Enjoyable meal, excellent food. Relaxed surroundings and pleasantly quiet. Good access for my disabled father, which took away the strain of dinning out.

We stayed at a local air b&b and The Bell Inn is the local pub recommended on the accommodation reviews. It was my fiancé's birthday and the pub was lovely and cosy with a nice vibe for a Thursday evening! In particular the reason I’m writing this review is because of how attentive and lovely our waitress was, Lily. She was super helpful and even recommended places locally for nice walks and made our dining service a lovely experience! The food was also delicious and fresh, the bill was very reasonable! I would recommend and visit again if in the area. Thank you.

The experience was not that good really which was a shame for Mother’s Day. There was only a choice of 3 starters and one of those was the predictable tomato soup, albeit it was homemade, mackeral pate which was very small in fact just a table spoon with bread and no butter, then there was ham croquet which was very nice. The main roast meats were very good but not all the meats were available. The vegetables were fresh and hot with a good selection. The main issue was how rushed we were and kept being watched by staff to see how quickly they could get rid of us, they wanted us in and out and achieved that, so within 1 hr of arriving we had eaten 2 courses, paid the bill and back in the car. I don’t really understand why as there were other people still dining although another table were even quicker than us. Basically the staff wanted to go home and we felt very much in the way.

When deciding where to organise a special family lunch we thought of the Bell Inn where we had been just a few times before. From the moment we met the helpful young man serving in the bar on an quiet Monday lunch time when we went to check availability through to the end of the meal for a family group of nineteen I was very impressed by the care and attention we received. The way in which the meal was served was particularly impressive. All our guests were very happy with their menu choices and the whole experience was most enjoyable. A very much appreciated gesture was the special way the guest of honour’s dessert was served. We shall certainly be going back to this excellent and friendly pub restaurant.

We have visited this lovely restaurant many times, mainly for Sunday lunch, which is quite exceptional, but also we had their special menu on Boxing Day. The food is of quite exceptional quality and although it is a traditional Sunday lunch with the choice of three or four main meats, the quality of the cooking and presentation stands out head and shoulders above other places we have had Sunday lunch. The other huge plus for this restaurant are the youngsters who provide the service. Pleasant, cheerful, helpful and totally professional. They are a joy! Although we have never eaten here on weekdays, the specials board looks very appealing.

Visited the restaurant for wife’s birthday, being celiac I have difficulty finding places which you can totally trust. Although most restaurants say we can accommodate gluten free they don’t really understand the issues attached to celiac. The Bell as I found it, is a really good option for anyone in my position with a good understanding of the requirements. Normally a Sunday roast is not something I would trust due to cross contamination when serving lots of plates of similar makeup. No problem here with their food presentation and offering of Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese and gravy all gluten free. It was interesting to see other diners there who were also celiac that had been visiting for sometime. I highly recommend would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone not just celiac’s, great to have fresh properly prepared food.

Good food, probably best pub food in and around Burton (we go out a lot in this area). Attentive staff, perhaps too many people checking on you. However, the mint yogurt and sea bass was an unusual combination and for me, the mint flavour overpowered. Crème brûlée served in a smaller than usual ramekins. Cost wise, each dish is approx £2 more than the most expensive place we go to plus there is an extra for basic vegetables. Hence good but probably wouldn’t go back.

In these trying times, it was wonderful to have a really lovely Sunday lunch at the Bell, which we'd been trying to get to for some time (we don't live in Burton). The starters were fabulous, particularly the smoked salmon and egg on toast. The mains were just as good, and the Yorkshire puddings were probably the best I've ever eaten out. We were too full for desserts unfortunately...... The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, and the service excellent, attentive but not intrusive. We really appreciated the little touches such as being offered pork scratchings as an extra - my son, relatively new to the joys of Midlands cuisine loved them! While we often think of going out for a Sunday roast, when we do, its usually a bit of a disappointment. That was definitely not the case here, and to top it all, the bill was very reasonable. Go on and treat yourselves!

We were regulars at this restaurant before the pandemic. Returned in September to find young house staff very casual about Covid rules. Several guests walked in without masks! Three of us ordered the Cod & Prawns which in the past was impressive in quality and quantity. However, this time each of us received very small portions: - in fact we suspect a single portion had been divided into three. Even so the centre of fish was tastelss and just broiled. Equally, the potates and vegetable were served in very small side dishes -to be shared at the table! This was an appalling failure by the restaurant during the pandemic. On enquiry, it appears the owners (Vicky & Mark) were off site at their newly acquired restaurant 10 miles away. Clearly, serving small main course portions has been financially very rewarding for this couple. Not good value for money.. I suggest, in a group, order different dishes to avoid a single portion being divided between you!

Both steaks cooked to perfection but maybe just personal taste - accompanying sauces quite tasteless and watery. Home made fishcakes for starters quite dry but have no doubt they are homemade - the place seems quite hardworking and honest. We have been once before maybe a year ago when new owners took over and that was great so not as good as that time. Staff pleasant enough but did feel lacking in some sort of management. Personally wouldnt rush back as it's a bit out of our way but if we were more local we would certainly try it again - seemed to have plenty of locals enjoying themselves and the garden is a lovely spot.

