Angel Fisheries in Scarborough

Went to whitby for a day out in all they was 6 off us couldn't believe the price of fish and chips in whitby over £20 which didn't include bread or a drink so for 6 of us it would have been about £150 with drinks found Angel fisheries was a lot cheaper and was lovely [locally caught fish]

Best fish and chips in Whitby I think. Lovely cuppa too. Can't wait to go back.

Very moody and unfriendly female that serve me today (from down south) Wrong order and very expensive for the portion you get Sausages were tiny for £1.30 £4 for a chip butty 🫢

Now then, we arrived from Edmonton Canada 🇨🇦 to Whitby and on the recommendation of many, decided to tuck into the most incredible fish and chips on this Earth. The piccys speak for themselves and we sure loved the whiter than white fish and the chips were divine. My friend had his with curry sauce and has decided that it's the best he has had in the UK. Sat with a lovely couple from Milton Keynes and we have all agreed 10 out of 10 for the food. Forget anywhere else and go here. Must say that we enjoyed our Haddock and Chips to share between us. We are small eaters and love Haddock. With the Mushy Peas and Curry Sauce and Scraps and Bread Bun 😋😋😋. Very delicious 😋😋😋 indeed....

Takeaway or eat in . We ate in on one of the tables straight out of the box ! Toilets on the premises. Nice change and lot cheaper than some of its famous neighbours.

DONT GO. I asked for 1 adult chips, curry sauce and 1 small child's portion fish and chips. Served by a boy teenager. No offence but an adult would see, tiny amount of chips in a tray half filled - Shameful £15!! With 2 diet Pepsi. I had more curry than I had chips. I stared at this baby portion and he crumbled asking if i wanted some batter bits! Erm a few more chips would have been better!! I sat down furious and ate them within 10 seconds! My child still eating 🙄 I felt robbed so id say go elsewhere. Just because the location is good doesn't justify that. Will never use again. Popped down to Greggs further down the road. We went to Whitby for a family day out with the dog and we’re looking to get some fish and chips in a cafe. We couldn’t find anywhere to eat so looked on trip advisor which recommended Angel Fisheries and decided to get a takeaway and eat on the harbour. We are so glad we did as we all decided it was the best chippy we had ever had. The batter on the fish was so light and freshly made and the chips done to perfection. We can all highly recommend Angel Fisheries and can’t want to return.

Cooked to order👍......only wood forks no knifes👎....have to ask for paper napkins👎...no glasses or straws for cans of pop👎. ...but repeat fish cooked to order and was 👍

It was ok but not too good. Small cod and chips was very small by the price of £7.95 as per today's date 22/01/24. Chips was not good. If you are hungry and no options then you can try it otherwise I won't. Service was good but food wise not much.

On a chilly Monday lunchtime in January, this was one of the only places open to eat in Whitby, so we stopped by for a quick bite. The lovely lady behind the counter was friendly and served us immediately. We sat in and were charged no different if we had taken the food out,which was very reasonable. I had a chip butty,small battered sausage and scraps,which cost less than £5 so great value. The batter was tasteless and needed salt and vinegar, but the chips were nice, and the sausage was OK.

Angel Fisheries was one of the few fish & chip shops open during our recent trip out to Whitby so we stopped by for something to eat together. I had a chip butty with a small sausage and my partner had the same. Service was attentive & the food was fresh & hot. I didn't find the food particularly tasty, as the batter seemed somewhat plain, but I had the usual condiments & tartare sauce (a tad overpriced at £1.10 per flat tub) which helped the flavour. Good value for money and sit in price was the same as take out. No real complaints here.

It's in an alley near the sea front. Has seating for 18 people. When I arrived it was empty, a bad sign because I was once advised to never buy food in an empty restaurant. People soon arrived and left. The small cod and chips for £7.95 was excellent, so were the chips and they remembered the scraps. Now the bad points, dogs are allowed, one sat under the table. The fish and chips were served with a disposable wooden fork on a plastic paper tray. I would have preferred metal cutlery on a ceramic plate. Now the big negative, the fish & chips were served on top of blue printed paper. This is not colour fast, where the wet greasy fish flesh was in contact with the blue print it leaked the blue colour onto the fish. This could possibly be a health hazard.

