We went for a weekend break to Dulverton and booked in for a late Sunday lunch at 1730. The food was fabulous. One of the staff told us that they cook in batches to ensure you have a fresh roast. We had to just give them the heads up the day before for our main. IT WAS THE BEST ROAST BEEF AND PORK BELLY we have had for a long time. The veg was out of this world and paired with an Exmoor Ale I was in heaven. A sweet later and a cheeseboard saw us into the first ever quiz night. Great fun! Lovely locals made us feel very welcome. A truly great British pub!

What an absolutely miserable land lady! What ever happened to service with a smile? When we said ‘Hi’ we were greeted with a grimace. It is not cheap here either £18 for 2 glasses of wine and a lemonade! The other 2 members of staff were friendly so no reflection on them. Sadly I’m not sure what was more sour….. the taste left in our mouths or the land lady’s face!

The Bridge is a very popular pub in a lovely setting. The menu and food are excellent with a great choice on offer. It comes well cooked and plentiful. We found the staff polite and efficient; they offer a great service. One piece of advice, if you are eating then do BOOK. The pub is very compact, and space is limited! Nevertheless, it's well worth a visit, we thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it.

The menu here has had a serious upgrade (under new management maybe?) This place is a gluten free haven with gluten free options standard across the menu. Today we went for Sunday roast and it was fabulous. I eat gluten free and no meat but this was no problem here, no advance ordering necessary and the nut roast was delicious. My husband had slow cooked lamb which he thoroughly enjoyed. The whole place is dog friendly too!

This was not a very nice experience for my husband and I who are both pensioners. We visited 30/08/24. My husband is in a wheelchair, First there were no ramps, to enter the place, they did eventually provide a plastic ramp that was very unstable, it took myself and a staff member to help my husband get up the ramp into the lounge, the staff member just left my husband to manoeuvre pass tables and chairs so i had to assist him ( In my opinion the tables and chairs are overcrowded and a fire risk) We sat at a table and then ordered a drink and our food. The food was very bland, fish and chips( fish on top of the chips not a great way to serve it) and a mushroom burger. My husband wanted to use the toilet but this had a steep step down so was unable to use. He settled the bill and we tried to make our way out. I had to once again move tables and chairs to enable my husband to get to the door, not one member of staff helped us, the ramp was not useable to get out because of the step on the exit door on the inside so he had to get out of the wheelchair, thankfully a very kind member of the public helped us both get the wheelchair and my husband out of the pub and my husband back in his wheelchair We would NOT recommend this place to anyone

Four of us went for Sunday lunch. I wrote a superb review earlier in the year complimenting all aspects of our visit, but sadly things have taken a real turn for the worse. Whilst the food was still good quality and quantity representing reasonable value for money, the service was very poor indeed. We had to keep asking for things eg to order, to clear. The staff had no idea what proper service was supposed to be and appeared generally disinterested and showed no initiative. It seemed that there was no management overseeing what the staff were doing and ensuring things were done properly. The place was also full of dogs and there were repeated instances of prolonged barking. Other diners were feeding their dogs from their plates. The Bridge has been good and still could be but management need to get a grip of the staff and start to properly supervise. If you want reasonable quality food but poor service then go to The Bridge, but if you want an all round good experience go elsewhere.

We booked for seven when friends came to visit. The others ordered fish pie and a mushroom burger and found their meals good. I ordered fish and chips in a small ( what they called a normal size) portion. A plate of well fried potato cubes with small bowls of tartare sauce and mushy peas on the side. Perched on top was what looked at first glance a scorpion. A tiny triangle of fish tail sticking up in the air, with no fish flakes to be seen as it was so thin. The batter was very dark, over cooked and really stodgy. As my meal consisted mainly of potato I was not impressed by the £16 charge. I certainly wouldn’t recommend this meal and suggest the Exmoor Fish and Chip shop just up the road which is considerably cheaper and so much better. I wasn’t going to make a scene in the pub as it would have spoilt the meal completely for everyone else. I have since spoken to a friend who had exactly the same complaint as I did. This has definitely put me off going back.

It’s a nice pub but not nice enough for the food prices which are a little steep for the location. A pint was 5.40 and a bottle of New Zealand white Sauvignon was £32 which was ludicrous so the ladies had soft drinks and we went back to the van for drinks! I know prices have all gone up but that is a £9 bottle of wine retail. If the prices were more reasonable we would have stayed for a few and this was the opinion of a few we spoke to at our camp site nearby. Apparently the ham egg and chips is good but there wasn’t any when we arrived at 1845.

There is a lot of seating outside with great views down to the bridge and the river. Fish pie is recommended. Staff very friendly and helpful and beaks all arrived quickly and piping hot. The pub itself seems to date from 1845, see the floor area outside the front door. There are other interesting places nearby such as the exmoor offices building which dates to 1855 and the bronze statue of Lorna Doone.

