Super pricey people. £14 for a Double Whisky and a single Gin and Tonic. The glasses were not clean, and I had to ask for a second slice of lemon as the first one was See-through. This was not a cocktail. 20 years ago it was good. I'm done.

Samuel Smith's no phone zone. Inconvenient but makes for good atmosphere. Good beer.

The Old Hall doesnt serve food but is still a great pub in its own right. Lovely owners and staff, well worth a visit. It really is an old place as well, built in the 1400s. A great little pub and the Taddy is super tasty!

This is a very old coach house, a fabulous building. I had a pint of dark mild it was around £2.50 maybe less. It is a tech free pub so you need to speak to each other they also don't allow bad language. Altogether a nice evening out

what a hidden gem. Old world back in the time pub. it's like drinking in a museum. not much choice on beer but enjoyed my stout.and very cheap

Quiet atmosphere able to talk and be heard, No music or phones allowed, good for me because my hearing-aid amplifies everything.

The service was ok , I ordered pie but didn’t like the choice , so I choose sausage and mash when the meal came the gravy was lumpy and cold , so I asked them to change it . When it came back the gravy was tasteless and Luke warm . When I paid I expressed my disappointment and I will not be returning

Our first visit for quite a while impressive both inside and out . Staff were very helpful and service with a smile 😃. It won't be so long before we call again.

A beautiful old building thankfully not overdone during a recent refurb. Friendly welcome, one thing to note if you don't know the place is that only Sam Smith beers served which isn't a problem for me. Food is served but we haven't tried it yet so I'll rate that later.

Wonderful place to stay. The room was perfect, and complete with a four poster bed. Historic building in beautiful grounds. Such a treat to stay here.

Absolutely stunning place A 14 th century conversion that has kept all its charm and character. And the staff and customers were all so friendly. The beer is top notch and although I wound the barmaid up the food was really good ( she took it as it was meant to be a bit of banter ) I would very highly recommend this pub to anyone. Ray Malik.

Quick update. Still open, still good beers, still good prices. Now has tap and pay.... Still has the no phones, swearing, music rules. Still a bit quiet at times. Food's on. Not had any yet but it does look good. Some repairs and updates have been done. Looks a bit better now. Feels a bit more welcoming now but like a lot of Sam's houses it's still a little soulless. A likable pub. Hope it continues!

Lovely pub ,no mobiles going off no body staring at their phones a place of peace and conversation .....and not a bad Sunday roast too .

Called in whilst on a work trip for a pub lunch. I was refused service because I wanted to quietly use my laptop at my table. I could totally understand if it was 6pm or busy but it was 12:30pm and the place was literally empty. Went round the corner to the Liversedge pub, they gave me a wifi password and had a lovely meal. Crazy business model from Sam Smith's. (The lady at the bar was lovely about it though, not her fault)

Lovely pub, soooooo glad it is back open. Proper traditional pub. Just need to spread the word and get the customer's back in. They also serve food. No kids if not eating and no dogs allowed though.

Gorgeous old place full of character.. Great landlords serving great Sam Smith's brews and delicious and slightly different slant to regular pub grub. Delicious! However, the pub needs to be full of customers though, it's a sad reflection of the time. Shame , as the Old Hall deserves better!

Brewery policy, digital free zone. My sister and I were sharing our holiday photos, ( I live abroad, visiting family in the area for Christmas). We were told we would be asked to leave if we used our phones in the pub. With 6 other customers in the pub, I don't think the Brewery can afford to restrict their customer base. The spirits served in the pub were not brands that are known to me. We drank up promptly and left. We went to The Liversedge, close by and enjoyed friendly service and spirits with brand names we know.

Visited today for first time in a long time. Pass this pub often and wasn't quite sure if it had reopened. We were glad to see that it has. Were greeted with a warm welcome. It was very quiet but it was Monday afternoon. We just had a drink but were pleased to hear that they are doing meals as well so we will certainly be back to try the menu. So glad that this wonderful building is once again open.

Had a meal with my daughters and it was lovely food and fairly priced. Great old building with rustic charm and friendly staff.

