Indus Tandoori in Birmingham

Having driven past this restaurant for years we decided to give it a go, and we were not disappointed. The food was very nice and great choice of menu although with only option to purchase drinks it was a little pricey. The dishes were all good and the starters were the 'gem' with everyone enjoying a delicious starter. We will definitely return to this restaurant for special occasions but not for a 'cheap curry' with friends. The food is worth that little bit extra on the bill but not on a regular basis.

We have been using Indus for over 10 yrs tonight I was informed it was under new ownership so I gave my usual order. The food was awful and inedible the vegetable curry did not have one fresh vegetable. I contacted the restaurant to provide my feedback the excuse given was change of menu how does that effect the basic ingredients of a vegetable curry will never use the place again so disappointed

Have been visiting here for years. Will be visiting no more. Food too spicy to eat,after asking for mild. Waited 45 mins for a menu, then had to ask for one. Very sad. Did take meal off bill- very fair.

The service is always friendly and the food is absolutely perfect. Without doubt the best Indian in Sutton/ Birmingham. A must visit.

Visited this restaurant with my wife recently instead of going to another local restaurant. We received an excellent friendly welcome when arriving and the r estaurant is a very nicely decorated place to eat. The service we received was just as excellent as the food, we both had different dishes from a very good menu with good choice which also has some chef specials. My wife and I both like different levels of spice in our Indian food and the dishes we had where cooked to perfection. My wife had the Pathia and I chose. A Dehsi Korai which is a hotter dish and both where absolutely fantastic. Prices where very competitive and although the place is licenced we still only paid what we normally would have in our other restaurant when we take our own drink. We will definitely be returning and have recommended this place to some of our friends to try. It looks like our other favourite restaurant nearby has serious competition and we can’t wait to come back to the Indus so a big well done to the chef and all the staff. If you are in the area it is well worth giving this place a try.

Went here tonight after a while. used to be good but sadly tonight one of the worst meals I had. we did not finish the meal. Seems to have changed management. won't be going again

One of the better curry houses. Good man bread, crisp Papadums and a decent Madras. Simple but decent

Was told 60 minutes for the delivery and it arrived after 80. The tandoori prawns and lamb chops starters were very salty. Chicken bhuna on their menu was described as semi dry it came swimming in a very bland sauce - the same colour and taste as the vegetable bhaji side dish. All out of the same pot. Just lazy and careless cookery.

Wow! The food is absolutely delicious, by far the best in the area. In fact I'm addicted now and will be returning every week...and I'm very fussy! The service is superb, even when they're busy they're very quick to respond to you. They all work so hard, are extremely polite, smartly dressed, nothing is too much trouble for them. Seriously cannot fault it in anyway...superb food,superb service and at a good price. You'd be mad not to try this place!

Visited this restaurant on Friday evening after having a few beautiful takeaways from here in the past, WOW WOW WOW !! would sum it up perfectly. staff, food, enviroment and all round hospitallity was on point ! will not be ordering or visiting from any other restaurant anytime soon ! #WOW

Cannot fault any meals we have had when eating in but a take away tonight was disappointing, the sauce was watery and the oinions not cooked, Won't have another takeaway from there

Excellent friendly staff from moment we entered till we left. Been here a few time's now and must say the standard never drops . Fantastic range of currys for everyone's choice good beer and reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit you won't be disappointed.

Second visit to this restaurant after trying their takeaway menu. The food is the best around this area and very tasty as well as reasonably priced. The restaurant doesn't look much from the outside but is done out nicely with a good atmosphere and service. Will be back to try more from the menu.

Brought my Mother in law for her birthday meal ,to wake up and shake up her taste buds . The food was very tasty indeed. Always well presented and cooked to perfection.Draught Cobra great quality as is their house wine. Very courteous and friendly ,professional team. Once again another fantastic family meal here, we visited for our daughters birthday and what a great time we all had, food was beautiful and service is first class, never feel rushed, good intervals between courses. The staff had decorated the table for us and even gave my daughter a present, couldn't ask for more and best if all it's only 5 mins away from home x

The menu has an original selection of food and the mongoose beer is on tap. The sag bahji here is amazing and the fish curry's are also top notch.

Food was nice although the lamb was pretty tough. Could have been an off day as I've heard good reports from others.

