There were menu items marked “available gluten free”. I specifically said I was allergic to gluten and my meal needed to be gluten free. I asked them to make sure nothing containing gluten was put on the plate. They put pickled beetroot on my salad. Pickled in barley malt vinegar. When my mouth started to burn I asked if the vinegar was gluten free? The lady in the kitchen said yes, it only contains barley. I had to tell her that barley is gluten! I tried to be brave but five minutes later I ran down to the toilets and vomited. They didn’t even come down to see if I was ok or if I needed an ambulance or anything (luckily I didn’t). I’ve been ill for two days now. Do not eat here if you have allergies or need a free from meal!

Best lunch spot in batley, with amazing staff and a lovely owner. Also has the best egg mayo sandwich I’ve ever had!

Delicious food, healthy large portions and good service. This cafe is hidden away in Redbricks and is quieter than the main cafe.

Now that’s how you make a BLT, it was absolutely delicious. Gorgeous thick granary bread, with delicious chicken, bacon and salad. Served with crisps, salad and coleslaw. Service was excellent too.

Lovely little cafe, selective menu with some specials. More high end given the shop it is in, which is great for combining lunch and home decor shopping

Fabulous service, lovely coffee and cake Choices, in a dog friendly environment. Particularly liked the fact the team heard us discussing sharing a cake option, so served it to us as a sharer 👍

I go here fairly regularly both with friends and partner. We can take our dog and she always gets water and biscuits. Food is good and staff very nice.

Sat down and given menus. Two other tables sat down after and their orders taken. No one came to take ours, sat very near service area. We just left - 10 mins after sitting down and receiving menus.

One of the few pleasures left in life for those aged curmudgeons like me is to find somewhere to eat that you simply can't fault. Fig and Olive is one such place. My wife and I popped in for a quick cup of tea and discovered some marvellous scones and Bakewell slices (produced by a local bakery) that were simply delightful. It's a great place to relax and enjoy a break while out shopping Thank you, Vanessa, and your team. You made our day!

A great choice on the menu and friendly efficient service. Also a good choice for vegetarians... and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Will be returning.

Really friendly service and very efficient, nice surroundings too. Good range of cakes and other treats as well as a more extensive menu. On the expensive side but competitive with the other outlets in Redbrick. Reminiscent of the cafe that used to be near the entrance on the ground floor in the way they garnish with fruit and dust things with icing sugar.

Simple menu, very tasty and fresh food. Good coffee, good cakes. Nice laid back setting and a lot less posy than the other Red Brick Mill cafe! In my view a much better option!

We like to visit this coffee shop when at Red Brick Mill. The shortbread is awesome and my son is loving the strawberry and vanilla cake. I like the little forks!

Their sandwiches are absolutely divine!my wife had chicken & avocado with a lovely flavoured mayonnaise on whole grain & I had mango chicken in mayonnaise on ciabatta- I both came with a lovely small salad with balsamic dressing & a generous portion of crisps. We couldn’t manage a piece of cake each (apparently!) so we shared a piece of pistachio caramel sponge. They didn’t give us two forks as I asked, instead they cut it in half for us and gave two plates! We had our coffees (a latte & a cappuccino) with the cake and both were really good. A place to come back to without a doubt - and the staff were very friendly, helpful and unobtrusive 😎

This bright and airy space makes for the perfect stop off after a day at Red Brick. Large, fresh sandwiches served with salad and crisps, nothing overly fancy, but absolutely delicious! The few times I've been here, the cakes are always changing so I've tried something different on each occasion. My favourite is the raspberry and white chocolate cake, or lemon polenta. We will definitely be back!

We always stop off at the Fig and OLive after visiting the English Framing Company. The sandwiches are large, fresh and tasty with good crisps and tasty salad accompaniment . We share a cafetiere of great coffee and if feeling peckish have some cakes which are yummy. All brought to your table in a quiet relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Called in for breakfast on Sunday morning. The staff were lovely. The ingredients used are good quality. Their scrambled egg was really nice. The full breakfast is quite expensive but it was good although there was no butter for the toast. We did ask for some but they forget to bring it! The tomato ketchup is a bit strange. It's more like a paste. The poached eggs we nice and runny and the homemade beans and chickpeas were really good. The avocado on toast with feta and pear was also really good. Would definitely eat there again.

Fig and Olive is in one corner of the ground floor of Redbrick Mill and by the time we had got that far round, we were ready for a sit down and a bite to eat. The staff were friendly and quickly brought us menus and took our order. It was a nice relaxing place to sit, with a couple of magazines on the table to flick through while we waited. I had a very nice quiche with a big (and interesting) salad, while M had a pesto chicken salad which he enjoyed too. We didn't have room but the cakes in the counter looked great - another time, maybe.

My local. Great pub. As an ale and craft beer drinker, options are limited, but this is a village pub catering for everyone, so can't focus on one type of clientèle, so provides more options across all tastes, rather than just a more niche group. People are friendly as are the staff and you can see in the age range how this pub services its' community.

I had lunch there with my daughter today. Whilst the food was super, we asked for some allergy advice. We were offered a large file of all the allergy issues for everything on the menu. I have never seen such attention to detail and the restaurant and staff deserve to be lauded for not only having this file but the charming and friendly way in which it was handled. We had a lovely time there. Thanks to everyone. Great beer too!

I visited Leggers for dinner and a drink to celebrate a birthday . The menu looked great and would have been if half of my main meal wasn’t cold . Chips and peppercorn sauce were tepid . I ask for my fillet steak rare and it was cooked through . Everyone else’s chips and sauce were cold too. My meal was changed without question and with a smile . I had the stew and dumplings , it was piping hot and very nice . It was quiet so I don’t know why the food was cold . The overall experience was good and the bar staff , especially Lydia were lovely and very friendly . I would have preferred to be able to buy a 750ml bottle of red wine rather than those little ones . All other colours of wine came in large bottles so don’t know why red didn’t . Would I go again? …. Yes but not for a celebratory meal . I may have expected too much from a pub . The meals that were coming out for other people looked lovely especially the Yorkshire pudding sharing platter , it was massive .

This place is a hidden gem! We had a dinner, bed and breakfast package for just one night and it was amazing value for money. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. There was an extensive menu choice for our evening meal and all the items we ordered were good quality, well cooked and generous in terms of portion size. The beer was well kept and the wine list surprisingly good and reasonably priced in my view. We had the full English breakfast in the morning with items being locally sourced and high quality. The coffee was good and the toast was made from artisan sourdough bread. The staff are terrific, being friendly, polite and professional and they worked together as a well-organised team. One last thing to mention is that the Olive Branch is perfectly located for walks along the canal.
