I stopped on a cold, rainy day, in between a visit to the physiotherapy clinic and a 'falls prevention workshop' opposite, and was delighted! I'd almost despaired of getting a really good flat white in Huddersfield, and boy was it strong! Accompanied by a lovely piece of flapjack, brought to my table. Couldn't have been nicer. Might have been a quiet day, but most of the tables were taken. I genuinely thought 'What a nice place'.

Food is terrible. Isn’t the best place for a coffee. Many better places around Meltham. Staff and rude not very good.

First visit and last. £4.00 for beans on toast. Cheap beans, cheap bread. Small portion of beans in a ramekin! 2 slices of bread you butter yourself. So, not really beans on toast more a DIY kit. £2.50 for a small pot of tea. Place itself not too bad. Service was nothing special. Would I return? No.

This little cafe is a gem. The sausage sandwich is great and so cheap compared to other places. The staff are always friendly and welcoming.

It was great to visit Café 33 again. The place is big enough to social distance and it is clean, well organised and feels safe during these strange items. Gemma and Jane are simply fantastic people, they always have time to chat and of course make a mean brew and crumpets.. Recommended.

Apart from the wonderful food, the best thing about this cafe is the delightful, friendly ladies who run it. They've always got a smile, always happy to help and are always so generous to elderly mother who accompanies me every week. Five stars without hesitation.

Situated in the small Pennine town of Meltham, Gerry's is a lovely cafe on the high street. The ladies who run the place are polite, kind and generous to a fault. They are always happy to see you and they serve up some lovely food. I visit on a regular basis with my elderly mother and the ladies always look after her, which is brilliant. The coffee is great and the food is spot on (try the healthy breakfast, it's great). Highly recommended.

I live in Meltham so am lucky to have this cafe on my doorstep. I visit regularly on my own or with family and friends. I have sampled most of the menu now (breakfast and lunch!!) and my favourites are pie and peas, hummus and pitta or a hot sandwich. There is always a good selection of tempting cakes too! My daughter, Ella (Age 5) loves visiting and often asks if we can “go to Gemma’s cafe” after school. We have been going since she was born so she feels very at home now! My parents don’t live locally but when they visit they often suggest that we go for lunch. It is a very popular cafe and that is due to the warm welcome you receive from Gemma, Jane and the team. They are the reason we go so often! See you soon ladies for my usual skinny latte and whatever treat I am tempted by at the time!!

I had some rare 1:1 time with my eldest daughter and so decided to take her to Gerry’s Café as a special treat, today. We used to go a lot when she was a toddler, so I thought it would be a nice little trip down memory lane. We initially had a lovely time together, although I’d noticed that the owner was stomping around and quite rudely slammed our drinks down on our table, before stomping off again. Ever the benefit of the doubt giver, I assumed she was perhaps not having a great day and tried not to let it spoil our lunch. However, when I went to pay the bill at the end, she waited until she had taken my money and then entered into a bizarre tirade from nowhere, whilst I could only stand there in shock. Apparently, she was under the impression that a negative review she had received a year or so ago (yes- really!) had been written by me, and she was incredibly angry about this. My daughter was very upset and confused as to why her mum was being spoken to in this way. As was I. I didn’t leave the last review, but I do feel compelled to leave this one. Never have I been spoken to so rudely or confrontationally by anyone, let alone at an establishment where I am simply a friendly, polite and paying customer. The owner was also happy to do this in front of the rest of her customers, who looked on in astonishment, and her staff (great example set!), as well as my 9 year old daughter. Bizarre behaviour that put a real dampener on our special day together, and was also an unfortunately premature lesson to my daughter in what ‘grown up’ bullies look like. Needless to say, we will not be returning, nor will our friends and family.

One of the most unappetizing breakfasts that we have had for a long time. The portions looked mean and not as depicted in the advertising picture. Each person on our table had their meal brought at a different time - there was a mistake with a crumpet and they took it back to serve it to someone else! Toast was put on to a wrong order and had to be left as it was soggy. A poached egg was returned as it looked to have blood in (this can happen to completely fresh eggs so this was not a problem) what was unacceptable was the propetiers attitude to the customer - she refused to take back and insisted it was fine. ! Such a shame to spoil your reputation for an egg. Will not be eating breakfast there again as atmosphere not welcoming. Just one more thing.......Please dust the crumbs out of the groove in the tables.

I've just had the worst breakfast I can remember. 2 slices of toast mushrooms tomato, and scrambled eggs were ok,2 deep fried sausage probably acceptable, the 2 most inedible slices of desiccated bacon (which I assume had been cooked earlier and microwaved to the point of being so small and hard as to be too hard to cut).

Excellent service. Good food. Reasonable prices. The staff are friendly, attentive and efficient without being sycophantic. The food is good and fresh and there is a pleasant, cosy atmosphere in this light and airy café. I would like to say a special thank you to the staff for being tolerant of two of us sitting with our laptops and cameras looking at photos over our tea and coffee. I would recommend Café 33. You won't be disappointed.

Our Meltham Healthy Walking group end up here every Monday morning for coffee and other drinks and it is where dogs under supervision and boots are welcome. This is so important because Meltham is the staring point for many lovely walks for hiking grouos and walkers. We always get a warm welcome from Graham and his staff and benefit from the loyalty card with a free hot drink after five stamps. It's also a good place to pop into whilst shopping and sit at one of the comfy armchairs reading a newspaper or playing a game of scrabble. Cafee 33 also provides the refreshments for the Carlile Institute community centre and Post Office over the road.

Since moving to the area two months ago I've visited Cafe 33 three times. On my first visit my partner and I stopped in for tea and a slice of cake and were very impressed - my beetroot and white chocolate cake was delicious and his vanilla slice went down a treat. They offer an extensive range of teas and coffees, including some rather unusual ones, and we were spoilt for choice. Since then we have been back with family for lunch and were even given a complimentary selection of nibbles to enjoy during the short wait for our food, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our most recent visit was about a week ago in which we just popped in to enjoy a cup of tea as well as the consistently lovely service.

Stopped in here for a pot of earl grey tea today. The café is pleasingly set out and has the benefit of free Wi-Fi which works well. There was a large range of good looking cakes on display and a quite extensive menu. I only wanted a drink today but will certainly return and try out the food. I heard a customer complimenting them on the soup and the options of hot beef and pulled pork sandwiches or filled Yorkshire puddings sounded very appealing. You place your order at the counter which gives you a chance to look at the cakes while you wait for the drink.
