We visit here quite regularly, always a warm welcome and great food, we try and attempt the quiz too

Food was excellent and plentiful. I got the ham and potato salad, my friend got the crab and prawn salad. Both were really tasty and huge! The gentleman offered to package up the half meals we couldn’t manage when he saw we were struggling. Recommend

The food was beautifully presented, tasty and well cooked and the staff went the extra mile to mark my mum and sisters birthdays. Lovely clean pub, friendly service, good value and a lovely village setting.

Whilst looking for a dog friendly place we stumbled upon The Bridge Inn. The food was amazing! My youngest has a very exacting palette and he couldn’t say enough good things about his meal. I am a veggie and am used to the usual boring veggie options-but not this time! Everything is homemade and so delicious. All of the staff were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. Finally, the location; Wow! We will definitely be back next time we are in the area

Just had breakfast here, absolutely delicious and great quality. Not cheap ingredients and plenty of butter for the toast. Wonderful staff, I strongly recommend it. Pretty full now. 😀

Great food. They managed to get us in without reservation before the evening rush. Happy to have the dog with us, and although a pub it was table service. The food is typical pub food but considerably better than most restaurants, and decent portion sizes too. I'd recommend the lasagne!

Lovely pub by the railway station. Meals where lovely. 1st day we had lunch there while we waited for our room to be ready at the hotel down the road. I had the beef roll with gravey and chips. Spot on just how I'd have made it. We ate tea time there the day after and breakfast on our last morning. All meals lovely. Staff were cool 😎 as well good to chat too. Very welcoming. Recommended highly. If next year the car show is on we will be back

Myself and son ate here four times during our stay in Ruswarp as we loved the place so much. The food was fantastic, even for a very fussy eating 10yr old, who said it should have been award winning. Trust me that is high praise from my son! The people, from Owners, bar and kitchen staff can't do enough for you! We will be sad to be going home and wish it was our local in Leeds.

Came across this gem whilst looking for somewhere to eat during a 3 day trip to Whitby. So glad we stopped here. Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food and such great portions. Sad we don’t live nearby as it could soon become our local. Our thanks to staff for feeding 3 hungry souls. Our grandson thought his apple crumble was “ the best ever”.

Accommodated us even though we hadn't booked lovely friendly staff busy popular Inn would recommend visiting this place if in the area very lovely evening meal really enjoyed everything .

Went for an evening meal and although the service was ok the food left a lot to be desired, Luke warm and the chips, well they must have run out !

Ruswarp is a beautiful village which we always visit when staying in Whitby. We sat in the beer garden out the back which was lovely as it was a sunny day. I had the pie of the day which was mince and veg which was very tasty 😋 and home made chips to go with it. My husband had lasagna which he gave 6 out of 10 for. I'd rate mine as 8.5 out of 10. I would definitely go back but the husband is undecided.

Lovely friendly local pub. Proper pub grub, home made and tasty. Recommended for a visit, it's only a mile outside Whitby away from all the bustle and has a nice beer garden.

Took me a while to get round to doing this review but anyway. We visited Whitby for a week in February, we ate out every night and to be honest we really struggled to find anywhere too great which wasn't fish and chips - we had young children so everywhere we went needed to be child friendly, anyway on the last night we decided to try this place The Bridge and I'm pleased to say that it did not disappoint, really friendly staff, child friendly with a great kids menu, great country pub atmosphere and the food was easily the best we'd had that week! Highly recommend visiting this place for a nice meal and a drink if you're ever in Whitby.

Beautiful food, amazing beer garden.

A great family run pub that certainly satisfied our stomachs with one of the best Sunday roast dinners my wife and I have had for a very long time. First good point was that we rang them at 5.20pm (on Sunday 7 July 2024) to ask if they were still serving food, the friendly lady said "Yes, up to 6 o'clock" and they had the full range of meats too. So, putting our skates on we drove from our High Normanby camp site to the pub in Ruswarp, and made it 20 minutes later. We had the beef & lamb roast dinners, and, as said above, can honestly say they were absolutely delicious, just like proper home cooking, complete with a separate bowl of leek & cheese sauce. Meat was beautifully tender too. And to top that my wife and I had a pudding each - jam Roly poly and pineapple upside down sponge pudding, both served with an ample jug of custard. Couldn't fault it at all. Even the pub itself is very dog friendly. Great atmosphere. If you're staying nearby, or even within a 10 mile radius, I'd highly recommend you travel to this gem of a pub. You will not be disappointed 😀👍

