.

Called in for a quick fish and chip lunch with the family. Very fair pricing, fantastic service, AMAZING super fresh fish and tasty chips, best in Scarborough we think! A real surprise to find this little gem of a chip shop! Keep up the good work guys, we will be back next time we are in Scarborough

Not quite up to the 4.5 stars. Fish looked like fried twice and chips old looking. Compared to our local Thompsons of York a million miles away for £15. Can't recommend it at all.

Awesome fish and chips. Reasonable prices too. Paid £1 extra each to sit in. Only three tables but was very quiet when we went while the beachfront was really busy. We are so glad we tried this place. The chips were hand cut. Everything was fried to order and none of it was greasy at all. The batter on the fish melted in my mouth. There are benches nearby if you want to do a takeaway.

This is the only chippy me and my Mrs make a beeline for. The chef uses his own recipe for the batter and it tastes lovely. You can sit inside and have your food with no rush. Prices have increased like all the other food places in Scarborough which is the state of our economy at the moment. But adding an extra pound per meal for eating inside, hmm pushes the price even higher. Still good value compared to the rest. Give it a try when in the area, you'll be glad you did.

Absolutely delicious!!! The mushy peas are incredible and the best I've tasted in years - traditional and homemade, not artificial tinned processed gunk. The fish was so fresh it was probably in the sea the day before! Beautiful batter and lovely homemade chips made with potatoes from a locally sourced farm. We received an excellent service and the portions were very generous. It's only a 5 minute walk from the south bay arcades and amusements. Highly recommended to anyone. We will undoubtedly and certainly return here when we next visit Scarborough.

The best fish in Scarborough. Fried to order with lovely crisp batter. I can't vouch for the other food because I always have haddock, chips and mushy peas. The chips and peas are as good as you will get anywhere else.

Visited today as it was the only fish n chip shop open that I could see on my break. I was sceptical as I passed twice & had no customers in. It advertises freshly cooked fish n chips which they were. But it also advertises freshly prepared locally produced chips, unfortunately I got served frozen chips and the fish was very thin. Not worth the price!

Me and my other half called in yesterday on our outing, and got sausage and chips, needless to say the sausage was horrible thought if we ate it we wouldn’t be here today, and the chips were undercooked that or had been warmed up in the microwave, wasn’t very clean either and the curry sauce was lumpy and watery not to mention a strange colour. Didn’t meet expectations for our dinner should have gone else where 🤷🏻‍♀️

Called in here on Sunday for a sit down with my parents and child. Lovely clean place, food was lovely and the lady and gentleman behind the counter were so lovely and polite. The fish was one of the best if not the best I've eaten from a fish and chip shop! Really really enjoyed it! Will definitely be back if in the area!

Called late tea time last week with our dog ate inside the fish and chips were cooked fresh for us and they were fantastic and tasted great and the prices are very reasonable.We will definitely be going back great value and friendly staff.

Absolute gem of a chippy / cafe

My wife wanted to go to the top listing from Tripadvisor and when we got there it was closed. This one was the nearest chippy and it was really good. Nice people, beautiful food and good value. Well done.

This was a lovely fish n chip shop takeaway or if preferred a cafe, upstairs. We chose to eat in and was served by a very friendly waitress. I had the senior special, my son had haddock n chips and my grandson had chicken nuggets, I think,can't really remember. We had pot of tea and can of pop. It was about £ 28 which we thought was reasonable. I would recommend a visit.

Heard great things about this place but unfortunately it didn't live up to it! They must've been having a bad day but the chips tasted and looked like they'd been warmed in the microwave and the portions were insulting, the curry sauce was very watery and had a weird colour. Overall, very disappointing!

Worst fish and chips cooked in veg oil didn't look like fresh potatoes more frozen chips deep fried the fish wasn't cod or haddock I'm sure the curry was watery and powder like we spent £30 and left most of it on the table the lady had poor English and was very short in her manner towards customers they advertise fish and chips at £6.49 but if you want to sit in it's an extra £1 per person not advertised and then its extra for a cold drink so a meal cost us £8 and it just wasnt worth the price so many other chippies with much better value and quality of product.Would of asked for refund but didn't think as the lady was busy and didn't seem very approachable.

