The Lantern Room at Manor House Lindley in Kirklees

The setting of the Lantern Room restaurant at the Manor House is beautiful. We were given the table in the window, perfect for two people. When we were given the menu the staff explained that there were a couple of extras on it at the beginning as amuse bouches. There were three of them and also some wonderful sour dough bread. These were free. The three very different mouthfuls were exquisite, with the blood orange and trout being our favourite. The sable biscuit was so light. We ordered the crab starter and the mackerel and then both had the line caught sea bass for main course. Both starters were intricate and beautiful to look at with the taste being fantastic. The blend of gooseberry, apple and mackerel was amazing. The quality of the line caught sea bass was first class and the chef did not disappoint in the cooking of it. Absolute perfection. Our evening was made special by the wonderful food, atmosphere of the place and the attentiveness of the staff, so big thanks to all concerned.

A superb restaurant with wonderful food, beverage, service and ambience. Whether you go for a superb dinner or the best Sunday lunch in the area we can be sure that you will enjoy it just as much as we do regularly!

Mothers Day meal which went really well. Booked well ahead and given dining room was full can understand why. Three of our party are veggie with good menu choices. Service and food both good. My only observations were the wine choice, while extensive, we're on the expensive side. Personally, the mark up was a little high compared with similar venues. Despite this, I would return as the whole experience was quality especially that delivered by the staff.

Visited for a special birthday occasion and was completely underwhelmed. Very small amount of savory on offer on the afternoon tea for example: one sandwich half slice of bread with beef. Although I have a sweet tooth the selection of sweets were poor with the exception of the scones which were lovely. I wouldn’t return as for the price there are a lot better options available. However staff are excellent and surroundings lovely

Food was good, arrival & table service was average at best. Reception was very poor, our first visit we arrived a little early, our coats were taken & shown through to a bar where we were told we were early so we would have to wait ( stood) or maybe take a table & have a drink, we said yes ok & were left standing for a few minutes then told actually the table is ready but then left standing again for 4/5 minutes ( like a couple of spare ones at a wedding). Then a waitress shouted our surname ( like we were waiting for a take away) saying the table was ready 🫣 Table waitress was very polite but did not explain menu or selection of vegetables. Upon departure we had to locate our own coats with no assistance whatsoever & could have taken ant coat we wanted. Our first visit was also to ascertain if this was a suitable venue for an upcoming wedding.

Had an excellent evening at the Manor House last night. Drinks beforehand in the Clocktower bar before sitting down in the Lantern Room to a lovely 3 course meal. The staff were excellent and the food lovely. As a group of 11, everyone said they had a fab evening and the Manor House was perfect.

Great place with awesome food. We ate here for dinner and it was our first time and certainly not the last. We had a 3 course meal both of us and each dish was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the ambiance was great. Service was also spot on. Before we had our dinner we enjoyed drinks in the bar area which was also beautiful.

Really enjoyed our evening but would have just liked a couple more options to choose from I didn’t enjoy my starter as the mackerel was cold and I expected it to be warm. Maybe an error on my part the venison main was fab as were the sides but again it was the only choice as not a bass or pork fan the service was very good .the room could Have done with being a little warmer as the seats felt damp when we first Arrived but it did warm up to be fair we would visit again but I’m sure they would encourage more less adventurous diners if they added a couple of “safe” options

What an amazing restaurant for Sunday Lunch! How it can only be 65th out of 309 restaurants in Huddersfield is a total injustice! The whole Hotel is wonderful and the Lantern Room is sublime. The greeting was friendly and efficient and we were seated promptly. Drinks were efficiently ordered and served. The whole lunch was absolutely wonderful, one of the best Sunday roast lunches I have ever had, (apart from my wife's of course!) The roast beef and the pork were cooked to perfection, the flavour and texture were excellent, the crackling on the pork was amazing. Yorkshire puddings were exactly what you would expect! Desserts were also superb. Great ales and a very comprehensive wine list, wines served very professionally. Shout out to all the staff particularly James and Ash. Definitely be returning and recommend that you give it a try!

What a fantastic experience, the welcome, the surroundings, the ambiance, the outstanding quality of the meal and the splendid service. We have dined here twice in the last month, we enjoyed a superb Sunday lunch with friends a few weeks ago, great value, for such a wonderful meal and again this evening a truly delicious meal, outstanding service from James Et-Al, in surroundings which are a credit to the area and are arguably Huddersfield's finest. Looking forward to our next visit!

Incredibly underwhelming food, very disappointed and would not recommend to anyone. Starter at £16 for scallops incredibly overpriced for two shavings of one scallop. Service wasn’t great either. Main course was better but still entirely inadequate. Far far better places to eat. Quality, service and quantity need to be improved with immediate effect.

