Best fish I've ever had in Scarborough

Came here tonight and absolutely brilliant food, and great service too

Less than £30 for 2 x regular fish & chips, a pot of mushy peas and a kids sausage & chips. All cooked fresh and tasted lovely. Can highly recommend if you are in Scarborough.

Lovely fish and chips, some of the crispiest batter I've ever had, had to sit outside because of our dog, but other than that, fantastic, would highly recommend!

Very poor service borderline rude. Did not actually complete our order by neglecting to provide drinks. Fish over cooked and tasted of pure fat!

The small portion of fish and chips was huge and cost a mere £7.15 in September 2024. Lightning fast service and the food was delicious. Clean tidy place with lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. Pleasant friendly staff too.

Excellent fish ‘n chips and very helpful staff who brought them outside for me. Be going again.

On holidays from South Wales and popped in for lunch. We have to say that it was probably the best fish and chips we’ve eaten in years Well done to all involved working there

I'd already been here a few times with my partner and came in August this year with my daughter. Fantastic fish and chips, they've been consistently good Everytime I've been and my partner and I won't go anywhere else in Scarborough now for fish and chips.

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time! The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was so crispy (so yummy I'd already had several bites before I got the photo). The chips were hot, the curry sauce was great too. Really clean restaurant area, with plenty of seating and lovely atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend here for fish and chips.

This is the second time we’ve had fish & chips here in the last few months. Both times we have been delighted by the quality of the food, the price, friendliness of staff and cleanliness of both the eating areas and the toilets. From the outside it looks as though it may be cheap and cheerful so we weren’t sure what to expect. They have a lot of tables, both inside and out but on both our visits staff have kept on top of clearing away and cleaning tables so it was easy to find a clean table to enjoy the most delicious fish and chips. Thanks guys- keep up the good work! 😊

Excellent fish and chips. Good value for money, and friendly and efficient staff. Very clean and tidy (including the toilets!), and a great, sheltered seating area.

Just had fish and chip best we have had even beats The Magpie in Whitby. Great system of ordering get a ticket and collect when called Plenty of tables inside and out big enough for a family when finished Just pop in the bins available. Lovely and clean Friendly staff. Ordered large fish but were given two smaller ones most of which was batter. The fish was dry and only edible because we were starving.

Lovely little find. Portions sizes are huge (even just the regular). Food was tasty and the fish tasted fresh. Place was clean (even though it was busy). Prices weren’t too expensive especially when you look at how big the portions are. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Would 100% recommend and would return in the future. Only downside was having to wait a short while for a table, but we were a group of 10 so that’s not their fault. Luckily a lovely lady swapped with us so we could have a larger table and they took our small one.

Came here as a large group (a mix of adults & children) whilst visiting Scarborough for the day. Between us we had fish, fish cake, scampi, fish bites and chips. All of which was amazing. Each member of the group said how nice the food was. Food wasn’t too expensive and the portions were plentiful. Staff were pleasant and friendly and the place was clean. The only downside was seating. It took us a short time to wait for a table, but what do you expect during the summer when it’s busy.

Staff were very rude, they wouldn’t let us sit inside after they let a big group of people in. The food got cold very quickly as it was raining and windy. Wasn’t one of the best fish and chips we’ve had but wasn’t the worst. Won’t be coming again since the staff were so unfriendly.

Went for fish & chips on Saturday afternoon of the August bank holiday weekend. Food was very tasty and served quickly. Seating was nice and clean.

The food here is great, it's fresh & the portions are decent. It is well organised for such a busy place. The only fault, because it is busy, the table are not getting wiped down fast enough. Kids high chairs are avaliable but also not the cleanest (sticky when carrying it) It is extremely busy.

Went with family for fish and chips, the service was great, and the food was great, we all enjoyed our meals and would definitely return again.

10/10! After walking the seafront looking for a nice, decent priced fish & chip place we found this and i cannot believe ive never been here before! The portion sizes for the price you pay are impeccable! There is plenty of seating aswell, usually some places are too packed which is a put off but here was still so busy and had lots of seats available. The food was delicious and as someone who is very particular when it comes to curry sauce, i was amazed that it wasnt the same watery dark orange too spicy curry sauce that most other fishies give out, it was the traditional chip shop curry that id been hunting for! One very happy customer ☺️

I was recommended this restaurant by my daughter who is a local and I'm glad we walked further along the south bay to visit. Massive fish with crispy batter and a large portion of chips. Quick service considering how busy it was and tasty fresh food. The staff were also polite and calm too. Great value for the portion size and the area it's in.

we visited on a busy Saturday and it was really busy there are not many seats so we had to wait for people to leave. It would be great if they could add more seating as I had a pushchair. People were trying to get past, so it was a bit cramped, but the food was amazing, and the staff was really friendly and definitely would come back again

Pretty good value for money, good fish and chips. It was a nice warm day so we sat outside, but the food was tasty and service was quick bearing in mind most fish was being cooked to order.

