Food so bad even the dog turned its nose up. We ordered a selection of dim sum and 2 mains, the dim sum were like rubber and tasteless the salt and pepper squid were so salty they were awful. The mains were just grey glue in a tub. Paid £50 just to throw it in the bin. So many better places to eat avoid this one

We were staying in Griffon forest, we were invited to the first night of the new restaurant opening. My husband and I have been to Tykes on many occasions,we try to go on a Wednesday night as it used to be steak night £37 for 2 steaks. Good job we got the offer of 50% off as the Menu was very expensive. The food itself was very nice, but we were shocked on the price. There is no way I would pay £32 for a steak. Our bill came to £41 that's with 50% off and drinks were a coke and a rum and coke, no starters. We will not be returning again.....

We ordered cod & chips to take back to our holiday cottage for tea and was shocked to see that we had been given frozen chips which is something I've never heard or experienced before in any chippie ( please don't let this become the norm ) and the fish wasn't much better, again frozen but that's excepable as long as the fish is of good quality this fish wasn't. So overall not a good experience and i would go again.

Christ what a dump. Dingy. Nice if you’re into sky sports. Thought we would try an alternative to the George and dragon and tempted by the beer garden (very nice and with great potential in summer) so tried a pint of bitter. Now I see why everyone was drinking lager. In Yorkshire ffs! One swallow to see how nice it was. Another to see it was really as bad as the first. No 3rd swig. Vinegar. Clueless cellar management. Taste what you’re serving. Wouldn’t put it on chips. The rest went down a convenient geranium pot. Hope it survives. Vile. Not into confrontation so just left and went to the George and dragon for a delicious pint or 2 of theakston’s best. Avoiding the black swan where someone with TB was coughing his guts up in the smoking area. Avoid both would be my shout.

Staff very pleasant and lovely meal. Only offering a limited 'early in the year' menu but we both found something we liked. Lovely starter of Korean chicken skewers and very nice sea bass main. Portion size was good. No room for puds. Fixed price 2/3 course menu was v good value for money I felt. Haven't been for a while but always had a very positive experience and very nice food, even the time when we walked in and I had managed to book a Crown and Cushion in another part of the country! They were very helpful and found room for us and didn't make a fuss about it at all.

We dined here on two consecutive evenings. The first on Tuesday 22nd February was very good in regards to food, menu and service. However the following day's service and menu was very disappointing. Many items on the menu at 6.30pm, were unavailable. After waiting 30 minutes for service the food delivered was not as described I.e. the pilau rice was actually white sticky rice and the yoghurt included with the dish never arrived. Very disappointing.

This place used to be amazing. Unfortunately it is now a run down poor excuse of its former self. We pulled into the car park almost sure that the restaurant had closed down. The place looked in a state of disrepair with paint falling of the walls and window frames. We were just about to leave when a member of staff came out and assured us they were open. Dubiously we went in, remembering how great it used to be. Inside, the decor was not much better, it was very tired, in need of some TLC and investment but as we were the only people in the place I guess that investment won't be coming any time soon as this place cannot possibly be trading very much longer unless it survives on take-away trade. Upon taking our drinks order, we were disappointed to be informed that they had no beer (draught or bottled) so had soft drinks. Unfortunately the disappointment didn't stop there as when our main courses came out, one was inedible and the other extremely salty to the point where it was only just edible. To be fair, the staff did offer to replace both of our meals, but we felt that the damage was done and just wanted to leave. I would strongly recommend you avoid this place, it is certainly not what it used to be. Such a huge shame.

Shown to a table and given a menu and then ignored. Staff served three tables who were seated after us and did not attempt acknowledge us. We felt priority was given to people who staff knew over and above other customers. Won’t be trying there again. Weren’t even acknowledged as we left disappointed.
