Yummy Yorkshire in Kirklees

Been many times, never disappointed. Favourite flavour is dime bar, but others are also delicious. Love this place. 5/5

We came for Coffee and Cake 4 generations of mothers, daughters, grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Age range 86-3. Mum struggled from the car but we did manage to park quite close to the only disabled bay I could see. She normally would be in a wheelchair and is on oxygen.But she thought she could make the short walk to the door. I asked for a table for 5 and 1 child. I did say we had not booked. Daughter lives near and had checked availability before we left. Tables available (5 minute drive) Are you having food. We just want coffee and cake. Mum being helped behind me by my sister and daughter it quite obvious she’s on oxygen. Was told to go through to the parlour order and take a seat upstairs!! Mum is disabled I said tbh I expected a different response to I can clean this table for you. You can have 30 minutes.Then she disappears. How the heck can we decide on cake and coffee order and eat and drink in 30 minutes. We stood for a few minutes was a bit none plussed thinking about it. Eventually someone else said can I help just said no thank you we will go somewhere else. Cannon Hall so much better for disabled people.

I had a really great experience here. This is because Ellis was my server and he was incredible. He offered recommendations which I took with glee. I had the mushroom toast and it was lush. He had a shining smile and continuously checked up on us. We would definitely come back, especially if ellis is serving.

We have been going to hoof and hide for a good few years and the food has always been good.. However today’s visit has left us feeling very very underwhelmed.. The bacon cheeseburger had one slice of bacon and the bread cake dwarfed the actual burger but it tasted ok .. However the Asian chicken flatbread was pathetic , a flatbread with strips of plain grilled chicken , a few lettuce leaves and a huge dollop of hoisin sauce .. I expected the chicken to be cooked in Asian spices not just covered in hoisin sauce and then the side salad was just a few more lettuce leaves … very very boring dish Come on good and hide put some effort into the dishes

Called in today with my wife for a coffee and some cake, we were told to take a seat and we would be seen to. After waiting for 20 minutes without even being asked if we wanted a menu even though the next table was being served we decided to leave. I don’t mind having to wait but to be ignored for 20 minutes without even having the chance to choose what we wanted is in my opinion not good. Won’t be going back.

The restaurant was busy but having made a reservation we were quickly seated and our order taken. Then the long long wait. 45 minutes before our food arrived having asked where our food was. When served by the manager there was no apology for the delay! Not acceptable. Food OK nothing special. Will not rush back.

We ordered 2 burgers, a beef and a chicken. The waiters were attentive but the food took a good 40 minutes to arrive which, in my view, was unacceptable. No apology for the wait so we wouldn’t return. The burgers were OK but the wait just ruined it for us.

I had excellent customer service from one of the young workers. She was extremely kind and generous, named Jess. Very professional despite clear pressure from above. A shining member of staff and we would definitely come back again as a family.

Visited this afternoon with a disabled child and another carer, was extremely disappointed we all chose a waffle. We was told that they needed to make some mixture so it may be a short wait, we said we was fine with this. Half an hour later we was still waiting at this point we went and said something as the child was getting distressed. We was told we still needed to wait, Some bowls of mixture suddenly appeared, 15 minutes later we was still waiting however a waffle had been made but left left on the side while another 6 customers was served. Travelled over 40 minutes to come try this place, however extremely disappointed, certainly wouldn’t recommend or be returning!

Really disappointed - we’ve been going here years but not sure we’ll be returning. The food has clearly gone through some cost cutting measures: Out has gone the toasted brioche bun to be replaced by a white bread cake. The menu still refers to a side salad but that’s gone too, no coleslaw, tomato and other items - just iceberg and a few bit of rocket now.

Ice cream counter is chaotic and awful. Queue times 30 mins plus as outside counter is closed. Inside counter trying to serve 5 people at once crossing over and rushing and pushing people aside before orders are complete. This used to be a fabulous place but now very put off returning. If you have allergies don’t bother as the chaos means much higher risk of cross contamination too.

Easter Sunday so they were very busy, resulting in service being a little slow, but the food was lovely. The menu is varied in content and price and there are good veggie/vegan options. Only suggestion on the menu is ditch the spicy beanburgers. There’s lots of amazing veggie burgers out there, let’s take a step out of the 90’s and bring it into the 21st century. Overall the restaurant is well maintained, with a rustic/boho chic vibe. Family and dog friendly, great location and the added bonus of the market barn being open. My only complaint is the chairs are horrendously uncomfortable. After about 15 minutes I was struggling with pain and discomfort. My sisters who came with me were also equally as discomforted.

Visited for lunch with a group of friends - quickly shown to table and order taken. No complaints at all, all food delicious, particularly the Thai green curry chicken salad - more than delicious just wow. A bit of a bind having to visit hut outside for ice cream, but our only complaint - def worth a visit

Called this afternoon, quite busy considering the weather but (not booked) on arrival at the reception desk the young ladies sorted a table for two people within a couple of minutes. The food n coffee was very nice indeed. The service was first class. A very enjoyable visit, look forward to the next.