Nos cayó en la indus de ella" (13/05/2017) tras una larga ausencia. Estaban muy ocupados, pero nos llevaron a nuestra mesa después de una corta espera. Pedí un plato de gambas Tandoori seguido por el Modhu menta cordero para principal. Aunque pequeño el primer plato era delicioso y el principal era absolutamente magnífico. Cordero era tierna, suculento y de un generoso tamaño de la porción. Mi hijo había Carne Samosa para empezar y la arcilla para Pollo Pot principal. Dijo que ambos estaban deliciosos y que el plato principal era muy abundante. El servicio fue rápido, extremadamente cortés y la factura de buena relación calidad-precio. Sin duda recomendaría el Indus a amigos y tenemos la intención de volver con mi esposa en el futuro.

Good service the waiter was very accommodating. I recommend the chicken tikka madras. Good wine selection Good vfm.

The restaurant was standard, drinks standard.shock that bottled water costs more than non alcoholic drinks...Variety of dishes, spoilt for choice. Variety of grades of spiciness. Some dishes were undercooked.Lamb dishes are very nice l, soft and tender meat. Vegetarian dishes are tasty.the prawns were not very nice and were the priciest dish.Overall atmosphere was good, staff were good, tome of order to table arrival could have neen better as it took a while.I would eat there again if i was in the area.

Being driven mad by traffic jams I went in search of a curry and discovered the Indus.The staff were pleasant and welcoming and had me seated straight away.The Tandoori King Prawn Massalla, Special Rice and Nan were delicious and the price reasonable.Just perfect to enjoy the good food and let the traffic die down.

I Live close by and I have passed this place so many times, what a fool I have been, went on Sunday evening and what a delight it was. The staff are fantastic and very knowledgeable about there menu and helped me pick something different to what I normally have, wow the lamb was so soft and the spices made it perfect, I will be making this a regular place for eating out, the whole experience was great 10 out of 10 top class

Induz , Kings Road, New Oscott, Sutton Coldfield.A visit on a very busy and noisy Monday night with several voluble parties in.We booked the top table area for four and chose the £9.95 five course meal offer which is available Monday to Thursdays.You have poppadoms and relish to commence, followed by a range of starters & salad, followed by your choice of any main meal from the a la carte, with either rice or nan, followed by coffee. The mains we enjoyed included the Claypot Chicken which was delicious, the Rogan Josh which was very good, the Jalfrezi which was great and the Murgh Amdani which was also excellent.So the food was great, the atmosphere on that occasion too noisy, and two other comments made were that there were no tissues the ladies toilets, which should be checked, and the radiator in the gent’s toilet needs painting as it does not create a good impression.The meal for the four of us with two pints of lager and a glass of rose wine came to £52.70 which is excellent value.I also noticed from the menu that the Induz offers 10% discount on collection of orders over £10.00, a free bottle of wine on orders over £30.00 take away, and a free home delivery within 3 miles if over £10.00, so again good valueBest Regards. 1st class service, delicious meals, extensive menu choice. Good parking excellent value for money. Have visited on numerous times and will continue to do so, would definitely recommend.

Reviewed the indus Jan went after cup final with family from Stoke think everyone else did restaurant rammed manage to get last table of 4 Good sighn if full problem being wait on food over an hour for main meal to come one customer just paid for there starter and left now to food wife daughter in law veggies so the quorn rogan fantastic chk garlic chilli also good now to my sons duck tawa he eats this a lot said one of the best he's ever tasted so indus food wise can't fault staff ok time on meals need to be improved top notch indian

We had a portion of pilau rice and a portions of boiled rice, chicken and mushroom naaga and a chicken sag dish. Both extremely delicious. Sadly like all Indian restaurants the poppadoms are over priced so we did not have any as we feel they are a rip off. It would be nice if the waiters spoke in English rather than speaking to each other in their mother tongue!

Great food, really tasty & they have put their own twist to the menu. Keep going back so must be doing something right. Park round the back off Elizabeth road to avoid a ticket from Lidl.

We booked a table for a birthday and unbeknown they decorated the table and walls around it with banners and balloons, along with sprinkles on the table. The food was superb and they will change any dish to suit your personal requirements. Excellent service and great choice of beers and wines.

