Genuinely don’t understand the negative comments about this lovely establishment. My daughter and I travel from Shrewsbury regularly for their superb carvery… never ever had a disappointing visit. The staff are very welcoming and helpful… I must mention NATHAN the carver in Particular, he is always very helpful and greets everyone with a huge smile and lovely humour there is absolutely no doubt that he is a huge asset to Toby Carvery. Thank you again Apley team for another delicious lunch.

Booked large group table a month in advance, to ensure we would get in as its always been busy in the past. They took my contact details. Arrived on the day to find it shut up in darkness and handwritten sign on door saying closed due to refurb until further notice. Why bother to take contact details and then not use them to advise change in circumstances. Wagamama to the rescue! Having read the reviews since, I have to say it seems we had a near miss as the quality and service isn't what it used to be under previous management.

We had the sunday roast beef and lamb shank. The roast dinner tasted like it had been standing around for hours....meat and roast potatoes hard with no flavour. Lamb shank oily, no mint and drowned in gravy. Maybe we chose the wrong day of the week? Also, none of the puddings we ordered were available, although shown on the computer.

We were a bit concerned about some of the reviews of this bar but we need not have worried. We visited early in the evening for a drink before dinner. We had two small bottles of prosecco which cost £15.60 and we were pleased that the staff were so meticulous about cleaning the glasses.

Rang and asked to provide some hot breakfast sandwiches for 16 people at 9.20am. I arrived on time and everything was ready, staff were lovely and personable

Usually call in two times a week. On three occasions we have had a voucher to use. Today free cookie. Alas no cookies. Can accept that but last two occasions have tried to use a voucher and could not accept as they had run out. Should have gone to the costa inside next and tried there. So lure us in with offer of a free cookie then sorry have all gone. No alternative so looks like by I’m going to go elsewhere

Visited spa at Telford Golf & Country Hotel then had lunch in the Gorge Coffee bar. The food was excellent & service superbly managed by Lesley who was most welcoming. Lovely day out which I would highly recommend

Stopped by for a coffee whilst walking in the area. Lovely garden seating area. The coffee was average but it is a great place to stop at and enjoy the scenery. They have a few snacks and also ice cream. I was told it has been taken over by a charity helping ex-convicts so it deserves some patronage if you are passing.

Visiting the antique centre we saw it had a tea room. Very nice feeling and very clean. The rwo ladies serving were extremely helpful and very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble! Food was very good too! Excellent coffee! Will certainly go back.

I've been going to this nice place for many years & had a good relationship with this gentleman who owns the business. I thought! I've noticed over the years businesses set up, they can't do enough for their customers but unfortunately when they start being rude towards their customers it's time to throw in the towel. They do a card for valued customers. For each hot drink you purchase, you receive a stamp. Once the card is full, you get a free drink.. On one occasion I visited I forgot my card and he hadn't any spares to give me. He assured me on my next visit he would put two onto my card. I remember saying you won't forget will you joking. His reply was no with a smile. Guess what? On our next visit, I purchased food with two hot drinks served by another server. I asked to talk to the gentleman who served me on our last visit. He walked over and I explained politely. He said he couldn't remember and walked off. I asked him again politely. He replied it's just a card and walked off. Yes we have good days and bad days but unfortunately I've noticed over time the Saturday girls & boys have come and gone. Apparently, who havn't been treated nicely, one told me. Now his family are now behind the counter serving. It's just seems like a money making machine with no warmth no smiles towards the customers. I walked over to him and gave him my card. Unfortunately I won't be going back. Such a shame, but it needs to be mentioned.
