Stopped off here on the way to Northumberland. What a lovely location! We had a suite with a beautiful view over the garden. Room was spacious and comfortable. Dinner in the evening was fine but not great; breakfast was much better. Staff are friendly and helpful.

What a wedding! We got Married at Bagden Hall at the beginning of March. The whole day went so smoothly everything was perfect just as we dreamed. Curtis, Abby and Marissa couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. We all loved the food both during the day and the evening ceremony. We had so many of our family and friends say that this was the best wedding they had been to. We had the perfect balance of romance and entertainment. Sorry the review is a bit late X

Stayed for the fourth time a couple of days ago, but we won’t be staying again. The rooms are starting to look tired with rotting wood and peeling paint on the window frames (Suite 4) and stained carpets on the landing and the textured tiles on bathroom floor were ingrained with dirt. Service at dinner was extremely slow and that was with only nine people in the restaurant including us. The blackened cod was only two inches by two inches and my bavette steak had a streak of gristle running along its whole length. The requested wine list arrived promptly but then no-one came to take the order and I had to ask the waiter who brought the starter. Having said that, the cooked breakfast was very good and the service commendably fast. During the meal and at checkout, no-one asked if everything was alright, although the waiter and the receptionist were very pleasant. We found an envelope in the room, left by the previous guest(s), behind a cushion. When we handed it in we were told that the guest had rung the hotel asking about it and that staff had searched the room and couldn’t find it!

I visited Bagden Hall with my sister & we had a fabulous champagne afternoon tea . The staff were very friendly and helpful & service was amazing . We had a walk round the gardens afterwards just a shame it was a bit chilly , would highly recommend.

Stayed for two nights 16/17th March, on arrival we were upgraded to a suite room 3, everything spotless and clean, room had great view across the lawn and valley. Enjoyed well presented and delicious evening meals, breakfast on first morning could have been better as bacon and mushrooms over cooked slightly, second morning much better. We will would like to visit again in the future. All staff made our visit special thank you.

Had a lovely overnight stay at Bagden Hall, wouldn't hesitate in recommendation, it's in lovely wooded grounds, lovely bedroom, good food , excellent staff. We will go again for longer stay my husband me and our little shih tzu who loved her sousages.

My partner & I recently got married at Bagden Hall Hotel and it was the most perfect day from start to finish. The staff were fantastic & did so much for us to make us feel looked after & special all day & night as well as the following day too. We didn't have anything to worry about it was all sorted for us which was perfect. The venue is beautiful & the room are huge with such comfortable beds. Lots of places inside & outside for wedding photos. Our guests couldn't stop commenting on how wonderful the whole venue was. Thank you again to all the staff ❤️

The hotel and grounds were beautiful and the staff we all amazing. We went for afternoon tea which while pleasant was a bit underwhelming. Nice afternoon out though.

Well deserved 5 stars for afternoon tea with champagne. Everything was fresh and delicious the young men serving us were attentative, smart and polite. Unable to rate rooms as didn't stop over but all the reception rooms were clean, well maintained and the decor was beautiful in keeping with it's age.

I recently booked a stay at Hotel via Booking.com but accidentally selected the wrong dates. I realized my mistake immediately and called the hotel right away to request a change. Unfortunately, the room wasn’t available for the correct dates, so they advised me to contact Booking.com to cancel. Despite reaching out within minutes of the mistake, I was still charged for the first night. I understand that there was a cancellation policy in place, and I take responsibility for my error. However, what disappointed me most was the lack of flexibility and customer service. Instead of any attempt to find a solution—such as offering to apply the charge to a different night—the response from the hotel staff felt cold and unhelpful. The conversations were not pleasant, and the overall attitude made me feel more like I was being punished rather than accommodated. Mistakes happen, and while I don’t expect special treatment, I do believe that good hospitality involves some level of understanding and customer care. If you choose to book here, double-check your dates carefully—because at this hotel, mistakes are not forgiven.

