The baddest smash burger in brum town

It's good, but the reason I only gave 3 stars for the food and atmosphere is that #1 the food was nice, but the fries were cold, and the burger bun was a bit soggy and squahed. If they'd toasted the bun, it would have made a big difference. #2 The evening I visited was cold, and I had to wait ages to be served (it's a food trailer, so I was waiting outside and I was freezing) I then had to wait 15 minutes for the food to be ready. I was a bit disappointed as it was the first time I'd been here and I was looking forward to it. On a positive note, the staff were lovely and courteous.

Excellent smash burger that melts in your mouth. The wait can take a while during busy periods so call your order ahead. In any case, it's worth the wait. Food is always cooked fresh to order. I just wish they were closer to my house!

I literally drove all the way from Dewsbury to Birmingham to have the Angus burger. The burger is probably the best I’ve had in this country and the Cajun creamy sauce with a hint of oregano is the best meal to have in Birmingham.

The food will blow you out of this world. The smash burgers make my day each time I order them. If you're coming here you NEED to get the chicken strips and loaded fries you can't go wrong.

Gone downhill massively Paid for argus got smash Hardly any sauce in the burger, fries were cold, no onions or lettuce just a basic smash burger with a bit of sauce and you have the cheek to charge those prices. Tell Your staff to stop yapping away and service it's customers🙄 Been here loads of times and can definitely say that the prices have increased and the quality of the food has decreased.

My experience of trying Phat Jo's food was one to remember! Their flavoursome Smash Burger meal was amongst the best I've tasted in my whole life! All the Staff very polite, helpful and gave the best customer service I've had in a while! I 'd definitely give them a 5 star rating.

Smash burgers are fire!! Just need to increase to salad options on the burgers i.e red onions and tomatoes (I already know it's a personal preference lol just nice to have the options)

Not much I can say other than this is one of the best meals I’ve had all year. The brother who runs the stall is friendly, professional, hygienic and knows his stuff. The smash burgers are fresh, juicy and cooked very well. They don’t skimp out on the sauce, covering the fries and chicken strips in fried onions as well. I would come back to Birmingham just to eat this again. 10/10. The price for me and my mate was just £24! Well worth the cost.

Order was burger and fries and a portion of beef loaded fries. Fries were cold, stale and hard in both portions. Ruined the loaded fries, even the cheese was cold hard and tasteless. I’m disappointed at spending £20 here, for a barely edible meal.

I've heard from friends and fellow burger enthusiasts that Phat Jos serves up some of the best burgers in town. People rave about the quality of the ingredients, the perfectly cooked patties, and the mouthwatering flavor combinations. It's definitely a go-to spot for burger lovers! 🍔👌 Timing hasn’t been updated but here is the new opening hours Monday to Thursday open from 12pm until 1am Friday and Saturday open from 1pm until 1am Sunday open from 2pm until 1am.

The burger was tasty and juicy and the sauces were really amazing. What I like about them is that the burger and the sauces are home made. Please any one goes there try to put the containers in the pin when you finish your meal. Thanks

Best food on Stratford road! Place is always busy is the only problem but it’s because the food is so damn good! Travel to eat from this place and it’s not close to me! Get free wings sometimes if the wait is long! Polite service and everything on the menu is 10/10!

Travelled from Liverpool. Angus burger was 10/10 (see pics). Guy who served me was a nice fella no messing about when I asked what the recommendation was. You can pay Cash or Card. Plenty of unique sauces to choose from and they’re not stingy with it. They have alternative soft drinks (see pics). There is also a mosque next door if you need it. (See pics).

Genuinely disappointed, ordered the phat joe after many had recommended it. Firstly had to wait over 40 mins for it which wasn't a bother until it arrived Cold with the fries overdone. The burger itself was the biggest disappointed with half the fillings missing. Unfortunately will not be coming back here. £13 for this meal. Not good enough

Travelled from London and went to this much recommended place. Couldn’t be happier with the food. Order: 6oz smash burger meal Soft brioche bun, tender and succulent smash patty’s and skinny fries. The whole thing went together with a can of rubicon guava to couple it with. Would recommend and come back again👍🏻

What have you done you had the best burgers in Birmingham at one point this was my go to place now all your burgers are tasteless and even slightly burnt sometimes I've been coming back hoping you have went back to your old ways but your chef or chefs are cowboys who can't cook or season the meat properly I'm disappointed I hope you get the owner back on the grill and make them smashed burgers how you did when you opened👍🏽

Very mediocre, everything just tasted bland with no salt. Smash burger was alright, Loaded Fries was below average, wings are definitely frozen and fried chicken burger was eh. If it was cheaper i’d give it one higher rating but definitely not worth the price when you can go to other burger spots.

