The best restaurants in Wiltshire South West

Had lunch here today. Totally loved it. Short drive from Bristol, and it was a delight, the small pub had maintained its traditional feel. The food was exactly as I had hoped, stylish and quality pub grub. Will definitely be back and would recommend everyone 👌 🙂

Amazing food, fantastic staff and a lovely setting. All ruined by the highhanded and arrogant attitude of the manger. Friends had booked this for my birthday, we went with 3 small dogs. My elderly dog has been really ill and I am lucky she is still with me. Something in the restaurant made her cough, I suspect it might have been an allergy to thatch. I totally understand that, had there been other customers nearby (there weren't), they may have found her coughing distressing. The manager shown zero compassion and demanded I put my dog in the car. This totally ruined the experience for all of us and I felt so bad for my friends, who are local and up to now have used the restaurant regularly (they won't now). Had this been dealt with in a caring and compassionate way it would have been very different. We had our puddings and coffee in the garden and I spoke to the manager about his attitude. He deducted the pudding from the bill and said if I come back I should have a glass of champagne with him. As if! Either the restaurant is dog friendly or it isn't. I have never, ever been treated like this and it pretty much ruined my weekend.

Absolutely amazing spa day for me and my wife today with wonderful staff, amazing surroundings and some of the best treatments we have ever had. Couldn’t recommend this place enough and we are so lucky to live as close as we are to Bishopstrow.

If you come to this restaurant expecting to eat how Thai people eat you won’t get it, this is how Thai people WANT to eat, I eat Thai food daily (as I’m engaged to a Thai woman) and I can tell you, the food, presentation, variety, attention and accuracy preparing the food in this place is 100/10

Food was ok, beers were ok, would visit again

They did their best . The room was comfortable but dated, not bad, for the price.

We have never been to this restaurant before but after seeing some positive reviews we thought we would try it for lunch. The restaurant had plenty of parking , which is always a plus , and the food on the menu looked great . As I need a gluten and diary free meal this can sometimes be tricky , but I ordered the burger and fries , and it was hands down one of the best burgers I have had. Really tasty and great portion size . The service was also excellent, and we had a lovely time. I would highly recommend this place , and will be going back for sure .

I’ve never written a review but felt I should as so very disappointed with our experience in this country pub /restaurant. Booked to have a family celebration meal last Saturday while on holiday in the Cotswolds, one of our party had ordered sirloin steak , she ate some and thought it didn’t taste right so her partner said he’d swop with his fish and chips meal , he tasted it and also said it didn’t taste right , I then smelt it and it was definitely gone off , so I told the waitress who asked if we wanted something else , I said no just want it taken of the bill . The waitress came back and said the chef agreed that it was gone off and apologised, said they would take it off the bill. I couldn’t understand how the chef didn’t notice prior to serving that it was gone off as smell was so strong . It upset our whole evening as the two people who ate some of the steak were worried they’d be ill. The rest of the meals were ok but over priced.

We booked a table for three at the Westbrook for Sunday Lunch last week. Two of us chose the Roast Beef, my father-in-law decided on the Cornish Sole, we all agreed that all of our dishes were cooked to perfection. The dessert menu was to die for and we will definitely return & wholeheartedly recommend the Westbrook. All of the staff were attentive, and the service was excellent, this was matched by the decor and ambience of this superb venue.

It was an excellent experience and we received a warm welcome. The food was sensational and the presentation was excellent, making everything look appetising, plus the service was very good. In addition, it is a comfortable, relaxing location.

Very disappointed. 4 of us had meals, 2 of us had hunters chicken which was disgusting, it was tough and dry and stingy looking, we mentioned and showed bar staff how bad chicken was but all she could say was I will inform Chef, no apology and we were still charged full price. My family have been going here roughly weekly for at least 10 years on a Mon or Tues and twice on a Monday evening we have had bad experiences with food and the barmaid is abrupt & does not care about customer satisfaction. Also once on a Tuesday we had a bad meal but the lovely cheerful barmaid that does a Tuesday's was very helpful & replaced my meal straight away. As we paid for the meal i took the dry chicken home for my dog, even she didn't eat it.
