Rang and asked to provide some hot breakfast sandwiches for 16 people at 9.20am. I arrived on time and everything was ready, staff were lovely and personable

2nd March 2023: This is a great place to get anything from a cuppa to a full cooked lunch. They have a specials menu which has some lovely home cooked dishes on it like cauliflower cheese, or lasagne etc. The selection changes. It's really near (500 yards) from the entrance to the centre and all on one level. They cater for wheelchairs/pushchairs too. All the staff are lovely and will try to cater to all needs (I've never seen anyone be turned away yet). I can't praise this place highly enough. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. 5⭐

Lovely staff. Great variety of hot food if you're looking for lunch. Lovely cakes if you just want something light or to treat yourself, all at a very reasonable price. Nice surroundings.

Popped in to get some take out lunch. Nice selection of paninis which were made fresh and delicious. Simple ham rolls for the kids worked well for our 3 year olds. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Saw some apple pie that I wanted but didn't because I was taking away.

Order was taken with no issue. Had to ask for milk for the tea. Ordered an omlette with salad for myself and a sandwich for my mom. Waited 25 minutes omlette was cold and they had not made the sandwich. Asked for mayonnaise twice and never got it. Will never waste time or money going in there again.

Made an account just to review this cafe. Portion sizes are minuscule, food is sub par and service lacking. Only thing I enjoyed was leaving.

I have never written a review but today’s visit was horrendous. We had to wait sooooo long for our breakfast today. And when the food arrived they forgot our toast. We had a few bites and just left. Would not recommend this place at all. There is a lot more better places to eat in the centre! So many angry customers this morning. I heard a staff member tell the customer to shut up and wait. Horrific. Avoid at all costs!

This has now reopened as the Hummingbird Cafe. Stayed at the premier inn and came here for breakfast - great value for money, friendly and efficient service and good quality breakfast. Much better than Wetherspoons where we’d gone the day before.

Came here for a breakfast. It was genuinely the worst breakfast we have ever had, everything was deep fried. The food is the cheapest money can buy, sausages were like mush and tasted awful, mushrooms were dried up and crispy (over microwaved) the half a tinned tomato was quite nice though. Both eggs were fried solid! The toast was buttered with the cheapest of cheap margarine which tasted awful. The sauce bottles and condiments were all filthy as were the cups. The tea had all floating bits in it which looked like the bottom of a kettle (which we didn’t see till the end of the drink!) not a place we would ever go again. We would have passed these comments to the staff but nobody came near. None of the staff wear hairnets either so just to top it off there was a hair in my meal!! Avoid!!!

Lowest quality food, sticky tables and dismal service. If you have low standards then you could stomach this place otherwise I’d recommend you pass of eating here.

Visited the cafe after a walk through the park. Firstly the tables are so filthy and need a really good clean. The menu sticks to the table with food residue on it. I went to the counter to order and there was food spilt all over the place. I ordered a tuna mayo sandwich on white bread. When it came it was tuna mayo on a jacket potato. When I told the waitress before she even put it on the table she said"well will you just eat that instead?" I said "no i wanted a sandwich not a potato". She returned with my sandwich, which she had just scrapped the tuna off the potato and put it on the bread with chunks of potato attached. I wish I'd have walked out as soon as I saw how filthy the place was. I can't see how they have gained a 5* hygiene in ratings because they don't deserve it.

Our first visit to this Cafe as none of the other main cafes are open before 9am. On our visit one lady was doing all the work herself from the order taking to cooking breakfasts for multiple customers. The place could do with a good cleanse as all the children’s tables were covered in bits of food and the tables were sticky. The photo of the menu attached was soaked in tea or coffee which had absorbed into the menu. The food was not very warm when served and the hash browns were very solid for something that had just been cooked. On the day we went to the cafe it was 1 Celsius-outside and the cafe was just as cold inside too. The prices are reasonable as shown on the menu pictures.

A wonderful cheap cup of tea and simple wholesome food with a friendly staff and atmosphere. They regularly hold craft fairs and other interesting events at the venue too. Great place to sit and meet friends...

Low prices, friendly & helpful staff, WiFi, relaxed atmosphere. Between Southwater & the shopping precinct - very economical simple cafe amidst all the over-priced chain eating houses.

I been at that cafe only once when I was travelling to Chester and never again. I have ordered breakfast with tea.Tea was ok but breakfast was just warm.Bacon and sausage was rock hard. You can tell they keep them in a hot plate or something like that but they weren't freshly cooked. When I mentioned about my breakfast owner answered me in attitude saying they cook everything fresh so my breakfast shouldn't be cold!...So I didn't say anything after that. Also it wasn't so busy but tables and floor was dirty. It might be cheap place but cheap is not good all the time.

Just outside the shopping centre opposite Wilkinsons this is a welcome and unpretentious alternative to the overpriced big chains of coffee shops and trendy eateries.. We didn't eat but saw a complete range of decent looking food being served from breakfasts to salads and jacket potatoes all at very reasonable prices.

I've been going to this nice place for many years & had a good relationship with this gentleman who owns the business. I thought! I've noticed over the years businesses set up, they can't do enough for their customers but unfortunately when they start being rude towards their customers it's time to throw in the towel. They do a card for valued customers. For each hot drink you purchase, you receive a stamp. Once the card is full, you get a free drink.. On one occasion I visited I forgot my card and he hadn't any spares to give me. He assured me on my next visit he would put two onto my card. I remember saying you won't forget will you joking. His reply was no with a smile. Guess what? On our next visit, I purchased food with two hot drinks served by another server. I asked to talk to the gentleman who served me on our last visit. He walked over and I explained politely. He said he couldn't remember and walked off. I asked him again politely. He replied it's just a card and walked off. Yes we have good days and bad days but unfortunately I've noticed over time the Saturday girls & boys have come and gone. Apparently, who havn't been treated nicely, one told me. Now his family are now behind the counter serving. It's just seems like a money making machine with no warmth no smiles towards the customers. I walked over to him and gave him my card. Unfortunately I won't be going back. Such a shame, but it needs to be mentioned.

Very impressed with our meal. We popped in to see when they started serving food as it was 11.30 and their sign said 12.30 but they were well underway with breakfasts and lunches. We went for beer battered fish chips and a choice of mushy or garden peas, and a prawn and Marie rose sandwich with a choice of brown or white bread. The service was very prompt and served with a smile. We also had a pudding from the specials board, OMG cherry pie and custard or ice cream. And again very prompt service. Lastly we had a decaff tea and latte with syrup and best of all for the 2 of us around £40 which we thought was very reasonable. Thank you to the staff and we will see you again very soon....

I first visited this restaurant in September and had a lovely meal no complaints, I’ve since visited twice more, in early October, I visited again., I ordered a meal again and asked for a rump steak medium, when it arrived, it was rare, I left the table and quietly went up to tell the waitress that it wasn’t as I had ordered, she apologised and 10 minutes later my steak arrived back, it was inedible !! I called in tonight for a drink, & the chef’s wife asked if she could have a quiet word with me round the corner, - She told me in no uncertain terms that I was not welcome, & I would never be served again. I asked why, she told me that I’d complained before about the meal, and that I had gone into the bar afterwards and told everyone about the awful meal I had had. This was a downright lie as I am not that kind of person. It’s a sad time if a restaurant cannot take any criticism without banning someone for complaining.