We were cold and needed something warm had the mini fish and chips great value freshly cooked the batter was amazing and I am really fussy but the food was great, really good value and very friendly service

A great chippy, decent prices, and the fish was excellent. Cooked perfectly, crispy batter but moist soft fish. Good portion size. Curry sauce was lovely. No queuing either!

Probably the best fish &chip restaurant in Whitby. All freshly cooked and super delicious food. Nice seating area if you want to sit inside. The staff tirelessly working never stopping to keep the flow of orders. Had takeaway fish and chips. Fish was OK but the chips tasted of the oil and I couldn't eat many. Customer service was poor

Best haddock I've ever had. So fresh, sweet and wonderfully cooked. Staff very friendly. We didn't go on any reviews, just passing by and popped in. Glad we did.

Locally sourced Fish, locally sourced potatoes and very well cooked. Extremely tasty fish and food was presentable in general I paid just over £20 for two cod and chips along with a carton of peas and thought in the current climate, it seemed good enough. The cod was extremely tasty and you could really taste the cod compared to others, it was very fresh and very tasty.

We were visiting Whitby on a day visit. Wandering around the harbour front, we smelt the wonderful aroma of vinegar on chips, this prompted us to find something to eat. We then were about to walk past, Angel Fisheries, when a family came out they were talking about the fact they'd just had some of the best Fish'n'Chips in ages. The young boys said they were "Very Yummy" ,so overhearing that we decided to give it a go. Now you have to understand EVERY fish and Chip shop in Whitby has at some point been the "Best" in Whitby/Yorkshire/England/UK etc, but it's all great, where ever you decide to eat. So what did we think? We both had Cod'n'Chips, with a coffee and a Tea, the bill £24.50. So overall not a bad price. I would have given it an Excellent rating but the Toilet was out of action. Great to read that the fish was caught by their own trawlers and the Spuds were very local. Would we go back, very possibly, but with so many great "Award winning" Fish'n'Chip shops, you have to give more than one a go.

Very busy little no-frills place. Staff efficient & friendly. Amazing fish & chips. It's somewhere we'll definitely go back to if we revisit Whitby. Highly recommended!

Miserable, unfriendly staff! Worst fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. 2” thick, hard batter with barely any fish inside. Cheap tiny plastic forks, not even a plastic knife. Charged even for tiny pot of cheap tomato sauce! Expensive, tasteless meal! absolute rubbish!

We had fish and chips here on 15.9.23. They weren't greasy at all, the fish was white and juicy, chips were delicious. Really would recommend the Angel Fisheries.

Visited the place today. Got portion chips, fish bites and curry sauce. Came to just less then £10. Chips were ok, as was the curry sauce. The fish bites were probably the worst ive had. Hard, not even fish in them apart from very hard fish tail and skin. I left them but gave the dog a few and even the dog struggled. I should have returned them but seen there was a big queue. For that price it should be half decent. This review is only based on my experience.

Lovely hot food served in paper. The fish was white and flakey and the scampi juicy. Huge portions for a very reasonable price. We ate inside at a long table. It was delicious!

We visited as a couple on a wet Monday in August 2023. This is a no frills place, order at the counter, take a seat, collect and eat when it's ready. Absolutely delicious fish and chips. Fresh, cooked to order, fast and generous helpings.

Stopped at the first fish and chip shop we found and wish we’d carried on looking. Oily batter on the sausage and the chips were hard and had the same texture as frozen chips. Very disappointing.

Chip butties ordered. But you only get the bottom half of the breadcake so expensive for half a breadcake.

I ordered fish and chips, it came in a cardboard tray with the fish on top of the chips, the fish wasn't drained before serving so the chips were in a pool of grease, I'll eat anything and even I had to leave them, I did help the kids with theirs and those chips were ok. My wife had scampi and chips and enjoyed it. Kids had sausage and chips each and enjoyed them. Sides/sauces are way over priced, a pot of cheap catering standard ketchup is 80p.... Ok food but not worth the £43 it cost unfortunately, my local chippy is about £25 for similar. I expect to pay a premium for Whitby harbour fish and chips but this was to much for what we got.

Found this little gem walking along the front , went inside as dogs are allowed on bottom Tier of the restaurant, had fish and chips …. Definitely recommend so tasty , fresh and good portion sizes too ! The restaurant was spotless , toilets spotless...

Excellent chips and curry, down a side street well worth looking for.

Had loads of chippies in Whitby earmarked as good but we chose this because it looked and felt right and we saw the quality of the food from people eating outside. Whispy and crunchy batter, thick juicy haddock, super chips and great service... spot on!

