Beautiful interior design & friendly & attentive service but most importantly the food was delicious. I think this will soon become a popular place to eat in Harbrne.

Have been meaning to try this place since it opened... finally went in for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. Really good veg options, loved the paneer lababdar and portobella biryani and the monkey bar dessert was dangerously good!

Top rated because it's well deserved. A unique and slightly off the grid menu served with a friendly attitude.

Walked straight in without a booking on Friday. Immaculately clean, modern and upmarket restaurant. Very attentive, polite and professional service. With Cobra and a respectable wait, my lamb mirch with lemon rice arrived. Exceptional quality and tender cooked in hot spicy gravy with perfectly steamed rice. On completion, having scraped both the curry and rice bowls, I was left with a pleasant hot spice taste in my mouth. Got to be up there with the very best Indian restaurants in the UK. Definitely pop in again on my own, one lunch time without the meme-sab, for another deniable experience.

I enjoyed a relaxed and delicious lunch at Raja Monkey in Harborne. Both the Chicken Tikka starter and the Mutton Kali Mirch main were savoury and well-spiced, with a great depth of flavour. All of the ingredients tasted fresh and the sizes of the portions were well-judged. The Malai Kulfi had a subtle taste of saffron and was not overly sweet. Service from Yasir and Abhi was excellent. Both were very welcoming and attentive.

The food is usually good but went there on 14th Feb, the food was below average. Starters were good, but had bad experience with the mains. It took them 1 hour for the main course to be served, after following up.

Really delicious food and amazing service! A really upscaled Indian, we had a few starters to share and got to try some great new things! I then had the butter chicken which was done really well. Our server Abhi was really friendly and attentive, we had a great evening

Food was delicious with so much flavour, the ambiance in the restaurant was very relaxing; especially the music. Abhi welcomed us in & took us to our table with a lovely smile. Arusha was our waitress & took our orders, she went above & beyond; both worked well along side eachother to make us enjoy our experience in the restaurant. Great customer service I will definitely visit again soon.

Great decor, atmosphere & ambience Service and staff were also very attentive. Chicken Biryani was disappointing, very bland. Raja Prawns were excellent. Monkey Bar and Brownie were both delicious and ice cream was one of the nicest I’ve had. Coffee was awful. Portion size was a little small, maybe just enough. However, this should reflect in the price, I would say even for Harbourne it’s about 20% over priced. Had a nice evening, but I wouldn’t rush back.

The menu isn't extensive but that is all to the good as the food is beautifully cooked with a great balance of flavours and spices, excellent starters, beautifully cooked rice and lovely springy nan bread and all tasted really fresh. All in a nice atmosphere and nicely decorated space - different to your average curry restaurant. Customer service is excellent too. We've eaten her a couple of times now and will definitely be back.

Great food! We didn’t have that long to spare before we had to get to the station so asked if the service could be quick and it was very efficient. The food was all delicious and the staff were friendly. Really reasonable prices too. Highly recommended.

The food was very nice and flavourful We ordered samosa chat, paneer labadar, butter chicken, mushroom rice, tandoori roti, butternaan and a gin cocktail and a pint of beer. Our meal costs 60 pound The food was excellent and the service was impeccable

Our first visit to Raja Monkey and we really enjoyed it, our experience enhanced by our two waitresses Arusha and Tamsin who were mega helpful and made welcome suggestions. The Poppadums and starters were great and generous portions were appreciated. We shared Portobello biryani and roasted cauliflower for mains which were interesting for their depth of flavour and complemented each other well. We had no room for desserts but enjoyed our wine and lager, chosen from a varied list. Admittedly this was one of the coldest evenings of the year and we were first in but we were cold with the door continually opening for deliveroo drivers hence the 4 rather than 5* review. We will definitely come again.

Not good value. Falsely claimed dishes are well priced but this is probably the most expensive cafe on the high street. Won't go again. Nice but not worth the over pricing.

