Not the best Chinese we've ever had! Very disappointing in fact. We were staying at the local campsite and walked to pick up a takeaway. They took our order efficiently and food came out quite quickly. Other half said sweet and sour chicken had no taste at all. I had mushroom satay, plenty of mushrooms and large portion but again no taste at all. Would not use again or recommend to any of our camping friends.

Had a truly wonderful meal I had two visitors who said it was one of the best Chinese they had had especially the large spring rolls Thank you You made our evening We'll be back 😁😁

One of the best Chinese takeaways I've had. Stopped by while on a short break in the area. Really tasty food, with a definite spice kick. Would be dangerous if this was local to me! How its not 5/5 I don't know. Only downside is that its cash only. Will be coming back! Thank you for a lovely meal, China Garden.

Been several times now food excellent

Had a take out for four people. Portion size is good Flavour of dishes were ok but a bit too salty ( personal preference) Chow mein was a bit "claggy" vegetables were soggy. Sweet and sour sauce unfortunately it was a very artificial tasting sauce!!

Fantastic food creative and different from usual Chinese. Big portions especially the meat certainly packed it in the larger containers. Cannot recommend this take away enough

Can't give No Stars or I would have.... What has happened to this place. Used to be really good but it has gone down hill over the past few months. The last two times we have ordered it has been shocking and it all went in the bin, thought the first bad meal was a one off so decided to try again a couple of weeks later...shouldn't have risked it as again it all went in the bin, a total waste of over £35. Beef in black Bean Sause really tough and chewy, Special Chow Mein was tasteless with soggy noodles and no meat, Chicken Chinese style was disgusting, slimy slithers of god only knows what swimming in some sort or liquid and never have I seen Special Fried Rice a dark brown color and smelt awful, I should have taken it all back and asked for a refund.......certainly wont be ordering from China Garden again.

Quite possibly the worst takeaway I have ever had. Mixed starter dried out and hard and no satay sauce for chicken. Beef in black bean sauce tasteless and gloopy. Chicken chow main again tasteless not smoky as it normally is. Prawns in finer and spring onion. Rubbery and full on finer. Very disappointing

Really yummy, fresh food. Generous portions and friendly staff. The food definitely could be a bit more spicy but I'm assuming they tone it down for locals. Singapore fried rice, satay chicken skewers and the ribs are delicious.

One of the best Chinese meals we’ve had in ages both in taste and portions. Well worth the hour wait after the phone order was placed on a very busy Saturday night. Superb taste, well priced, BIG portions and kind service. Recommended if you’re visiting Minehead as we were. Definitely going back again.

First time trying this Chinese Takeaway and have to say, we were really disappointed. The King Prawn Curry was ‘okay’ and the Chicken in Oyster Sauce was bland to say the least. Precooked chicken (picked off a carcass?) with mainly onions, bean shoots and water chestnuts and 2 or 3 pieces of carrots, 2 bits of baby corn, and hardly any sauce. The main disappointment was the fried rice. It really spoilt the meal. Congealed brown, greasy rice, compressed into the plastic containers they use these days (so they can microwave I guess?). It was a solid greasy brick! Virtually no egg in it and no peas. Horrible! We would not have food from here again; very poor.

On holiday nearby we were pleased to discover China Garden was open on a Sunday evening. From the initial phone call to order, everything was top quality. The food was ready when we arrived to pick it up and we were greeted with a smile and served quickly. Back at our cottage we found all the food items (a meal for two) were piping hot and looked superb. The portions were very generous and all tasted delicious. Most enjoyable and highly recommended. Cracking soup starters,a meal in its own, Worth a visit,would try again when down this way,when waiting you hear a local putting a £90 order in you know it's going to be good. Only down was according to the wife the curry could have had more flavour..trust a woman to moan lol. Very clean ,cooked fresh.give it a go

Needed to find something quick and easy to serve up and this was all we could find open in the area. They were lovely and dealt with our order very quick and it was delicious.

The young lady at the counter was particularly well organised considering how busy the little shop is. The food was very tasty and well made. I truly recommend popping out to Alcombe for food if you are staying locally because this Chinese and the tandoori round the corner are both very very good.

Great food, amazing salt and chilli chicken!

I phoned to place our order. The lady was answered the phone was lovely, so friendly. We collected the food. Beef curry with Rice for me and my partner. The meal was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. The Onions in the curry sauce were crunchy, the Beef so tender and fluffy white Rice to finish it off. 10/10 All round. You won't be disappointed.

Popped in here for a last night treat during our stay in minehead. One thing to be aware of is that they take cash only, so be prepared before you go. Staff were very welcoming, took order quickly, reading back for confirmation and realistic prep time given on order. You can see they guys in the back taking the order and starting to cook everything fresh. Order completed on time and after a short drive and a few minutes walk back, all the food was still hot. All of the food was amazing and very generous portions. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Despite a poor start with a missing item from our order, the food and resolve of the order error was amazing, fantastic food, probably the best I’ve had away from home.

Normally love this chinese, however ... last night my partner wanted to enjoy this chinese for his Birthday and has ended up with food poisoning ruining most of what we had planned, such a shame.

Love this Chinese takeaway. Decor is very basic, but who cares you don't sit in to eat. The food is always top notch. Piping hot made to order, the best in minehead. Staff very friendly.

Ok food bit disappointing egg fried rice couldnt see more tjan two bits curry sauce bland not the usual chinese standard. Chow mein also bland and tasteless. Sorry but ill go to the indian next time

Outstanding, we had a set meal for 3, was plenty of food, hot, perfectly cooked and delicious. I am always apprehensive about using takeaways that we don’t know but this one was perfect for our family holiday and I would highly recommend.