Ordered on uber eats and hands down the best burger I have ever had soooo goood. I ordered the XXXL Smash (12oz) with triple cheese and mayo was absolute fire!! Highly recommend phat jo's!

What can I say I have heard a lot about this place, the smash burgers were absolutely delicious cooked to perfection and very fresh, the chicken strips were spot on enjoyed it very much, the staff were lovely knew their stuff and very friendly, they also take card which is brilliant, will be back very soon, keep it up.

Had food delivered yesterday waited over an hour to get my food. Fries they gave extra but were so burnt i just threw them in the bin as they were inedible. Very disappointed with the service. And the fact the food wasnt the same as it was when i first ordered it the day before. Not ordering from here again!

Great Food!! Considering I ordered via uber eats at midnight I was impressed with the quality of the food. I had the angus loaded chips, crispy chips and the beef was juicy with the perfect amount of cheese. The angus burger although cooked well, lacked any flavour. I made the mistake of having the same chips as the burger, I added some NY barbecue sauce to the burger which took it to another level. Would I try again? Perhaps not, for £16 it’s not worth it and theres better alternatives available. But if you haven’t been its well worth a try

Two new Asian lads working at 8pm 11/Nov extremely rude. After an order was place on the phone 15 mins later. When we got there and decided we weren’t going to wait any longer they started whispering “Yes amongst them selves” extremely rude service from one of my regular burger stores

One of the best basic burger places in the midlands. If you're looking for a simple cheese burger with chips, you cannot beat Phat Jo's. The food is fresh and the quality of meat is second to none. The menu ain't extensive but why does it need to be. Parking is a nightmare but where isn't it in the Asian parts of Birmingham. The only thing they need to change are the Aldi buns for the burgers, they just ain't up for the job when used in a food business as they are buns for home cooking.

Not sure what all the hype is about. They only take cash too.

I wasnt sure about the quality of food from a street burger van, despite friends giving positive reviews. I was well impressed, the 10oz burger was amazing. But wasnt expecting much from the fries, but they were awesome aswel. You may have to wait as there is a queue usually but well worth the wait

Wanted to try this place as seen a review online, got the 6oz smash burger. Was a very good size and quite tasty. Decent all round; slightly greasy. Could have done with some onions in the burger rather than just lettuce. Parking can be a nightmare and I had to do a few rounds around the block to get a space.

UPDATE: from 4 to 1 star Used to have great burgers with great service, the burgers yesterday were dry and overcooked, and somehow greasy at the same time. Fries burnt and cold. I guess it makes sense since the guy behind the stove was also running across the road picking up stock, leaving the patties unattended on the grill. Fries crispy and cold. Drinks no longer kept cold. Rubbish strewn everywhere. Half hour wait. Unfortunate what a change a year has made

Came here yesterday after a 12 hour shift drove through Birmingham to get there so an extra 45 mins of my time, when I asked for a 9oz burger the person said they had no buns left and have sent someone to get some and said should be about 30 mins I said I'll come back next time. I went today after work I got there for 14:00 there was no one there and the shack closed.....more diesel and time wasted I won't be back shame really as Ive been watching videos on the socials and the burgers looked amazing. 1/5

Heard about this place but its over rated. Menus on google are out of date. Bunch of kids running the place. Rubbish flying about outwide the trailor. Parking was a nightmare. Would not recommend at all for the price we paid. Got our order wrong. To top it off the burger was empty. Just smash patties and cheese 🤣😂. Greasy as hell. Rock hard fries felt like they were fried in the morning. And they top it off with loads of sauces to make it flavoursome. It was such a greasy meal words cannot explain. Im not sure how these places run. Customer service is Zero. No apology on getting the order wrong. No compensation. But where happy to over charge. Waited over 45 minutes to get a meal. Not very fast food.

Got our order wrong waited 20 mins and when we got the right order it was literally couple strips in a dusty bun,whereas on the menu it said served with lettuce no salad in there,they need to update on their menu on google that they dnt do pitta anymore also chips are like smothered in some orangy overly sweet sauce i didnt enjoy it even in the burger they smothered the strips with the same sauce

Burgers average, location the worst possible, staff lovely, pricing wayyy too high. Wont be back and just dont get the hype.. maybe the staff are just well liked..?

Really disappointed. I thought this place would be good due to someone recommending, but my experience was poor. Had to wait 45 mins (which is understandable, as you are busy) but upon receiving my Angus burger, it did not taste properly cooked and didn't have quite the kick I expected it to have. I also told the guy about 3 times before I left to put their special recommended sauces on, which he said he has. Upon arriving home I found the fries had no sauce on them! Completely bland! This ruined my experience, and it is a shame this happened, as I do know this place has potential.