Beautiful restaurant and really good food and service. Couldn’t fault it really. Only given 4 stars as on the slightly pricier end of things and i’ve had other meals at the same quality for slightly cheaper.

Fine dining that will stay in the memory for ever. Congratulations to the chefs especially , but also the delightful staff in the Lantern dining room at the Manor House in Lindley. A rare opportunity to have the family round the table together and what a feast it was. How this restaurant does not have a Michelin star, I don’t know. Every course beautifully presented & cooked to perfection. My venison was perfectly pink & so tender, teeth were not required. The cheese board selection special and the waitress knowledge of the individual cheeses impressive and very helpful. This experience of dining out will be a hard act to follow.

I dined with friends last night in the lantern room restaurant at the manor house. Staff were friendly and lovely, service was flawless and the meal was among the best I've had. Even the timings between courses was just right, really can't fault anything. Everything was excellent and I couldn't recommend enough. The perfect place for a special occasion.

My daughter-in-law rang to try and book a lunchtime table for 6A and 3C . The responses she received were brusque and totally lacking in any customer service. She later complained and received a poor excuse for an apology.

We visited a couple of months ago on a Saturday night but returned for Sunday dinner with our son. Fabulous from start to finish with great food and service. We’ll definitely be back

Our first visit and certainly not the last.Lovely gin cocktails prior to dining and the bar had a lovely feel with staff so very polite it started the night off perfectly.The lantern room interior is a lovely setting with every single staff member extremely polite, professional and very friendly..not o e member of staff could be faulted and they all work non stop and obviously take pride in great customer service! The food was so well executed and faultless. The pictures do not do it justice.We class L’Enclume as our favourite dining experience and that is a 2* Michelin restaurant.. Make no mistake this is certainly borderline Michelin quality and now our favourite local fine dining restaurant above The Box Tree in Ilkley.Thank you for such a wonderful experience.Just as a note, the bill including tip and 4 cocktails £160.00 for the experience and quality of food we will certainly return.P.s. we have just returned from having breakfast there and that was immaculate and worth a separate review.

We’ve just had an Amazing Sunday lunch in the lantern room. The service was exceptional, polite, courteous and friendly, thanks to James, and his colleagues. we can’t rate the food or the service high enough. We’ll certainly be back. Thank you.

We had the confit duck, and the mackerel as starters. Both were well seasoned, interesting, and pleasant. They peaked our appetite and made us excited for the next course.For mains, we had the lamb, the guinea fowl, and the gnocchi. The lamb was perfectly cooked and complimented by the sides. The guinea fowl was the break away hit of the evening - expertly prepared and, again, the other items on the plate complimented and elevated the entire dish. The gnocchi was the correct texture, the accompanying vegetables were expertly prepared with each treated individually as they should have been. When combined, on the plate, the textures played off each other well and the sauce tied the entire dish together. One of the best gnocchi dishes that I have had.We shared the Black Forest Gateau, and it was fantastic. My daughter thought it was one of the best desserts she has ever had.

I booked for myself to dine in the Lantern Room last night for a birthday treat.From the moment of entering The Manor House to leaving the experience was wonderful. Greeted on arrival and I chose to go straight to my table. There were a number of taster dishes before my starter came. All were presented beautifully and tasted wonderfully. My large red wine was excellent as were the starter and main course, after which I was full (I am known as a BIG eater). I then opted for a pot of tea for one and a treat, which was most definitely a treat and refreshed my pallet too. Thank you to all the staff for making my birthday solo meal so memorable. Having dined at all the local restaurants, I can definitely say the ambiance, food and service were all by far the best I have experienced. Keep up the amazing standard; your very high reputation is growing very quickly.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening last night. We were a table of 4 dining from the A la carte menu. Beautifully presented and tasting food with excellent service. The decor and ambience too was welcoming without a stiff and fussy presence of waiting staff watching your every move.A 10/10 from Jen!

This was my birthday celebration with friends. We decided to have the Elegant tasting menu at £55 pp. (there is the option of Indulgent tasting Menu at £72.)Each dish was presented at a timely interval, and the food was delicious. The table service was excellent. The staff were bright, cheery, enthusiastic, and knowledgable. One of our party preferred to have a vege/fish option rather than meat, and her needs were fulfilled. The venue itself is in a beautiful building, with plenty of parking facilities.

This was our second visit after having had a fabulous meal with family a few weeks prior. We had the tasting menu and wine flight. What a treat! Thoroughly enjoyed the evening, made even better with pre dinner cocktails in the bar.

