Palace Tandoori in Kirklees

It’s 5:30 AM, and I’ve just stumbled off the toilet—that says it all. The quality of food was appalling, exactly what you’d expect from a takeaway serving late night drunks - only well presented. Being the only Asian person in the restaurant, I felt like asking the Team, “would you eat such food at home, or is it exclusively for your customers?” As someone of Asian heritage, it was painfully obvious that the starters and curries came straight from packets and tubs, mixed and reheated. It’s shocking that people are being served rubbish.

We've used this takeaway for a number of years however over the past 6; months the deliverys have been lax to be polite,the food is usually cold ,late and underwhelming there are better delivered Currys out there like solos

This Indian food was the best I've ever had,the fish panoramic starter was beautiful and the chicken paneer curry was the best curry I've had,the staff are lovely too

Had a takeaway from here this week and it was amazing. I had the vegetable bhuna and plain naan. Such good food. My partner had the chicken madras and the sauce was really tasty and had a good kick!

Naan bread was lacking flavour, the mains dish tastes od vinegar and the customer service was rubbish. Us being there seemed to be inconvenient.

We moved in the area yesterday 11/11/24 and being a Monday evening there wasn’t many local restaurants open we had been recommended The Palace Tandoori by our new neighbours and have to say wasn’t disappointed we received a very warm welcome the restaurant was nice and cosy too which makes a difference free papad and a spicy yoghurt sauce I ordered sheik kabab two nicely sized meaty kabab fairly spicy with a salad side garlic chilli 🌶️ chicken and chicken masala three garlic chapati good size portions served on piping hot plates always a bonus friendly staff

Had a takeaway. The food was very poor in general. The King Prawn Korma was very watery with little flavour, the Peshawari nan's were very bready again with little flavour and the onion bhajis were flat and disgusting with very little onion in. The rest was mediocre. I will not be returning there!

I honestly don’t understand how this place has a decent rating. Either the community has no taste buds or the chefs have done something wrong. First of all, the price for the quality is ridiculous. I ordered korma sauce, not custard - in the image it shows the colour. It was like water and did not taste like curry at all. The chips somehow tasted like sick - I don’t even know how that’s possible. I honestly spent £25 for two of us, for what? Home bargains meal deals are less frightening. Whatever you do, don’t eat here. If you have and left a great review, please travel more to renew your taste buds.

Great night at the Palace celebrating my daughter’s graduation. Food and service were on point as ever. BYOB too which always keeps the costs down. Highly recommend this gem in Denby Dale.

First time visit early Friday evening, its BYOB which we hadn't realised but soon remedied with a quick trip to the off licence. Food was lovely, service good and unobtrusive. Very good value for money we will be making repeat visits in the future.

Fabulous meal here with good friends. We shared a prawn starter and poppadoms plus pickle tray and then tucked into various chicken dishes including a hot madras. Tried a little of each and they were all very tasty. Brought our own drinks as the venue is unlicenced. Staff were very welcoming and service was fast and friendly despite the restaurant being busy when we visited. Highly recommended for a first class experience. They also do takeaway from next door.

First time ordering. Rang and ordered a vindaloo and kindly asked that they make sure it’s spicy. As some takeaways hold back on the spice. Picked it up after driving 20 mins there and 20 mins home. The most bland, mild “vindaloo” I’ve ever had. How an Indian restaurant think it’s acceptable to serve such poor food is beyond me. Waste of time and money. I’ve had spicier tikka masalas. This was even creamy! Will never return or recommend. The rice was also just boiled rice with egg, no herbs or onions or anything like PROPER Indian restaurants serve. Could tell as soon as I opened it was going to be poor quality.

Had a meal last night in the restaurant, mixed starter ok but let down by soggy double cooked onion bhajis .Main meal of chicken kharai good except pilau rice a little greasy ?. Chapattis ok but prefer thin ones . Dessert of pistachio kulfi very good . Overall a good evening & would go back .

Great place for a curry. We really enjoyed it. It's worth noting that the restaurant doesn't sell alcohol. The good news is that you can take your drinks in. Just courteously take your empties home with you.

Good food and cleanliness, excellent service from Mr T, nothing too much trouble. Atmosphere very easy and relaxing. All in all a lovely restaurant

I have been eating out at palace for years now, I have no idea why it is so lackadaisical now , no one seems interested in if you want a dessert, coffee etc ! It used to be such a nice friendly place , bring back Adam ! Most of the staff like there phones instead of seeing if the customers are happy , come on Palace let’s get back to what it used to be like !!!

Absolutely love their curries and their peswari naan. The delivery guy is always super friendly too.