We visited the Bell as a belated birthday meal. When booking my friend had specified that we would be looking to have both pizzas outside and also from the à la carte menu. It was particularly busy when we arrived however we felt safe to keep a safe distance because of the available space. We were seated at the patio area near the restaurant and looked through the menu and also the outdoor pizza place to decide. When we attempted to order we were told that we couldn't order from the pizza area. It was finally agreed that we could order from both after having a word with a lady that appeared to be in charge. After she turned her back, huffed at my friend she then acknowledged that we could place our order. We also had sarcastic comments when passing our table that we had ordered "more than a few pizzas" We waited patiently for drinks as the waiting on staff were so busy but I must say the waitress that looked after us was excellent, staying calm despite her manager being quite unprofessional. The food and establishment were absolutely lovely. It was our 1st meal out as a group after the lockdown. Just decide where to seat people and look after the people that are coming to visit you. We would have sat anywhere!Praise to the kitchen staff too the food itself was excellent.

Its great for kids too with a play area and plenty of room for kicking a footy about! They have even set a large TV up outside to watch the footy! There is a sign saying take a seat and we will do the rest...Even though there were a number of empty tables it did not seem that this business wanted the trade post lockdown. My partner and I sat for 10 minutes but was not acknowledged, even after speaking to the chef who said he will send someone over and hearing him tell 2 members of staff and pointing to us, not one person came over. They continued to stand by the bar/pizza van chatting and walk to other tables avoiding us. We decided to take our custom elsewhere to somewhere that would appreciate it. Waiting 15 minutes for acknowledgement when it wasn’t busy not was acceptable.Very disappointed and wasted journey.

Went for dinner with my family and had such a lovely time. Food was delicious, my toddler enjoyed her kids meal and we definitely enjoyed ours. Vicki the landlady was lovely, checking on us to make sure everything was ok, the price is reflected in the quality of the food, portions are filling and waiting times are sensible considering everything is made fresh to order. The restaurant has a cosy atmosphere, it’s clean, well kept and elegant; pub was filled with happy customers as it should be and the staff is kind and friendly. The Bell Inn is a little gem and Marc & Vicki are doing a fabulous job. Kudos to them and definitely worth a try!

Really nice place, food really nice and well prepared. Fantastic service for a big table, only slight let down was a small piece of plastic in my food, off the wrapper for the Parma ham not biggie, although I was questioned like I had planted it. Other than that fantastic place

What a nice surprise, a vast improvement since my last visit. Great beer, well kept and nice lager. I had the whitebait, lovely coating and presentation. Then came a most delicious steak and ale pie, loved the pastry, and the meat inside, tasty mash to accompany it. The came most amazing cheesecake, I liked the whipped consistancy rather than the more familiar firm set finish. A great lunch...looking forward to an evening meal...especially as the menu has Moule Provençal.

Luckily for us the Bell Inn has just started opening for food on Mondays. It was the bright spot at the end of an otherwise grey February Monday. The service was welcoming and efficient. We had Wild mushrooms in creamy garlic sauce a homemade pate followed by a sea bass special and beef stroganoff. All beautifully served and very tasty. We drank well kept 61 deep and pinot grigio blush and finished off with lush lemon meringue pie and knicker bocker glory with homemade ice cream.

We had a family meal just before Christmas on a Sunday. Very good value for money at £20pp for 3 courses with a good choice of dishes within the menu.We all had some sort of roast for our mains and a nice touch was the fact that more roast potatoes and gravy were offered without being asked. Food was great as was the service.Very impressed and we will definitely go back.

Now Greg and John might say that the fish skin wasn't quite crispy enough and the fish cakes needed a little more spice and seasoning but that would just be being picky. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit last night.

Decided to go here for Sunday Lunch from looking on Trip Advisor, it did not disappoint. The food was beautiful. I opted for the trio of meats chicken beef and pork which came with a Yorkshire pudding and crackling. The food was cooked to perfection. Service was excellent and a lovely cosy atmosphere. As a visitor to the area it did not disappoint. They have Aspal cider in tap as well which is always a winner! If your near by it's worth a visit.

Keep seeing The Crown online and the food looks lovely. Finally we visited on an impromptu date night mid week. We opted out of a starter but I have the Beef and Ale pie which was fabulous! loads of greens, tasty pie and gravy, smooth mash and it tasted wonderful. My Husband had the Mushroom Pasta and also wasn't disappointed.# Unfortunately we were too full for desert but happy to say my meal came with a free glass of wine!! WIN WIN ! Great food, lovely atmosphere and excellent service! Look forward to visiting again soon.

Decided to stop off at this little pub for a spot of lunch in the 'snug/bar area' before our planned spa retreat. What a treat!! Absolutely gorgeous place that oozes charm with such a warm and friendly atmosphere and welcome. Meals were so delicious and the cocktails were amazing too. If you are in the area or fancy a drive to a beautiful location with plenty of stunning walking spots then give this place a try. You definitely won't be dissapointed 😊

Visited here after a while. I was shocked. The owner was a lady who I had paid for dog walking whilst lockdown was happening, even worse she had been claiming furlough and leaving her cafe closed and getting paid for dog walking. I don't think this is very ethical. Thankfully I wasn't reconised however service was slow and the menu full of very unhealthy things and the tables far too close together for COVID. Will not return.
