Loads of real ales, great atmosphere, and the lighting is spot on! ( my local has uncomfortable seating and is lit up like a Christmas tree...its awful, oh and NO real ale. Disaster!!). The White Horse is a brilliant place to call.

A pub with a view. Ossett beer is good and there is a guest ale too. It is a friendly locals pub in the village of Emley. Sat outside and watched tractors whizz by.

Cracking village pub with excellent selection of ossett hand pulled beers.

I called in for a Friday evening meal having read positive reviews on here. They were not doing food so I just stayed for a beer then moved on. The beer was very good from local Ossett Brewery. But the pub had that annoying trait of all the locals congregating around the bar so you can't get near to get served. They should publicise on their website when they are serving food.

In a time if restrictions one would think the landlady would wash her hand's after collecting glasses and petting a dog sadly not.

Lovely pub, great views, great beers and ales as always with Ossett Pubs. Unsure if they're doing food, says they do a carvery on the building but couldn't see anything on the app or website about it.

Called in after a walk and ordered drinks via the QR code outside. Payment processed but after 15 minutes still no drinks. When questioned the landlord said there was a problem with the system, brought the drinks and assured me that 1st payment wouldn't go though even though it was showing as pending in my banking app. He insisted that I payed again even though I wasn't happy. Now both payments have been taken so I've been charged £14.80 for 2 drinks! Any decent landlord would've accepted responsibility and not insisted on another payment.

Excellent food and great atmosphere. Service was very good, nice and friendly. Bar staff are very nice and nothing was too much trouble. This is a really lovely pub. Shame they don’t do food during the week but I think they will in the future. Beer was very well kept and there is a great choice too with 8 hand pulls to choose from. Something for everyone and well worth a visit. Go on, give it a go.

After reading positive reviews and being a foodie and keen to support local businesses, I invited my daughter out for lunch last Sunday, when we arrived we were met by a strong smell of bleach/cleaning products, the bar was almost empty and they told us they weren’t doing Sunday lunches that day as ‘she’ was having a day off. I assumed that because it was so quiet the staff had used this opportunity to do some cleaning hence the smell. Not one to be put off so easily I returned this week with my partner (after phoning to ensure ‘she’ wasn’t having another day off). On arrival it was once again quiet in the bar and there was once again the smell of bleach/cleaning, we refused a drink in the bar due to this and went to the restaurant where there was just two customers. The smell was just lingering in the restaurant so decided to order drinks and roast dinner. We were given menus (A4 sheet of paper which was water damaged and stained) we fancied a starter but other than prawn cocktail all the other starters were deep fried so decided to give them a mss and ordered one pork roast and one turkey roast without the creamed mashed, we were then told creamed mash wasn’t being served today even though it stated on the menu. The food arrived and without seeming unkind I will describe what we were served Yorkshire pudding very well over cooked Carrots boiled not a lot of taste not aldente but not soggy Cauliflower boiled not aldente but not soggy Cabbage boiled soggy tasteless Roast potato so over cooked we couldn’t cut it Turkey ok not succulent but not dry either Pork, stringy, tough to chew with strange taste Gravy very nice Needles to say I left most of my dinner When asked if we’d enjoyed our meal my partner just commented on the pork and we appreciated the chef coming to ask us about the pork, she was apologetic and said it had been purchased from the local farm shop but there was nothing she could do other than apologies. I have to say I was rather alarmed at the chef’s nails which was painted bright pink and the polish was all chipped, I thought chefs and people working with food should not wear nail polish in relation to food hygiene. Needless to say we won’t be going back and wish we’d gone in March when the reviews were raving!

There is a surprisingly wide selection of beers, and also quite a friendly welcome. A room to one side can be reserved for functions, for which you are permitted to bring outside caterer's food into - or even just a pile of pizzas.

Great Pub , Great Ales etc. , and yes the Food back on ,, thanks to New Management. Eaten there on at least 6 occasions now and no complaints . Good menu and to go with the good food , friendly helpful staff to look after you , thanks Suzanne keep it going ;-)

Booked in for an impromptu Sunday Lunch as I had not been shopping and was well pleased. The pub is under new management and only recently started doing lunches. We chose all 3 meats and each was very tasty. The veg was just as I like with a bit of crunch, hate soggy veg, and both myself and my husband commented on how fresh everything tasted. The Yorkshire pudding was huge and just like mum makes. Sadly had no room for pudding but will definitely visit again and hopefully take dessert as a take out. Wonderful prompt, polite service and we both truly enjoyed it - Well done to all staff at the White Horse.

We've just returned from a lovely Sunday dinner at the White Horse. 👌 We're really pleased to see that the food is back on as it was great! 👍 I had a small Sunday dinner and there was plenty - I'm pleased I had a small plate as it meant there was space left for a pudding 😜! The chocolate cake was gorgeous (even though I didn't see much of it, as our son devoured it)!!!! We'll definitely be returning!!

This was only the 2nd Sunday the pub had food available after the kitchen closed last June. Three of us ate in the lovely dining room. We all had a main course roast dinner. There were three types of meat available - beef, turkey, ham- and you could have a bit of each if you wished. The meal was excellent-veg nice and firm, great Yorkshire puds, lashings of rich gravy and the meat was tender. The service was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. No room for dessert today! We will return.