I have had better. The restaurant is pleasant, well decorated (if not a bit on the dark side for reading the menu) and the staff were very attentive. But the food was lacking and real authentic flavour or freshness I was disappointed all round the starters lacked seasoning and the main was over salty, but the main lacked any real flavour and I do not know why, but it was easy to tell everything was prepared well in advance and just reheated. Suffice to say we will not be back.

Great evening out. Been nicely re-decorated since our last visit, but the food remains fantastic.

Good for Takeout. Often order from here as it has an easy-to-use pay online service that works a bit like Just Eat etc. You can see when your order has been accepted - cooking - delivery. Our order arrived before estimated delivery time. It can be hit and miss on flavour but last two orders have been satisfying.

Very disappointed. Ordered via the website, as usual. The order did not arrive after 50 minutes, as expected. Rang, to be told the order hadn't arrived with them! Rubbish. We saw the delivery guy outside, after 45 minutes, he never called here....... Make what you will. Re ordered. Total wait over 2 hours. Food was tepid, lacking in taste and meat! with loads of brightly coloured rice... wierd! More disappointment. Goodness knows what happened tonight, never had a rubbish order from Palace Tandoori till tonight. Not even a poppadom as an apology!,! They must try harder. Back to Solo's it is.

Very nice food but the new app they have done is absolutely rubbish the boss needs to sort it as it keeps crashing ive mentioned it several times but still the same come on you are letting your selves down

Ordered food on Saturday 26th of September chips were cold burgers were cold and horrible never again. .

We have been going for over twenty years and have never had a bad meal. There are plenty of gods curry places but this one is brilliant.

I’ve lived in the local area for over 15 years now and never tried the Palace Tandori. Opted to try their takeaway on Saturday night and was very, very impressed with the quality of the curries, as too were all of the family. Beautifully cooked food and not dripping in oil, which is why I usually stay away from Indian takeaways - Can’t believe I’ve not eaten their food before! We will return soon

We recently moved to the area and found the Indian take aways to be a bit hit and miss. However, at last, we have found a gem! A vast menu, speedy service, helpful staff and, most importantly, really yummy food! We will be returning without doubt! Thank you.

Got a take away from here, a starter, popodums, 3 curries, rice and naan. Was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be ordering again!

What can I say? Best takeaway meal we've had in a while. The mixed sizzler for 2 was fab. The fish was wonderful. As was everything! The mains, chicken tikka masala and garlic chilli chicken, were beautiful. The sauces, for both, were both fabulous. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was not dry. The rice was great and chapattis were soft and delicious. We will be ordering again. Oh and the delivery was early... Bonus!

What has happened here ? Been using Palace for years. Our last order, the pizza was wrong and rest of order cold. This order, curry and sides missing. Took over 100 attempts to speak to someone to sort it. If you order through website you have to contact Channel Islands for a refund. ABSOLUTE JOKE !

Oh my! What a busy place - absolutely crammed in a Saturday night! BUT you understand why when you taste the food! Palak Paneer- fabulous, mushroom rice - very mushroomy . Lamb rogan Josh and lamb Kharai all very delicious . Staff were polite, attentive and knowledgeable ! Great great curry house!

Very disappointed. Very disgusted. Not only does a curry cost £8.50 which includes no rice but for that you only get a small carton. But the worst thing is the hair that was in one of the pieces of chicken, I suppose for £8.50 you should expect some free extras, but not a hair. Will not be returning or recommending to any one else.

Been visiting for 25 years now and Friday evening 25th October was another excellent experience. Food is consistently great and the guys running the place are always welcoming, friendly and professional. The ambience in the restaurant was buzzing and we always meet other people we know on a regular basis.

We were here for an early (5.30pm) midweek supper and we each had a super meal.I asked if the restaurant did a lamb karahi and was told that the meat would actually be mutton. Our waiter recognised that I was hesitant and sceptical, so he took lots of time to explain that the meat would be flavoursome and tender and then explained exactly how the dish was cooked and that the slow cooking ensured that the meat really would be tender. He convinced me, I ordered the dish and it was absolutely delicious! As promised, the meat was melt-in-the-mouth tender and it was actually more flavoursome than lamb. I can recommend it, with basmati rice.My dining companion had chicken madras with naan and he cleared his plate in no time. The restaurant has no drinks licence, so you can take your own beer/wine and they happily provide glasses (and no corkage fee).This means that an evening at Palace Tandoori not only means a delicious meal, but also excellent value for money, so it doesn't have to be a restaurant that you save just for " a treat". |It's great.

