Great Meal had on the 17th December 2024 Decent price for the fish and chips but £2.20 for a bottle of pop 😳 that’s only 69p in home bargains Apart from that, Nice large portion, that big I even left some, Not like me at all Would go again if in the area

We dined in at this location, the haddock and chips was lovely. The view outside the window sitting upstairs is very pretty. The price of the food was good and the portion sizes are also great. I would recommend this location and will be back again!

When visiting Scarborough always go to The Fish Pan. Lovely staff and lovely food. Fish is cooked to perfection with nice crispy batter and nice white flakes. Can't fault the place.

We called yesterday cooking to order so all fresh we had the biggest sausage n chips I've ever seen in my life we shared 1 portion n curry sauce n we were both full, service was quick n v friendy both blokes were extremely nice we always go here portion size huge n price is very good 👍 highly recommended.

Staff were friendly and helpful when serving tonight. Other chippys on the front were closing early but these were happy to stay open to serve people. I also enjoyed their chips. Perfect before a 2 hour drive home.

Great food and value was ever good. Footlong sausage chips and a side was £7.95 and really filled me up. It’s right on the sea front so you can watch the sea and eat your food. Service was fast and efficient. Great

We chose the famous fish pan for a fish and chip lunch based on its good reviews. We were not disappointed. 'Trinity' on the first floor of the restaurant found us a window table looking out onto the south bay and service was excellent. She advised me to have the special and save money and my wife had the pensioners special. Table all very clean and our meals arrived within a couple of minutes. Huge piece of cod in batter... properly drained and loads of big cut chips. mushy peas in a pot. Reviewers are correct about the value for money portions and I wondered how I was going to manage a dinner at the hotel later. 'Trinity' was a great server, clean, very pleasant to talk to, quick and efficient. She is an asset to the restaurant. Highly recommended restaurant and make sure you leave them a well derserved tip!

Decent fish & chips in the resteraunt upstairs. Reasonably priced and good portions. Really pleasant staff, seating upstairs or downstairs, or opt for takeaway. Food and drink was hot and good, good selection too.

We have been to the Fish Pan for lunch today. We can't visit Scarborough without a visit. A lovely meal, pleasant surroundings and very obliging waitress. A little gem of a place in Scarborough. Recommend.

I love going to the fish pan everytime we come over it only place I go when I come over

My wife and I had a wonderful day out and ended it in Scarborough where we decided to grab some fish and chips. At the time of day that we got there not much was open so choice was limited. However we chose this one as it was near to where we were parked and also noticed everything was being cooked to order and also had a large queue which is always a good indication of a good chippy. We both ordered fish and chips, mine being the biggest fish and also came with a pot of curry sauce. The food was amazing, so fresh and tasty. The batter on the fish wasn't oily and had a good crunch to it. The chips were nice and fat and were perfectly cooked. As for the curry sauce, it has to be some of the best that I have ever tasted. We both agreed it was the best. The staff were extremely friendly and asking for scraps on top of everything else was no problem to them. I highly recommend this chippy.

Hard to find good fish and chips but when I ate here I ate every single bite better than Papas in Cleethorpes, tasty food, love the cosy little cafe vibe, when you sit upstairs near the window as well you have the best view of the beach! The quality of food is brilliant, the service is great and love the atmosphere! Keep it up whatever you are doing here! Great staff! With the fish and chips as well you can choose from a cola or a hot drink, mushy peas or curry and you get some bread and butter all for £13.95

Shocking miserable rude and downright horrible service from the minute we got here to the 10 mins waiting for the most ill mannered rude and nasty waitress to treat us like something she scraped off her shoe!!! . at the time of writing i am still in a state of shock and disbelief at how we were treated especially my japanese friend who was visting this resteraunt on my reccomendation.

Stopped by to experience the famous fish and chips of Scarborough and I was not disappointed. The fried haddock was perfect and I’m not generally a fish eater. The chips were nice and squishy with a crispy outside and the best part was our waitress. Charlee, thank you for your kindness and conversation. The Fishpan is really going to miss you when you soon move to Newcastle! Good luck to you, pretty lady! Love from your American visitors.