Food has started again at the White Horse. Called today with two friends Had a really good Sunday roast lunch. Good choice of starters and desserts but I could only manage the roast. Good selection of meats and well cooked veg. Thank goodness food is back on. Deserves to succeed.

The new landlady is lovely, very welcoming the beer is good too !

Called for a beer on the way home from a day out. We were rather surprised to find that we could not get to the bar! This was due to the fact that the bar was surrounded by people, when there was loads of space to sit or stand away from the bar area It is intimidating and awkward to get served under these circumstances. the lady behind the bar did her best to serve us even though I had to force my way through to pay and retrieve our drinks!! There should be a clearly defined area, kept clear, to allow customers to access the bar.

The landlord here is very welcoming yet the young barmaid was exceptionally rude. No one at the other side of the bar should be swearing and she barely acknowledged our order. This is such a shame because the beer is well kept and the atmosphere is great. The barmaid needs to be taught to use good manners to customers and to be respectful. I shall with pleasure be returning to the white horse but hopefully when it’s not her shift!!

Walked a long way with sticks. Only to be told the pub does not serve hot food. And have not for 2 or 3 months. Even though it is advertised on the outside of the building, inside, and across the road. Disgusted. Will not recommend.

I regularly go into the White Horse to meet family and friends. Pub is very dog friendly and keeps it’s beer particularly well. Staff are always friendly and polite. On my most recent visit I tried the excelsior which was served to a top standard. Lovely people.

Visited after long walk around flockton and emley. Food and service fantastic. Restaurant was full but upper bar area available. The carvery was one of the best I have had. Waitress service was excellent. Thoroughly recommend. Beware of the desert portions could feed two easily. Will be visiting more regularly now.

Great local pub, I always get a warm welcome and great real ale. Food is being served again and we have found it to be reasonably priced and good quality. Outdoor area not massive but it's not really that type of pub. Dogs are welcome if your out walking in the area.

On a snowy Sunday evening decided ro walk up to the 'local' as we have just moved into the village. The staff could not have been more helpful. All four of us had the carvery meal which was excellent, well cooked and the meat was so tender. Good beer and a nice bottle of wine. We all had sticky toffee pudding for dessert, home cooked and great. Will be back very soon.

We visited last weekend and had a main course sat in the bar. Food was very good quality and the staff were really helpful. Traditional pub food done really well and worth a visit. It’s great to have food back at this pub after such along break without. Please support it!

Started serving food again and wow ! The staff are natural and friendly feel so relaxed and comfy as soon as you enter , great beers and great service , not found a pub with toilets like these so clean , the ambiance is perfect candles lite and fire burning in grate , it's dog friendly also and in the summer lovely outside seating .

He estado aquí en muchas ocasiones por una pinta, varias cervezas de barril siempre y un buen ambiente, especialmente temprano puertas. Pero al ordenar algunos cervecería Ossett servicio de comida en este lugar! Usted podría hacerlo mucho mejor! ! He de decir que, aunque me encanta su ales - especialmente de la rata Blanca Rata Brewery.

Tuesday night quiz night, good quiz and excellent free food

Por recomendación de nuestros anfitriones, nos detuvimos en el caballo blanco para una comida. El personal era muy amable, y más que contento de ayudar. Filetes eran increíbles (ahumado especial se recomienda Consejo Tri) como las patatas fritas (fácilmente el mejor que he tenido en mucho tiempo). Sin duda volvería!

The kitchen has closed a while back, but the variation of ales are great, and ossetts prices are low.

Popped in for a pint prior to watching Emley v Hallam at the football ground down the road. Wished I hadn't. What is it with Emley (see my review of The Wentworth). There were about a dozen in the pub, all sat, ape like, at the bar leaving no gaps. No one looked round or said a cheery hello. Waited to be served but the locals were served, out of turn, before me. I left without making any purchase and shall not come back.

Estado aquí un par de ocasiones, la primera fue excepcional y una gran relación calidad-precio, para 5 personas, aunque me hubiera gustado comer 60 libras.

Gran pueblo local con excelente selección de cervezas Cervecería Ossett además de cervezas, comida encantadora asados, chimenea y un personal muy amable y clientes habituales. ¡Me encanta!

Fuimos para una bebida en diciembre con mi hermano y socio. Muy oscuro y lleno. No recomendaría la sidra a menos que estés en su tradicional sidras

A lovely country pub/restaurant with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Martin the manager has been at this location for approximately 1 year and has turned this pub into somewhere you want to visit time an again. The food we had was first class and served with a very large dose of professionalism and friendliness. High recommend the White Horse

Visited Sunday afternoon with 20 friends after a long walk to YSP and back. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Had a nice meal from the carvery . Good choice of meats and plenty of veg. We didn't bother with starters or sweet. To full from the ample portions. Pub is nice and clean, open fire and a good choice of beers. No probs in recommending.

This was our first visit. The choice if starters was poor. The carvery and deserts were excellent. Great choice of real ales at good prices. Overall a very welcoming pub.

Went here for Sunday carvery lunch, highly recommend as all the meat and veg is fresh. The quantity of meat is more than enough and you can get as much veg s you like. The dessert menu is lacking in variety but nevertheless nice.