Returned here yet again for another wonderful meal. There were seven people in our party, each choosing a different meal - and we were not disappointed. The service, as ever, was excellent, and the food exceptional. As we took our own alcoholic drinks, the meal was was very reasonably priced. As always, the toilets were very clean. One downside, however, are the chairs - they are quite heavy and difficult to 'pull up' to the table, particularly for two of our elderly guests. However, we shall be back - great night had by one and all - thanks!

It's ok. Had it recommended from a few people at work but it's not what they and some of these reviews make out. The service is great, very friendly and the menu is good. Enough selection for most and decent prices. The food is lacking though, in flavour and freshness and I'm pretty sure some of the items are bought in. None of the food was bad, but none of it was good either. We will be going back over to Blue Tiger in Honley, now that is a good curry house.

Always a great welcome, good service and delicious flavoursome meal, will definitely be returning! My 11 year old daughter loved it too !! Took away doggy bag without fuss. Didn’t fancy a drink, was happy with a jug of water and there was no pressure to buy any drinks. (Which is unusual) Just a lovely meal which didn’t break the bank on a Thursday evening - Top marks!

My wife and I have three times in the last month and have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. Our personal favourites are the Chicken and spinach Kharai and the spicey ginger chicken. The staff are attentive without being intrusive and the owner very welcoming. Unlicensed so take your own wine or lager should you need but the mango lassi is exceptional. Will be making this a regular haunt.

The worst experience, ever,ordered 4 starters ,3 came mixed together in 1 bag,not eatable, looked like dog food,probably dog food tastes better ,actually my dog liked it,but he eats also rotten animals on a walk. Never again!!!!! Unfortunately I had to give a star to be able to write this.

Have been going to Palace on and off since it first opened. However for the first time came away disappointed. Starter OK but main course very oily lacked flavour and the meat had very little taste.

I am writing this review with a heavy heart. We have used Palace for take away (delivered) quite possibly as long as they have provided this service.

Great food, reasonably priced. Just remember to take your own beer/ wine and plenty cash as they don't take cards.

Well, the food we had was delightful - I had the aloo tikka starter and the "Mee Julie" main which were both really nice, while my wife had the chicken tikka balti - it had a nice bit of bite to it and was really flavoursome. Everyone was really impressed with the food - not many of our large group had been there before and commented on how nice it was.

It's marginally better than other similar restaurants in the area. But they're generally poor.

We have been here many times over the last few years. It is a bring your own alcohol, which does help reduce the cost of a night out. Very friendly service - the only slightly odd element is the requirement to keep your used cutlery from the starter to use in the main. The currys are always good, prices are reasonable, and the service is always friendly.

I’ve been going to the palace for as long as I can remember, and my parents have been going even longer! The staff are the friendliest people you could meet, the food is always lovely - not sweet and filled with sugar as lots of other Indian restaurants serve and although it’s often very busy, the quality of service is never affected, nor is the quality of food.

We've lived in the area 16 years, but never eaten here. We called in the other night after going to the cinema. Nice food, friendly staff. You can take your own alcohol, which keeps the price down. Would recommend and will go back.

Have been visiting Palace for 25 years since it first opened and it has remained consistently good throughout this time. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food is always excellent and we thoroughly enjoy our Saturday evenings there.

Went for an evening meal on Sunday. Pleasant place and nice friendly staff, but the food wasn't as tasty as last time. My friend was of the same opinion. May be the usual chef was having a day off!?

We visited during Easter bank holiday and had a really nice meal. Staff were really friendly and the meal lasted a nice long time we didn’t feel rushed. The starters were particularly good - fish tikka was really generous. It’s bring your own alcohol so we went to the local shop beforehand. Would recommend

Went here for a palls meet-up, had the usual popadoms and a starter each, four main courses with a few extras, side dishes, rice and nan breads. The food was very good, made to order, piping hot and served by the head waiter, very pleasant chap. The bill for the lot was just under £70 which we thought was very good value. Would definitely go again.

Good value for money. Fab staff. Extensive menu but is there a tandoor oven? Or is tandoori food deep fried?

Just had an absolutely fantastic meal with my wife. The staff were really friendly and helpful making us feel totally at home. The food was amazing, with flavour that was out of this world. I would recommend this place totally. Probbably my favourite restaurant cannot rate this place highenough.

This is one of the regular places we eat, it’s not cheap but being able to take your own booze helps keep it affordable.

A quiet Saturday night has to start early in this busy curry house; 6.45 and well packed out with families making the most of the take your own alcohol option. Generally good service, a little slow but could be reminded when necessary. The food was well presented and reasonably sized; a few of had the fish balti which worked nicely to provide a light and enjoyable meal.