On holiday and staying at old ticket office and this pub is opposite,lovely place with a nice beer garden overlooking river,good selection of drinks and friendly staff and a great atmosphere,highly recommend,I haven't eaten here as yet but I saw the Sunday roast being dished out and smelt and looked amazing 😍

Just had a great pub dinner here. They managed to accommodate our late booking. Food was good pub grub. A bit of a delay with our order arriving but that was acknowledged and a reduction to our bill, in our review this was a really good customer service approach and much appreciated. Lovely local vibe, good pub food in a nice setting. We would happily recommend based on our experience today.

Was heading into Whitby for traditional must have fish and chips but the weather changed our minds and we're so happy that it did best lasagne I have ever had. (And I eat it a lot )and my hubby's pie was excellent he said ! We would recommend to anyone visiting the area to come hear lovely atmosphere and dog friendly,(not dog owners but I'm a dog lover )

Stopped for a pint and some chips on a walk from Whitby, great service and the food & beer were lovely. Sat in the pub garden and was fortunate enough to see the train go past, it's really close!

Great value for money. Food was hot and we didn't have to wait too long to be served. Food was available all day with a variety of light bites and pub classics.

Had the gammon and the fish cougons both well prepared and cooked and presented well. Nice atmosphere and open longer hours which is good. However I would say that the drinks a little expensive for a regular outing.

An amazing local pub with a beer garden that has the most wonderful out look for you to discover. The food is pub grub at it finest, and the service is attentive, discreet and friendly. The beer is very well kept and there is a good selection of local ales, gins etc, more than enough to choose from. The locals are friendly and entertaining and the bar is doggo friendly 🐕🐾. I highly recommend the hot meat sub with chunky chips and gravy, it is a true find and the perfect quick bite, as you can see from photos they smelt that good we forgot to take a photo before we started eating. They also cater for gluten free and vegetarians. Can't recommend this place enough, go on down and give it a try I don't believe it would disappoint!!

Sunday lunch is excellent, but book ahead. Loved the sticky toffee pudding and custard, plenty of everything sponge toffee sauce and custard. Very friendly staff and locals if I lived nearby it would by my local.

Went for Sunday lunch, staff we're lovely and attentive. Toilets were a struggle to get into so could do with updating. Had a lovely view of the river and train line. Seating was a bit basic but OK. The food was nice but we thought there wasn't enough veg and a tade expensive for the amount. Parking is a nightmare but we were lucky and got in on the side street. On the whole we would visit again.

Great food (ate here twice on a long weekend visit), nice beers, and brilliant staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome and well looked after. Proper pub. Small cosy bar, and a couple of other rooms to eat in, plus a riverside/trackside patio. Even sorted a pot of milk for us to take back to our poorly-supplied cottage so we could make tea! Such a warm and friendly welcome from the staff and the locals. The food is AMAZING, accidental drop in for lunch had us return for breakfast the next day, evening meal the following day and a breakfast to send us on our way home our last day. Seriously! If you fancy a drive out, it really is worth it.... Dog friendly, too..

The Bridge Inn was recommended by the local guest house owners we were staying with. We had planned to drive into Whitby for dinner. We must say we’re so pleased we visited the Bridge Inn instead & would highly recommend! We received a warm welcome, the atmosphere was cosy & the staff were so accommodating & friendly. All the food was homemade & so tasty. It was clear to see the thought & effort that had been put into each dish. My husband had a huge home made Yorkshire pud with mash, 3 huge quality sausages & veg of his choice. I had the best vegetable lasagne, chips, salad & garlic bread. Sticky toffee pud with custard was a delight & I couldn’t help but pinch some from my husband. I had the best mocha hot drink with a baileys on the side. Cost just over £50 with a Guinness & was well worth it. Will definitely be calling in again when in the area 🥰

We had Sunday lunch here - we both had the smaller portion which was plenty. The food was delicious, especially the rhubarb and apple pie I had for dessert. Lovely food, lovely staff and the place was spotless.

