Service was good, unfortunately we waited too long for the dessert Order to be taken ( at one point there were four staff behind the bar) , not scanning the customers.

Really cool old pub. We walked along the old canal for 2 hours through the footpaths and forest to get here. The hike was beautiful. The historic pub was great and food awesome from Lacock Dairy to get here do it!

Great food and faultless service. Worth a 5 star review and will be returning again.

Absolutely loved this place. Not been here in years as we do not live in the area. The staff were excellent, so helpful and so polite, not forgetting efficient. We had the Sunday roast beef and chicken dinners which were so good. Absolutely delicious. And more than enough! It's a good atmosphere as well, we even found the customers super friendly. If you are passing the Pewsham I recommend you indicate right or left and make a pitstop. Loved it.

Over the last few years I've spent more and more time in the beautiful county of Wiltshire. I've come to think of The Pewsham as my local, go to pub. Chris and Harriet have worked tirelessly to turn this pub into the success it is now. If you're looking for a pub with a great atmosphere that has it all, including fantastic food and atmosphere, you should do yourself a favour and spend some time there, it's really that good. Jamie

Amazing place to get a coffee, they have got an outdoor area for children to play

Really didn’t enjoy the food. Went on a Thursday night, the place was empty. Staff were friendly but seemed to not have much training. We ordered the burger and homemade pie with mash. The mash was stiff and lumpy, the pie was fine but dry and had barely any meat in it. The veg tasted like it had been sat in water for ages. The burger patty was fine but the bread bun tasted stale it was so flaky and the chips clearly hadn’t been cooked fresh they were stale, stiff and cold. Overall very disappointing

Regularly come here for the Sunday morning Pitstop meets. Decent coffee and a bacon bap. Always friendly staff and decent service. Little daughter also loves the playground. Slight feedback would be this needs a bit of a spruce up to follow the aesthetic of the rest of the pub.

Perfect for a spot of lunch if you are not on a strict budget. The food lived up to its pricing, I had the smoked fish platter (£16). The bread was amazing, the fish was lovely altogether, very nice food. It is a dog-friendly establishment, so we enjoyed fussing some friendly dogs (not guaranteed of course, but always a bonus). It was quite busy when we arrived and service was not slow, but relaxed, we felt comfortable to stay for a while as we were in no hurry. Staff were delightful, atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming.

It's all ruined the second you walk in and the ginger worker just stands there without a smile or saying a word. 4 times now and she doesn't even say hi can I help, it's just silence until we make an order and even then it's silence. Every other establishment has a smile and a welcome. Love the food ,the garden and the pizza van. We were ignored on this visit for 5 minutes we were waiting. The place was empty aswell. Just a hello how can I help you and a smile.even last year she put a downer on it for us. Will still return as its a great place but will not order food as she will just ignore us

When we arrived my son in law went to the bar to order drinks and was met by a youngish lad who seemed quite abrupt and had little knowledge of beers! Then a woman came through and her attitude was not respectful. We considered leaving but we had my young grandchildren and they were hungry. We sat in the garden and the children loved the play area. The food was served by very nice, polite staff this time. I had a vegan burger which was nice but my chips were cold. Salad looked as if it had come straight out of a bag of leaves from the supermarket. Three pieces of spinach (my favourite) the rest was rocket. Which I don’t like. No tomatoes, onions or cucumber. All in all we won’t be returning. The manager needs to have consistency of the way the staff behave.

Really good pie, chips etc. Service was excellent. Good portion - lovely pub - well worth another (or several) visits.

Just a pitstop enroute but would love to return. Tradtional and attractive old pub, perhaps a former coaching inn, with a large carpak, childrens area, beer garden and beautiful, well maintained gardens. Conservatory and long bar with low beams, flagstone floor, brick features and fireplace. A gastro pub and the food looked good.

I havet bee to the pewsham since it's refurbishment 3 years ago, lovely place and great service.

Lovely place, beautiful outside area, great for kids. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and I even found a new wine that I really enjoyed. Nice big car park and easy to find. Highly recommend

A group breakfast in the conservatory on a Sunday morning. Great coffee and not sure I or a number of my friends would have had the bacon butty we ordered to find it was a ciabata. Petty perhaps but a big difference in the item that had, we known would have made our choice clearer.