We came for my wife's birthday. The ambiance, food and service were all very good. The food was delicious, plentiful and different from other Indian restaurants. I had goat biryani and my wife had chicken in a delicious spinach sauce. We had a garlic and coriander naan and a "monkey" side salad. Kulfi for dessert . All delicious ! We'll definitely be back.

This restaurant serves lovely fresh quality food. Three of us attended on a Tuesday night as a farewell dinner for our daughter who is vegetarian. We all had a fabulous meal and would definitely recommend. staff friendly and attentive

First experience here and we were very impressed with the quality of the food, service and ambience. We chose to go for the Rajamonkey mixed grill platter plus squid pakoras as starters and lamb masala plus garlic naan & raita for mains. The starters were superb both in presentation and flavour… as a meat lover everything was spot on and I was particularly impressed with the portobello mushrooms! The main course lamb dish tasted relatively bland but the staff were more than happy to change this to the Rogan Josh which was significantly better in flavour. Service was excellent throughout and topped off when the manager adjusted the bill for the slight inconvenience of waiting for the replacement dish. Having dined at most of the indian restaurants in the area, this is certainly the best now. I hope they keep up the great work. We shall be returning 😎

Fantastic service by Yasir. Excellent food and all of us enjoyed our meal immensely. All of the staff, especially Yasir, was so warm and friendly and made our anniversary meal for our family very memorable. Would definitely recommend the restaurant.

Went to Raja monkey for my nieces 16th birthday. She wanted to go somewhere a bit fancier and it didn’t disappoint. It’s well decorated and lit. Food was delicious mostly. Was a bit disappointed with the mixed grill, it wasn’t grill at all and was very limiting with more salad and vegetable than meat. The staff was very accommodating and even gave us a free brownie with a candle for the birthday girl! We didn’t realise it was closing time but they let us stay over so she could open her presents. I wish they had a cheaper naan available as at £3 per naan it added up real fast. Our bill come to 190 (9 persons) for 4 curries, 1 mixed grill, 1 chaat samosa, about 8-9 naans and soft drinks

Great meal here last night.. great taste and delicate flavours.. as part of the Lasan group you will always get the best service and food.. I went for the beef madras which was lovely and spicy with some great flavour and extra chilli! Paneer starter was a good shout and so was the kebab starter.. rice was one of the best I’ve had and overall was a brilliant place to eat.. good price too.. will be back again soon!

I had a really good experience here. I loved the low lighting especially. It was also very clean, well decorated and the staff were welcoming and attentive. I thoroughly enjoyed my biriyani and chips. The flavours were good and didn’t overpower each other. My friend ordered the butter chicken with a cheese naan which wasn’t exactly to her liking but she loved the drinks. I cannot wait to visit again!

Indulged in a culinary symphony at Raja Monkey.The chicken biryani was a flavorful and the chicken was so tender, complemented perfectly by the rich and creamy paneer butter masala. The naan was impeccably soft, and the mango juice added a refreshing touch. The ambiance elevated the entire experience, creating a perfect blend of taste and atmosphere. Great indian food I had till now in harborne 😋.

I’d love to give Raja Monkey a five star review but ….. we were a party of 6 one of whom was vegan. There were no starter options, a choice of 3 mains, and no desserts available for our vegan friend. Couldn’t even have a coffee because they had no nondairy milk. The food we did eat was delicious but in this day and age we should have a menu that offers options for all their diners.

We had a lovely meal at Raja Monkey - only two downsides which probably mean that my partner and I won't rush back. There were not many items which were dairy free and gluten free - a tad surprising for an Indian restaurant in my experience. And secondly the portions were not generous - we had two main courses and a side between us and ended up ordering a supplementary item. I was find but my partner said he would have liked a bit more!

Beautiful restaurant with an amazing atmosphere. Food was very tasty , mouth watering starters and mains. We were served by Abhi , who really looked after us and his service was great. I visited Raja Monkey as well as some other Indian restaurants last weekend. This was by far the best. The butter chicken was flavourful and the chicken was moist. The butter naan didn't dry out like others, and the monkey bar dessert was a sweet ending to a fantastic meal. The welcoming staff and lovely decor added to the overall enjoyment. Highly recommend!
