This was a spot on dinner with excellent staff,proper roast potatoes and fresh veg. Got 20%off with my Blue light card as well. Was very popular with other roast dinner lovers

We had carvery lunch here today ( we often come here) today was an exception as there was a deal on the carvery so it was incredibly busy . We queued for a while for the carvery but absolutely cannot fault Neil the carvery. He was very professional and even though it was nonstop for him he was so friendly and happy with ALL customers. A huge thanks to ALL the staff who were again very professional and worked so very hard to accommodate all customers. And as always the food was delicious.Thanks again Aplry staff.

We travelled from Stafford to have a carvery because in the past the carvery’s have been excellent. Yesterday’s carvery was awful, the beef was tough, the cauliflower was cold and the parsnips were very hard. We were disappointed. Will not be giving our hard earned money to this pub again.

Would not recommend at all, the sausages taste like the tinned hotdogs although they don’t look like tinned, bacon was not cooked enough, beans are watered down, had to wait for different items to come out separately so food on the plate was cold, mushrooms are nice, service is poo, staff don’t even know how to use the till properly, I definitely will not come again, I used to come quite often but since being taken over it has gone down massively

Hosted a new men’s breakfast club with 29 attendees Staff couldn’t have been more helpful ! Great food, really well looked after !!!!! All who attended were really pleased and are coming back to the next one in February !!!! Thank you to Paul and All The Team 🤙

Where to start other than DONT BOTHER !! We used to go here a lot but haven’t for a while and it’s really gone downhill. Booked a table for 10.50am for 7 online and it accepted it. 2 arrived and had to pay up front which was strange but now I know it’s because it’s that bad I would say people refuse to pay after. There was minimum food and it was all cold . 5 mins later when the other 5 arrived they were turned away as breakfast closes at 11 !!!! Another gentleman had been told by the chef he would bring him some bacon out that was swiftly closed down by one of the members of staff and he did don’t get it. Then to top it off they charge £3.50 for a flat Diet Coke. Total waste of money avoid at all costs

We booked for a family get together so we were a large (ish) party. In honesty we didn’t need to book there were plenty of spare tables (even on a Saturday lunchtime.) Went to the bar to find they had no draft beer (lager or bitter) so only option was to choose bottled beer. They couldn’t make a requested cocktail not sure why. The ladies toilets all 3 were out of order! Had to use the disabled toilet which someone then locked for some reason so after waiting 5 minutes thinking it was occupied then had to ask behind the bar for a key to open the only toilet available for women to use! It’s been a while since I’ve been here, it was always a favourite for a carvery. It is now tired looking in serious need of a decorating or at least a good clean. However the carvery, which we came for, was lovely. Would have preferred the plate to be warmer to keep the good hot. Only other niggle is they advertise lamb on a Saturday and there wasn’t any. It was the food and the guy carving who made this review higher than poor, with the amount of places to eat in Telford now I don’t think we will be back unless it’s refurbished.

My daughter and I travel regularly to the Apley Arms in Telford from Shrewsbury for the brilliant carvery. She is vegetarian, I am not and we can both genuinely say we have NEVER been disappointed with the service or the food, very helpful friendly staff ( a lady called Lisa goes above and beyond to help she’s a total star). food is always delicious and varied and we’ve always had it lovely and hot. It must be good for us to do a 24 mile round trip most weeks. Please keep up the great work.

Food was cold service was terrible ordered 4 deserts 3 came we waited but in the end left without it

Went here for Christmas festive lunch. Starter menu had 4 items but only 2 were available. We had the main course carvery which was measly on the meat and cold! On the positive side the profiterole dessert was good but the Christmas pudding was a mere slither on the plate. Staff were friendly but the whole place is in dire need of refurbishment. Shall not be going here again.

