Was cooked lovely always like this chip shop.and prices are well low get lots of chips far to many for me you can ring for a collection or you can get them delivered

Lovely quality Fish and Chips delivered to Royal Crescent in a Flash !!!)Piping Hot as well) Used them a number of times now and they are always very pleasant on the phone

Amazing place, Girl serving was super friendly food was super hot and fresh, amazing curry sauce and priced super cheap Certainly be coming back

I ordered two portions of cod and chips on Thursday for delivery at 4-00 on Friday these arrived on the dot a quick joke about the days bad weather. We really enjoyed the meal and as this is the first time we have had food from them I would recommend them to anyone , first class food , friendly staff . Thank you very much .

Good food and by far the best value in Whitby.

I visited this delightful little chippy as I was staying nearby for the Whitby Goth Weekend. The service was excellent, and the lovely ladies who run this place are friendly and welcoming. I had a large haddock and chips for £10 which was an absolute bargain as the fish was huge and there were ample chips to share between two of us. Plus the chips were perfect, not too thick and not too thin. We will definitely be stopping by for a bite to eat again next time we're in Whitby

Few changes to the menu. Fish Patty removed. Everything now comes with chips. You can't order fish, scampi or sausage separately. With government directive on single use plastic for takeaways, they have moved to cardboard trays. Seems to be half the Chips we used to get. No longer the best value chippy in Whitby

Nothing wrong with this place.. good fish and chips, very friendly people working there and I thought very reasonable prices. I’m going back again before my holiday is over.. I highly recommend the railway chippy..

The fish and chips from the railway chippy are some of the best I have had on the north east coast I have only lived in filey for thirty years so trust me the standard is high ,go for the haddock it's the best

Phoned to order for a 45 minute collection - The fish and chips was possibly the worst I've ever had. Avoid at all costs. The fish batter was crispy, overcooked and tasteless. The fish was dry, chewy, tasteless and borderline inedible. The chips were horrible looking and worse tasting. It's shameful this 'food' was deemed fit for consumption and the fact it left the building is worrying in terms of quality control. Pay heed, go elsewhere. Anywhere else would surely be better.

Brilliant little chippy, lots of choice and reasonable too. Pay a visit!

Just had fish and chips. The fish was warmed up in 30 sec. Should have seen that one coming. Had to throw away most of the chips . Hard over cooked warmed up. Seagulls said they were too hard.

Great service for a delivery take out, food was very, very good & would highly recommend if you in the area.

Top Haddock, fab bit of fish , chips floppy but tasty , offered Scrats , not sure what that was , reasonably priced and ya can eat um in pub opposite, owners decent local kinda folk

staying nearby, went into Co-op and asked 2 people working there where they would get their F&C from - unanimous. The smell was glorious and cooked to order. very good value for money (best) and tastier than the posher ones around the main drag/harbour. make the effort and get from here. Get your order in, have a drink in the little pub over the road. note they close at 7.30pm.

Perhaps it depends on what time you go. Visited tonight at around 7.15pm and although the sign says cooked to order, that doesn't seem to apply to the chips. Judging from their appearance they must have been there quite a while. Shame as the service and price was very good.

We were a bit apprehensive given the previous reviews but we have absolutely no regrets. The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked and batter crispy. Yes the chips were a bit soggy but tasty. Would probably just go for the fish next time and it was huge!!

This was the second time we’ve tried this place and I’m afraid there won’t be a third. Most of it ended in the bin and even what what we did eat was only because we were so hungry. The fish was “wet” and slimy and swimming in grease as were what passed for chips. They were more like French fries and scraps due them being cut so thinly. The peas were passable and the bread cake was nice. You’ll know you’ve eaten them for the rest of the night as the grease keeps on repeating on you. Very disappointing.

Great place to get your fish dinners from overall great place, spot on location, only a short walk from town but definitely worth a short walk however if you don't want a walk they also do delivery...

Sorry to say the worst chips ever it's like they've been cooked left and warmed or recooked, the chips were so hard they were inedible, which is such a shame that the cheapest part of the meal, old chips could be thrown away when left and a fresh batch made. Rather than making a bad rep losing custom and wasting people's money , this is not the first time but this chippy has been a family favourite for a while so went back no any more.

Brilliant find tucked away in the back streets. Amazing value and very friendly family owned businesses. Fish chips and pineapple were really good and freshly cooked. It's my favourite chippy in Whitby from now on.

Thought we had landed a real coup. Having a fish and chop shop right on our doorstep on a trip to Whitby. Unfortunately not. Firstly, this is a cash only place - we nearly fell down at that point until I remembered that we had some cash in the car. The staff were lovely and the shop was very clean. When I saw the fish coming out they looked greasy, but thought that might just drain off. Our fish was cooked from fresh, so hadn’t been standing around. The unanimous review of our whole family was that it was the worst fish and chips that we had in Whitby. Fish was greasy. Chips were soggy. A real shame, because we wanted to like the place.

Good old fashion family chippy with a modern twist. Excellent food and service, with something for every one. They also deliver.

Ate from here twice during our recent Whitby stay. If you order a 'Large' fish, make sure you're hungry, it's more like they've caught Moby Dick and thrown it in the fryer! Really well cooked and a nice thick piece of fish. The chips were good, not too thick but a little on the soft side for my liking (everyone else like them though so maybe that's just me). The scampi was also good, not soggy like I've had before. My favourite was the black pudding, well worth it!

We had large Cod and Chips delivered from the Railway Chippy this evening, very friendly delivery they came fresh and hot, excellent chunky white Cod and the Chips were superb, thank you Railway Chippy we really enjoyed our Tea 10 out if 10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fantastic service and the cod was fantastic. Chips were good too! Waited the 10 mins cooking time across the road in the pub with a pint. Recommended.

You can't beat the prices here. Small cod and chips for just £3.50 and it's not that small really. They were cooking to order when I arrived so had a wait of a few minutes, but this means your food is very fresh. Chips were lovely and cod was to die for. You can't go wrong here (the locals know best!).

Worst fish-and-chips ever fish was overcooked and the chips had so much oil. It was the first night and we put most of it in the bin waste of money. I called them and they said they would let the cook know ant they didn't not offering a refund. I would go down to Trenches in the harbour.

Delivered to holiday park,good communication and friendly. Exceptional value for money our haddock was a foot long all boxed kept piping hot and crunchy. Excellent for people with a large appetite, we always use this chippy when staying at whitby holiday park highly recommended 😁

Worst chips I have ever had. Soggy, small and greasy I must have two of our party must have had last scrapings that were not drained. Fish was just about OK. Two our party of 4 suffered from indigestion afterwards.

We always have fish and chips from here when we stay in Whitby, generally having them delivered to the cottage we stay in, close by. This year, due to Covid, we ordered over the telephone and then popped down to collect them. Lovely staff and food - even our veggie daughter is catered for with a jacket potato. We will continue to return.

Just spent a weeks holiday in an apartment in whitby and on the last night we ordered fish and chips to be delivered from this shop, as spending time in the past as a fryer in a chip shop, these were the very worst fish and chips we have ever tasted. The fish was dry and over cooked it looked as if some of it had been left over from the afternoon session and the chips were just a soggy mess, if this is the best they can do then I think they should pack it in as our order was a complete waste of money and most of it ended up in the bin.
