I went with my friend for a meal last night to have a good catch up we hadn't booked seen the good reviews for this pub and thought let's give it a go. Wish we hadn't bothered. We ordered lasagne and salad. When the meal arrived the Lasagne was stone cold in the middle so we sent it back and when it returned it was exactly the same fresh salad put on the plate and the Lasagne was cold again. We were told the second time it was as hot as it should be so that is cold then. Who eats cold Lasagne not us. Myself and my friend said we didn't want another one. Nobody came out to speak to us. The lady behind the bar was lovely and you could see she cared but nobody else came and spoke to us. I wanted to leave and go somewhere else but we stayed and had Gammon can't do much wrong with that. We were given our last 2 drinks free and that was it. We will not be returning. So disappointed and no customer service skills at this pub that's for sure.
It was one of the tastiest dishes we had in a while. Both Yasir and Arusha were excellent at providing us with advice and they also gave my husband a wonderful treat for his birthday with the yummy brownie dessert. We will definitely come back. Thank you!
Possibly the best curry I’ve ever had! Certainly the warmest welcome, and carefully balanced so as not to feel overwhelmed by it. Just really lovely staff, awesome ambiance and stunning food!
I have no hesitation recommending this superb restaurant to anyone.
We happen to drop in on the way past, we ordered Sunday roast with cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. It was excellent value, piping hot and a fantastic atmosphere with open fires!
Coming from Hong Kong, and having spent many years living and working in London, I cannot say how wonderful it is to FINALLY find a "proper" Chinese restaurant! Authentic food, beautifully cooked, this is one of those restaurants you want to come to again and again. If you are thinking of taking a trip into Manchester or Birmingham to treat yourself to a Chinese meal to remember - forget it. Come to Newcastle-under-Lyme. Your meal will be better, and you'll have a much more pleasant journey. 100% recommended.
Newly decorated and carpeted, but with an assortment of old, and broken, furniture. Friday evening and the pub was almost empty, although there were a few people in the garden. Menu is uninspiring - fish and chips, ham egg and chips, fish fingers and chips, Mac and cheese and chips. . . . We ordered fish, chips and peas and ham eggs and chips. The chips were advertised as triple cooked - they weren’t, not even once - uncooked in the middle. Shrivelled peas which were luke warm with a strange mix of unadvertised mint and was it pea shoots? Fish was uninspiring. Ham, now here is the faux pas, was two slices of packet breaded ham which had not even been separated with a slice of griddled toast and a large pickled onion!!!!
If you are going to do food, please make an effort! And for the record, the salt cellar had no salt, I was given a napkin with only a knife wrapped in it and the two staff that dealt with us, had no idea what the internet password was.
Drive past!