Great chips, not mushy and greasy like some places are. Good price too. We had chips, mushy peas and beans. Would definitely go back again. Everything fried in vegetable oil, so great for vegetarians, vegans and religious diets - most chippys in Scarborough seem to fry in beef dripping!

Went in as it was empty and we were hungry to be honest I wasn't that bothered but was pleasantly surprised the fish chips and mushy peas were freshly cooked hot and tasted great only let down is lack of space inside

Went for armed forces day every was rammed, tried princess F&C ... we waited along with everyone else in scarborough a long time to be served as it was so busy. As we got almost to the front we could hear the lady owner arguing with another customer as she had been over charged but owner said the didn't have a 20p to give her she then started telling the male owner but in a foreign language and pointing her out ...it felt very strange and uncomfortable in there. if we hadn't waited so long we would have left ..... oh i wish we left.... the fish was nice and batter was good ..... the battered sausage had exploded in the middle (didn't notice til we had left) ..... the so called hand cut chips from fresh local potatoes were all perfectly uniformed squared sizes that tasted like frozen chips that had been defrosted then cooked in gone off oil and dripping in oil and the breadcakes were dry as if they'd been out for a couple of days ... definitely won't be going there again 🤢🤢

As soon as we walked in, we were made to feel welcome including our dog. The food was delicious and great value for money. Nothing was to much for the staff who all had a lovely sense of humour. Thank you

Had small fish chips and gravy with a bread cake and large cup of tea. It was lovely and hot and super cheap. Such lovely people and very accommodating. She gave my grandson a cup of milk for free. Cost just over £16 for two fish and chips and sausage and chips with all the trimmings!!

3rd visit to this chip shop and every time the food has been excellent. Visited today, had a small fish and chips which was only £4.90, and the portion was more than sufficient, the fish was excellent. Each time I’ve been in the fish has always been cooked to order. Try the (Polish?) paprika seasoning on your chips, it really works 👍

It sounds daft but when I walked in I thought this isnt going to be good because of the aesthetics. But the staff were super friendly and the food was great me and my wife had a lovely battered sausage and great chips. The curry sauce was delicious. Thank you

My dad and I popped in here for fish and chips to eat in, there are a couple of tables at the back of the shop. The Haddock, chips and mushy peas we had were excellent, lovely crispy batter on the fish and very nice chips. The service is great, with a very polite lady who served us. I will definitely be back.

We liked it. Only place open on the street and sea front early evening in December. Nevertheless, the service was prompt, food and drinks were prepared to order and served quickly. I come here when visiting Scarborough because its one of the few places near seafront that don't fry in dripping. My own preference plus my kids are veggies so I have to consider them for how chips are fried. Great prices , fair portions and the mushy peas.. Wow! Taste like they're made the old fashioned way with dried peas and a steeping tablet. Yummy! Good is gorgrous, clean premises and nice kind owners. Was back in Scarboro with hubby yesterday, food consistent as ever. Thank you!

i love this little fish shop. just 2 tables. seating six,, so its mainly takeaway.. weve eaten in just 2x and ive taken the. £4 fish home. a. few times. great fish, great chips. My favourite place. Lovely fish and chip shop, great experience and very reasonably priced. We went when we stayed at cayton bay and have just come back from Scarborough for the day so this little chippy was on the list of things to do. Their special is 5.50 and consists of a small fish and chips, mushy peas, bread bun and a cuppa. Honestly can't fault it in any way. Only 2 tables but we managed to be seated on both our visits. Definitely recommend.

Ordered cod, it got cooked when I ordered it, greasy and the batter wasn’t cooked enough, also the taste was not what I’m used to ie what it was cooked in, but saying all this it was enjoyable. The premises were clean.

I ate here last week and sat in the cafe where there are only 2 tables. I had Fish and Chips, mushy peas, a pot of tea and a bread roll all for £5.49 pence. It was cooked to order and delicious, I shall return!!

We stumbled on this fish and chip shop in 2019 and now visit each time we visit scarborough. Cooked to order the food is fresh and delicious. We always have a band of children in tow and the staff are always very friendly and accommodating...