We stayed at Ruswarp Hall down the road. We arrived on a Monday evening and were starving after our drive up! We walked in and found the atmosphere very cosy, there were Halloween decorations up and not many people inside. I had fish and chips, my partner had cheeseburger. The portions were huge and the food was a bit on the pricey side, but the service was faultless.

This is what I call a real pub ..good beer, food and service but beyond that a friendly atmosphere where you can chat,share experiences in front of an open fire. Relax. Wonderful...and that's from a woman on her own. I'll be back

Sunday dinners are amazing best place to go for good food

Wonderful Sunday lunch, my wife is vegetarian and found the produce all made from fresh veg and plentiful, I had the beef which was also very good. I was too full to try the dessert. Will go again even tho 25 miles away.

First of all there is no car parking at this venue so ensure you park on the adjacent road or further back along the road next to the river near where they moor the rowing boats up. The pub is welcoming, often busy and you'll be seated within a few minutes. I can recommend the bottled Cider as this is what I drank on both visits to the pub. The Sunday lunch is excellent, a choice of Beef, Lamb or Pork with all the trimmings. It was very good value for money with enough meat for everyone. You can ask for and get more gravy which is imperative with a Sunday Roast. On the second occasion I had the Mince and Onion pie which was homemade and full of filling. All round excellent.

Not sure where to go I goggled the best Sunday lunches in Whitby,and the Bridge inn was number 1. We where not disappointed. 4 meats to choose,loads of vegetables and 2 type's of potato, lovely light Yorkshire pudding all superb. Didn't really need a dessert the the lady said they where all homemade, I had blackforest gateau, which was to die for . Could not recommend this pub more . It's not fine dining,but that's not what you want when you're having a roast dinner. Thank you for a lovely time

A traditional Sunday lunch. One of the best I've had, make sure you're hungry because the portions are not only delicious but generous and the service with a friendly welcome. Everything was perfect. We can't wait to return.

Down for the weekend popped into the Bridge Inn for evening meal

We have been staying in Ruswarp for years and it wasn’t the same when the pub was closed but what a wonderful experience the new (1 year) owners have made. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and this led to a great interaction between staff and customers alike. The atmosphere was great and we ended visiting every day of our visit. Our 3 labs were made very welcome and we can’t wait to visit again in December. If you like a relaxed friendly environment with pleasant conversation and good beer this is the place for you 🍻

Read online reviews first and found all the positives to be correct .Stayed for a few days in Ruswarp and called in for an evening meal.Food,Staff, service all were excellent,the pub was just an ideal stop for a meal. Just as pubs used to be years ago.

Best Sunday lunch we’ve had in a while Different size portions available with plenty of tasty meat. Great portion of vegetables and gravy. They also were able to sell us an extra portion of roast potatoes. Only managed one dessert between us. Biscoff Cheesecake with ice cream (Amazing) The owners had been there for just a year ad have clearly put their mark on the place. Entertainment provided nearly every night. Would definitely return when we’re here again. Thank you 😊

First visit for me since it’s reopened. Very pleasant staff and a good hearty Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. I especially liked the fact that you can choose a smaller portion so you’re not outfaced or want to leave room for a pudding. The pork was delicious. Lovely pub.

Stopped for lunch Friday 15/9. Outstanding home made beer battered fish goujons, chips and all the trimmings. Great idea serving main courses as lite bites too - still a decent portion. Must mention Sarah the lovely barmaid too - friendly and efficient. Thanks to all involved- good luck with this family venture.

The food was excellent, fresh, service brilliant, well done

We came here on the off-chance there was a spare table. They found us one inside the pub within minutes. We ordered Sirloin steak, fish goujons, and scampi. Food was spot on! We are just about to leave here. If we lived in the area we'd eat here quite regularly. The team are friendly. Place is clean too.

Stayed in the village for a night. This was the only place to eat and what a pleasant surprise. Lovely view from the back terrace. Very fresh food. We both had a different salad. Good selection of reasonably priced beers. Personal and friendly service. Well done.!!!!!

If you love a good steak, eat here! I like mine rare but the waiter recommended blue - great recommendation as it was cooked perfectly! So was everything else, from the lovely chips to the light and crispy onion rings. Wish I lived nearby and wasn't just visiting as I'd eat here more often!