Fantastic pub with loads of history, well worth a visit

What a brilliant place! Dates from the late 1400s. Plenty of oak beams and history everywhere. No phones or tablets allowed, it's a pub for meeting people and the old fashioned habit of talking to other face to face! I will be coming back here again for sure

Not been in this pub for quite a while. We had a good conversation with the landlady who was very pleasant then the landlord came down and it turned out that he had been a landlord/ steward in the Mirfield area a number of years ago. Very pleasant evening with good beer.

Really looked forward to the pub reopening, have to say big disappointment, just no atmosphere at all, really need to get rid of this no phone nonsense and get done background music on then I'm sure people will flood back

Under new management who are trying their best to get customers through the door but are limited by the rules of the brewery. Very interesting building dating back to the1400s.

I have to give 5 stars because it's a beautiful building but I'm a Guinness drinker and the stout is not quite as good having said that I had 4 pints and thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon

An incredible, historic pub with very good new managers. The building is awesome and the drinks are excellent and very fairly priced.

** Closed until August 2019 ** This is ( or was) a cracking pub currently closed as of 30.04.19 and awaiting new management going in. Have had it confirmed that it is having a new roof and won't be open for another 3 months which will take it to around August 2019 for reopening

So a great pub. Pleasant, nice furnishings, great beers. But on a Friday afternoon, when it's advertised as open...... It's shut. So no nice beers for me. Not a great start. So off to the West.

I visited the Old Hall for the first time yesterday and was amazed firstly by the building itself. It is such an interesting historical building and is so well kept that walking in there felt like stepping back in time. With a great selection of ales wines spirits and soft drinks, as well as bar snacks and proper home made Sunday lunches, this pub truly is a little hidden gem and incomparable to anything else in the local area.If you do visit, be sure to ask to see the upstairs room if it isn't open to the public - it's full of historical artifacts and tributes to Joseph Priestley, previous resident of the Old Hall.

We were visiting from Greece and just popped in to the Old Hall for a lager. It's a lovely old-fashioned pub with a lovely friendly atmosphere. We were lucky that it was a warm sunny day and were able to sit outside in the beer garden at the back. Hoping to return for their Sunday roast. Highly recommended by both of us.

Took my family for Sunday lunch. The building is fascinating and well kept.,the staff are naturally warm and friendly and the food is superb. Even the bill made me happy. Thanks for a lovely afternoon.

Visited with a group of 30 walkers. A pub with an interesting historical past, that has retained its character. Lovely wooden beams that contribute to a great atmosphere. Service timely and efficient.. Menu with good choices, some traditional, some contemporary. Standard of food and presentation excellent. Reasobably priced. Would not hesitate to recommend this very welcoming hostelry!

I've been visiting here for over 35 years and seen a number of owners and varying levels of satisfaction for food and ambience. It's always been good, sometimes exceptional. It has a long and interesting history.

The old hall is a great place to go friendly helpful staff and customers the old hall is also dog friendly nice beer garden at the back with access to the play area affordable organic beers lagers wines spirits and snacks serving good home cooked food at affordable prices and amazing Sunday lunch lots of love sweat tears and hard work as gone into the old place and you can see it's giving off a great atmosphere the place to unwind from a smelly worn out dusty place to a transformed much loved manor house everyone is made to feel so welcome

We are new to the area and we.loved the look of this pub... an oldy worldy Tudor style pub which is stunning inside and out. It is clearly a locals pub as when we pulled up we were looked up and down and sussed out by the people sat outside and when we walked into the pub. But everyone said hi and made us feel welcome apart from whom we can only presume is the land lady! We are looking for a nice new pub for us to become a local and we love to drink, have fun and to socialise! The woman behind the bar was so rude to us both because we didn't know what to drink. We are not lovers of Sam Smith's pubs as there are non close to where we are from. So we dont know the ranges. We were very confused as to what to even try. Instead of talking us through what is on offer she ridiculed us and told us we have no culture. This is not a pub I will ever venture Into again as i was sickened to my stomach how she would lose what would be 2 amazing and i do mean AMAZING regular customers just to try and make her local crowd of regulars giggle for just a couple of moments. Instead the reality was when she went to clear tables her customers actually apologised for her behaviour saying she is a nasty person and to ignore her! Not the professionalism what I would expect with a Samuel Smith's Establishment and what I know of there reputation.