Takeaway in a place with no many alternatives, that's why it was so busy. the portions were not as big as we expected, but the food was acceptable. The satay prawns were not satay, I could not describe the sauce, yet the best dish from our selection. Not hot as indicated in the menu either, Recommend rice and not noodles. Avoid lemon chicken.

On holiday 2 years ago had a terrific meal from the china garden, on our return to Porlock for another holiday last week we were pleased to see it was still operating and ordered another meal from them, as before it was hot,tasty, and the staff were pleasant. we were not disappointed and I would recommend this take away to any one who is visiting Minehead

This has been our local for 2 years maybe now. They don't deliver or take card in store or online. (Shame) cash only However, it's a lovely take away and better than some I have been too including the golden fry in Taunton. The team are lovely especially the young girl on the front desk. She remembers our order and is super friendly The man who also serves seems stressed alot but he's nice and friendly. They treat my 6 year old well. We only have 5 chicken balls/curry sauce and fried rice so we don't spend alot and they still treat us well. The food is always nice 👌 good food and good people

I have had a take away every Saturday for some time I have always found the staff polite and helpful The food is tasty and served piping hot I would not go back there if the food was not first class I order by phone and it has always been ready for me

Decided on a takeout one evening on holiday as we were staying at Butlins and under their restrictions as self catering we couldn't get booked in any restaurants on site the whole holiday !! After a drive around the area we spotted china garden and phoned a collection order in. Starters, set meal B and some extras to pad it out for a family of 4 . The portions were very good. And delicious. Fresh, hot , ready spot on collection time given. The take away shop itself was spotless 5 star. And nicer than our local at home very envious of the minehead locals !! Average costs . Highly recommended. Many thanks.

Got a take away and whilst waiting for it to be cooked approx 15 people came in to collect their order, was busy and when got home and ate food we could see why. Tasty...well cooked and great portions

This is the worst chinese I've ever had. Ribs had to chew bones to get meat off, bbq sauce was just thick gulp soy sauce. Chicken fried rice is plain no flavour. Sweet sour sauce was just like strawberry jelly taste. Curry sauce disgusting.

Great Chinese take away, this is the second time we have gotten a meal from here when we are near Minehead. We just could not get their chicken wings out of our mind! Service very friendly and all the dishes are yummy!

Thought we would try China Garden while on holiday in Minehead. Got to be one of the best chinese meals we have ever had. 100% satisfied, great food and couldn't be happier with the standard of our food. Well done China Garden 10 out of 10 👍.

Don't go there. It was gruesome, quiet the worst Chinese takeaway we have had in years. Worst dish sweet and sour chicken hong kong style.

Not bad but not as good as it used to be

Just had a stunning takeaway from here, best satay sauce I have ever tasted. The food was ready on time and the girl serving was very friendly and efficient- keep up the good work. Would definitely recommend and I don’t usually like Chinese food, would be back week on week if I lived here.

Only moved to area in December from Bournemouth. Best Chinese we have had,beats the Chinese in Bournemouth. Lovely flavour, good portions and crispy spring roll lovely.

Always order from this Chinese since we have moved to Minehead. The food is always piping hot and we’ve never had an issue with it. The person on the other end of the phone can be quite rude and abrupt at times, but I guess it is because it is busy.

Best Chinese restaurant in the area, service is fast and polite. The sweet and sour chicken balls are to die for and the satay chicken is also very nice

This is a great Chinese take away, David who owns it is a lovely guy who will always go out of his way to help his customers, he has always be very polite and done me many favours over the time I have been going there. His wife is a lovely lady too. The food is always first class to, I know for a fact that everything is cooked fresh, never reheated like I have read some people suggesting. Excellent. Received a nice welcome on entering. The food arrived quite quickly and was still hot when I got back to Butlins. The food itself was excellent, plentiful and very flavorful! Certainly one of the best Chinese meals I've had in quite a while. Will definitely visit again when next in the area. The spare ribs were stunning.

I went into the takeaway, who h was already busy. As I went talk to the girl, behind the counter and began, with my first choice (chicken fried rice), the phone went and she apologised and took the call.She returned to me and began to take, the rest of my order. Before I had finished, the phone went again and this time, she took the call and asked the caller, to wait. I then paid. The order was subsequently brought out, by the man, I recognized as the owner and who was flying around, like a wild thing. He did call out portion names, I recognized, but he was so rushed, I couldn't fully understand. I took my order and returned home, only to find the chicken rice, was missing.When I went back to the takeaway, I spoke to the girl and the phone went. I made it clear, I wanted her to halt the call, but she winked at me and carried on, but asked the caller to wait.Having apologised for her error, she ordered the portion, which came quickly. No reduction or compensation was offered!My meal had been ruined, as a family event and was now totally disjointed.With the trade going through the tolls, which was colossal, they should have sufficient staff.In tree regard to the food, my special friend rice was bland, the crispy duck was dry and tough.I shall go elsewhere, next time.

Visiting from Brighton and decided to get a takeaway on a rainy day, went inside to order and saw how busy it was in there. A young girl took my order, she was very polite and very patient, she handled my order very well and took order while waiting for me to withdraw money from the local Co-Op. I Watched the young girl handle all the orders and also phone orders very efficient and polite....(she deserves a pay rise. The food was the best Chinese I have tasted, I recomend highly.

Ordered a takeaway for the family. Decided on a set meal for 4. Ready on time. Plenty of dishes. More than adequate for 6 and had to leave a fair bit. It might have worked out cheaper and less wasteful to order specific dishes so worth checking the menu carefully. Would definitely use China Garden again if in the area.
