Nice ales and quite good food. But run down Need a better management overall Little drab and the garden needs a lot of attention Fells very depressing and needs a good clean and freshen up. With a little attention and more in the way of decorating could bring more joy and customers Sad to see as it’s the last pub in the village

Found this pub after we walked the dogs. It's very dog friendly and the staff are really welcoming to both dogs and humans. It was a sunny day so we parked ourselves in the garden. Instead of a Sunday roast we went for baked camembert and a tapas plate. It was lovely eating outside and the food was great. It's obviously a popular pub. We arrived before 12pm when it was quiet but when we left at 2pm it was very busy.

I’ve never written a review but felt I should as so very disappointed with our experience in this country pub /restaurant. Booked to have a family celebration meal last Saturday while on holiday in the Cotswolds, one of our party had ordered sirloin steak , she ate some and thought it didn’t taste right so her partner said he’d swop with his fish and chips meal , he tasted it and also said it didn’t taste right , I then smelt it and it was definitely gone off , so I told the waitress who asked if we wanted something else , I said no just want it taken of the bill . The waitress came back and said the chef agreed that it was gone off and apologised, said they would take it off the bill. I couldn’t understand how the chef didn’t notice prior to serving that it was gone off as smell was so strong . It upset our whole evening as the two people who ate some of the steak were worried they’d be ill. The rest of the meals were ok but over priced.

We were staying quite local and popped in for dinner. Staff were very welcoming and friendly, the pub is decorated beautifully with twinkly lights and the food was delicious. If we’re in the area again we will visit (for info food not served till 6pm).

We walked to The White Hart from Lower Mill Estate along the Thames Path — such a lovely walk! We had pre-booked a table for 8 people (plus a dog) and everything was ready for us when we arrived. The food was really good, reasonably priced, and the portion sizes were great too. Perfect spot after a walk!

We had a good size room with an ensuite, bay window and a glorious sea view. The breakfast was outstanding and the staff friendly and helpful. My dogs were welcome and all in all it was a pleasant stay.

Terrible smell of stale cooking oil. Needs ventilation and staff might benefit from some training in customer service.

Came here for dinner whilst staying the weekend in the area, a beautiful rustic village pub. Warm welcome, and seated quickly (we didn’t pre-book but would advise if eating later, as it soon filled up!) Great friendly staff, food was superb. The Caesar salad is one of the best I’ve ever had. There is a small car park with 3-4 spaces but we drove up the road and parked there for free.

Ate here on a Thursday evening. Chose two of the specials and were not disappointed. Service a little bit slow but it was worth the wait.

Another amazing dining experience here again. When we are in the area it’s our ‘go to’. We wanted their festive menu and pre ordered. Every dish and course were superb. They even dressed the table with festive linen and crackers which was lovely. It made a special birthday celebration all the more memorable. The service was excellent as was the welcome. Thank you once again. Wholly recommend!

Great looking pub inside, very cosy. Has private parking for customers which is great. Was left waiting for a little while in restaurant entrance before being seated, waitress walked past us twice without acknowledging us which left us wondering if we were waiting in the right area (we were in the right area). Food was OK, we had burgers. Burgers were ok but chips could have been better, they were very oily and felt like they had been pre cooked and then plunged into hot oil again to reheat.

Been here many times always very good. Had our staff Christmas lunch here .Booked again this Christmas. Lovely welcoming pub & restaurant. I am a chef so very critical of food & service. It is always good

We had a wonderful Sunday roast at the WH a few weeks ago. Service was really friendly and attentive and there was an excellent selection of different roasts. We both had the nut roast and it was delicious! The cauliflower cheese was a triumph aswell. Great wine list with some nice options by the glass.

Fantastic Sunday lunch, best I've ever had, we all had different meats and all exceptional! Oh and the cauliflower cheese was amazing. Glad I pre-booked as it was very busy and understandably so. The chatty friendly staff made our experience even more memorable. Wish we lived closer!

We came here as a family of 12 on 27th October whilst in the area for a staycation. Everyone in the group said just how delicious the food was! The roasts boasted large portions with everything so fresh. The kids menu was great as well as fish and chips and burgers that were ordered too. This is truly a hidden gem and we would recommend stopping by. Thank you to all the staff who were so friendly and accommodating, especially for all the children and disability access. Thanks again!

A real village pub. Fabulous atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastically managed. Located in the heart of the very pretty village of Ashton Keynes. The food is absolutely delicious, good serving size. A meal here will not dissapoint!