We snagged ourselves a cheap room via laterooms.com and were delighted to be upgraded to a suite on arrival. The room was huge, with large bathroom with roll top bath and also a comfortable seating area with sofa and chairs. Lovely, welcoming staff and we thought breakfast was great value with plenty of choice. Recommended

Spacious room in the main house. Staff v polite and helpful. Disappointingly basic room fit out though. No fridge, no room info leaflet with breakfast times on it etc and most disappointingly, in a suite room, no toiletries available except an all in one shower gel and shampoo pump bottle attached to the wall. I asked at reception if they had any conditioner but they didn't. Even travelodge has lotion and hair conditioner! Maybe a small thing, but I booked this place and a nice room as a one off after rare work event, and room smellies are part of the treat of staying at a hotel. (booking.com specifically mentioned toiletries on the listing also, which is misleading).

Very nice place to stay, friendly staff and lovely food. The dog liked it too. Would recommend

We had a lovely time here the staff were very friendly and attentive The hotel was in a lovely location The rooms were very clean had toiletries Our dog was very well looked after and had sausage for breakfast We cannot praise the staff and service we recieved Only thing was being a little in the larger size a king size bed would have been better but we will make sure next time we visit

I attended a wedding. Everything was organised and on time. The food was great, bar staff excellent and the room very clean 👌

Absolutely perfect stay. We stayed for two nights, before and after our wedding. The staff couldn't do more for myself and my family. The food was brilliant, they catered for all allergies, they were very accommodating. The staff we polite, happy and friendly, they could answer all questions Thank you such for the most perfect few days and making our wedding stress free!

We have just spent Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day with our dog at Bagden Hall and it was superb! From the moment we arrived we were made welcome by all the staff and their excellence continued until the moment we left. Our room was clean, warm and extremely comfortable and this reflected the rest of the hotel. The food was lovely with a good choice and our dog was served sausages for breakfast and a Christmas dinner! The setting is first class, in acres of woodland, plenty of walks for the dog and to burn off a few calories.... I wouldn't hesitate in recommending and we have booked for next year....

Had an enjoyable overnight stay after attending a wedding here. Was delighted to find that I had my room upgraded to a suite when I arrived. I was in room 2 in the main building. However, I'm unsure as to why it would be called a suite as it was just an en-suite hotel room with no extras as far as I could see. Room was clean and very well maintained despite this being a traditional hotel room, in keeping with the age of the building. It was also very comfortable. The building was lovely and only minus point here was that one of the corridors on the way to my daughter's room was cold and smelt strongly fishy (as it did when you were outside that part of the building). The staff were very polite and there was always somebody on hand to see to our needs. Breakfast was good (but then I only had cereal and toast), though the cooked option looked nice. Our one disappointment was the fact that we were told there were no mushrooms, and after we had placed our order. As I only wanted a light breakfast of poached egg and mushrooms, I decided not to bother with a cooked breakfast at all. I would recommend this hotel overall.

We stayed here for my nieces wedding on 21st December the hotel is stunning the staff cannot do enough for you i just have 1 little complaint the room was very cold and noone told us what to do i did ring reception but couldn't get through other than that it was a truly amazing day and a wonderful stay

This was our very first visit to Bagden Hall. We felt that we were made very welcome, including our little dog, who was very pleased with her complimentary packet of doggy treats. The extensive hotel grounds were very useful for dog walking.. We enjoyed the food that we had whilst at the hotel. We did wonder if the menu varied from week to week. If not it could become a little repetitive after a while. I should have asked about that, but didn't. The hotel is in very good condition and the rooms are clean and tidy.

Great place, wonderful staff, heaerty breakfast, clean room - everything one can ask for.

I took my mum for afternoon tea it was amazing very good for the price and will be doing it again soon

Another great stay at our favourite hotel. We stayed 3 nights this time. As usual all the staff were excellent. The weather was not very kind to us but we still had a really nice stay. Looking forward to our first visit next year. Keep up the great work that you all do at Bagden Hall.

Had our wedding here on the 5th of December. They went above and beyond to make our wedding day as memorable as possible. The staff were attentive and Caroline made sure everything ran smoothly with no stress to us. We stayed in the bridal-suite which was beautiful. Thank you so much we cannot wait to come and stay again.

Lovely place with helpful and polite staff. A comfortable, pleasant bar area and the breakfast and service was exceptional. They love the dogs. I would certainly recommend this Lovely hotel.

A lovely hidden gem. Superb place for weddings. We enjoyed a two night stay Saturday till Monday and were spoilt rotten.