A FANTASTIC restaurant with beautiful food very welcoming, we keep returning here because we cant fault anythink We've had many enjoyable evening here great atmosphere. My son Kelton who is now twelve started going here when 5 and loves there food too and the manager always comes and has a chat with him which make him feel very welcome. The portion are a good size you don,t go away feeling hungry. well worth a visit and ill bet you will return again .

Went to the indus 6/1/16 after friends used the restaurant on and off since it opened in 1985 thought the head waiter raul was fantastic very helpful as wife is vegetarian and was recommending all sorts of veggie delights garlic chilli chicken a must up the with the best head chef was at golden moments Walsall top place there loss indus gain will I return and use more the is yes very very good

Once again a really tasty ,quality meal served by lovely ,friendly & professional staff.Having had my Mum's Birthday meal here (my first visit) ,I wanted to introduce one of my curry loving friends to this this great little restaurant .Who also really enjoyed it. I definitely plan to eat here more in 2016.The other thing I'd also like to mention is the very reasonably priced drinks menu .A very decent bottle of french rose wine at £9.50.And a very good draught Cobra at £2.95 a pt .So many restaurants in my opinion, charge far too much for their drinks ,so the above was a nice surprise. I just wanted to say another BIG ,"THANK YOU ",to the lovely & hard working guys at this fab restaurant.Although i did mention when booking , that it was my Mother's Birthday , I didn't expect the table to be decorated so beautifully including a card & a bunch of roses too !. There was also balloons & a Happy Birthday message on the mirror . Most importantly though is the delicious, high quality &extremely well presented food .Service is impeccable ,fun and friendly .The decor inside the restaurant is really stylish and the bathroom is one of the cleanest most hygienic I've used in a while.(including my own ,ha ha !). Just an all round perfect dining experience. See you again soon.

Fantastic menu and always cooked to perfection. We have never had a poor meal and comes with my recommendation

Food is great but if you want delivery for a take away then order at least an hour before you want it. Pretty sure if you collected it it might be quicker although we were ordering for 6 people and the waiter said it would take at least an hour 'because of the size of the order'. Not really good enough and will make me think twice before ordering from here again.

Visited on a Friday evening - 1st visit here - mid wise restaurant and probably best to book a table - seems quite popular. The food is really well done and nicely presented, if anything the Tikka Masala I had could have fed 2 people but here's the slight problem ... You pay for everything - popadoms / mint sauce / all sides included rice and breads etc - it is very well done but the service isn't quite up to the price you pay - if paying for everything and drinks from the bar I expect the little attention to detail to be right ... 2 water glasses not 1 , salt on table , wine poured into wine glass up to 1/3 rd and not to the brim !... I do find it hard to understand why, on a table of 2 the servers cannot work out which food the lady has.All in all, great food, drinks selection good, service needs slight improvement and a good night.

Visit every month or so always good food and good service more than just a normal curry restaurant the staff always eager to please am lucky this restaurant is local to me

Myself and my family regularly attend Indus now after excellent meal after excellent meal from this fantastic curry house. Brilliant 5 course menu on a Thursday and great regular menu also. Curry classics are brilliant and all present but the specials are where this curry house stands out. Whether it's the 'tawa' dishes or the Indus fusion dishes, all are great. Staff are really helpful and attentive and the atmosphere is very family friendly. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Decided to go here on impulse my fiancée had a lamb dish i had hot garlic chicken. Can't fault the food and must compliment the service. Absolutely brilliant friendly and courteous. Will definitely return. Thanks for a great night out.

Visited the Indus after a recommendation.Special meal for less than £10.00.Set assorted starter was delicious.Choice of any main.My Butter Chicken was lovely, and my partner had a Prawn main which was huge and tasty.Car parking at the rear.An oasis to be revisited!

This is one of my favourite restaurants with my local area. The quality of the the food never disappoints and the staff are amazing. They can not do enough for you.Have eaten in quite a few times, and he service is great, the food is always hot and freshly made for you. All the curries are creamy and full of flavour. Sides are just as good.Have recently started having takeaway from there too, and have not had any trouble with this either. The food is always still got when it arrives at the door, and on occasion they will throw in a freebie, which of course is always welcome.I would highly recommend dining with Indus. Book in advance though, as it is popular and busy.