Aesthetically the place is stunning. Shame that’s where it ends. The latte was strangely bitter (and overpriced) and I’m not really sure where to begin on the breakfast… Asked for a Quorn sausage sandwich with scrambled eggs. Couldn’t specify how much I wanted the scrambled eggs cooked easy. What arrived was a soggy burger bun and two deep fried sausages topped with a rubber bath mat! Definitely not impressed. Saving graces are the decoration, background music and the nice napkins… Won’t be back.

We decided to have some lunch at this restaurant while having a catch up as my sister had recommended from a previous visit. The restaurant was busy despite it being a weekday but luckily they had a table free for us. We both enjoyed a refreshing cider before choosing our meals and I was pleased to see plenty of Gluten Free options to choose from. I decided to have the Paddingtons Benedict which tasted great and came with GF bread. The only thing I would note is that the portions were small despite the price for both our dishes, otherwise it was lovely.

Went for breakfast today and came away very underwhelmed. Ordered a fungi feast and what came was a slice of sourdough with a cooked tomato and 2 small mushrooms so not exactly a feast!!!!

After having a fantastic afternoon tea a year ago I took my grandma for afternoon tea here for her Christmas present and I have to say I left feeling disappointed. For £22.50, the sandwiches weren’t great. The Brie wasn’t warm and one of the options was a basic cheese spread not very festive. The sweets were also small and not one of each. However the main thing for me was that when my grandma wanted a top up of tea we had to pay. I think for £45 for two of us I would have expected refills of tea and coffee. It’s a shame because I considered this one of the best I’d had in Barnsley and I won’t be going back.

I don't mind paying a premium price for anything but do expect a degree of value for money, Yummy Yorkshire has become ridiculously expensive and are serving barely adequate portions of food. For example, one of our party had scrambled egg on toast, literally one egg scrambled and two slices of bought in bread toasted £7.25, the "meal" looked isolated in the middle of a large dinner plate. Extra charge for oat milk coffee 70pence when it is literally the same price as cows milk making an oat milk cappuccino £4.90 wow, just wow! A small black americano £3.55 (no milk). A small bowl of yoghurt and granolla £8.50, another wow! Been going here for years but sorry, something has changed with their business model and looks like an attempt at maximising profits has been embarked on so good luck with that but beware, this may backfire and you have lost some longstanding customers.

Popped in on the off chance on a busy Friday in between Christmas & NY. The staff were lovely & found us a spot. All the staff were smiling & attentive. We were just too late for breakfast so ordered the Irish Crumpet & Beta. The food was delicious. My chef partner declared it exceptional and gave it 10/10 - which is incredibly unusual. He’s a tough one to please! I had the Beta and it was SO good we told a waitress that we were already planning to come back - she told us to keep the receipt as it was 10% off in Jan with it!! What a result. Overall, we were delighted we took a chance & went in.

Waited a while to get sat down guy was pretty blunt about it when we spoke. Ordered and we waited an hour for the food to come. Then asked for the bill, that never came so we walked to the till and left Was not that busy

WOW! Gorgeous venue, clean, airy and well kept. Staff all smiled and acknowledged us on entry. Well informed, friendly, efficient and fun service. Food served piping hot, large portions and packed with flavour. Excellent coffee. Toilets, clean and well stocked. Well done everyone! Can't wait to go back!

Really disappointed. Have been coming here for years. ( since it was about 5 tiny tables and you could only have any combination of bacon, egg and sausage). I asked for eggs florentine, and the staff were very accommodating as it wasn’t in the menu. However, it was a single egg , 2 halves of tomato on a tiny piece of sourdough. Years ago it was on fabulous homemade parsley crumpets, then a muffin, now a tiny bit to toast. But why only one egg. I wish the waitress would have corrected me and said it would be egg florentine instead of eggs florentine. I was so disappointed,

We visited on Sunday as we were staying nearby and had breakfast, followed by a mooch round the market on the farm. The coffee was the best we’ve had in a long time and the breakfasts were delicious. Such a good selection of traders in the market too, well worth a visit. We wish we lived closer so we could come for breakfast every weekend!

I have been to Yummy Yorkshire once previous to this visit and really enjoyed the food, experience and couldn't wait to come again! However, the 2nd time (4th Nov), we were left dissatisfied and wished we'd gone somewhere else! We got our hot drinks straight away but left waiting almost 40 minutes for food. By which time, the drinks had pretty much gone cold and it would have been nice to have a cuppa with brunch, not before... We asked a staff member if she could find out how long the food would be, she came back out with our food so i assume it had just been sat there going cold... My partner said he enjoyed his meal, albeit more lukewarm than hot but mine wasn't nice at all. A soggy bread cake with cold veggie sausages. It was also a very small bread cake with 2 tiny sausages cut in half. We had waited that long we didn't want to complain and just wanted to leave! I will try the place once more as everywhere deserves a second chance. Hopefully next time with hot food and quicker service!

