Popped in during our walk from Sleights to Whitby and we weren't disappointed. We received a warm welcome and our request for a vegan breakfast was catered for by changing items on the vegetarian option resulting in a very tasty and filling meal. Top marks to the staff.

We came to have a drink and eat as we were staying in the village. I am from the area and visiting family. On entry we were given dirty looks by the locals and told rudely that we would have to sit outside for food without even welcoming us or asking what we were there for. It was very much like the pub scene of American werewolf in

We had supper and a pint last night at the Bridge Inn. There are well over 600 google reviews and almost all are five stars. I have no idea what happenned where we where concerned but our experience with the food was awful. I had Pea and Ham Soup and the level of salt was like sucking on an oxo cube. I like salted food but this seemed deliberate. My wifes cheese pannini, was pretty awful. The Moretti was very nice but as I said the food quality was so poor we can not in good conscious ever return. Its a shame because the local people all seemed to be having a marvelous time.

Nipped in for a Sunday roast when we were travelling through - really glad we did! Walking in felt like walking into a proper English pub, people sitting round socialising round a fire enjoying a drink. We had reserved a table in the seating area. All the staff were really friendly and made time for the kids as well. The Sunday menu was very simple, but was really well done, including a great gluten free roast! I gem of a pub!

Pub was lovely and warm on a very cold evening. Staff welcoming & food delicious. Gammon best ever tasted and lasagna again was great. They do small portions ( certainly enough for myself) . We always try to eat here when in Whitby. Good to see most of tables taken too. During summer there is an outdoor seating area which overlooks the train line and estuary.

While staying in Ruswarp over the New Year, my wife and I visited hear most nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was 1st class. We were there on New years Eve and were made very welcome by the locals too. We didn't actually eat there, but the food looked very nice. On New years Eve, we went to an Italian restaurant until around eightish and then went back to The Bridge to see the New Year in. While we were there, the kitchen staff brought out meat pie & peas which looked amazing but we refused them ( not like me to refuse food) as we were stuffed from the Italian. We were greeted and made very welcome again on New years Day for an evening drink even though there were only 6 of us in 2 of which were staff 😀 . A brilliant place for a drink or food

Found this pub on a walk from Whitby to Ruswarp through the woods. It was a cold damp January day and we were met by extremely friendly staff and a roaring fire. We ate here and the food was very good. Had a real traditional feel to it. It was the best Chicken and mushroom pie I'd ever had and I let them know it. Then the chef came out for a chat and told me where to get the meat from (Local butchers in the village) and what spices to put in it, Brilliant.

Had lunch here and was expecting better as other reviewers had been recommending. The scampi and chips was ok but my pie of the day was below average. The pie was mince and onions , the mince was lumpy and the short crust pastry had been microwaved and was very soggy, for the price I would’ve expected better. The service was ok and the beer was excellent.

Lovely village pub. We came along for lunch on a Monday, after walking to the Larpool Viaduct, so it was quiet but had a lovely meal. Staff were great and very accommodating ie if you wanted a smaller portion or slightly different from the menu, they were very happy to serve. Sat in the small conservatory in the sunshine. Lovely outdoor space too. We were surprised, and pleased, that the Yorkshire Moors steam train line runs alongside and the fabulous old steam train passed within 10 metres of the conservatory and beer garden. Took me a while to get round to doing this review but anyway. We visited Whitby for a week in February, we ate out every night and to be honest we really struggled to find anywhere too great which wasn't fish and chips - we had young children so everywhere we went needed to be child friendly, anyway on the last night we decided to try this place The Bridge and I'm pleased to say that it did not disappoint, really friendly staff, child friendly with a great kids menu, great country pub atmosphere and the food was easily the best we'd had that week! Highly recommend visiting this place for a nice meal and a drink if you're ever in Whitby.

A great family run pub that certainly satisfied our stomachs with one of the best Sunday roast dinners my wife and I have had for a very long time. First good point was that we rang them at 5.20pm (on Sunday 7 July 2024) to ask if they were still serving food, the friendly lady said "Yes, up to 6 o'clock" and they had the full range of meats too. So, putting our skates on we drove from our High Normanby camp site to the pub in Ruswarp, and made it 20 minutes later. We had the beef & lamb roast dinners, and, as said above, can honestly say they were absolutely delicious, just like proper home cooking, complete with a separate bowl of leek & cheese sauce. Meat was beautifully tender too. And to top that my wife and I had a pudding each - jam Roly poly and pineapple upside down sponge pudding, both served with an ample jug of custard. Couldn't fault it at all. Even the pub itself is very dog friendly. Great atmosphere. If you're staying nearby, or even within a 10 mile radius, I'd highly recommend you travel to this gem of a pub. You will not be disappointed 😀👍

We booked a table as this was a highly rated place for a roast dinner near Scarborough. I had called ahead and enquired about vegetarian roast dinner options for my girlfriend. On the phone I was assured there were multiple options and although this technically was the case, neither were necessarily the best accompaniments for a roast (stuffed pepper and stuffed pasta). The service was great and we had a lovely table in a corner and the atmosphere was cozy and great. I ordered the beef roast dinner and my girlfriend ordered the stuffed peppers with a roast. The food came relatively quickly. The selection of vegetables was nice and was a welcomed change to have red cabbage and cheesy leeks although they would have been a bit more generous with the portion size as it was to share between the 2 of us. It would have also been nice to have some optional extras on the menu like a portion of cauliflower cheese. The roast dinner also only came with 2 roast potatoes which were really big but would have preferred 3 or 4 smaller ones. It came with a jug of gravy however it was meat gravy and there was not a vegetarian alternative but luckily my girlfriends stuffed peppers were quite saucy so her dinner wasn't dry. My beef was nice however it was slightly chewy and could have been hotter coming out and was only kept warm by hot gravy. Bit of an irrelevant side note but the loos were really nice! Everything else was really lovely and we did have a nice meal and I appreciate it is a small country pub in Scarborough but if you advertise as vegetarian friendly then I think it needs to follow through fully - for example being advised they don't have a veggie gravy upon ordering the dinner or even having a veggie alternative. I'm sorry to be negative, especially when we did have such a lovely time (hence the 4 stars) bu my girlfriend has been vegetarian for 5 years and situations like these feel very frustrating and easily avoidable if staff are more aware and informed.