Lovely good quality food, this is my favourite local Asian restaurant for good tasty food, especially creamy sweet curries. Also excellent fusion dishes. Been eating in and takeaways for 24 years I think!

I have only been to this restaurant omce, the food and service was lovely. The restautant has a warm feel to it, we will definately go back.

Have used this restuarant but heating in and take away almost weekly over the last year and have never had anything but excellent service and fabulous food.The staff couldn't be more helpful and always offer a free drink if you are collecting.In house the service is impeccable,and delivery is always prompt and piping hot.Great food,great service,what else do you need?

This is one of the very best restaurants in the area, my wife and I enjoy the wonderful food and friendly service on a regular basis. Take away is very good too. I would particularly recommend the Chef's special Karahi

Haven't eaten at Indus for a while not sure why because it was great last time. Ordered a take away last week the food again was fantastic and there was plenty of it. The meal was full of flavour the naan was just right the rice was perfect. Only down side on popadoms which are usually complementary! Will definitely be trying this again.

We popped in last week to be greeted by the most friendly and welcoming staff. From start to finish we had a great time. We eat out regularly and this is in our top three... fab food, great staff and excellent value for money. That good we are going back again tonight..........

been going here since it opened, can't really fault the service which is very good an professional. but on my last visit i ve seen a slight decline in the food standards, the nan bread is not as good as it used to be, if anything not as good as a poor restaurant, the beer they served was warm. maybe it was a off night but there were only two other tables occupied, the lamb curry was just boiled lamb pieces cooked in a sauce, the lamb was over-cooked

We've been here a few times and the food has been consistently good. I was impressed that they were able to provide chana puri despite it not being on the menu. The food was well presented, hot and a good sized portions. Great service with just the right amount of time between courses. I particularly liked the way they kept refilling my coffee. Great value for money. I would advise booking as it is always quite busy unlike the restaurant a few doors up which was empty.

I called to place an order for delivery, however when I asked if they provide anything vegan, they didn't even know what the term was! All their veg curries were made with ghee. I was still about to place an order as they said they can replace the ghee with oil but then when I enquired how they make their naan bread, they informed me that they make it with eggs!!!! When I asked why, the gentleman explained they can't make the bread with out eggs. This restaurant should not claim to be indian. Indians are the most innovative cooks on the planet. Naan is traditionally made without eggs. I am very disappointed that this place refer to themselves as indian. Nakodar in soho rd is much better for vegans and vegetarians.

Indus has been around for years and I've been visiting or even ordering a takeaway for many years. The service is always top class and the food is always exquisite. My only complaint is that this restaurant hasn't expanded over the years - but then I imagine it wouldn't have that nice personable feel to it.Frankly, I'm stunned that this restaurant is only ranked no.35 of restaurants in Sutton Coldfield - this is one of the stalwarts of local restaurant cuisine round here.There's plenty of parking round the back if required.

Took some friends for an early evening meal before going on to Sutton Coldfield Jazz Club on the Wednesday evening.Two Claypot chickens with pilau rice, one Chicken Tikka with salad, and one Relish Chicken dish.Lovely flavours and the Relish more spicier in masala sauce and everyone enjoyed their meals.Reasonable prices for food and drinks.Great desert with the Fantastico.They also from Monday to Thursday provide five course meal for £9.95. The only slight problem with this is that the restaurant was therefore busy and only two staff were on when we visited at 6.30pm, so service was slower. This picked up when a third member of staff arrived. Overall a great visit again. Would recommend. Regards Gary Saunders

Had a take away from here they forgot to put in half the order and food came cold didn't seem to botherd when we called back won't be using again

We have visited this Resturant on several occasions & have never been disappointed. We recently took friends who had never been before and they were very impressed. One friend had sea bass & said it was cooked perfectly. The waiters are all friendly and go out of there way to ensure their customers are happy and satisfied. Doesn't break the bank either well worth every penny. Thanks guys... will be back soon

Weve been to quite a few of the Indians in Sutton Coldfield and we feel that this is the best. Beats anything in Boldmere and Wylde Green. If this is the best than Jubo Raj is the worst. Always had good meals here with plenty of choice. Friendly attentive staff and ample car parking at rear. Well worth a visit. You will not be disappointed.