Just a tad disappointing overall. A lot of effort is spent in the decor of the place, which feels quite cold and aseptic. The food was good but nothing amazing.

A little gem of a Whitby fish n chip shop hidden away just by the harbour. Friendly service and a 'sit in if you want' option. There should be queues outside this shop .. people dont realise what they are missing 😀

I have been there to get the famous fish and chips and it was delicious. Myself and my wife had a lovely time there, the place is clean, friendly staff and delicious food. Highly recommended to go there and even if you would like to take-away, you will be surprised with the flavour!!

Great place for more reasonably priced fish and chips. Three 6-seater tables inside and an airy feel (not stuffy!). Fish was cooked well, peas were 'real' and not too salty, chips large and crispy.

The food was really good, and well priced. Only complaint was when ordering the food it was a bit hectic as no one knew were to queue from or wait for their food.

Three of us went here for a traditional fish and chips experience whilst we were touring Whitby and it was a pleasant one. ✔️ Reasonably priced fish and chips (around £9 per cod and chips portion). We found most of the other places around Whitby bay sells fish and chips for a rip-off price (e.g. £17-£21 per cod and chips portions for dine in) and some had a massive queue to enter. ✔️A nice selection of menu including calamari, whitebait, sausages, sauses, gravy & etc. ✔️Friendly, welcoming staff. ✔️Decent seating space (probably around 20-25 people can sit in) and dining area. ⚠️️We expected the taste to be special, given the fact it was in Whitby. This is traditional fish and chips and the taste could be improved. However, it was a decent portion of fish and chips :) Thank you very much.

Have to say, there the best fish and chips i've had on this planet in my 52 years. So fresh and crispy, talking to the staff and they have pictures of the boats that catch the fish. Definitely going back next time I'm there.

Fabulous fish and chips here. Kids meals are great value and quality. The fish are landed and cut fresh each day. Thirty list the trawlers they came from on the wall.

According to Google Maps I'm at Russells Traditional Fish & Chips. The sign above the door says Angel Fisheries though. Either way this is the best fish and chips in the world. You may disagree, you would be wrong. The haddock and chips, my personal favourite, is incredible. The fish is flavourful and delicate, with just enough batter for it. The chips are wonderfully balanced between a crunchy exterior and a fluffy interior. The prices are fair to so I don't feel ripped off. Plus the staff are friendly and always feel welcoming. I'd rate it six stars if I could.

Visited for the first time today. Amazing food in an interesting little building. Definitely be visiting again.

Not a great experience, but probably not the worse. Strange set up, come in and find your own table (which may or may not be clean), then make your way to the queue to order your food in the exact same way you would order...

The prices in here are exceptional the haddock was beautiful tasted fresh and the batter was crispy it’s in my opinion as good as you will find in Whitby and better than most

What a nice find this little place was! We had chips, sausage and curry sauce. It was unbelievable. The curry is one of the best ones I have had for a while. Everything was served lovely and hot. Service was great, the young lad brought our food over to the table for us while we waited. The atmosphere was nice and calm in here too. All out great place to have some lunch or dinner not far from the harbour. Worth popping in for a little meal.

In the abundance of fish and chip shops there are in Whitby, it was decided to go to this one and I have to say it was a cracking choice!! The service was very friendly, it was quick and the food stayed hot for a good amount of time. It cost £12 for two portions of chips, two portions of curry sauce, a regular sausage and a soft drink which I feel is a very reasonable pricing. The food itself was lovely, chips were perfectly cooked and the sausage was good and the curry sauce was probably one of the best I have had out there for sure. Would definitely recommend this place if you're in Whitby.

Lovely fried haddock. Crisp batter and tasty fish. The chips however were dreadful: dark, soggy and soaked on fat. A potentially nice lunch ruined. An establishment that cares so little is not worth visiting

This was my second visit to Angel Fisheries, hoping that the quality of the scampi was as good as I’d remembered from a couple of years ago. I was not disappointed. The only slight niggle was that they had run out of tartare sauce. But...

A lovely little find July last year when with my friend and visit was amazing. Food, Atmosphere, Service 100%...so when I was lucky enough to be taken out for Day Trip Date my 1st choice was here and well the Ex Sailor I was with loved the Scampi n Chips and well its now his go to spot he said. Value for money is excellent.