My son and I had lunch at Hide & Hoof on 31 October for Oliver’s birthday We’ve been dining here from the very beginning 2007 ish and used to love the place so much we dined weekly. Our latest visit was enjoyable from the point that it’s a nice space & the staff are lovely. The food however was average and the prices are now astronomical for what you get. I had Funghi Feast, one small slice of toast spread with hummus, 1 tomato cut in half and 2 mushrooms £9.25 My son had hot chocolate with a teaspoon of little marshmallows and a squirt of cream £5.50 We used to go every week for lunch but it will be a long time before we return, such a shame.

"Experience a warm yorkshire welcome"..... Unlikely. Waited a whole 5 minutes to even be acknowledged. 5 minutes is a very long time when you are waiting with a child, wondering if you've even been noticed! 45 minute wait on food - that's a long time when it's only bacon buttys!! I've persevered with yummy yorkshire as its a local business, I've spent alot of money over the years. But it's truly over priced, un - welcoming (not just this visit) and the food and ice cream are just OK in our opinion. I mean £7.50 for a Halloween themed witch ice cream for a child??? I think if you pay minimum wages for young inexperienced staff, it shows in the customer experience. Sorry - I love to give credit where its due, but In a world of choice and low disposables incomes, it just doesn't meet expectation.

Disappointing sadly, very slow service, had to ask for sugar twice, my meal was missing the piccalilli, please don’t mess with a “ploughman’s” it’s a classic and didn’t really need to be turned into a sandwich, the cheese was very bland and I couldn’t see or taste the marmalade glaze on the ham, the little pork pie seemed like an afterthought, and not enough dressing on the meagre salad garnish, the waffle was ok but the ice cream was lacking in flavour, more water than cream I think, bit on the pricey side for what was basically a butty, nice surroundings and very clean, friendly staff but not sure we would return.

Lovely food, but very slow service cafe was quiet but waited nearly 30 minutes for food to arrive, there were plenty of staff working.

The food is brilliant but the service and speed is ridiculously slow for the price. It would’ve been fine if they at least acknowledged the speed but no one ever apologises for the slow coffee and food.

Heard a lot about the food here so 9 of us went to try it out for breakfast. Not disappointed, we all had different meals from bacon sandwich, small cooked breakfasts (not small) a Beta which is poached egg, bacon, guacamole, tomatoes on ciabatta. Everyone was pleased with their meals. Variety of hot drinks, teas and coffees consumed. Staff were fine, most of them were young so still learning but they were polite. Nice surroundings. Definitely visit again. It does get very busy so I think you always have to book for indoors.

I went here with the family earlier this week. First of all the online booking process was easy. Upon arrival, the waitress was very friendly and showed us to our seats. The order was taken quickly and the food served promptly. The food prices were as to be expected. The veggie burger was tasty and the portion was a good size. The kids meals (pizzas) were nice too. A lot of positives, but my only negative is the price of drinks. £2.80 for a can of Coke is nothing short of daylight robbery and took the shine off what was a pleasant visit overall.

Visited here with nephew and niece and mum. The place itselfnis greay the kids loved playing in the little playground followed by ice cream. The disappointment was the price for a can of Sprite, we all know everything has gone up but charging £2.80 for a can of pop is extortionate.

Visited here for breakfast before heading up home to Bonnie Scotland! The staff were delightful and the 4 breakfasts were absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!

I've just read a few negative reviews so thought I had to balance things out a bit. We didn't reserve a table but drove from Wakefield on spec Tue 25th, and so weren't surprised when we were told there would be a 20 minute wait. The staff were both polite and friendly and when they realised I had trouble standing they very quickly cleared away a table for use to sit at. My wife had the Yorkshire Sandwich. I tried some of the brisket and it just fell apart, melted in my mouth! Gorgeous! She would have liked a larger portion of fries. I had the Moroccan Chicken Flatbread which was stunning. My wife was definitely jealous! The mixed beans, garlic and herb mayo and honey mustard gave some very tasty combinations. There was a really generous helping of strips of chicken breast. My only criticism is that I found the spice to be lacking, but I really enjoyed the meal. I'll be making this meal at home and it will definitely be ordered by one or both of us next time we visit. Finished off with a double scoop choc waffle cone. Lovely lunch, very nice day out.

Visited on Sunday and sat outside, even though it was raining, an outdoor heater was handy. We spent £55 on 3 single tubs, 3 double tubs, a waffle cone, a scone, 3 ribenas, a can of sprite and 4 hot drinks. Having never been before I viewed the website for choices and my only criticism is please don't show you sell Rhubarb Ripple when it's a seasonal fruit you don't offer all year. I did have Rhubarb Eton Mess & Lemon Meringue, both very very nice! Service was amazing with out big order. Ice cream choice was amazing. Area was clean and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

It's probably best to book a table Indoor and outdoor dining available. Outdoor booths have heaters and blankets available. You definitely won't be disappointed with the food choices. Gluten free options available too.. Service was good, pretty fast and the food was hot and tasty....

Unless it's nice weather I would not visit. The marquee just keeps the rain off. Food was cold in no time.and all and it took over 15 minutes to receive the drinks order. An expensive poor experience.