I booked last minute via booking.com and have done a full review there. Basically we lived local and due to adverse weather forecast for safety we booked a room. We were in the lakeside view building and it was warm, very clean and had everything we needed. I knew the location, had done my research so knew what to expect but it actually exceeded my expectations. All staff we met from reception to housekeeping and the chap with the unenviable task of trying to Clear off the snow and ice off the long drive were lovely. Thank you to all.

All staff courteous, very obliging, helpful and efficient. Bedroom and bathroom of most acceptable standard.

Recently stayed here for a family wedding. Which was lovely but unfortunately our room wasn’t so much considering our circumstances. I’ve got an almost 6 month old and we was allocated a room on the 2nd floor which was a struggle to get her pram up and down the stairs multiple times a day as there isn’t a lift. We also got charged an extra £10 per night for her when we hadn’t borrowed nothing or had any food for her. Most of the staff were lovely but some seemed like they couldn’t care less.

Had a lovely overnight stay at the hotel. Room 2 allocated, very traditional keeping in the period of the hotel. All staff were attentive and informed. Great breakfast, plenty of choice. Deluxe afternoon tea was great, you choose your sandwich filling. Dairy free ordered and this was not an issue at all so thank you. Lovely surroundings too.

Apart from the Danish Pastry and the Pre-Bottled cocktails, very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Lovely hotel, this is the fourth time of stopping here, as we travel over from Ireland to visit family and friends, staff are very nice, grounds are well kept, food is always nice, if you’ve not stopped here at Christmas I recommend you do, it’s lovely.

I recently attended a wedding here and stayed for one night. I had a light lunch which was very nice and reasonably priced. I’d booked a small double room believing that it would be a slightly smaller room than the ones in the photos but within our budget. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The room was probably the smallest I have ever stayed in! My husband was unable to come at the last minute which was quite ‘fortunate’ as we would have really struggled to both get ready in the tiny amount of space in the room! The radiator didn’t work at all as the regulator seemed broken. Also, the shower curtain over the bath was very old and stained black along the bottom edge. Along with having to pay an extra £25 to gain access to the room early made this overnight stay an expensive stay with quite poor value for money.

As a hotel, seeing it from the outside, it is a well presented classical building. The rooms themselves were also well presented although a bit basic at points. For example, a big bathroom with a sizeable shower, but no shelf to put bottles on. As one might expect from the building, sound travels a lot. With a wedding on, there were excitable children running down the halls at points, and above us and it was incredibly noisy. The food at the hotel was good, fancy enough for it to feel like more than your typical meal but nothing too fancy that you'd think it's going to be too grand for the average person. It was very enjoyable. Staff were a mix of friendly and disinterested depending on who you dealt with. My biggest complaint would be the showers didn't provide hot water well which is a big thing for me. My wife wanted a shower and ended up with it going cold on her. When I took one the next morning it took ages but it eventually went warm. My guess is that it depends on how many guests are showering at one time. This was an anniversary for us to the point we did the whole "rose petals" on the bed package. It was okay but nothing felt overly special during our stay.

Absolutely loved our stay. We had our vow renewal service here and it was faultless. The gent in charge of us on the morning was called Kurtis same name as our son. He was very calming and reassured us continually. He e would definitely recommend holding a wedding /party/ if any kind here and we will definitely be coming back.

Stunning wedding venue where we recently had the pleasure of having ours. We have been looked after since booking by Abbey, Marisa and Kurtis, who have been so accomodating and supportive of our requests throughout. All the staff at the hotel are friendly. We've visited a number of times now for meals including the afternoon tea and Sunday roast and the food has been delicious each time, with generous portions! Absolutely would recommend this hotel as a fantastic place to stay, that is great value and has nice scenery.

My husband and I had an enjoyable two day break staying in the main house, we was upgraded to a suite whilst booking direct, the room was lovely, a huge ensuite with free standing bath and large walk-in shower.. the staff was welcoming, courteous and polite, food excellent, the setting of Bagden Hall within it’s own garden was beautiful, I loved the folly by the lake, I visited it just before sundown, the ducks was coming back home and landing on the lake for the night, felt really special, overall well worth the stay 🙂

The hotel was very good old worldly and the the food was excellent the staff were very polite, helpful and friendly excellent service , really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely stay for one night, a great base for visiting the surrounding areas including Cannon Hall Farm. Staff are friendly and attentive. Special mentions to Caroline for the fan (thank you!), and Sam who was serving on the bar. Last time we visited about 15 years ago it was busy with a wedding, we had deliberately chosen a week day this time so it was quieter, which we preferred. Breakfast was good, as were our Bistro evening meals. We will hopefully return again soon.

