Absolute must if you visit scarbourgh food was fernominal i was with a couple of friends who had never had fish and chips before and ggry said the food was incredible too absolutely 10 out of 10. The view was of the harbour the staff were super helpful and friendly

The food was amazing and served fresh but the customer service really let's the place down. For a relatively smart and friendly place the staff are pure miserable and straight up rude, I had a blonde girl serve me, who refused to tell me her name, when ordering she said she couldn't hear me and to move closer and when repeating myself she says "yeah I heard that obviously" which is not a way someone in customer service should be speaking to customers, I understand it's busy and a tourist town but being disrespected and spoke to in a sparky way making customers feel lesser really needs to be sorted out, I came with 3 friends all if which were disrespected by her when ordering so I hope the attitude changes next time I come around because the food was sublime. If you just want food to go it's alright to put up with but having dirty looks constantly is not appealing for a dine in experience.

A pleasant surprise, one large portion is enough for three people. Delicious juicy fish, lots of meat. Very low price, atmospheric decor with a view of the promenade. I recommend

Frankly, speaking, it is one of the best. Prices fair and atmosphere is lovely. I have been there on 25th February 2025. I highly recommend that.

The fish and chips were superb. The fish was the best I’ve ever had in Scarborough with lovely large white flakes.

We visited this restaurant and ordered three large sets of fish and chips. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The fries were overcooked, possibly deep-fried more than once. The worst part of our experience was the staff's attitude. The menu clearly stated that ketchup was free, yet we were given only one tiny packet per set. When we asked for more, one of the female staff members spoke rudely to my husband and insisted on charging us for additional ketchup. Her tone was incredibly disrespectful. This was by far the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant. There are plenty of other options by the beach that offer better food and customer service.

We called in here today as it was a special day celebrating and remembering my Dad's life. He loved this fish and chip cafe, so today was a day we went with my Mum. From walking through the door, we were greeted with a lovely young lady with a warm smile, she was very patient whilst we decided what we would like, even advising us of what the fish was and that it was skinless and boneless, just how I prefer. She took our order and gave us the order receipt, advising us that we will be called once the food and drinks were ready. I like how the drinks are served at the same time as the food. The cafe is lovely inside with nautical theme, spotlessly clean and welcoming feel to the place. When the food arrived it was piping hot and absolutely delicious, I will go as far as saying, it was the BEST fish I have ever had, pure white Haddock with a perfectly light and crispy batter, I chose to have salt and vinegar on it. My husband opted for a battered sausage buttie, to which he thoroughly enjoyed. The cafe staff we found all very pleasant and, sitting at a table with a view of the bay (perfect). We visited the loo before we left, which incidentally very again spotlessly clean. I make no wonder my Dad loved this place. A review also in memory of my lovely Dad. Precioso, ligero, crujiente masa y buen pescado en escamas en el interior, las patatas fritas estaban bien cocidas. 90 para el pescado y patatas fritas, que era muy buena relación calidad-precio. Siéntate o lleva y cocina a la orden. Bien, amable, el servicio también. Volveré.

What a gem of a fish and chips shop in Scarborough. We were greeted by friendly staff,and served the most delicious fish and chips. Batter and quality of fish was outstanding,likewise chips. Server also offered us tomato sauce. You can sit inside or out at no extra charge. When we return to Scarborough which is quite frequent,we will definitely return here. Well done all concerned with anchor.

Very tasty Whitby Scampi and Chips with Mushy peas ! Admittedly I had worked up a good appetite on a long walk , but all the same , never left a scrap ! Superb clean establishment and smiley staff . Nice cold can of Dandelion and Burdock to wash it down . Great location , great food ! 😋

Very good chippi taste of food is lovely curry sauce a bit rich for me and a lot of batter on fish on a whole a great place to come and eat with brilliant service.

We went on a chilly Monday evening and sat outside with the dog. They were freshly cooked, so they were hot and light, with fluffy chips and crispy batter (cooked in lard), giving the food the traditional flavour of the seaside. Enjoying a pint with it was a real bonus.

No Salt and vinegar on the tables otherwise very good fish and chips.

With the sea front lined with fish and chip shops, it's probably the best one to go to. Food has always been good, yet we have had some crap at others. Good selection on the menu and good portion size.

Sentados aquí decepcionados con nuestra visita en esta ocasión. Hemos estado aquí varias veces antes para pescado recién cocinado con patatas fritas con una pequeña espera para la comida. En esta ocasión la comida estaba en la bandeja para cuando las bebidas estaban listas. Lamentablemente, el pescado estaba rebozado en un 70 % y el trozo de pescado pequeño que había en la masa estaba muy seco. Obviamente, las patatas fritas eran el final de una cocción por lotes, ya que también estaban arrugadas en seco y eran muy pequeñas, como los scragends que se agitan hasta el final del día. La salchicha rebozada era agradable, aunque realmente no se puede ir mal en una salchicha rebozada. Bonita salsa de curry. Bebe bien. Aprenderá de esta experiencia y pedirá comida recién cocinada la próxima vez.

We go to the Anchor once a year and we travel down from Halifax as it's what my daughter chooses every year for her birthday. It never disappoints.