Tasted fine at the time but very expensive for what it was. Got the worst food poisoning from here. If you value your stomach, your wallet or your toilet, steer well clear. In reply to the comment from the owners asking me to get in touch and saying "it's a very serious accusation," please provide an email address and I will happily do so. However, if you want specifics, here you go. We attended Friday 26th at 19.20pm. I ordered fish and chips, the person with me ordered a kids meal. Prior to this we'd eaten a cheese sandwich and an apple each. Nothing else. So the only thing that could have made us ill was the food there. I'm not going to go to the extent of providing all the gory details as your customers don't need that, and I am more than sure this was just a one off, but unfortunately I can only go and base my opinion off of the service received. And unfortunately this was not great. I wish you luck for the future and I hope others visiting enjoy the food, but we will not be returning.

Visited Sunday around 2pm, sat straight away and order taken after about five minutes. Food arrived ten/fifteen minutes after ordering. Huge portions, lovely taste and quality food - we enjoyed as much as we could eat which wasn't quite the whole thing! Staff were very friendly and attentive, with both ourselves and all other customers who were there Total bill was £34 for two specials and three large drinks which we felt was good value for money

Don't think you will find a better place than this in Scarborough a must for any holiday makers/day trippers

On a day trip to Scarborough this is best place to have fish and chips

The Fish Pan is our go-to chippy in Scarborough because they do "The Bigboy Special" - a giant haddock with chips and peas, and we share it as a couple, as it's perfectly portioned for two, and much cheaper than getting two regular meals. The fish is always cooked to order, battered perfectly, moist, flaky and delicious. The chips are very nice, the second best I would say after The Lifeboat, and portions are lovely and large! The staff can vary between stoic and marginally friendly, but when you're taking out it's not that big of a deal. Service is really fast and well organised, even when people are queuing up the street, which they often are! A great place for your lunch!

Good sized portions for the price. A little noisy but that's to be expected with how busy it was.

Extra large haddock chips & mushy peas in upstairs restaurant excellent

Didn’t get the chance to sit down and eat. Staff member was rude. Explained I was disabled and had a disability lanyard and to please explain what she was saying as she wasn’t making any sense. Ended up leaving and going elsewhere. Reply: Only 2 other people in who where sat together at the same table. I tried talking to your staff member after she mumbled at me for 2 minutes. When I finally was able to explain politely “Do I get up and order or do you take the order” she again wasn’t clear or concise and was telling me about the takeaway side. I wasn’t ordering from the takeaway side. I simply wanted to sit down and eat which I explained again. She “said you can’t sit down and eat in this side” I don’t know why I wasn’t able too because tables where free and no one was waiting other than us and my daughter and my wife who was looking at the fish sizes. A simple ‘A to Z’ brief was more A to F to N to Y back to A again. I showed her the bright green land yard which is for everyone’s benefit not just mine I don’t like wearing it. I went outside and said to my wife , let’s go elsewhere. If your staff and yourself are ignorant to certain disabilities you shouldn’t be trading. I couldn’t tell if she was just that vacuous or mocking me. All she had to was say “hi , please be seated and I will take your order / order at the counter. If you aren’t eating in the restaurant we have the takeaway next door” Doesn’t take a PhD in hospitality.

We had a lovely fish and chips dinner here. The service was amazing and the staff were so helpful and thorough. Wonderful to enjoy some great food with a great seaview, can't wait to come back one day!

Very busy but we'll worth the visit huge portions of tasty food

Had take away from here yesterday, food Brilliant as usual. My husband would come just for the curry sauce. Only let down yesterday was the very rude and unpleasant girl serving at 5pm.She had got mixed up with an order but despite me saying nicely that the food she was insisting was ours was not carried on pointing at my family saying the ordered this. When she Eventually admitted she was wrong turned on me and was rude and accused me of laughing at her ....which I was not. I apologised to her despite doing nothing wrong. I left feeling very upset by her actions. Food was excellent, service unpleasant

Amazing food, £16 for 2 chips a fish and a battered jumbo sausage at the seaside was amazing quality and then we saw the massive portions and how fresh the chips were🤤🤤 I’m still dreaming of this place and the man who served us was amazingly friendly

When visiting Scarborough this is our fish and chip shop of choice. We had a window seat on the top floor. The staff were fantastic. We had haddock, chips, curry/peas, bread and pot of tea for £13.95. The food was outstanding. The curry sauce was fruity and tasty. My partner had mushy peas that were equally as good

Was in the area and came here on a recommendation. Was on a Sunday evening, and the weather was good, so parking nearby was murder as the area was really busy, so we just parked further away and walked down. We decided to eat in and was given a lovely window seat looking over the beach and sea. Table service and our order was taken fairly quickly. It took a fair while to get the food as it was busy but well worth the wait. We had the meal deal and fish and chips was really nice. Another place we will come again if ever in the area.