Very unimpressed with tonight’s visit, I sincerely hope this review gets back to the management and helps them improve, as if they don’t then they will very soon find themselves out of business My family have been going to toby carvery for many years and after tonight we won’t be going again for the following reasons 1 - Availability of products- There was an issue with the gas resulting in all draught drinks being unavailable. The selection of drinks was incredibly small, no cans of soft drinks!! We were told that the gas issue had been going on since Wednesday, I would have thought the management could have found a way to provide for their customers 2- Staff behaviour - The front of house staff were incredibly unhelpful, where we were seated, the waitress said she would give us a couple of mins to decide on our drinks we waited 15 mins for her to return (she didn’t ) we got the attention of another member of staff who told us to just go to the bar instead of table service. It wasn’t peak time so the staff were not rushed off their feet. The staff member serving the meat was not at all welcoming and gave off the vibe that he just didn’t want to be there 3- Cleanliness was very poor, the area around the carvery serving station was disgusting, food and sauce spilled on the floor, which had a greasy shine on it, food spilled on the sides. Several members of staff were in the area and not one of the attempted to clean up despite actually watching a customer slip on the dirty greasy tilled floor. 4 - Service etiquette, never have I been to a restaurant where the waiter/waitress cleared the finished plates while someone was still eating, this actually happened tonight!!! The food was relatively good, however the Yorkshire puddings were cold and a mix of crunchy and soggy and the macaroni was dry Tonight’s experience is clearly down to poor management. The drinks issue could have been worked around, there is a wholesale store less than 15 mins away where alcohol and soft drinks could be sourced to avoid customer disappointment The staff attitude towards customer service and satisfaction needs vast improvement, we interacted with 4 staff members non of which gave us a positive impression so clearly not an individual thing The staffs attention to cleanliness and safety need a complete overhaul where they are directed clean up mess and not just walk past it The entire place needs a good clean and maintenance in the toilets is definitely required Apologies for the long post but this things need to be shared

Last Friday afternoon, 22nd September 2023, I held my late mothers wake at the Apley Arms Toby Carvery Telford, and were fortunate enough to be be given exclusive access to the restaurant for the afternoon. The restaurant was very well organised and beautifully presented and the staff had clearly gone to very great effort to get everything prepared prior to our arrival and to make, what was an extremely difficult day, very special for us. The servery was beautifully presented and the food was fantastic. The staff worked tirelessly to make sure all of our guests were very well looked after, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon together. Richard, Lisa, and their team looked after us fantastically, their thorough professionalism and support was very much appreciated and they are an absolute credit to the organisation! They made a very difficult and emotional day very special!!

Went in for Sunday carvery, food was lovely, was a very hot day and very warm inside, really felt for the staff but they were tip top, well done.

This is quite a dirty pub with torn furniture and VERY busy but that wasn't what my problem was. My daughter had to leave the carvery queue (and left me there) to seek information regarding dairy (butter on the veg etc), this is because she is breastfeeding and her child has a dairy allergy, she was directed towards a lady with an app to sort it out. After she was finished, another server started ridiculing my daughter behind her back to another male server. Sadly for her this was all seen and heard by my other daughter who was sitting at the table nearby "well just don't eat the vegetables/peas then!!" amongst other bits. You don't go for something to eat to be ridiculed. There are other people who would love to be working and you get someone who obviously treats the customers as entertainment. I did complain to a manager while I was there but who knows if anything would be done I have included a photo of the 'lady' but I have had to crop it to remove other diners - you can still see who it was though

Very poor roast potatoes was well over cooked meat was dry and Yorkshire puddings was not fit for purpose.Both chef's was rude demanding the till receipt after being told that the person who was sat down had it and would bring it up.

Went for breakfast with the family the staff are lovely and the food was really nice except there were no eggs available. Unfortunately they need a good cleaner the toilets were terrible

Been here on numerous times and it was always OK, but this time it was very very disappointing, if I could have given it no stars as a rating I would have. The food when we got it was cold, and I mean cold, we spoke to one member of staff who got the food checked and said that we could get fresh plates again. Thought at the time, this was now sorted, we got food again, this time the food was hotter, thought ok, but a lot of the food was under cooked and very taste less, however members of our group noticed a strange taste to some of the food, the gravy was was also thinner than water. When we arrived we noticed the venue was very quite, normally at this time of day it would always be busy. We all agreed that we will never attend this place again, left feeling so disappointed.