A greatly improved Pub, really great atmosphere and friendly service, I had Lunch and tried the Burger, as yummy as it was I would recommend 3 changes to it (just my opinion) Flame grill the burger, frying it or putting it in an oven just kills it, the bap was a little to dry, try not to over toast it, and lastly there was a sort of mustard sauce, it was nice but a little overpowering, maybe serve it on the side for the customers to apply. That said I would recommend a visit, great place 👍

We were a party of 4 and we all chose a Sunday Roast - pork, beef and lamb. The food was lovely, but would have liked more meat - 2 small slices really isn't enough, plus very little gravy. Desserts were lovely. We will be going back to try other things on the menu. Staff were great and the setting was lovely.

Booked a motor home in for one night and had an excellent dinner. We asked for a table that was in a quiet corner and were given it. All food was delicious. The staff were very attentive and pleasant. Daughter was amused by the swearing at a nearby table but they did not upset us at all.

A most enjoyable lunch, a menu catering for all tastes. The pleasant and helpful staff were a delight. The Chef, Fran , even visited our table to ensure one of our party with special dietary requirements was enjoying her food choice. Sensible pricing. An all round pleasurable mealtime for our family.

First time visit for food for me Friday & I was very disappointed with my ploughman’s, 1/2 piece of ham, 1/2 a mini pork pie, 2 small triangles of cheese, a piece of limp lettuce, 4 silverskin onions, a tiny bit of potato salad & chutney, some Cornichons, plus some ‘ rustic ‘ bread. Had to ask for the advertised Apple. The most unappetising Ploughman’s I’ve Ever seen. No tomato or cucumber even just to add colour & texture. It was really dull & uninteresting & not very nice at all. I was told my complaints ‘ would be passed on to the kitchen ‘. The kitchen clearly didn’t care as I was charged the full £13.50 for half a dozen mouthfuls of food. Dreadful. My friends Brie & bacon & cranberry ciabatta with homemade slaw was ok. The coffee & cake after was very nice. I feel at £13.50 the ‘ Ploughman’s ‘ is vastly overpriced based on the quality & quantity ( or lack thereof ) I received yesterday.

Chris and his team have gone above and beyond for our stay and welcomed us with open arms, travelling through and even allowing us to stay. The food has been top class and the hospitality of the staff has been fantastic. I couldn't recommend this pub enough for its location, food, atmosphere and kindness. First visit to The Pewsham for a family lunch. Not quite the relaxed ambience I had expected as we were sat in a conservatory which was very warm until a door to the garden was opened. However on a plus side the food was very good and the service was friendly and informative of the daily specials etc. I would like to have seen a drinks menu but was told there wasn’t one! Would have been helpful to browse a wine list and make my decision rather than feel hurried when they were rattled off to me. All in all a nice lunch!

Went for a coffee with a friend - lovely pub, lovely atmosphere and nice coffee!!

I’ve created an account to review this place as I want the managers to see this to give a little feedback. It’s a difficult decision to rate any higher or lower… I came in with my family a week ago and everything was going very well, we had a conversation with our waitress she was ever so nice, as we ordered our food and drinks we noticed that our waitress was being told to do multiple things at once and we could see she was getting quite stressed but she still carried on being so nice to me and my mum and sisters. Our drinks and food were all correct but I have to say I’ve seen lovely reviews on the food but we didn’t like ours so much we didn’t want to complain as we understand that it was busy but a lot of the food you could easily tell wasn’t cooked properly or cooked a few hours or so before and left to dry out. The manager was really nice I believe he was the manger, but the rest of the staff treated our waitress like rubbish she was doing her best yet we could tell the others didn’t like it we said to her while she was removing are plates that she was doing a great job and we could tell it was very nice to hear for her. I believe this place is a great place but I do feel they could treat there staff with more respect as from our perspective it was like she was being spoke about behind her back. Besides that lovely place lovely customer service. Food was okay but I possibly see myself going again someday.

Staff good, food ok but beer and cider prices extremely expensive. £12.50 for 2.5 pints.