Me and my friends came here for lunch and had a lovely meal. The food was really good and they had a great selection on the menu. The pub didn’t feel that clean which is obviously quite common with British pubs, however it didn’t feel like our table had been cleaned nor the bar when I leant on it (but that’s only a small thing of course). It was very cosy though and we would come again :)

Generally very good, but need to clean up garden. Pub on Sunday lunch busy, with locals, diners and drinkers. Good atmosphere. We sat outside and the garden is filthy. Overflowing ashtrays, litter, tables not wiped down. We have been here a few times this summer and it’s always been exactly the same. On a previous occasion I brought their attention to it and was told there had been a bit party in the previous night. 1) irrelevant, it’s now Sunday lunch 2) untrue, they never clean the garden. For goodness sake, if you’re going to serve people outside, treat it the same as inside and CLEAN!! Otherwise this could be a really good pub

A cracking pub with lovely food and very good service let down by the regulars at the bar, racist and rude to non regulars, telling others at the bar they are entitled to being served first as they are regulars.

Wow, what can I say went for an off the cuff meal with my fiancé. Luckily we got a table and I went for the rump burger at £16 and my partner went for the fish and chips at also £16. The meal arrives the fish looked big and really lovely chunky chips, I had fries with my burger no salad as that was extra. The rump burger was dry and chewy over cooked and not cooked as a rump burger should be a little pink, so dry and unloved, the fries were fries but on the hard hollow and greasy side. The fish on my partners plate was cocooned in a thick quilt of batter, after getting through that the fish was hard and dry which was so disappointing, the peas were like bullets but as stated the chips were brilliant. The manageress came over and was brilliant she replaces my partners meal but the fish was in the same condition as the last. All in all disappointing and a high price for a substandard meal. Plus point was the politeness and professionalism shown by the manageress She did knock off the price of the fish meal.

Ploughman's was excellent, but returned next day for Sunday Roast and disaster! Beef was bleeding onto plate, asked for it to be cooked a bit more and when it was returned to me the veg had been removed! and yorkshire burnt up, so only had tiny bit of veg left on table which by then was cold . When tried to eat food the meat was so very tough !! and roast potatoes were so hard, just not enjoyable.

Massive meals, small menu but also a Specials Board with very different selection of normal pub grub. The Chips are huge and we really enjoyed it, best to book as very popular and parking is restricted.

Couldn’t have been any better. My wife and I came here for our mini-moon after our wedding, whilst staying in Ashton Keynes. The food, service and attention to detail were all spot on. We went for the steak night and weren’t disappointed. The food was fresh and tasty, the staff friendly and helpful and due to messaging beforehand about our recent marriage, the staff had set up our table with red petals and were kind enough to upgrade our wine! Little things like this make great memories and we would highly recommend anyone staying in the area to drop in.

Booked online for a party of 3 on a Saturday evening. We were not acknowledged on arrival despite 3 separate members of staff seeing us. Waited 5-10 minutes to be greeted, not told where our table was, food took an hour to arrive and was very average tasting. Had to order at the bar despite sitting inside where it was table service as no one seemed interested in serving us. Our drinks were taken off the bill because of the wait for our meal. Lovely setting, very pretty village and well looked after pub but service needs a lot of improvement.

Visited twice during our stay in Cotswolds and loved it both times. On first occasion we both had club sandwich which was amazing and extremely filling and came with chips. We also visited for Sunday lunch and the food and service was excellent. 2 of the family had the lamb roast and 2 had the turkey and stuffing. Huge portions and high quality with large selection in f fresh vegetables. The cauliflower cheese was to die for. We highly recommend to anyone looking for good quality products. Will definitely return next time we are in Cotswolds.

Lovely little country pub that we've stumbled upon in the middle of a long drive. The wild boar burger, and the fish & chips were both bloody lovely. If you're playing, it's well worth dropping in

We were staying in the village and I had read very good reviews. All deserved: the staff were very friendly and the quality of the food was excellent.

Friendly pub with good service and dog friendly, quite small so can be hard to get a table during busy times like Sunday lunch but a good place to stop for a pint whilst out and about.

7 family members enjoyed a delicious lunch at this lovely pub , with a welcoming and helpful lady serving us , nothing was too much trouble. Four of us had pork belly which was very tasty and plentiful, but other items on the specials board looked equally tempting. We meet up and visit a different pub in the Glos / Wiltshire /Oxford area each month and this pub was definitely one of the best .

We had a delicious Sunday lunch here - excellent roast and friendly staff. Unspoilt pub with a great atmosphere. If you are staying at Lower Mill there is a lovely walk along the Thames Path to the pub.

Our family had a lovely Sunday roast here. The food was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the pub had a great atmosphere.

Went here for lunch on a busy Saturday. Managed to secure a table in the bar. Pub was busy throughout but there were not excessive waits for food or drinks. Had the prawn sandwich and the tandoori sandwich. Good doorstop bread and crunchy chips. Delicious. Will visit again for sure.

