Great food and service from the staff. Really enjoyed my meal here. I had the black pudding to start and fillet beef for main. Looking forward to my next visit already!

We have eaten here many times when we have been in the North. We had booked a table for Sunday evening and had the usual friendly welcome and were soon seated. We placed our orders and as our food was coming out so was the kitchen. Not quite sure what was happening but various items form the kitchen hardware, pots, pans, electrical appliances etc were being manufactured handled out and been placed in the room just off the bar and round the bar area. Perhaps they were decorating or doing a thorough clean (which is great), but not whilst there are paying customers trying to enjoy an evening.

Absolutely great quality food cooked exceptionally well. I would happily shake hands with the chef who cooked the fabulous meals on the two occasions I dined there. Here is a pub that is thriving and deserves to do so. The service, atmosphere and food was second to none. It’s clear the chef has a passion for food as the taste and delivery was very well thought out and balanced beautifully. Highly recommend one visits this traditional pub for a meal that will be remembered for all the good reasons

Lovely country pub with first class Sunday dinners and puds. The puds were as good as we've had on some tasting menus back home in Manchester 🙂

Situated in a lovely North Yorkshire village. We sat outside to have Sunday roast. The air conditioning unit blew out warm air from which we couldn't escape. Generous helping of home-aged beef which was a bit un-tasty. Very good vegetables but sadly the roast potatoes tasted reheated and not freshly roasted.

Although we didn't eat .the food we saw being served smelt and poked amazing . .

Tony, his wife and all of his staff were excellent. Extremely welcoming to us southerners. We stayed three nights. The room outstanding. A four poster bed filled the room, which was scrupulously clean. Tea and coffee in the room. Enough for countless cups of whichever beverage you required, tea or coffee. Known brands. The restaurant, what can I say...every meal without exception outstanding. Nothing too much trouble. Would we come again, in a heartbeat.

This came recommended as a place to visit and we were not disappointed. Despite it been a busy Friday night the staff were helpful and accommodating. The food was outstanding and the venue is as expected for the area, superb.

Had a fantastic evening with amazing food. Definitely worth a trip. The prawn starter was amazing. The steaks were perfectly cooked and so juicy and delicious. The dessert was phenomenal.

We booked for a family meal as we were staying nearby and the food, service and atmosphere were excellent. A little more than we would normally spend but well worth it.

Visited with my wife for lunch and had a truly memorable meal. We both opted for one of the specials on offer, Lamb Rump. Both were cooked to perfection and followed by a delicious dessert, I had sticky Toffee Pudding, my wife had a Steamed Lemon Sponge. The prices charged are at the higher end of the scale but we will certainly return as it was well worth it

Called for Sunday lunch after a good walk, what a treat it was. One of the best Sunday roasts we have had in an along time, the beef was outstandingly good. We will definitely be back!

Amazing gluten free roast, with Yorkshire puds !

A very nice pub in cool area. We hadn't booked but they were friendly and found us a table we could use for an hour. Food was great. Service efficient and spot on. Drinks came quickly. Price was reasonable. A good all round performance. Highly recommended

We visited here on a Saturday night, not too busy. Modern clean decor and a country pub. We ordered the lamb kofta for starters with salad and sweet chilli, was very nice. We got a fillet steak and a rib eye steak for main, fillet was much better than rib eye, found it quite fatty. Came with chips, tomato, mushroom and onion rings. All very nice. Sauces were a bit runny. Wines very nice although almost £10 a glass. Pudding we got sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and ice cream which was also nice. The only thing that I would mark down on was the friendliness of the staff. Wasn’t bubbly, no real friendly feel, smiling, laughing just felt a bit poor on the service side. Overall I would recommend and I would visit again.

Wow this is a real find. Busy so make sure you book. Superb food and great choice. Loved it. It was over £200 for 6 with drinks and most had 3 courses.