Staff were very happy and helpful but the food was a disappointment. Expecially the kids pizza. It was like a tiny £1 pizza you’d get from Tesco just cut into 4 little triangles. With a side salad instead of vegetable sticks, like stated. I don’t know any child who is going to eat a side salad. Chicken supreme. The portion size was surprisingly small for the price you pay.

Would be so nice if breakfasts were available. Called in again today for coffee and cake with friends. Great place and reasonably priced. Always pretty busy so it must be run pretty well.

Not eaten here , only had some drinks and used the play area but the staff have always been nice and it's very affordable. Would definitely consider eating here in future - the pizza oven outside looks great!

We booked at last minute for a table of nine. They were extremely helpful and attentive. The young lad who looked after us was knowledgeable and polite. The food was lovely especially the mussels they were incredible!!! Would highly recommend

We had a meal here for my wife's birthday. The staff were very attentive and the food was excellent. They even went out of their way to invent a new off-menu dessert for us based on a joke shared with our waitress that was delicious despite being done on the fly! All in all a pleasant evening with great food, can't ask for more than that! Good range of vegan options too.

Part of a Retirement Party. Chose cheesy chips. Was the last to receive my order (forgotten) - server did apologise for delay. It arrived in small bowl, chips were dried out and cheese stringy from having one piece of cheese slapped on top of chips and had been put under the grill. I couldn’t eat them. £5 charged which should have been waived as the server- seeing I had left most of them- enquired if everything was ok, I informed him of issue with the food. Next up cheesecake which I thought was to be lemon cheesecake but ended up being a biscuit base with chocolate and peppermint mousse on top. I couldn’t taste chocolate as the peppermint was too strong. It was horrible and in my opinion was not a traditional cheesecake. £7 charged I definitely will not be returning. Unfortunately for medical reasons I am unable to eat a full meal but wanted to attend my friend’s retirement get together. Also enquiring what decade!! How dare you!! Our steak was overcooked. My wife and I could not eat it. However, the manager came over and asked if everything OK so we showed her. She took them both away and, within a short time, had the meals precooked completely, She also reduced the bill amount. The food is usually very good as where the replacement meals thank you all for your service and for another lovely night out at your establishment 5 stars for the replacement meals 😀 😊

Went to The Pewsham for an inpromptu lunch with my wife to celebrate her new job + havent had a chance to get out without the kids since Christmas. Lovely down to earth place with a split personality, coming in from the side initially feels like a quiet garden cafe with selection of hot/cold drinks, snack and cakes, carry on walking through and you find a very traditional English pub and bar, where the staff were very warm and welcoming. We were in early so had our choice of seating options, proceeded to have a lovely mains and desert lunch (recommend the pie of the day and gingerbread options). Whole meal was delicious and reasonably priced, looking forward to coming back with the kids and trying the garden pizza. Thoroughly recommend checking this place out.

First visit to The Pewsham as needed a 'dog friendly' place. Service was fast and friendly by very attentitive server. Food was excellent and pork belly tasty and well cooked. Rice pudding made with clotted cream and berries is to die for! Will definitely be calling again, thank you.

Great decision to go here 👍🏼.. great atmosphere with lights and background music and staff. Great tea in the teapot then a superb meal. The Burger was really really good with nice chips and a tasty salad. Definitely going to be back. Thank you.

We had a 100th Birthday celebration party for 40 people in 'The Barn' function room. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful in organising the event, and setting up the room on the morning of the event. The room looked great, was set out perfectly with lovely crockery and cutlery, the buffet lunch was excellent and the staff very professional and helpful. Really recommend 'The Pewsham' for an event of this type.

We were a group of 8 and had Sunday lunch in the conservatory. It was light and very pleasant in there. The lamb was so tender and EVERYONE enjoyed their meal

An enticing, chilled out atmosphere with light music in the background and relaxed seating. Ideal for food but also as a spot to catch up with friends and enjoy a high quality coffee (without the a high mark up).

I was a regular before the lysley become the Pewsham. the new pub is lovely very fresh, & clean with a friendly atmosphere & staff as well I haven't eaten at the Pewsham yet but i am sure I won't be disappointed . give it a go .

