Tech-free pub that no longer serves food, so unfortunately we couldn’t stay (came out for lunch). However, what a stunning building, beautiful atmosphere and amazing welcome/service. If I were looking for a place to drink and chat today, this would be where I would come. Really nice acoustics, audiologist approved for those who struggle to hear. If you know, you know :-) Delighted to have found it, will be back!

Super pricey people. £14 for a Double Whisky and a single Gin and Tonic. The glasses were not clean, and I had to ask for a second slice of lemon as the first one was See-through. This was not a cocktail. 20 years ago it was good. I'm done.

Quick update. Still open, still good beers, still good prices. Now has tap and pay.... Still has the no phones, swearing, music rules. Still a bit quiet at times. Food's on. Not had any yet but it does look good. Some repairs and updates have been done. Looks a bit better now. Feels a bit more welcoming now but like a lot of Sam's houses it's still a little soulless. Called in whilst on a work trip for a pub lunch. I was refused service because I wanted to quietly use my laptop at my table. I could totally understand if it was 6pm or busy but it was 12:30pm and the place was literally empty. Went round the corner to the Liversedge pub, they gave me a wifi password and had a lovely meal. Brewery policy, digital free zone. My sister and I were sharing our holiday photos, ( I live abroad, visiting family in the area for Christmas). We were told we would be asked to leave if we used our phones in the pub. With 6 other customers in the pub, I don't think the Brewery can afford to restrict their customer base. The spirits served in the pub were not brands that are known to me. We drank up promptly and left. We went to The Liversedge, close by and enjoyed friendly service and spirits with brand names we know.

I visited the Old Hall for the first time yesterday and was amazed firstly by the building itself. It is such an interesting historical building and is so well kept that walking in there felt like stepping back in time. With a great selection of ales wines spirits and soft drinks, as well as bar snacks and proper home made Sunday lunches, this pub truly is a little hidden gem and incomparable to anything else in the local area.If you do visit, be sure to ask to see the upstairs room if it isn't open to the public - it's full of historical artifacts and tributes to Joseph Priestley, previous resident of the Old Hall.

Booked a table for 4 for 7:30, we arrived on time, were shown to our table swiftly and had good attention from the wait person. However, on booking the website said the table needed to be vacated by 9 [which is actually when they say they close mid-week]. It was 8:30 by the time our food arrived, which if we had had to leave at 9 was a joke. Maybe this was to give you time to buy the expensive drinks. I thought the soft drinks were highly priced. I had to ask twice for mayonnaise with the chips. As another reviewer has noted, it probably is a venue for the younger generation, we were next to a table who were so loud it was difficult to hear each other speak. The burgers were not as filling as I had expected for hand made [I had the Ho Chi Munch [which I thought for a veggie option was overpriced as beetroot is not as expensive as beef] , others had the Boss, the Old Skool & the LTO. I doubt if we'll go again.