Visited Sunday night, no issues Visited today, unfortunately one of the (brunette) waitresses was very reluctant to serve us and had to be prompted by her colleague (tall blonde) who was observed by my husband saying ‘aren’t you going to serve us?’ A table that sat down after us got their orders taken before us. She then gave attitude about coming over to us and didn’t bring cutlery over - how do we eat salad without a fork? No apologies or acknowledgement was forthcoming so the blonde one took over our table after I raised a complaint. To be fair we were offered extra drinks etc but we refused. I wouldn’t like to go as far and say she was racist but it did feel that way.

7th Aug 2024, Me my wife and my son attended yesterday after. We come previously in April for the first time and every thing was fine back then. So thought lets go back You have a female member of staff there that is a proper Grump, and rude.. She's Mid to late 30s hair in bun, wearing black nike trainers with white tick. We waited 15+ mins once seated to have our order taken.. I know it was busy but you wasn't at full capacity. The mardy one came and her attitude was bad.. Food was good, was told no cod only haddock. But after waiting haddock will do. We like to support local chippy's and thought we found our Scarborough Fav, but just short of £50 for a fish supper, its not a small amount, don't need a poor attitude as a side No thanks.. Think we will Try a different one on the strip next Time. thanks

Went for fish n chips and it was delicious , huge helping, n mushy peas / beans had the special with a drink n bread n butter couldn't fault it and the desserts were on for 2 for £7 choc fudge cake n ice cream n lemon meringue pie n custard . Amazing food amazing value

Excellent value for money - fed 3 adults and 4 children for less than £40 (using BlueLight) including 3 lots of fish, chips and mushy peas. Good portion sizes, lovely staff and didn’t have to wait long

Fast service even though they were very busy. Food was cooked lovely (Haddock chips & peas). may be a bit pricey but for what you. get this included hot drink and bread n butter I thought was well worth it. Hats off the waitress great kind considerate service well done and thanks

The Fish and chips did not disappoint

On the seafront. It's quite small with seating both downstairs and upstairs. Had haddock, chips and mushy peas with bread and butter and a glass of cola, which was a meal deal. It didn't disappoint. The fish was cooked perfectly as were the chips and the mushy peas were tasty. The portions were large and I couldn't finish it. I'd definitely recommend this place and there's a good view out of the window.

A firm family favourite. Fish and chips were excellent, all freshly cooked to order. Portion size was great too. Most of the indoor seating is upstairs but there are some tables downstairs too. Staff were friendly and service was quick (allowing for fresh cooking). Only mystery is: Where do you get your in house diluting juice from???? It's gorgeous

You would hardly believe that this is a restaurant/cafe right on the sea front, as I expected the prices to be astronomical, however I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a foot long battered sausage with chips and gravy, all for only £7.95!! With friendly staff, great service, beautiful food and extremely cost efficient I will definitely be going back. Keep up the fantastic work.

We stopped in for fish and chips and chose this place on a whim. It's right at the seafront and the prices are really reasonable, portion sizes are huge - we could have shared one between us if our eyes hadn't been bigger than our bellies ! The fish was crispy and perfectly fried, the chips were not at all greasy, classic chip shop chips. The service was very friendly, fast and efficient. Highly recommended.

We loved it here. The cost is very fair and the portions are huge. We got fish and chips each with was hot and fresh. We both got the curry sauce which was amazing and a pot of tea each. The lady who served us was so kind and friendly and gave our little girl Crayons and bubbles. The only downside I would say is space particularly if you have a pram but the staff helped as much as they could. Will most definitely be returning.