what a shambles! The poor chef was run ragged making toast filling up empty pans and serving quests. It would help soo much if another staff member could replenish the food . Social distancing in place until we sat back down after half hour wait to get our food and next table practically touching us so I asked if they could be moved as not 2 metres not even 1 metre and they had a dog ! Didn't know we had been placed in a dog section ! Were made to feel like we were horrible people for complaining . The staff then told us to move i had to say no as half of us were eating.I told my husband I would speak and apologise to the man when he got up from the table he had been moved to. When he did I began speaking to the man he must have been angry because he ignored me and slammed the fire exit doors shut and the elderly woman sat with him asked me if I wanted a fight! To which I said really im half your age mind and the young team leader Kyle came over and told me to be quiet! The manager was nowhere to be seen in a meeting . It was such a horrible experience we will never go there again ! Kyle told us they were regulars so that must have given them the right to threaten new customers for complaining .

Very good food felt really safe. Chef was fantastic only serving food to the highest standard.Very friendly staff and very helpful.

The organisation under current circumstances was well managed. Staff were busy, but attentive and we could not fault the food at all. It was tasty, plentiful and hot. There was a good range of roast meats, vegetarian alternatives and many different vegetables to choose from. Our party were extremely satisfied. Thanks to all the staff, both kitchen and front of house who made our evening such a memorable one. We are already planning our next visit.

Appley arms shawbirch has done amazing job on social distancing. .I am an vunerable lady with diabetes / liver probs. Been once a wk for breakfast .felt soon comfortable . nothing was too much trouble .staff so lovely 😂well impressed

Just been for a breakfast carvery here, the food was as good as you can expect when produced en mass. The service was second to none, all staff friendly, the breakfast chef sharing recommendations and having a joke with his customers. All the staff we encountered today are the pubs biggest assets.

Called in Friday 3rd January 2020 at 09.05.paid for breakfast and coffee.i had bacon eggs sausage hash brown eggs mushrooms.. Well this must be the worst breakfast I have ever tasted. Bacon was dry, sausages had been out that long they had a crust very tough outer skin. Egg looked and tasted like rubber. Overall food quality poor, must have been out hours or day before. One staff doing all the work other leaning on bar texting. Hoped when Toby took over we would see a improvement, sadly not so quite the opposite.. I await your reply.. Peter..

Popped into the apley arms on the way to Wales on a fri evening all new meat had just been put out there was plenty of it and mashed potato very nice

Have not been to the Apley in ages but my daughter & her friend ate there last week and said it was lovely so we thought we would try.We booked a table on line as my daughter said it was very busy,arrived just before 1pm on the Sunday and yes it was very busy with a long queue.We waited to be seated and were greeted by a very pleasant lady I am guessing the manager,who took us to our table and took our drinks order.Our drinks arrived and we went up to the carvery.5 meats were on offer including Lamb,the veg was being replenished every few mins and there was lots of choice.I had turkey & gammon,my husband had beef,gammon,turkey,lamb & pork.The food was lovely & we really enjoyed it,but the one thing that stood out was the fantastic customer service,everyone was very friendly and helpful,they were rushed off their feet all the time we were there,but remained happy to serve us and this is why i give 5 stars.Thank you everyone we shall return.

Lovely carvery , lovely staff , all round nice afternoon at the Apley arms.We went in today and we were looked after By a young man , he was polite and courteous, his name was Dan as it was on the receipt. Definitely worth a visit

For nearly £8 per head I expect alot more. I've seen more meat on a butchers apron. The roast potatoes have been kept warm for that long they were dry and shrivelled. Cauliflower cheese...ingredient missing enough cheese sauce to cover it. Plates were cold...not in a hurry to go back. For £60 (4 Roasts, sandwich and drinks) rip off!

Absolutely love this carvery, we go at least once a week and they are always consistent and friendly. Food is always fresh and warm and their beef dripping roasties are to die for.

Really good breakfast good value for money friendly staff would recommend it for Breakfast refillable teas and coffees too

Today on the spur of the moment we decided to try Apley Arms for a carvery.