I have been going here since I was a teenager and over the years this restaurant has never let me down. The menu has the standard dishes i.e. madras, jalfrezi etc but also an 'East meets West' fusion section with some of the most delicious and beautifully presented dishes you'll see. Booking essential at weekends.

Best curry around. Always good service and some excellent and slightly unique chefs special dishes.Some of the Asian fusion dishes are worth a try. Waiting staff are always attentive. Car park around the back is useful too.

My family and I eat here quite often. The food is a bit over priced but for the service and portion size that you get you dont mind paying that bit extra. Dont have to wait long for food or drinks. Waiters are friendly, only downfall is that its hard to find parking sometimes on the weekend.

We went there to celebrate a birthday, it was closed to public due to the party time being 1-5pm on Sunday.The food was surprisingly lovely, the menu was set by the family who organised the function. The staff were welcoming and friendly, they went beyond to make us comfortable. My husband has decided to book this place for our next event. One of the best restaurants we've been to in a long time. Highly recommend all trip advisors to defo go.

I was driving around looking for a curry house and stopped here, as it was quite busy, even on a Monday....Without doubt, one of the nicest curries I have had in a while. A salmon starter, followed by a duck curry, all of which was delicious. I'll be back again very soon. Please go, you won't be disappointed.

Visited on Friday 12.4 with two friends who are now converts to this super restaurant with an Indian chef.The menu is extensive and the flavours perfect. The service is excellent as well.Overall top notch and a lovely dining experience.Regards Gary Saunders

This is the BEST resturant i have been and we visit regular. The service and food is wonderful and there is never a dull moment :)

We use Induz to order take aways frequently and have never been dissapointed. The food is always fresh and tasty.Living in Wylde Green we are spoilt for choice for Indian restaurants but prefer to order a little further to guarentee tasty goodness. King Prawn Poori (starter) and Claypot Chicken two of my my favourite dishes.As of yet we are yet to eat in but look forward to it. I cannot reccomend Induz enough. Even the delivery man is lovely.

This time visiting my friend and I did the £9.95 meal which is currently on from Sunday to Thursday. The meal had am amazing taste and I could tell it was freshly prepared. The staff are excellent and very helpful.Over the past twelve months I suffered for everyone by trying every Indian restaurant in the area (it was a hard thing to do, well actually I enjoyed it) but after trying all the other Indian restaurants in the area this is now 100% my local and preferred choice :)Also note Indus has its own carpark at the back of the restaurant which I only recently discovered! They is also loads of places to park in the road near the restaurant car park.

My wife and I have now visited Induz a number of times and the choice and variety of meals and the flavours are superb.Service and decor are excellent. I had the chicken muncharian follwed by a gorgeous Claypot Chicken, and my wife had the salmon tika followed by seabass aloo palak, both wonderful tastes and flavours. Regards Gary Suanders

I eat a lot of curry and since moving to the area I have been touring around all the Indian restaurants in the area. I have found that most in the area are good. I have gone to go to Indus in the past but have always gone somewhere else instead as the outside and location has always put me off. Anyway on Saturday a friend and I decided that we had tried all the others so we should do Indus. What we found is.. Boy have we been missing out! The restaurant is nicely done out inside and it was very busy. We hadn't booked but only had to wait a few minutes before a table was relaid and we were seated. The food quality here was amazing, the starter is quite possible the best Indian starter I have ever tasted! I will be going here again and if the quality remains the same I think Indus will be turning into my local!

We have visited the restaurant quite a few times. The choices for vegetarians are varied and tasty - not just paneer, but quorn and other dishes. Meat eaters always say their food is really good. At the moment, there is a 5 course special at £9.95 from Sun - Thurs. The place was packed today so it is clearly appealing to lots of people. Choose any main dish from the menu ! Must be good. The service is very pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. Will keep visiting when we are in the area.

Food and service excellent. Restaurant has an extensive menu, i was not keen on going to Indian restaurants until i found the Indus. A range of Fish dishes including Salmon & Crab, which you don't get at lots of restaurants. Also i love the Fusion dishes you can get noodles as part of some dishes. The choices they offer make it a restaurant that you have to visit

Good quality food,still busy even with a lot of byo competition.I have tried nearly every indian in the sutton area and the indus is as good if not betterthan all of them.
