Hillside Cafe in Wiltshire

We are The Breakfast Club from Longwell Green area Bristol. We visit a different Cafe each Monday. This is my personal review. The Breakfast was plenty full of good quality and great value for money. The venue whilst predominantly a Transport Cafe if also suitable for families and any visitor. Clean friendly and a good stop on a journey. Highly Recommended.

Good price breakfast old school type of cafe great.

Great food .. great choice .. great value . Roast dinners are amazing..home made steak and kidney pie to die for ! Always clean and staff always welcoming . Well worth a visit

We stop there every time we take this route when leaving the ferry to go to Bath.

One of the best most popular cafes , well situated on the A36 not far from Warminster , Food both hearty breakfasts for truckers as well as delicious meals with vegetables, and succulent sweets, excellent value, freshly cooked and well presented, The staff friendly and helpful, Ample parking in a Large car park and truck park

I’ve been using this venue on a regular basis, journeying from West Sussex to visit my poorly Brother in Frome. It’s an amazing place, wonderful in fact. Great food and the staff are so friendly, almost family. I highly recommend it. Nothing is too much trouble, ask, and you get. The food is excellent and the prices?…..Unbelievable, second to non!

One of only a few traditionally run cafe's..great for trucks to park and great food and service..

My wife and I had breakfast each and a hot drink, service very good. The food was very good, not long to wait. Well worth a visit.

Good home cooked food with great service

Went in at 2.45 when they close at 3 still cooked me up a full English with a smile. Tasted great will be returning for sure. Convenient for truckers

First visit in a very long time but well worth the wait. Hillside never disappoints. Lovely breakfast. Great value for money. Shame that they are not open at the weekend but understandable with their early start each weekday.

We visited this place on our way to Cornwall as it is only a 3 minute detour from the A303 and came highly recommended. The food was absolutely top notch and as a fussy eater they were happy to let me substitute menu items for ones which suited me. Literally could not fault this place, will definitely be back the next time we are passing

Genuinely lovely people in a proper old school transport cafe. Loads of room to park car / truck / motorbike. Inside is warm and welcoming. Toilets are sparkling. Staff are very genuine and friendly and the food is spot on. Fried slice is standard as are two sausages in the breakfast - no skimflation here! Vegan options available and coffee is plentiful and good. Good outside seating for when the weather is better with great views across the valley.

Decent good value traditional roadside cafe catering for everyone. Six of us came here for a business breakfast meeting. Everyone was happy, food and drinks were too quality, the place was very clean including the toilets and everyone was happy on concluding. What more can you ask?

Visited with a friend after being recommended by another friend.. didn’t disappoint I had a vegetarian breakfast and it was lovely - well cooked and plenty of it. My friend had a carb free one and just as good. Excellent value and friendly staff as well. Driven by for years and 1st time we went in and so glad we did,

Great little roadside cafe, reasonably priced,good food.

Was dubious about stopping here but it was great. Not very many tables so you may have to do a take away and sit in your car. In the summer there are outside tables so plenty of tables then. Dietary requirements met in full. Overall, very impressed.

What a great cafe and good value

A good breakfast and a friendly server who checked my fussy request for perfect light cooked bacon was met. You cannot argue with that for £6.50.

Lovely service, brilliant food every time 👌

We are retired hauliers and our drivers used this cafe regularly. We called in for breakfast in our motorhome and were delighted to find it is still as welcoming and good value as ever. Great service and a fine breakfast. So many of the old transport cafes have now closed so it is great to see Hillside survive and thrive.

Lovely taisty food served nice and hot and quit quickly. Stafe lovely and friendly and helpful. Price is just right for today's pace of life Always nice and clean Plenty of parking spaces .

Use this place at least twice a week always welcoming, friendly staff. Great place to take a break from driving. Trucks and caravans welcome.

What a brilliant spur of the moment decision. Great quality food for great prices. Homemade food and fresh ingredients. Friendly local people who clearly enjoy what they do. I was particularly impressed with the freshness of the salad I'd been craving. No pre-cut salad, it was all freshly prepared and you could taste it. Hubby had a breakfast and enjoyed every bite. Well worth a visit. Also clean and hygienic which makes a huge impact.

Stopped in shortly before closing time as route back was congested, ordered ham/cheese salad sandwich and it was very nice, rest of menu looks decent and decent prices, had I been earlier I would have ordered a hot meal. Requested to park overnight in the truck park and as long as no refrigerated trailer running it was ok & no charge. Great place a little off the A303 and well worth a visit.

First visit but wow, beautiful breakfast good quality produce quick service at very reasonable prices. The menu was extensive and staff very friendly. Would go out of my way to return.

Traditional style truckstop Cafe good food good prices but can get busy around 1pm. Cold and hot food.

Good food and drink at a reasonable price. Tables regularly cleared and cleaned.

Came here once as a kid 30 years ago, it hasn't changed, it's still the comfortable trucker stop it was then. Food is banging and great value.

Stopped off here on our way to Center Parcs from Surrey, and on our return journey as well, to have a late breakfast. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of it and great value, would recommend it to anyone passing through. So good food, sensible prices, and polite friendly staff. The icing on the cake was a lovely large slice of bread pudding to take away.