This is the second time that we’ve met friends here for lunch. On both occasions, we have all been very pleased with the meals we ordered. Two of the ladies asked for their eggs to be poached instead of fried and l asked for a change to an item on my fish plate. These requests were implemented without any fuss. Staff are helpful, friendly and polite, we will certainly return.

We went to celebrate our Anniversary this evening, and had a lovely evening. The staff were attentive, service was excellent and the meal was absolutely delicious. I got cold half way through the meal, and the owner was excellent and suggested we moved to the snug were is was warmer, very accommodating, loved the snug and will ask to be sat there next time when booking. We would highly recommend this restaurant with no hesitation. Excellent in all areas.

Unfortunately only full fat milk ot busy with three staff and supermarket nearby cup and saucer did not match and atmosphere was less than welcoming unless a regular perhaps. Could not recommend

A group of 14 of us including 1 child plus a baby came here for a pre baby meal. Harriet was easy to communicate with via email beforehand and in person on the day. Pre ordering was straightforward. Thank you for being so flexible 🙂 I would highly recommend the Pewsham for a cosy or group meal. The conservatory is a lovely space and the Pewsham has an outdoor play area, plenty of parking, disabled toilet, baby change and friendly staff. I had the beef burger followed by fruit crumble which was tasty. The vegetarian options were creative and also tasty (vegetable tagine and mushroom and Guinness pie). Wanted to share our super experience at The Pewsham. We were a very large group - they made things as easy as possible and everything ran smoothly. They had reserved us a table in a side room, which was ideal so as to not disturb others in the restaurant. We ordered our meals ahead of time and they delivered them to the table by name (no need to remember what you ordered a week ago!) The food was super and the customer service was excellent. Will definitely return.

Good starter (mussels) but disappointing mains. Ordered the chicken supreme with red pepper & cream cheese sauce which the waitress said came with hassle back potatoes. When it arrived the chicken was really dry & overcooked & came with new potatoes clearly not hassle back potatoes. Very disappointed for a price of £22.95

Brilliant pub to spend the evening, everyone was so very friendly and the staff couldn’t do enough to help. Can’t wait to go back.

Lunch and service was great but the table we were seated at didn't allow enough space for through traffic and I was jostled many times by both staff and diners, which rather took the edge off it for me. We moved as close to the wall as possible but the issue was still present, not sure what the fix is but it's gonna deter me from regular visits

My friends and I had the most amazing night at the Pewsham. Steak and ale pie was out of this world. And what topped the night was the 80s disco going on in the function room which we joined in. Such a wonderful impromptu evening with friends will be back again very soon. Thank you so much for the staff excellent service.

Great little pub, amazing blue sirloin steak followed by a 70’s, 80’s and 90’s night in the barn next door. Lovely hospitality and the ginger guy was charming 😊

Good to see this place is still up to a very good standard, and back to attracting customers, we stopped here for the first time for lunch since it had new owners . Good quality food, excellent service, very welcoming interior and exterior well kept which says a lot when a place is well presented. I would certainly recommend going here, it also has a good menu choice. This place also has a nice back garden and lots of parking.

My mushroom tagliatelle was GORGEOUS and I was thinking about it for the rest of the day! Nice looking homely pub. I hope yo go back in the summer for the outside pizzas. Little cafe there too, lots going on. Conveniently situation with loads of parking

Had a wonderful New Year's Eve here. The food was fab, the atmosphere was amazing, the staff are the best. This was my first time at this lovely pub and I cannot wait to go back!!! Thank you so much for a memorable celebration 🎉

We had a fantastic New Year at The Pewsham. We had a 3 course meal every course was great could not fault the service, waitress and guys that waited our table. We took our motorhome and stayed the night which was nice and quite after really good entertainment which kept us singing all evening. We travelled from Portishead as we had a meal in the summer which was outstanding and will be back cannot recommend enough how great the place is just wish it was nearer. Keep up the good work Chris and wife.