As a treat for my wifes birthday we had a go at the tasting menu. We were served up 11 courses of fabulous food. I had the vegetarian option which was nearly as interesting as the standard version. Everything was cooked to perfection, the restaurant had a particularly nice ambience and the staff got the balance between being helpful and leaving us time alone just right. Would definitely recommend.

my second dining experiance in last few months.. here.. ..their were 10 of us celebrating a friends birthday...so we added a bit of Atmosphere to the place otherwise would have been very dull..the decor is wonderful..staff are friendly enough ..but it lacks something...we opted for the 55 pounds a head tasting menu..with wine we paid 90 pounds each.....sorry to say it just wasnt worth the experiance...we all left feeling hungry..their wasnt any substance to any of the dishes..i filled up on sour dough bread..and normally i dont eat bread in a restaraunt..i think they need to change the menu and look at real food...sorry...

Christmas lunch - 8 of us had Christmas lunch the Sunday before Christmas, great value and good quality, amazing wine and Good service. The turkey was lovely and a lot of it, with lots and Lots of gorgeous vegetables, huge portion of Stone bass, desserts were delicious - cheesecake, egg custard was my favourite - really enjoyable and feel very festive now

I never write reviews but this place has blown me away! The decor is unbelievable and the food is out of this world! 5 for my friends went for my birthday and we had a lovely time, the waiter James was friendly and very Knowledgeable of the menu. Very talented chef! We can’t wait to come back for more!!!

Had dinner with my partner and a couple of friends, we couldn't fault it.Opted for the smaller tasting menu, and it was delightful, and sufficient for us.Staff in the restaurant were all very good, chatty, knowledgeable and enthusiastic.Superb restaurant, opulently designed, it's a fabulous place for a treat.I cannot wait to go back and try the new tasting menu in the new year.

We really enjoyed our Thursday night tasting menu at The Lantern Room. The Manor House is a beautiful place.Pro’s were the friendly welcome, beautiful decor throughout, superb wines and good champagne, professional and relaxed waitresses and beautifully presented tasty food (plenty of it too).If I’m being critical I would say it felt a bit ‘empty’. Despite the special Thursday offer (6 courses with two mini cocktails for £50) there were only four couples dining so there wasn’t really a buzz about the place, although everyone seemed happy. Our waitress was charming, bright and knowledgeable but the presence of a manager or maitre d’ would probably have enhanced the general ambience.We’ll visit again but probably at a weekend.

It's a nice dining room and the place was packed when I was there. It's slightly pretentious but I'm so glad they are trying to up the game in Huddersfield. The food is decent, nicely presented without being historiic. Would go again. Staff were good.

Staying here for a night so we thought we would try the restaurant, reviews don't tell you much but if you want amazing tasty food to enjoy this is the place. Staff were fantastic, sense of humour and really chatty! Lovely atmosphere. We couldn't fault it! Plenty of choice of different menus and it changes weekly

We came to The Latern Room @ The Manor House to celebrate my birthday, which was on a Wednesday.

Have been for afternoon tea and the tasting menu before at the Manor House but this was the first time we’ve had the Sunday lunch. £25 for 2 courses and £30 for 3 courses. Couldn’t fault it at all. My husband had 3 courses, I had 2 courses. The beef followed by pecan tart and ginger ice cream. The main course arrives with the meat and Yorkshire pudding, there was then a shared platter of roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli and cabbage for us to serve ourselves. Portion size was perfect. Food and service were excellent and I’m already planning when I can revisit.

sorry BUT this doesnt live up to what they are trying to achieve,,,sunday afternoon.,DEAD,,,nobody outside ,very few people inside,..NO atmosphere whatsoever..we were 8 people in a bland cold restaraunt.....sad. waiting staff with no personality at all....maitre de..no personal contact what so ever....food was good ..BUT dining experiance 500 quid wasted really.....NOT..we left and went to leeds..what a fab night their...

Can’t wait to go back. We had The Elegant Menu , a 5 course taster menu which comes with 2 cocktails as part of the Thursday night offer . The food was amazing, imaginative, tasty and a series of plates which complement one another. We left full but not stuffed. The staff are clearly well trained but perhaps also hired for their personality. Our waitress was perfect- very knowledgable about the food, naturally friendly and so enthusiastic. We went on a heatwave evening and as soon as we arrived she suggested going straight into the restaurant rather than the bar as the aircon was on. As we left she chatted about the lovely and totally different atmosphere at Sunday lunch. This is someone who loves her job and is a credit to the establishment. Already working out when we can next visit!

The local area (Lindley) is known to be quite "wealthy" and recent experiences with Erics restaurant, previously known as the areas best, led me to expect a pretentious and possibly underwhelming experience.