On our way from West Sussex to Somerset for a midweek break for our wedding anniversary (had quite a few) stopped for breakfast and it was perfect. Good food, sensible prices, polite friendly staff. Will put on any future journeys on A36

Very nice lorry cafe 6or7am start close at3pm really nice breakfast and great tea and coffee just what you need before work to keep you going.

Part baked baguettes are meant to be cooked in the oven. They served it out the packaging and cemented with a layer or margarine 🤢. Old style 1980’s cafe. Clean facilities and toilets where well presented. Staff friendly.

Had bacon sausage and egg baguette,the baguette was quite pale and soft so but otherwise a nice fresh breakfast

This place is absolutely fantastic. The service was great with really friendly staff. The food was absolutely perfect with good portion size. If your driving past this is well worth a stop to eat from cooked breakfast, which is what I had, to burgers and more. Also serve hot and cold drinks and some cakes/sweets. Carpark is good size and toilets on site.

Feels like you're being done a favour by being allowed to eat there. Food is fine, but service unfriendly. Won't be back

Just passing,called in for a snack, food that was being served, looked very good, our sausage & bacon snack excellent, would recommend, 100%.

We now stop here each time we travel south. . Bread and butter pudding is to die for . . Massive portion and very good on the old wallet.

Very nice. Its so good to see a truckers cafe still open. All we get now is burger vans, mostly greasy & over priced. Hillside is clearly run by people that actually care about customers, rather than how much profit they can make out of us. Keep it going as long as you can please. You are essential to us truckers.

Stopped here twice in the early morning, the food was good and honest you can't ask more than from a good old fashioned roadside cafe. Friendly staff and nice food

Great value good food. Avoid the big overpriced service stations and come here! £11 for two meals chips and chocolate bar. It would be double this at the big corporate places.

Fabulous food and customer service.

Been using Hillside for years and never had a bad meal. The breakfast is outstanding and I stop if I’m passing in the truck or out with my family.

Disappointed with quality of bacon and buns. Chips looked good though.

Stopped off here on our way to Bath to have a late breakfast. Breakfast was well good and great value, would recommend to anyone passing through. Plus my wife commented on how clean it is there.

Lots of parking. Nice clean cafe and toilets. Friendly staff. Very efficient service. Great breakfast with coffee and bread and butter included, all at very reasonable prices. Will be back again when in the area.

Absolutely brilliant. Had lamb dinner on way up to London then lamb dinner on way back to Devon. Faultless food. Staff lovely too. Seriously don’t miss.

I've been coming here on and off for over 25 years and the consistency and quality has never changed throughout. I was a frequent visitor in the 90s and 2000s until I left the UK. I kept coming back every time I passed through and one thing never changed. The fantastic food and friendly, professional quality offered by Hillside Cafe. I visited in June 2022 and everything was just as it was except they now offer some 'healthier' menu options which looks fantastic and I'll try next time. They really do cater to all tastes. My traditional breakfast was great. Thick cut bacon, fried slice to die for, eggs, beans and sausage. I've eaten fry ups all over the UK and this is one of the best. Bravo and thanks for all the years of a reliable and friendly pit stop East to West. Also bloody good value as seen by the menu which is clearly available on every table and posted on the wall!

Visited on way home from a break away. The tastiest meal we had the entire trip. All 6 of us who ordered food thoroughly enjoyed what we had. The vegetarian breakfast was lush

A surprise stop, which proved to be an exceedingly good experience. Basic food done superbly and cost effective prices. I’d fully recommend.

Never had a bad meal from Hillside Cafe. The staff are always nice, the food is amazing and it's great value for money. A nice clean Cafe, the loos were spotless. This time we were a bit naughty and had a sausage breakfast with fried bread ! AMAZING

I have stopped at this place on numerous occasions over the years, both in my car and as a lorry driver. It's just situated by the A36 near Warminster. It's really bright clean and peaceful inside, service is generally quick. You can have roast dinners, the usual chip meals, all day breakfasts and various sandwiches. Whatever you choose I'm sure you wont be disappointed. Staff are excellent as well. I cant praise it enough, but it's a good place to stop, relax and have break if you have been travelling all day.

Not many places like this now. Very traditional British " Caff". All the favourites with plenty of room for cars and lorries. This is the place Japanese and Americans should visit. So British.

I stopped by here last Friday for a breakfast. Friendly staff, very efficient. Food cooked to order and cooked how you asked for, as I only eat well done bacon and it was well done but not burnt. It was perfect. Eggs perfect what more can I say apart from. Table service is great and you do not seem to wait long for your order all in all amazing. Keep up the good work Hillside I will be recommending you to everyone I know and I will 100% be back soon.

We live locally but had never visited before. Decided to go there for lunch before we set off on a long journey and we weren’t disappointed. Extensive menu and food was cooked perfectly with the added bonus that they will make changes if requested. I have only one complaint - they aren’t open weekends when I could do with a hearty breakfast and I don’t have to go to work! But we’ll still visit whenever we get the chance.
