Christ what a dump. Dingy. Nice if you’re into sky sports. Thought we would try an alternative to the George and dragon and tempted by the beer garden (very nice and with great potential in summer) so tried a pint of bitter. Now I see why everyone was drinking lager. In Yorkshire ffs! One swallow to see how nice it was. Another to see it was really as bad as the first. No 3rd swig. Vinegar. Clueless cellar management. Taste what you’re serving. Wouldn’t put it on chips. The rest went down a convenient geranium pot. Hope it survives. Vile. Not into confrontation so just left and went to the George and dragon for a delicious pint or 2 of theakston’s best. Avoiding the black swan where someone with TB was coughing his guts up in the smoking area. Avoid both would be my shout.

With its beamed ceilings and small L-shaped bar the White Swan has a nice, cosy feel to it and on a quiet evening, when both pubs were almost empty, we much preferred the White Swan to the Black Swan across the road. We enjoyed pleasant service and ditto re the beers. PS - we also had a pint in the George and Dragon, but as that is a bit of a “foodie” pub, I don’t really count it in such comparisons.

Lovely little pub, really friendly. Dave landlord was so nice to talk to, along with the locals. Husband said guiness was very good, he should know!! I tried the Aspell cider which was lovely!!

Homely, locals pub with a welcome for visitors too. Small but with character. Good staff. It's buzzing when the local foot team are in. Oh and great real ale :0)

Best beer in town and friendly service. Cash only accepted. Large beer garden and friendly customers. Only downside was the Covid security. It's no good having sanitiser and a signing in book but absolutely no attempt to enforce any social distancing. This applied to both staff & punters. There was little or no distance between people from different households and several people standing at the bar by the "No standing at the bar" sign unchallenged. Didn't feel safe so left after 1 drink.

I live in Derby, and 2 or 3 times a year stop near Kirkbmoorside. We don't go to any other pub other than The White Swan. We're always recognised and given a warm welcome. Try it, you'll go back again for sure? 👍

Wonderful pub in a great location. Booked here on Sunday for a family reunion. Excellent choice of food with generous helpings. Would thoroughly recommend the steak pie. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Can't wait to return - I would recommend to all

We didn't stay, so I can't comment on the rooms. The service and locals are friendly at this local pub. They have a good range of refreshments and the food looks good. I haven't eaten here recently, so I can only comment on what I have seen. I love the town and surrounding area.

Went for breakfast with hubby the grumpy elderly man cooking who was the manager wasn't happy because I wanted scrambled egg on my cooked breakfast instead of fried, when they did arrive he deliberately gave my hubby scrambled when he asked for fried and the egg was pure sloppy, watery undercooked ,the sausage were extremely cheap . We wasn't offered any sauce . I ate the bacon and nothing else. We will never visit there again.
