So the location is great- lovely village, lovely pub. The vegetarian option (small size main) consists of 2 small pieces of aubergine in an overly sweet, bright orange sauce with a tiny green salad with no dressing. At £15.95! The mushroom soup was nice with lots of bread but no butter. The affogato was nice Cornish ice-cream (why not Devon ice-cream??) and a truly awful coffee. Have a beer and eat elsewhere.

Popped in for lunch on Easter Friday and lucky to get a table. Although it was really busy the service was excellent and very friendly. We had the bacon paninis which were excellent value and really tasty. Will definitely be back when in Watchet again.

Dropped in after a long drive to the area. Found a table , theres plenty of them, ordered at the bar and job done. Good arrived swiftly and was very tasty. The pizza is well loaded with toppings. Lovely, hassle free and we were stuffed. Will go back again to try the other burgers.

This is not a review of the ice cream parlour which was closed (probably due to Covid-19). The same people run a trio of cottages to let, Oak, Ash and Sycamore. I stayed in Oak with my family bubble and we had a lovely time. Great facilities and close to some fantastic Exmoor walks, so lovely to go somewhere different after lockdown that was safe. Very clean and well looked after, nice wood-burner for those chilly April evenings. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, cooker, etc. all you could wish for.

Quirky decor suits this inn down to the ground. Staff are helpful and friendly. Fantastic pub food and great atmosphere. Rooms are nicely appointed, clean and recently decorated. Lots of steps/ stairs so may not suit if less mobile. Dog friendly (in bar and allowed to stay in some rooms). The 'Secret' garden is a great find of a pub garden.

Booked for Saturday lunch - advised there would be a reduced menu but have some 'Chinese' style dishes on too. Place has a large carpark but slightly hard to find entrance as 'opposite' the pub. Pub was full and quite buzzing with many locals. Friendly service - table was reserved and you order at bar. Ordered two of the Chinese specials and one 'pie'. The specials were really tasty but portions not quite enough - my son ordered a portion of cheesy chips as extra - this was very generous with lots of cheese! The pie is served in a dish with a separate crust done - chips were ok but garnish was a bit poor. The beef and ale pie filling was really tasty and a good portion. Pudding choices are fairly standard pub type food - but all good!

We are in the area on holiday and thought we’d try China Garden. We loved it and would highly recommend. The staff were so friendly and the collection area was very clean. We had mushroom curry, crispy shredded chicken with carrot and chilli and a couple of sides. Everything was nice and hot, the chicken was very crispy (and the spring rolls) and the flavours were delicious. We would definitely use again. Thank you ⭐️

The food is delicious not had a bad meal during the entire stay. Staff are really helpful. Rooms are generously sized too.