We wanted somewhere not too expensive to meet up for mums birthday lunch. Fairly quiet when we arrived but soon got busier with a great biz for a pub nowadays. So you need to book. We soon found out why. Great choice on the menu with specials board aswell. Lovely setting in the pub. Food was everything we expected and liked the importance of veg on their descriptions. Sweet selection also good and tastes homemade rather than bought in. We had a variety of starters, mains of burgers, sea bass, lamb shank to finish with raspberry mouse and sticky toffee.

I was advised that this was a great place to go for Sunday Lunch over four years ago. I only managed to visit this weekend and what a great experience it was. There was l lovely log fire as we entered the pub, we decided to pass on starters and go straight to main courses, I went for the roast beef and was surprised to be asked how I liked my beef cooked, I said rare if possible and one of our friends asked for hers medium. The other two went for the roast leg of lamb. When it came, it was beautiful rare sirloin of beef, our friend had perfect medium beef and the others had ample portions of tender lamb. A good selection of nicely cooked vegetables, everything was just perfect! I just managed a sticky toffee pudding which was also delicious! We will definitely be back, it won’t take 4 years this time!

Had a lovely meal here, staff were excellent and could not do enough to help and were clearly very busy, but so polite. The dishes we had were excellent although disappointed in the Pastrami starter which just had some very limp rocket and the pastrami was tasteless. However all other dishes were excellent. There was however a very obnoxious old man with a walking stick in who was clearly a regular and just vulgar how he spoke to the staff and the demands he was making. He was clearly well known and clearly thinks he can act how he wants.

Four of us called for Sunday lunch I had the pork . Lots of fresh veg very nice roast potatoes and the crackling was spot on . All very good and a generous portion. 😊 😋

Steak was top notch and much cheaper than you would expect. And a great place to hang out.

10/10 on food and service, lovely charming pub and the food is top quality we ordered two steaks and they were both cooked to perfection and very large portions will definitely make this our local now

We enjoyed a lovely meal with our friends. My Pork Loin was excellent and my wife's Steak Pie was a truly good pie. The puds were pretty good as well!

Went for lunch on a Saturday on the spur of the moment. We were accommodated without a problem but would strongly recommend booking in advance. Food was excellent as always, this place has a great reputation which is highly deserved.

This was our first visit after a recommendation and we weren’t disappointed. I’m a bit of a steak and ale pie expert and wow it was fabulous. Husband had the fish and chips and he said it was excellent. Very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Sat in the beer garden as we had 2 dogs and they were made welcome aswell. We arrived without a reservation on a busy Sunday lunchtime. Despite our needs being small - no roast dinner wanted - they found somewhere for us to sit. They were as welcoming as if we'd ordered two dinners. Very nice outside seating area too. Food really nice and another time we'll have more!

Terrific food, great quality short rib, attention to detail immaculate. Steaks not only cooked perfectly and great cuts, but massive too. Desserts delicious. Wine lovely and not overpriced. Service pretty much perfect, not over fussy but attentive and careful. The whole place gave the vibe of a restaurant that takes its food very seriously, but doesn’t take itself too seriously. Would recommend 100%.

Arguably one of the best if not the best Sunday lunches in North Yorkshire. Also very reasonably priced. They do their beef nice and pink.

Visited last night for the first time , on recommendation drove 30 miles to try the food WOW absolutely fantastic highly recommended the ribeye steak and beef starter was delicious, I eat out a lot all over the place , this is probably in my top 3 rating as good as Michelin star venues ..well done to all very friendly staff too .

We visit the pub as we have friends in the village and every time we do, we get so jealous that they have such an exceptional pub on their doorstep. The service is brilliant, the atmosphere is great and the food is amazing. There are cheaper pubs out there but treat yourself, you won't regret it !!

We went for Sunday lunch to celebrate a 4th birthday. The food was really good (the roast beef I had was great), vegetables you can taste and bite, plus flavoursome gravey. No room for a dessert, but the others did 😀