My wife and I recently enjoyed our first visit to this hotel for a 3 night break. It wont be our last. From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the location of the hotel, set in wonderful panoramic views. We were very impressed with the proffessionalism of all members of staff from the front of house , all the members of waiting staff in the restaurant, as well as the bar staff . I would like to say a big thank you to Rachael in housekeeping as nothing was too much trouble for her. A special mention must be given to the kitchen staff who we didn't meet but who provided meals of exceptional quality. There was plenty of choice both at breakfast and of an evening. Everything was cooked to perfection, piping hot and so delicious. Thank you all for a wonderful memorable stay. As the big man says, We'll be back.

An excellent hotel in a part of West Yorkshire where there's limited choice. Very comfortable, and well run by capable people who care about their work. A good restaurant and bar. Cost is very attractive for the level of service they provide. Result.

Pleasant country house hotel in attractive grounds. Service and staff were excellent and food and value for money very good. Disappointing to be asked to pay for the room on arrival rather than on departure, but we enjoyed a pleasant stay

Imposing building. Very helpful staff. Good bedside lighting. Good size comfortable bed not smothered in pointless cushions but good pillows. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast with excellent staff. Good wifi. Quiet. The main suprise was the very reasonable price. We 'found' it looking for somewhere close to the excellent Yorkshire sculpture park and would certainly recommend it

An amazing venue for my step daughters wedding, Very friendly staff who left you feeling nothing was any trouble. Very comfortable quiet rooms. All food was to a high standard, the cherry on top being that all this was set among beautifully managed gardens and views to die for.

I’d like to thank all at Bagden Hall for they have done for us over the past 2 weekends. Had my daughters weeding last week and my wife and I renewed our weeding vows yesterday. Couldn’t have asked for any more, everything was spot on. Thanks again Linda & Nigel

We came to spend the night after going to the Yorkshire sculpture park and found the place to be really lovely. I will happily go back again, the Staff were Super helpful, very kind and thoughtful. The room was lovely, we had a suite, and it was large, airy and clean with a beautiful bath. Thank you everyone there for a lovely day.

Recently stayed in the cuttlehurst suite. Lovely spacious room. Super attentive, friendly and helpful staff. They made us both and our dog feel at home immediately. Great breakfast and evening meal, will 100% be back!

Booked for a nights stay on a special offer. Admittedly it was a very low price but I received a confirmation. The next day it was cancelled without any explanation. I contacted reservations who could not help. Said they would ask someone to contact me. That was three days ago. 🤷 Very unprofessional.

Really nice afternoon tea and good service. Nice sandwiches, scones with proper clotted cream and variety of cakes. Just the right amount, we got through it having not eaten lunch but couldn't have eaten any more. The only minor disappointment was the loose leaf tea was out of stock so while specialty tea was available we had this in teabags. We got a big teapot each and were offered more hot water but it would have been better to get a smaller pot plus extra water to help avoid stewing. Paid with a gift voucher. We did have issues with the website the voucher came from and wouldn't use that site again but that wasn't the fault of the hotel.

The suite in the main house was great. The wooden staircase in combination with red gave you that warm feeling. Breakfast menu was very good and enough choice. Pls invest in better teapots because they are leaking when pouring. The coffee percolator and pots were far too big for 1 person and 90% was a waste. Dinner portions in the small area (I had pasta with mushrooms) were far too big that it's not attractive anymore and lots of waste.

We held my late father's funeral reception at Bagden Hall in December 2023. It was extremely disappointing to say the least. We paid £18.95 per head for a buffet. This was planned for 25 people but the food was barely sufficient for the 14 attendees. The bread was stale and the variety was poor and certainly did not reflect the price paid. Response from management was wholly defensive and did not accept our complaint. Go to the local chip shop instead or perhaps Burger King. Dreadful.