First time visit with friends but a real gourmet experience. Not the cheapest place but good food and well presented matched by top class service

We ate at The Lantern Room for our 15th Wedding Anniversary last night. It was excellent. We decided to spare no expense and went for the Indulgent Tasting Menu. And it certainly didn't disappoint! Worth every penny. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere in the dining room was relaxed, the service was impeccable. Better than some of the Michelin Star restaurants we have eaten at. Will definitely be returning. The mid-week smaller tasting menu offered an excellent value alternative for someone wanting to experience The Lantern Room but not wanting to spend quite so much.

We live close to The Manor and have had drinks there many times. We recently tried The Lantern Restaurant for the first time.

I have been to the Manor House a few times for drinks and afternoon tea. This was my first visit for dinner in the Lantern Room. It started with fantastic service followed by an amazing tasting menu. Each course was introduced by the waiting staff and it was simply delicious. Highly recommend. We are so lucky to have such a stylish place on our doorstep.

We absolutely love this place, we have been a few times for the tasting menu since it opened, and we went again last night. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is just right, the staff can not do enough, I personally find the main bar too busy so we use the cellar bar for pre drinks, no clock watching as they come and let you know when the table is ready which I love.

Impressive venue and very well presented. After drinks in the busy bar we had dinner in the main restaurant. Lovely room and a nice generous dining space. Great service- attentive and pleasant but not overbearing. Menu was impressive and the food was good. Quite ambitious. Our only disappointment was the mix of people dining which I suppose they have little control over. It’s not cheap so we were surprised to be sitting adjacent to a table who were clearly celebrating. One diner had to be woken up to leave whilst another was vaping in the restaurant. Shame as otherwise it was a good evening. Not cheap.

The service here is exceptional, lovely caring staff who are very attentive and on the ball. Yes the prices are at the higher end however the food is very worthy of it. We will definitely be back.

Heard great things about this restaurant from friends and family so decided to give it a try for my wife’s birthday.There was 7 of us in the group and we had the tasting menu,all I can say is that it was an amazing experience.

Was given a voucher for my birthday, had put off booking thinking it may be overrated and pretentious. We couldn’t have been more wrong. It was an altogether great experience, the food was really exceptional and the service perfect, the staff were warm and friendly and the decor is really unusual but it works so well. We live in Lindley and have a good choice of eating places, but this is by far the best and can’t recommend highly enough. The many extra tasters made it very special. Will be back.

The Manor House Lindley Huddersfield My name is Cafer and I own a restaurant in Turkey. I was taken to this fantastic restaurant by some friends last night 20th Feb 2019 . The facilities are amazing, fantastic interior design, drinks in the cocktail bar and then on to the dining room, to have a wonderful meal, the infusions of flavours were amazing. The staff were very professional and attentive and made us all feel very welcome. Thank you John, the chef for visiting our table and asking how was our meal. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I took family & friends to the Manor House on Sunday. Ages ranged from 17-80’s,all had a fantastic Sunday lunch. Service was exceptional from all the staff. We will definitely be coming back.

We have eaten here twice now since it opened this summer and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. The food is simply excellent and the service has been fantastic. We have ordered from the a la carte menu both times, but there are so many extra plates included that this is like a tasting menu in itself. It is pricey, but most definitely worth the money. I had the duck last night and it just melted in my mouth - sublime. The portions are perfectly sized, leaving us nicely full at the end of our meal. They also have an interesting wine list to suit all budgets. We shall return again and again and would highly recommend.

Been waiting to visit this place since I saw it was being renovated. It didn’t disappoint. Absolutely stunning buildings. We went to the Kitchen for brunch. Shared an amazing vegan platter and it wasn’t over priced. Gorgeous decoration throughout. Lots of healthy food choices on the menu. The staff seemed laidback and friendly. We will definitely return and try out the other bar venue on site.

What a fantastic luxury hotel. A large crown of us called in for late night drinks. We were greeted warmly and even after closing time, we were allowed to sit and chat with friends who were staying there. Beautiful hotel. Lovely little touch of wireless chargers dotted around.

been here sevsral times..and keeps getting better....always a busy place t weekends.with very smart people....quite expensive for drinks ..but hey..keeps out the riff raff....decor is amazing..as is the new cellar bar.....now the roof terrace is done as well ,cant wait for summer ....

Over rated . I appreciate good food at any cost.. this was a special occasion.. night club bar area noise wise.. takèn to table... cold all evening inside... kept jacket on all eve.. food below par for price ..can recomend better.

This is the most beautiful contemporary Manor House set in lovely gardens. The design truly makes a statement and no expense has been spared. It’s worth a visit to admire this wonderful place. The food was nice but nothing special however the splendour of The Manor House is outstanding. We will return for sure.

Brought my family here for afternoon tea as a celebration. This place is magnificent and the food and service is superb. In particular the flavours and food quality was excellent. An absolute treat and would return for more occasions.
