KIN Restaurant in Kirklees

Visited Kin this morning. A warm welcome on arrival and had our pick of available tables. We had a leisurely breakfast, a Full English, regular size which was ample and a Corn Fritter. Both were delicious , well presented and quickly served. Mentioned it was my birthday. When I went to pay the bill I was surprised with a complementary piece of cake 😀 Brilliant. Thanks Kin ,😀

Lovely + spacious Great service Didn't eat in but looked good

I brought my mum here for her birthday The food was appalling, the staff were under par When I complained they simply said ah ok And walked off!!! Only warm coffee. Ordered latte and got cappachino. Hair in food. Burnt toast. Egg not cooked to my request Not allowed to change from potato to chips although other diner had ordered chips. Didn't have Sweet corn critters. Butter used from something else. Only 2 brown sugars. Pulled beef cold. MyMums consulsive comment from her pulled pork meal was - nicest thing about the meal was the water. Asked for brown sauce and got mayonnaise and tutted at when rerequested brown sauce My meal was a veggie breakfast My mum's birthday was trashed thanks to KIN serving staff and an incompetent chef! I even asked if the chef was actually trained cos the mistakes were on the basics!!! Terrible terrible terrible

Food is average at best far too expensive for what u get £4 for average cup of tea and a breakfast for 14.50 which was extremely poor. Tomatoes are still raw never seen the oven, mushroom lack flavour taste boiled, potatoes have no flavour. Pepper on the table is white i would expect black with a breakfast menu. Not for me.

This is my weekly treat with my lovely dog Luna, it’s nice having somewhere to go where I can take my girl, the staff are great especially Georgie who is always there to greet us with a smile on her face and the food is lovely, never disappointed ☺️

Lovely lunch sat on the patio, food was excellent. Served in great time and presented lovely. Service was perfect, Ben and liv both looked after us very well. Will definitely be back.

Fantastic food served by 2 lovely waiters who were very obliging to my needs as an 80 year-old. Ben and Liv couldn't do enough to satisfy me. Lovely to see young people so nice as they usually get a rough ride. Would highly recommend Kin any time of day. They open every day.

Came with my Mum for lunch and what a fantastic time we had. Divine coffee and delicious food. Menu is just perfect & something for everyone. Especially recommend the eggs Benedict and roasted chickpea/ halloumi/beetroot sandwich. Our waiter was super friendly and really lovely atmosphere. We will be back again soon for sure! The ONLY criticism was that the toilets could be cleaner.

The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was well-cooked and presented. I had a full English breakfast and the produce was obviously of very good quality. This was my second visit and I shall definitely return.

Slightly hidden away restaurant/cafe in a row of industrial buildings. Decor inside was OK - needs a bit more character maybe some pictures? Two breakfasts consumed were great. Highly recommend. Service was efficient. Would visit again.

Brilliant place to eat. Food first class and personal service.

Bang average food served extremely slowly. Drinks orders forgotten, service underwhelming at best. It's a shame as the place has potential but we sadly won't be back.

We called in for b'fast whilst waiting for small chip repair on the van. What a feast of a menu! Lots to choose from. Both tea & coffee where very good too! We appreciated the bottle of water brought to the table (un requested) & our dog was made welcome. We would like a shout out to Ben for his excellent service!

Second time visit today had just picked up my dog from the Whole Groom near by last week and called in for coffee. Really nice inside and friendly so much so been again today with a friend she was also impressed. The young man that served us today so friendly and interactive a credit to you we will be back.

Lovely food. Would recommend pastrami on sourdough. Brilliant service. Staff were excellent 👍

This was the first time of visiting Kin we were given a voucher for christmas wow food was fantastic ,service perfect ,It was quiet when we went but that didn't take away from the experience of a first visit will definitely put it on our list of places to go highly recommended x

Food and drinks were nice although a somewhat disappointing experience. I visited here with my boyfriend after he had previously had an excellent experience, I ordered the carrot & coriander soup which is meant to be served with sourdough bread and that was one of the reasons I ordered it. It arrived with a relatively stale slice of what looked to be farmhouse bloomer. No staff came over to check how our meal was, so I left the bread and then when the waiter came to collect the plate I said about how it was ‘a bit disappointing it was meant to come with sourdough’ to which the waiter replied ‘oh right well we could’ve fixed that for you’ - when? No one came to check and it wasn’t possible to get the staffs attention. There was then no mention of this when we went to pay - I would have never accepted a discount as I know this is a small business, but some acknowledgement/apology would’ve been nice. The rest of the meal was nice, my soup was fresh and my boyfriend ordered the belly pork sandwich, and we also got a side of hot honey halloumi to share which was really nice. We also ordered a latte and an iced matcha which were both really lovely. I would return here but maybe a bit of training could be given to staff on how to deal with complaints and also the importance of providing what is offered on the menu - unfortunately I was unable to eat the bread because while sourdough is not gluten free, it’s generally tolerable for those of us who do suffer with stomach issues/gluten intolerance. Overall a pleasant experience, I’d definitely come back but I think issues like I’ve mentioned are important to note for those with allergies.

Disappointed. Had full English Breakfast here some 18 months ago and was great . It has gone downhill quite dramatically - had to ask for my poached eggs to be redone, found the sausage poorly cooked and tough, tomato nearly raw and potatoes not good. Also had to look at a dog drooling whilst eating perhaps it may be an idea to put dog customers in a different area - we are not all dog lovers.

