Mothers' Day: what a way to spoil the day. We arrived and waited for our allotted time. We were sat and we waited and we waited. We actually waited 55 minutes before the food arrived. On arrival my wife (who's Mothers' Day meal it was) received a frankly cold meal. It was taken away and reheated (allegedly) to approaching tepid. My Sunday Lunch would have been okay if I'd ordered a child's portion! The bill received I gave my feedback. The manager stated the kitchen was busy; so? They took the booking after all. A percentage was taken off the bill but I gained the distinct impression the manager felt this had resolved everything. I wanted a good experience at full price because a reduced priced bad experience is still bad. We shall not be back and we are local!

A very nice takeaway, very friendly staff, my wife doesn’t like onions, so they make the dish without onions, I like mine extra spicy, and that’s how they make it.just ask, they will help. Very tasty food, nice flavours. SADLY SHANGHAI PALACE, HAVE NOW CLOSED, WE WISH THEM ALL THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE.

We came using a voucher we had from our wedding three courses including wine the service was quick and friendly starters were nice garlic mushrooms and Stilton and broccoli soup and we both opted for beef for main with a lovely red wine gravy we asked for a breather for pudding and received a nice selection of cheese and biscuits and also New York cheesecake …the restaurant area is intimate and I would certainly try either an evening meal which would have cost £35 pp three courses which I think is good value or Sunday lunch

What an awful experience! I called in with my Daughter and Niece for a drink and a snack. My daughter chose a diet coke and some brownies. My Niece wanted a fruit shoot and some pringles. We paid for them and as we were walking away my 4 year old niece wanted to sit down to drink her drink and eat her snack. I don't even know how to convey how embarrassed you made us feel when you came over to us and announced ... "I didn't realise you were eating inside! You can't eat the brownies in here or I'd have charged you more"! At the time.... There were only 2 more tables of customers. So not like you even needed the room l! I had no idea there was a difference in price and you embarrassed me so much I purchased a coffee, just so I could wait for my niece and daughter to eat their snack! I have NEVER been somewhere and made to feel so embarrassed ever and I will NEVER come back. Neither will my Mum, who often comes in with her grandchildren. Do better!

Having not long moved back to the village we used the Grove as a starting point when we were meeting friends. The place appeared very run down and is in need of serious renovation. The other customers looked in need of renovation too Our friends could not park, we were told the car park is for management and people staying. In a village where other establishments are making a real effort the Grove is letting the side down

The kitchen has closed a while back, but the variation of ales are great, and ossetts prices are low.

We moved in the area yesterday 11/11/24 and being a Monday evening there wasn’t many local restaurants open we had been recommended The Palace Tandoori by our new neighbours and have to say wasn’t disappointed we received a very warm welcome the restaurant was nice and cosy too which makes a difference free papad and a spicy yoghurt sauce I ordered sheik kabab two nicely sized meaty kabab fairly spicy with a salad side garlic chilli 🌶️ chicken and chicken masala three garlic chapati good size portions served on piping hot plates always a bonus friendly staff

Small portions, Peshwari naan had no flavour to it, Lamb tikka masala had the tiniest scraps of fatty meat in it. Never again. Not a patch on Maxis.

Just ordered pizzas and chicken fish tikka, came very quickly, nice and hot and really tasty. Thank you.

Food was delicious, the driver was brilliant and arrived much quicker than expected. He was really helpful as I wasn't actually home it had come so fast and he was worried the food would be cold so kept it warm for me and then returned later with another fee pizza. The first pizza was already perfect so this was very kind and generous. Will definitely order again.

Had our Grandsons first birthday party here on Sat the 25th, what a great little pub/venue, perfect for the 25 invited guests, all staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, the bar team had changed shifts by the time we left so could thank personally, so thought I'd do it here. The only complaint I have is that I live too far away to have this as my local. Thank you highly recommend!

I stopped on a cold, rainy day, in between a visit to the physiotherapy clinic and a 'falls prevention workshop' opposite, and was delighted! I'd almost despaired of getting a really good flat white in Huddersfield, and boy was it strong! Accompanied by a lovely piece of flapjack, brought to my table. Couldn't have been nicer. Might have been a quiet day, but most of the tables were taken. I genuinely thought 'What a nice place'.