So last Sunday (11th), we drove up from Swindon for a prawn sandwich (they are lovely), only to find that the pub only does Sunday roasts and a few other options that day. Our disappointment was brief when I looked at the huge Sunday roasts other customers were trying to get the better of. The place was full but we were found a place to sit for the two of us and we ordered the roast beef Sunday dinner and the fish and chips, both of which were excellent. Moving on to today, the weather was nice and my wife was missing her prawn sandwich so we motored around and stopped for lunch at the White Heart. Now my wife had her prawn sandwich, which comes with Salad and crisps, but I had a toasted bacon Brie and cranberry sandwich with nice chunky chips and that as my grandkids would say was “awesome”. To conclude, we have eaten at the white heart inn about ten times over the last couple of years and we have always had good meals there.

Really wonderful Sunday roast for a family of 9 with fantastic service. All family members enjoyed their meal, couldn’t fault it, couldn’t eat all our veg and the meat was cooked to perfection! Thank you for a great celebration meal in cosy, warm, friendly surroundings.

An absolute delight going to the white heart the food was cooked well and it was delicious and piping hot the sevice was great and the prices were exceptional we had fish and chips and sausages and mash excellent food l would recommend it good portions and excellent service thank you

We called in for lunch without a reservation, they accommodated all twelve of us very well even though it meant pushing some tables together. The beer was good and the sandwich were huge. I would especially recommend the prawn marie rose sandwich and the roast beef, both were outstanding

A lovely little local pub. We were staying in South Cerney so drove to White Hart Inn to find parking was minimal so had to find a space nearby, which wasn't too back. It was very busy for a weekday evening and only had 1 member of staff on duty at the time we arrived, they seemed rushed off their feet and the service wasnt the fastest but we wasn't in a rush and they still took the time to make sure we were ok. The food was delicious, the meal was affordable and we really enjoyed our evening.

Stopped in here on a family bike ride, all very muddy after the recent rain. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating, finding us a place to stow our stuff and find us a table. We arrived without a reservation on an extremely busy lunchtime, but were sorted out with some enormous,tasty toasties as well as a nice pint or two on the pumps. Good value, too. I don't usually write reviews for pubs, but this team deserves a mention for just being so welcoming.

One of the friendliest pubs I’ve been to. Staff were warm, happy and welcoming. The pub is dog friendly. The menu had a good range - sandwiches, toasties, burgers, pasta, and catered well for vegetarians. The food was well portioned and a good price. The pub was decorated for Halloween, and was bright, airy, and spacious. It felt like a traditional pub in a lovely quaint village. The only downside was the cleanliness - both high chairs were dirty, and one had lots of food still left on it, and the floor dirty too.

Food was good, slightly above average for a pub. Staff did the job but didn't really go above and beyond taking the order and serving it when it was cooked. I found it hard to justify giving a 10% tip when the server disappeared for home half way though our meal and left us having to find someone else to close up our check.

Lovely little gastro pub. We went for steak night (Weds). Our Rib Eye was perfectly cooked and oh so tender! Good selection of well kept ales too. Our server, Darcey, was a machine, she worked so hard, multi-tasking as she went ensuring all the food was ordered and served in a timely fashion, always alert to the needs of each table and ready to offer condiments, drinks etc. Pretty much running front of house in the restaurant single handed as well as supporting the bar staff. What a super star! I hope her boss knows what an asset she is. We are just passing through but I hope we get chance to return one day.

Can't really comment. Their web site says they serve food today (Saturday) until 2pm but we get to the bar and they say they stopped serving at 1:30.What a waste of time coming here. How hard is it to update a web site? Edit - in response to the hotel's response - we were told the kitchen had closed at 1:30. We were sitting at a table and had to get up and leave.

Really friendly service. And, honestly, probably the best toasties we've ever eaten. The bacon, brie and cranberry was delicious.

Positives:- fast service as the Resturant was quiet, friendly young staff. Negatives:- very poor food, overcooked, dry and tasteless. Cobwebs hanging from lights, broken blinds at the windows, shabby interior. We won’t be returning when in the area.

4 kids and 5 adults for tea. Great food and staff very attentive. Kids and adults alike all enjoyed there meals. Kids meals came out first which was a good call. Service for adults was a little slow but restaurant was full so understandable. Real ale was on tap which is always good.

Lovely garden out back good ale great service, huge food portions (burger comes with fat chips and onions rings and the fish and chips looks like you get the whole fish!) Great staff and landlord and all 6m from the Thames - local shop a few yards if you need any sweeties or cigarettes too!!!!

Had Sunday lunch here. Lovely little village pub. Parking outside on the road. I had the lamb shank which was cooked to perfection. It was quite busy at lunch and had to wait a while for the food but that’s to be expected during Easter hols. Staff friendly and helpful.

Delighted to find the White Hart open for lunch at 2.30pm. I suspect they were a little understaffed but service was very friendly and helpful. Food was all good in the solid and unspectacular way that pub food should be. Nothing pretentious or deconstructed here. Good choice of beers on tap and reasonable prices