Pre booked for Christmas lunch was pleasantly great and shown to our table, we were offered a choice of complementary drinks while we were served our starters,a part from a slight power cut was not there fault the service and food was fantastic, we were not rushed and aloud to enjoy ourselves which was great as it was our first time dining out on Christmas day. Would recommend and we will definitely return again. Thank you for making our day special

First time eating out for Christmas dinner and was not disappointed.The manageress greated each one of our party individually, offered us a complimentary drink on arrival and took us to the table which was set up with table runners, crackers and decoration. Service was spot on, food was lovely. Really cannot praise all the staff enough, even with a slight hiccup of a power outage (which was not their fault). Definitely going back, thank you all for a lovely time x

Today I brought a young lad I was supporting for his first visit to this carvery. We were greeted as soon as we’d taken three steps through the door which was fantastic and seated right away. The young lady who seated us explained how everything is done here and said we could go up to the service area as it suited us. Upon arrival there was no chef there as she was busy in the kitchen but she was out very quickly which again was excellent service. The food was lovely and very filling. Everything was fresh and hot. Would highly recommend coming here to anyone

My mum and i decided to go for dinner at this particular eatery because we hadn't been for a while. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was very tasty and plentiful. We will definately be going again. Well worth the money.

Never in my life will I ever eat here again and most certainly would I recommend this place. Most of the staff have zero hospitality skills, not all the food was available but most shocking of all which had me speechless is the carver wiping the sweat from his fore head and then picking up the plates with the same hand to serve the food, absolutely disgusting.. several people left their food on the counter and walked... I wonder why

I waited 15 minutes for someone to come to carve the meat for us. Numerous staff walking about but no server... Eventually came out smelling like cigarettes. Food was ok

Good value carvery not the best I've ever had by any means but still a wholesome meal and a reasonably cheap option for two hungry chaps on a Sunday afternoon.

HOME OF THE ROAST !! NO WAY TOBAY. We have only had one good meal here in all the times we have visited. This week we had gristly tough beef and overly salted gammon. The carver cut the very end part of the beef which was 90% gristle. Why do we keep going back? well we only go if we have vouchers, So don't waste your time and money go to the Woolpack instead and get well cooked good old fashioned pub grub.

Very excited to visit here as had been told food was very good. We arrived and waited for a table as didn’t book which was fine didn’t have to wait long at all, they knew we had a baby who needed a high chair but when showed to the table no high chair available then no effort was made to find one, my partner had his plate of food and still no high chair so we decided to leave without a meal for myself or our baby. No remorse shown by any staff and as we were leaving I spotted a high chair available!! Highly disappointing, maybe next time we should book although maybe they should invest in more high chairs as lots of other families I saw in the same position as us!

We waited in a line for half an hour before reaching the bar, only to get told there was no tables when we could clearly see up to 8 tables that hadn’t even been cleared from the previous customers and said we would have to wait around for 45 minutes and to top this all off the owner came downstairs in her night gown with no bra on shouting at a kid for talking to loud.. we shall not be returning here until something changes here

You turn to trip advisor for insight before visiting a venue. I also tried the Apley arms years ago and it was awful. My parents have recently been going there for Sunday lunch so I decided to tag along. I expect good food and service with a smile no matter where I am and I praise the Apley arms that they deliver on both these counts. I have enjoyed my meal and the staff have been efficient and friendly. It's a shame customers are put off by one person's experience instead of trying somewhere they might like themselves. I recommend the Apley arms as the times I've been there it's never disappointed.

He visitado los brazos antes de Apley años atrás y me quedé muy decepcionado, ya que estaba en un viaje con la familia decidimos probar de nuevo. La comida era deliciosa y el miembro del personal que nos servía (red) era muy tentativos y agradable con nosotros durante nuestra visita.

Absolutamente indignado comida disponible es limitado. El personal no es muy molesta no va allí de nuevo está empeorando. Una pena que comer en otros tobys y son excelentes.

No ha sido por un tiempo debido a la experiencia anterior indiferente Dios ahora es incluso peor. Fuimos para el desayuno y el tocino enganchado y duro, huevos eran como balas y sausges tenía algunos mal cocida.

Este es un pub y Toby se ha arruinado ya que se convirtió en uno. La comida es insípida y el servicio no es lo que usted quiere o espera de una franquicia grande.

Fuimos a la última Appley Miércoles, prácticamente no había carne y nos dijeron que sería en menos de una hora, lo que fue asqueroso y me he tenido una barriga ya? ! El lugar estaba sucio, sucio y telarañas colgando. Este lugar es una vergüenza.