Absolutely love this place but couldn't believe how much the price as increased. Within 6 months gone from £9 to £13.75 so will be going elsewhere in future.

I can honestly say we had the best chips we have had in years and also had a good pint!! The reason I've given 4 stars is because pigeons kept flying in. They were over your head at times making it not hygienic when you're trying to eat your food.

came here a few weks ago on the back of youtuber reviews when i was down. Sorry was underwhelmed, fish batter v dry and chips were tasteless - even after drowning it in vingegar I coudnt really finish it. This was a very quiet weekday. Might be wrong but there was potentially talk of batter of the fryer being changed. If it had been it was still poor. Could only really the f+C on the menu and no talk of other sauces, looked as if they'd be charging for ketchup (could be wrong). Staff were fine but went with high hopes which were diminished

Every time we go to Scarborough this is the place to go for your fish and ships , excellent food and reasonably priced for adults and kids, always the same standard 👌

Very poor battered sausage and chips - the sausage was miniscule and the chips, while filling, were deeply mediocre. The staff were pleasant and friendly, but I would never return.

Absolutely great place to get any good food . As the Sunday went there to try some fish and chips and oh boy such a tasty fish with so great chips . Kids meal was massive yet everyone enjoyed food and place well kept clean with so many customers coming in and out . Great food , great staff . Clean and welcoming definitely recommend

Lovely food, friendly staff, nice open area for you to sit inside or outside. Information boards are so useful I booked tickets to a concert at the Open Air Theatre while having my food.

Located on the sea front in Scarborough, it has it has plenty of seating inside and out, it's very popular during the holidays the service is good, the food is great and the portions are generous, although it is pricey, it is worth every penny.

Fish and chips ok but nothing special. Very slow service considering there were lots of staff. Advertised as dog friendly but no umbrella’s outside when it was raining so had to eat elsewhere. Have a back up option.

Fish was over battered with minimal amount of fish hidden under the batter … staff were not polite and everything seemed a bit hard work for them… lots of other fish and chip shops so I suggest you choose a better option

Went to The Anchor a couple of weeks ago and definitely won't be going anywhere else when I Scarborough. Service was friendly and quick. The fish & chips where stop on and piping hot when we got them. They were a good size portion of chips and fish was big for regular definitely worth the money. There is plenty of seats both inside and out. Will definitely be going back here when back in Scarborough.

Food was great but unfortunately there were pigeons inside looking for scraps. The staff do get rid of them but they always come back.

Certainly best fish and chips in Scarborough, probably in Yorkshire. Spotlessly clean, prompt and friendly service. Big portions, fresh and delicious. Can't wait to go back.

Food was good although more salty without the added salt than expected (so not sure how fresh the fish was). Staff were friendly. Place was kept as clean as possible. The nostalgic rude slide show was not suitable for children or anybody not stuck in the 1970s though. It's pity the rude pictures mean I'd never return or recommend this place. The tacky, dated and rude pictures really let down the decent cooking, food and staff entirely!

Lovely food. Forgot my phone on the counter after paying via mobile. Would not have noticed until we left Scarborough to go home. A loely lad that works there actually walked out and around the whole area looking for us; he caught us sat in the car nearby and handed the phone back. Top lad (y) thank you so much. Would defo recommend this place, not only do they serve a good, lovely tasting (you can taste is fresh fish) but their employees are honest good people. Will eat here again as first choice next time we visit Scarborough

Mixed feelings with this one. We had large fish and chips which is a good sized portion, the chips are really nice and the batter on the fish was perfect. Unfortunately the fish was slightly over cooked and a bit dry also a bit thin. If the fish was cooked a bit better this would be up there with the best. The staff are friendly and place is very clean and tidy.

Simply the best fish and chips I've ever eaten and it's our Saturday night treat all over the country. Seved by Lily what a credit to her job, Demi gave us our order and again a pure credit smiles and politeness their top priority. Then Tyler who was making a great job of the tidiness and cleanliness of the establishment. The food was very well priced, good portions, cooked to perfection. Everyone needs to experience this wonderful eatery So thank you all hopefully the bosses treat their amazing staff as well as their staff treat the customers Rachel

Lovely chips! Quick service. Napkins and proper wooden forks automatically given instead of asking and paying extra. Definitely be back.

1st time here, we’ve tried different fish and chips shops around the bay, when we’re here visiting, and we can truly say it’s one of the best we have had, the fish was plenty filling and chips was lovely too

Was more happy with they food and atmosphere really than they actual service

We had to wait for part of our order (they briefly ran out of chips) having already been given everything else. This was just shy of a ten minute wait. However, this was a small oversight and didn't ruin our experience. Staff were quick to clean tables. General vibe was really friendly. The batter on the fish was exactly as I like it, thick, crispy and bubbly. Decent price for quality and quantity of food.

Sorry to say but the Fish and Chips was the worse we've ever tasted. We actually left the food it was that bad. Staff lovely and friendly and the place was clean but the food especially the fish was absolutely disgusting.