Well what can we say so friendly the lady serving us was just amazing with brown long curly hair what an asset xx the food was on point we had 3 courses so tasty x the atmosphere the place it was just wonderful we will be back very soon xx

Definitely will return here. Went for lunch during festive season and so it was busy but staff were welcoming and found us a table as we had not booked. Food was good pub grub and had a cake too from the area they use as a cafe. Very reasonably priced - lunch for 2 came to £26 with drinks. Good walk close by taking you to the canal and into Lacock so will be returning to do that as told they are dog friendly.

We were in a party of 16 a few days ago. We thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas atmosphere. In spite of the pub being very busy the service was excellent - couldn’t fault the food in any way and we most certainly will be returning.

Just great food and wonderful service

Having lived nearby when it was still called the lysley, for a number of years we moved away. Having visited it as a coffee house a number of times and found it very good. On this visit back to Wiltshire we decided to book for lunch with family. Unfortunately a little later than we wanted but they booked us in. We had 5 meals all very good and worth the money, the waitress was friendly and professional, we had drinks and a very lovely apple crumble. All round a very nice good pub that isn't trying to be something it isn't. Well presented meals and properly

We had a Christmas menu dinner here last week for 16 of us. We thought for the price it would be really nice. How wrong can you be? Firstly there seemed to be a sad lack of Christmas atmosphere .. Well I had pate to start and that was ok. Followed by the duck with broccoli and roast potatoes as did my wife, although she had sprouts. This proved to be an awful choice. The Duck was almost impossible to cut and was totally inedible. The broccoli was tough beyond belief, also very inedible. The roast potatoes were just about edible although very hard and difficult to attack. I then had a sorbet and that was ok, but not very special. I told the waiter about our meals and asked him to report it to the management. We never got an apology or even an acknowledgment. All in all, about the worst Christmas meal we’ve ever had. No wonder they made us pay upfront! Needless to say, we cannot recommend this venue

After moving near the Pewsham and driving past it daily, me and my partner visited for dinner. We ordered the butternut squash and chilli soup and the mushroom toasts. They were both delicious. For mains, we ordered the steak and burger. The burger was delicious and the steak was good. I ordered the steak medium rare, this then came as medium well. Unfortunately, with both meals, the chips were stone cold. However, we did order onion rings which were very hot and oily, these seemed like they had just came out the fryers. We would definitely visit the Pewsham again for dinner (outside Christmas party season) as well as the cafe/bar.

I've visited 4 times now. Two lunches, an evening celebration (with food) and attending a Fleetwood Mac tribute band. Each visit has been really impressive. The food has always been spot on for my friends and myself. Various meals- each being top notch. The service always attentive but not over the top. Good selection of drinks including real ales. The No 55 Bus stops outside and connects Chippenham to Swindon rail stations. It means no reliance on the car and I can have a tipple. Really nice period environment. Really good.

We had a lovely family dinner for eight. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Main courses arrived about 20 minutes after we ordered, excellent experience overall. Definitely going there again.

We had a booking for 13 at 3pm who had preordered. I thought this would be the tail end of lunchtime service. The restaurant was in full flow with many customers. The starters eventually arrived, I had the pate which was enjoyable. Itc then took an age for the mains to arrive around 4pm. Itc was now late for lunch and we were hungry! My roast was accompanied by a good selection of vegetables, but the slice of beef was minimal. As it was tough, that was probably just as well. The other roast meats in the party seemed to be appreciated more. As trains had to be caught, some of the party left without desert. My crumble was more enjoyable for the hazelnuts in the topping mixture. The staff were lovely when they served us.

Visited the Pewsham for Sunday lunch, I had th lamb and my partner the beef, flowed by gingerbread dessert and sticky toffee pudding both homemade. The portions were generous and quality excellent. Will be taking rest of my family soon. Thank you for a lovely meal and great service.

The building and staff are lovely. Service and atmosphere are great. Unfortunately let down by very poor quality food. Burnt starters, very little flavour overall just very underwhelming.

A truly wonderful pub to go for dinner. The service is fantastic, the owners are always present and happy to chat! The food is wonderful. We have eaten and popped for drinks on numerous occasions since being taken over and re named The Pewsham and have never had an issue. We are both regulars now to The Pewsham and will continue to be so. Highly recommended for coffee, food and drinks!