Reading through the negative reviews I feel that this little gem of a restaurant is massively under rated. I find the staff warm and welcoming, I have always had delicious meals, the menu is varied and there are often tasty specials available. The staff are extremely accommodating and it’s very rare they can’t find a table for you. I would recommend booking however as they are usually extremely busy. Fantastic local place for brunch and lunch. 5 stars!

The staff are always pleasant and helpful. The food and drinks are excellent. The price is slightly above average but the quality of the food accounts for this. Plus they allow dogs

Absolutely fantastic is this place. We ordered 2 veg breakfasts and every item of food was top quality,and very tasty. we highly recommend this place. We have booked again for Sunday. Thank you to all the staff and the superb chef x

Been to Kin twice now and I can’t recommend enough. The first time I ordered the chocolate pancakes the second a vegetarian breakfast, both absolutely delicious! Another bonus it’s dog friendly

Fabulous food with great service.

Sadly I had a disappointing meal. There was a large party of us at lunch and we nearly all had to send food back! Soup was cold- beef uncooked. Think they were having a bad day.

What a lovely space to enjoy lunch with friends. We'll be back. The food was great ,and the service friendly and welcoming. Great menu with lots to choose from too.

Dog friendly cafe with a nice atmosphere. Shared but large car parking directly opposite and it's possible to park along the road as well. I got eggs Benedict and it was nice, bacon was crispy as I like it but the egg was solid with just a bit of shine. The waitress politely said that if I pointed it out earlier I would have gotten runny yolk. Sounds like it's better to ask for a runny yolk while you order as it is possible just doesn't seem a default? My partner went for Turkish eggs and they were nice but a tad too hot for her. Maybe ok for people with some chilli resistance.

Recommended for breakfast on a Sunday before a long trip south. Surprising location (near Emley Moor Tower). Warm welcome, friendly staff, great food, good tables with plenty of elbow room. We're quite decent eaters but thought the Kin breakfast (light version) with a mug of black coffee was best ahead of the drive. Just the job.

Great first visit to Kin. A nice selection of breakfast/brunch items to choose from, everyone in the group was happy with their selection. Various drinks for everyone's taste in luding local coffee from darkwoods. Staff were friendly and efficient, you're not rushed at all to leave. Just an all-round great experience. I will be back soon to try more.

Called in whilst my car was being serviced nearby, great place and the staff are fantastic. Great atmosphere and great food, will call in again.

A meal at Kin is exceptional every time. I’ve visited for breakfast, brunch and dinner and each experience has been lovely. The quality of the produce and attention to detail is impressive and the staff are lovely and very friendly too. Highly recommended!

Been a few times before and excellent went today for breakfast bacon was rock hard cherry tomatoes under cooked saute new potatoes were not sauted mushrooms were past thier sell by date do not mind paying the price for a good breakfast but will not return

Went for brunch today, for my husband's 50th. Myself, him, and our toddler, all really enjoyed the fabulous food and atmosphere... The luxury mocha was particularly lovely!! Was time to leave when the toddler started running around 😂

A really chilled and thoroughly enjoyable dining experience last night. Excellent quality food, well cooked and presented at a very reasonable price. A beautiful cocktail in a very simple, cosy and we'll thought out restaurant. Thanks to the team, we had a fab evening.

Went with a friend for lunch today & it was very busy, we hadn’t booked a table but staff were very accommodating & said we could have a table but would be a little wait. We wanted the pear & Brie but none left (fair enough it was 1.30 when we arrived) we had the chicken, bacon & avocado salad & were not disappointed! My friend said it was one of the nicest salads she had had! Really worth a visit if you like good food at a reasonable price in a nice environment.

Warning - book a table if you want to eat more than cake... We arrived at lunchtime without a booking to an almost empty restaurant to be told "it will be five minutes before we can tell you if we have a table free" then two minutes later "Oh, as a walk in you can only have coffee and cake, the owner is away" - needless to say we left. I understand staffing pressures but there were three staff visible - all doing nothing, and as I say the restaurant was almost empty. Hope the owner comes back soon before two many people are turned away.

Don’t go to this place I work on the road from here , first time I went I didn’t feel right , neither did my friend , we went on the 23rd got a breakfast, eggs was under done , loads of white under cooked egg, only noticed when it was comeing out my sandwich after eating one of them , I will be comeing in for my money back after the holidays ,

Awful service, waited over an hour for our order after waiting 40 minutes for our order to be taken for then the food to be underwhelming. Especially annoying considering numerous people came in after us, ordered, ate and left.

Called in the other day for a hot beef sandwich and chips. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly.

We were regular visitors to The Bionic Chef and dropped off for a while as a result of the Co(n)vid lockdowns. We always found it to be excellent. When we resumed our visits a few months ago we discovered that there had been a change of ownership and a change of name. The food and service are every bit as good as they were before and the new staff are delightful. We will now continue to be regular visitors at KIN!

As always the quality of the food is excellent. A friendly staff and it is so nice to see it becoming so popular. It is well deserved.

Just been today with my.partner, all l.can say is WOW AND VERY YUMMY 😋, I had the compote ,so deeeeeelicoius, very filling ,had to leave a little bit !!!!! David had the regular breakfast , I tried some of the sausage and bacon 🥓 😋, very tasty. The girls were lovely and so helpful, not like David to have 2 latter's. We will Deffo be back soon .