Came here for a meal to celebrate a birthday! Meal wasn't to bad but could of been better...burnt food should not be left on show if anyone to eat!! Wasn't much in the way of veg at the time we were served!! Top the night off we paid the waitress for our drinks but when the bill came she had not told the bar staff we had paid so guess what damn nightmare sorting the bill out!! Will come again as I do like a good carvery but do think you need to train your staff correctly least get things right!!!

Wanting a quick bite to eat we decided on a carvery, we were impressed with the food, the vegetables were cooked well and the meat was moist.Only one negative any glass or Windows in the building were filth including those that separate booths.Overall very impressed and shall be back.

Absolutely dreadful!!!! This place has steadily gone downhill since it became a toby Inn. My lunch wasn't even warm!!! Waitress offered to put in the microwave came back no different!!!! Gravy is tasteless and thin just like water!!

we visited here on saturday just gone for a breakfast before our day of travelling. there was myself, my wife and our teenage son. we had visited especially for the breakfast buffet. the price including drinks was not brilliant but not bad either...just short of £20. unfortunately we did not stay longer than 10 mins as there was no food to actually eat. the containers were there under the heat lamps but empty. they did keep bringing the odd slice or two of stuff out but they were gone immediately. my son and i managed to get a few items but my wife did not manage to get anything. we had been avoiding this place as exactly the same had happened a year or so earlier. we were being optimistic on this occasion i suppose... such a shame it happened again. the staff were very helpful which is good as they gave us a full refund without quarrel. we got this and went elswhere

This was my second visit to the Apley Arms in years and yet again a customer was complaining to the manager about the food and bad manners from the staff. We were shown to our table and just 'left to it'. No one asked if we would like to order from the menu or if we were having a carvery. We decided because of the long wait that we would have a carvery. The food was okay.. we visited on a Sunday so the carvery was more expensive than the rest of the week and definitely not worth it. After finishing our carvery we were asked if we would like to look at the desert menu but after waiting 20 minutes for the menu because the waitress had forgotten we decided to pay up and leave. Will not be visiting here again

Called in on the off chance we could get a carvery.We were seated straight away despite it being obviously busy.Good service with drinks ordered and brought to the table within minutes.Great choice of meats, turkey, beef, gammon ham (all hot).Great choice of hot vegetables that looked as though they had been freshly put out not left around for hours like you get on some carverys.I am a carvery and Sunday dinner snob but I've got to admit I was really impressed, my only criticism (but this is applicable to everywhere I go!) THE GRAVY!!!WHY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CAN PLACES NOT SERVE THICK GRAVY (or at least thicker than the brown coloured water they try to pass off as GRAVY!)Overall very impressed and will return (although I will be taking my own GRAVY granules to thicken up my GRAVY!

I stop here quite often for breakfast. It's great value for money. And always have a good meal. The staff are good and helpful if you have any problems.

Touch and go really can be alright or can be really really bad, last few experiences Iv had there have been awful!! Beef fatty, gravy like water some staff are good.. but some just seem not to care and have an oh well attitude

Went to the apley about 3 weeks ago. 7 adults and 1 child. Prebooked to make sure we got a table because I understand that it's a popular place. We phoned them to book a table and was told that there was no room for when we wanted. I went onto their website and booked for when we wanted then phoned them back to confirm the booking and magically they could fit us in! So would advise booking online, then phone to confirm. We were seated straight away on arrival. The place was packed and there was a queue for the carvery. Queued for about 10 minutes (queue was longer later on, I think about a 20-25 min wait). Foodwise, there was lots of choice, 4 meats (you only get a choice of 3 at most places), loads of different fresh veg (loved the garlic mash!) Yorkshire puddings were home made and gorgeous. Service for getting drinks to the table was a little slow, but the food was that amazing that they're forgiven. Enjoyed it so much, we have been back since and booked again for boxing day. Good value for money.

