The Riverside provides excellent food time and time again. The ingredients used in the dishes, both savoury and sweet, are of a high quality and new fail to please. The coffee, including the decaf, is equally as good too. Today we enjoyed a bacon and a vegan roll (even though I am not vegan it is so super tasty) followed a pistachio and courgette cake with passion fruit curd and Maltesers malteser tiffin, all fully recommended.

The food and service were unbelievable, such lovely and polite staff who gave our friend extra toast which was really nice of them. Quality of food was outstanding and such good value for money. I had a Prawn sandwich and it was so very nice with a salad which was lovely and colourful and flavoursome. My partner has dietary needs so she required a soya milk hot chocolate which she said was the nicest hot chocolate she had ever had. She also chose a cheese and chutney sandwich which required gluten free bread. Again she said the bread was the best quality gluten free bread she had ever had!! Can’t recommend this place highly enough!!

We visited on the bank holiday weekend and had 2 breakfasts one with tea one with coffee. It was freshly cooked and excellent quality. The service couldn't be faulted. Value was superb. What a gem of a place. We will be back!

We visited with our son and my husband’s elderly Grandmother for a late lunch on Sunday. We all found something we enjoyed on the menu (sausage ciabatta, Wensleydale cheese melt, sausage and mash, potato skins with cheese and sweet chilli sauce). The coffee was perfect (which we don’t often say- we’re quite hard to please 😂) and we shared a bag of delicious brownie bits on the way home. The scenery is just beautiful and on a sunny day it is just divine. We sat inside due to our elderly relative but it would have been even better outside. The cafe was busy so I would recommend booking if you can.

Spa was really good, calm and relaxing environment, just what my daughter & I needed. Julie T gave us the most amazing massages, would highly recommend her. Hotel was just as good, staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The room had breath taking views. Both the dinner and breakfasts were good. Will definitely be going back.

I would like to commend everyone at the Angel for making my 65th Birthday weekend, absolutely incredible. My family and I had a magnificent stay. The rooms were exquisite and the taster menu was totally and utterly sublime. It was my fourth Michael Wignall experience. Two at Gidleigh Park on Dartmoor and now two at the Angel. All have been just phenomenal. My thanks to Michael, Johanna and all of the team. Despite the five hour drive, we’ll be back!

Fantastic authentic Dales pub. We are regulars here, nothing better than a drink and a meal here after a long day hiking in the Dales. The pub is charming, food delicious, and staff are absolutely amazing. Every time we visit, we have such a good laugh with the staff. Definitely one of the best pubs around!

This is one of my favourite cafes. The staff are lovely and the place and it’s setting really special. So why only 3 stars? This was based on my visit today (30th December in the morning). Toft Farm cafe and shop has fabulous views and feels quite remote which gives it a unique selling point. Music was playing really loud and continued to do so until we had finished eating which took away from the atmosphere. I think that the likely customer base would not be appreciative of the type of music being played and also, specifically, when it was at such a high volume. Instead of being in a special place I was suddenly transported to some inner city bar. It could have been anywhere. It was blowing a gale outside but I saw the last glow of the fire as it hadn’t been tended. Again, a unique selling point had not been made anything of. I had to ask for glasses to be put out for the water. There wasn’t much water in the container and it tasted as if it had not been changed that morning. The sauce bottles were all nearly empty so it took a little while to get anything out of them. No doubt in the Summer months there will be passing traffic who may never revisit the cafe. I look upon myself as a regular customer and therefore look for consistency. The last sausage sandwich I had there was brilliant - thick sausage. This time there were some thin little sausages in it which were now dwarfed by the bread bun and no longer felt like value for money. This can be a great cafe but what is special about it was certainly not there today. All the above could have been remedied in 10 minutes by staff who had a purpose and knew what they were doing. I would then be giving 5 stars after enjoying this great cafe in its superb setting. I wouldn’t have bothered to make these comments except for the fact that I have enjoyed being here so many times and know how special it can be.