Less than £30 for 2 x regular fish & chips, a pot of mushy peas and a kids sausage & chips. All cooked fresh and tasted lovely. Can highly recommend if you are in Scarborough.

The small portion of fish and chips was huge and cost a mere £7.15 in September 2024. Lightning fast service and the food was delicious. Clean tidy place with lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. Pleasant friendly staff too.

Very poor service borderline rude. Did not actually complete our order by neglecting to provide drinks. Fish over cooked and tasted of pure fat!

Typical wetherspoons good prices exceptable food half decent service but you get what you pay for and wetherspoons which wetherspoons give.

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time! The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter was so crispy (so yummy I'd already had several bites before I got the photo). The chips were hot, the curry sauce was great too. Really clean restaurant area, with plenty of seating and lovely atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend here for fish and chips.

This is the second time we’ve had fish & chips here in the last few months. Both times we have been delighted by the quality of the food, the price, friendliness of staff and cleanliness of both the eating areas and the toilets. From the outside it looks as though it may be cheap and cheerful so we weren’t sure what to expect. They have a lot of tables, both inside and out but on both our visits staff have kept on top of clearing away and cleaning tables so it was easy to find a clean table to enjoy the most delicious fish and chips. Thanks guys- keep up the good work! 😊

Just had fish and chip best we have had even beats The Magpie in Whitby. Great system of ordering get a ticket and collect when called Plenty of tables inside and out big enough for a family when finished Just pop in the bins available. Lovely and clean Friendly staff. Ordered large fish but were given two smaller ones most of which was batter. The fish was dry and only edible because we were starving.

Lovely little find. Portions sizes are huge (even just the regular). Food was tasty and the fish tasted fresh. Place was clean (even though it was busy). Prices weren’t too expensive especially when you look at how big the portions are. Staff were pleasant and friendly. Would 100% recommend and would return in the future. Only downside was having to wait a short while for a table, but we were a group of 10 so that’s not their fault. Luckily a lovely lady swapped with us so we could have a larger table and they took our small one.

Came here as a large group (a mix of adults & children) whilst visiting Scarborough for the day. Between us we had fish, fish cake, scampi, fish bites and chips. All of which was amazing. Each member of the group said how nice the food was. Food wasn’t too expensive and the portions were plentiful. Staff were pleasant and friendly and the place was clean. The only downside was seating. It took us a short time to wait for a table, but what do you expect during the summer when it’s busy.

Staff were very rude, they wouldn’t let us sit inside after they let a big group of people in. The food got cold very quickly as it was raining and windy. Wasn’t one of the best fish and chips we’ve had but wasn’t the worst. Won’t be coming again since the staff were so unfriendly.

The food here is great, it's fresh & the portions are decent. It is well organised for such a busy place. The only fault, because it is busy, the table are not getting wiped down fast enough. Kids high chairs are avaliable but also not the cleanest (sticky when carrying it) It is extremely busy.

10/10! After walking the seafront looking for a nice, decent priced fish & chip place we found this and i cannot believe ive never been here before! The portion sizes for the price you pay are impeccable! There is plenty of seating aswell, usually some places are too packed which is a put off but here was still so busy and had lots of seats available. The food was delicious and as someone who is very particular when it comes to curry sauce, i was amazed that it wasnt the same watery dark orange too spicy curry sauce that most other fishies give out, it was the traditional chip shop curry that id been hunting for! One very happy customer ☺️

I was recommended this restaurant by my daughter who is a local and I'm glad we walked further along the south bay to visit. Massive fish with crispy batter and a large portion of chips. Quick service considering how busy it was and tasty fresh food. The staff were also polite and calm too. Great value for the portion size and the area it's in.

The go to chippy every time for our biker group visiting Scarborough. Great location, very clean, staff always on hand. Excellent WC facilities

we visited on a busy Saturday and it was really busy there are not many seats so we had to wait for people to leave. It would be great if they could add more seating as I had a pushchair. People were trying to get past, so it was a bit cramped, but the food was amazing, and the staff was really friendly and definitely would come back again

I can honestly say we had the best chips we have had in years and also had a good pint!! The reason I've given 4 stars is because pigeons kept flying in. They were over your head at times making it not hygienic when you're trying to eat your food.

came here a few weks ago on the back of youtuber reviews when i was down. Sorry was underwhelmed, fish batter v dry and chips were tasteless - even after drowning it in vingegar I coudnt really finish it. This was a very quiet weekday. Might be wrong but there was potentially talk of batter of the fryer being changed. If it had been it was still poor. Could only really the f+C on the menu and no talk of other sauces, looked as if they'd be charging for ketchup (could be wrong). Staff were fine but went with high hopes which were diminished

Absolutely great place to get any good food . As the Sunday went there to try some fish and chips and oh boy such a tasty fish with so great chips . Kids meal was massive yet everyone enjoyed food and place well kept clean with so many customers coming in and out . Great food , great staff . Clean and welcoming definitely recommend

Lovely food, friendly staff, nice open area for you to sit inside or outside. Information boards are so useful I booked tickets to a concert at the Open Air Theatre while having my food.
