Had dinner with family here at the weekend. Internally the pub/restaurant is very nice warm and welcoming. Menu looks good and prices are fine if the quality of food matches the price.Unfortunately we did not find that to be the case. Its certainly not Michelin standard in my view. Portion sizes particularly starters and desserts are small. Two of my party wanted to try the ice creams for dessert.....a scoop is £3 which is pretty average but the scoop was not much more than teaspoon sizes, smallest we have ever seen. The mains were ok but nothing very special. Overall it was nice and thats being kind. Would we go back.....no.

A superb old inn, where the food is centre stage. The ingredient quality is high, and the actual skill in the kitchen is first class. This isn’t your normal pub fare, but cooking as good as any pub setting in the British isles. The flavours are deep and robust, with surprisingly delicacy and intricacy of technique If Rob Alcock was cooking in London he’d have a newspaper column, a cook book and probably a TV show This is 1 star Michelin territory

I have scored this as average just because the menu was so limited where children are concerned and the food wasn’t as impressive as the decor and staff. It’s still a lovely pub and I’d recommend you visit. The staff were very kind, friendly and attentive. The decor and detail and plants are very nice. We felt very comfortable. There is no menu for children, smaller portions of the main menu are available. The battered fish and chips with mushy peas was nice. The pie with seasonal greens (a small portion of cabbage) and a spoon of smooth mash was very bitter and rich in flavour. Our child had the chicken burger with fries, the fries were good, the burger was a brioche bun and the chicken burger looked like it was a chicken breast covered in a thick, dark sticky something…not overly appealing nor appetising.

My granddaughter and I had lunch here on a Saturday lunchtime. We had booked a table for a 12.30 lunch but were surprised how empty it was when it features in the Michelin Guide. More customers were arriving as we left. She suffers from dairy intolerance while my appetite has diminished over recent years but her battered fish was well above the normal pub fare while my warm Scotch eggs followed by the ham hock and rabbit terrine were superb. The service was attentive without intrusive. The main course prices were at Michelin levels but our smaller dishes were very good value for money. We will be back.

The Longs Arms is an outstanding Michelin-star pub in a beautiful, quaint village. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday - he is vegan and the chef was amazing is preparing vegan options when we let them know in advance, which were so delicious and made us feel so welcome. The pub itself is beautiful and rustic with a fire burner. We highly recommend the drive over for a meal if you are staying in the Cotswolds, Bath or Wiltshire area - you will not be disappointed! We stayed at the adjoining Airbnb, The Piggery, which we also highly recommend!

Me and the boys popped in Sunday after hearing good things about rob (the chef/alien hunter) roast dinners. And boy are we glad we did. The food was incredible. But even better was the service from the barman Ben (Ben probably isn’t his real name as he looks like a Turk) was super happy and friendly and made us feel really welcome straight away actually probably one of the happiest men I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. The waiter (AKA captain panic) seemed on edge and sweaty and and a funny odour lingered around his crotch area but he over ruled this with his brilliant and outrageously camp personality. Gotta love a gay even with a smelly gooch.

Four of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. Our first reaction to the menu was how limited it was. There were four mains one of which was vegetarian and the choice was extremely poor. No steaks on the menu.

You went here to celebrate my birthday with our two children aged 12 and 15 years old. The atmosphere in the pub is great. The waitress was amazing very friendly and excellent service. The menu is really expensive and quite limited especially for children . There is no children’s menu. I had the feather blade steak for maincourse which I really found odd tasting and I usually adore steak. My husband had a fish risotto dish. Both were £25 each. My elder daughter had a burger for £15 which was delicious. My son also wanted the steak and we asked for a kids portion for a 12-year-old. They bought a small steak with some chips on the side which he had asked for and they charge us £16. We ordered two desserts which were delicious but completely tiny and expensive !

The meals I had were fantastic (we only settled for starters due to the very slow service) unfortunately the movement from the FOH team was not of the same calibre. The waitresses lacked a certain charisma which you'd often associate with good food. Infact they spent more time following each other around avoiding eye contact rather than looking after guests. The meals were plonked on to the table, nothing said. Simple check backs weren't made, nobody asked if we'd like any more drinks or how our food was. We had to go to bar to order drinks to start, to ask for menus and for our order to eventually be taken... Definitely very little attention given to table service and more focus on their bar and there was no obvious management. In total it took 2 hours to eventually receive our starters.. Very disappointing. Nonetheless I shall visit again and hope that my experience was just a "one off"! Perhaps they were understaffed. I think it'd be constructive to suggest that the waitresses aren't afraid to admit there's delays to their guests- If people are aware it's a less frustrating experience.

Yet again , the standard of cooking at the longs arms and service were impeccable . It's no wonder they have made it into the top 50 pubs in Great Britain , we will be back in January to find out what number. Merry Xmas and thank you to all the staff for many wonderful visits in 2013.

You will not be disappointed at this wonderful pub. You certainly get what you pay for . QUALITY Not forgetting the fabulous service and friendly and attentive staff . Definately our favourite pub in the area.we havnt been on tripadvisor long but we have eaten in some of the country's top restaurants . This is certainly up there with the best. A must try.

After having starter of long's cured smoked salmon with pickled cucumber, mains of pork loin and dessert of chocolate brownie I have to say this place really is on par with the priory in Bath which really is saying something! They have done it slightly differently as those dishes are time consuming to prepare but have tailored it to a pub rather than a very expensive restaurant but What a fantastic place. Obviously for this sort of food you pay a bit more but it's totally worth it. Would recommend it!

Won’t be back - coffee ok but woeful miserable staff. A smile, a bit of engagement, even eye contact makes a difference - you want to feel welcome rather than an intruder. Surely when money is tight places realise they might have to go that bit extra to encourage people to go back.

Website showed great promise. Kerbside appeal good, car parking good, service very good ( very helpful and friendly). Strange layout inside as its old building, dining room has no bar. Garden not used to its full potential, only very old tired play equipment for children. Food reasonable, 2 out of 3 meals okay. Third meal of chicken disappointing, either poor quality meat or overcooked or possibly both !!!!! Empty on a nice sunny lunchtime !!! Sorry but would not rush back.