Visited this place on Saturday evening at 7 30. It was practically empty. None of the starters required were available and some beers too.The carvery was ok but nothing special. The staff were scruffy and embarassed tooEven asked if we minded if they started hoovering while we were still in the restaurant!!!Disgrace to Toby Carvery name

Went on my birthday as a family 14 of us all had carvery bye time me and few others got served the others had finished after waiting in Q for 25 minutes then to be told they had run out of clean plates come on really you short on staff at 1 point there was 4 chefs filling veg trays if that's the way you run the place I wouldn't let you RUN A BATH if anyone is thinking of going there think again very poor

Went to Apley Arms today for sunday lunch with my grandson today not really any great shakes !Food was very average was a bit like being on a conveya belt but that did get us in .The usual bug bare all those joints of meat and rubbish gravy and a huge ladel to spoon out bread sauce that looked like porridge but as i say a quick fix .

Good value doesn't always mean poor quality. The Apley Arms offers an excellent carvery at a good price. booking advised.

Buffet style breakfast is lovely here with a very good price. We eat here fairly regularly. Carvery is OK, I judge on roast potatoes and the roast potatoes are never too good, always a little hard and not crispy. Other than that, the staff are helpful and friendly and this is a nice place to dine.

We called at this place as we wanted to see for ourselves what it was like ,now we have won't go again. Had to wait to be seated even though it was half empty then we're told they've only got beef and pork left as carvery then waited to be served at the bar, then they're saying only chicken left? Woman behind bar said go and get your meals as you've been waiting awhile,went to serving bar looked like beef had been there all day and the veg looked like it had been there all week! Best part nobody serving! Can't tell you what food tastes like cos we couldn't get any, by this time fed up so left. Can't recommend food won't recommend service. Give it a miss.

Visited with my son after a walk around Apley Woods. The waitress showed us to our table and gave us menus. I opened my menu to find it covered in mustard (see photo) Perhaps I should have taken that as a sign & left then. We ordered 2 comes ans said we would have the carvery. The comes arrived but tasted of chocolate! We went to get our food, but the chef was showing a woman out of the side door & having a conversation, so we waited. The food looked good. There was no cauliflower left, so I asked the chef if there was more. He said it would be out soon, and they would bring it to the table. Sadly it never materialised.I couldn't find fault with the food. Finished up and left. I will not be returning

Today the carvery meal was hot and nicely cooked. This is available all day. Liam and Abbie were very pleasant and helpful. They also do a lovely breakfast.

My son and his family took me for an early Father's Day meal as he will be away the weekend I've been to this carvary several times in the past but not in the last 6 months Sadly it seems the service and food have gone downhill Badly We were told to go to carvary and waited there 10 minutes for someone to serve us The food beef was so dry it must have been there a very long time The gammon wasn't much better and very very salty However everything was less than Luke warm apart from the gravy I found it uneatable and complained They didn't charge me for my meal but that wasn't the point we went for a evening out and it was spoils It will be a long time before I go there again

I have visited apley arms on many occasions for the breakfast however this time was a bit dissapointing. Customer service was good when greeted at the bar but the lack of mushrooms at the breakfast and the fact the sausages were cremated was a let down.

We recently visited here on numerous occasions and have had the opportunity to try both their all you can eat breakfast and all you can eat carvery (although not on the same day). Both their meal options are lovely and very very reasonably priced... The only reason I gave 4 stars was purely because sometimes a few of the meal options needed refilling and this took a while which resulted in a queue of people forming. The food when we have been has always been hot and with both meals they have always had a good choice of foods available.

Price is a bit on the high side to be honest at £8.99 pp. for an average carvery. I've at much nicer for this price.Refills on Pepsi at just under £3. Service was fine. We were pleased it wasn't rammed in here on Easter Sunday as we decided last minute. It is much better here now than when I last visited a while ago.

Great carvery here, always plenty on offer and always seating available every time i have visited ... also all you can eat breakfast is a bargain.

The family often dine here as it is near home and offers roast beef, turkey, and gammon roast dinners at reasonable cost.

Went for breakfast wasn't that late and half the stuff had already run out, what was left was dry, cold, hard and obv been out for awhile! Lots of tables all around us were not cleared in including the one we sat on, we had to put the dirty plates onto table next to us, wont be going back again would rather go to the Woolpack which is a stones throw away up the road and would suggest others do the same!