Having just had a health scare we were looking forward to a couple of hours treat at this old favourite pub. Having lived in the area for the past 30 years we have visited The Bridge hundreds of times but now realise that we are maybe not the right sort of people that they are appealing to as it seemed to be full of London hedge fund managers bragging how much money they'd made in the last 5 minutes. The two young girls who initially served us were very polite & professional, the older lady behind the bar was appalling having a face like the wet weekend. We ordered a bottle of wine (£32.50), two burgers (£19.95 each), a fish pie and another couple of drinks and were given a bill of £130 for the privilege. Chips on the burgers were cold, the burger ordinary and small, the fish pie was served with Kale and that was it - £18.00 for a pie with some cheap veg. Now you may think that this is satisfactory for London or Bath and think that you can apply these prices in Somerset but I think you'll be in for a mighty shock come January when the London set have returned. Incredible prices for incredibly ordinary, high priced food - compared to £80.00 the last time we visited Wished we'd stayed at home.....

I recently visited the Bridge Inn,Dulverton and was immediately impressed by the refurbishment of the pub, hovever after a few minutes I was wondering whether it was actually a pub or a vets waiting room. There were dogs everywhere being patted ,fondled, drooled over intersperced with loud barking if another dog intruded on anothers territory. We moved into the verandah type area but in five minutes that was also overun with dogs, albeit better behaved. On leaving the couple that had the most pampered pooch were cradling it, well the male member anyway, was nursing the dog on his lap and actually encouraging the dog to feed from his plate on the table. Being a dog friendly pub is one thing but that is not acceptable where other people are eating, not to mention health and safety guidlines. A lot of pubs are dog friendly but quite often there is a seperate area where dogs are permitted and whilst I appreciate pubs are doing it tough at the moment,I don`t think dogs should be over indulged at the expense of other people who wish to eat in a normal non canine peaceful pub. For the people who will immediately label me as a dog hater, well I am not having several dogs of my own,but the dog had to fit in with me not the other way around.

We dropped in without reservation towards the end of service for the Sunday roast and what a treat. They fitted the two of us in on a table with a comfortable padded bench. It may have been a wait for our orders to be taken but the two different roasts we had were really tasty. I had pork belly and girlfriend had nutroast. They sell the roasts and looking at the menu all mains in two sizes where you pay more for the larger and difference does go towards a pudding. We both had small roasts which was very sufficient, just a bit more gravy (common dilemma wherever you go). Aside, our dog is probably the least food oriented pooch going, gave it a little bit of belly pork and she was up sniffing and wondering if there was more, her timidity with other dogs around gone. As you gather this is a dog friendly pub, very dog friendly. After that, had dessert each, affogato and banoffee pie, both delicious. The espresso coffee was really good in any case. It is a St Austell pub so Tribute was on tap, plus local Somerset Exmoor Ales. Couldn't recommend this pub more. The downside was the service, just not enough staff, but what a job they did and we were never kept waiting too long. It is also a good looking pub inside and a great location by the river. Looks to have plenty of outside seating for when the weather is better. Parking out front.

Great dog friendly pub, with a wonderful take on the pub classics, great find on a wet and windy day.

The food was good and had a very upbeat feel to the pub. There pub was lively with people; families and dogs! The food was yummy, especially the banoffee pie! It was my birthday when we went so they wrote a ‘happy birthday’ message on the pudding, very nice of them!

Stopped here for coffee and cake whilst my children were crabbing. The lady that served us was an absolute delight! Worth a visit for her friendly and welcoming service <3

Lovely little pub, glad we chose it for a pit stop on our way to Exmoor 😀

The website is very misleading as it makes the rooms look nice and modern, but ours was a bit grim and dated; nothing ‘deluxe’ about it. The shower was nice as it had been recently renovated. No soundproofing so you can hear literally everything in the other rooms. The TV was ancient and tiny. In-room coffee is instant only and we asked for oat milk when we booked and didn’t get it. Bed was ok but the pillows were uncomfortable. The carpet looked like it had been there for 50 years and needs replacing. Spa also needs to be upgraded - big hole in the floor of the steam room and the jacuzzi was closed (we weren’t told that at the time of booking). One pro is that it’s a good location - easy walk to shops and restaurants and the park.

This feels like a little secret tucked away down a country lane...when you arrive there is plenty of parking and it will feel a little like you are entering someone's back garden but it is clearly signposted and welcoming. Lots of outdoor seating, but we chose to order to take away as it was a bit chilly. You make your choice from the board, ring the bell, out comes the owner, they take cards which is helpful. He brought all the food out to the car for us which was so kind ( I'm not sure he'd manage to do that if it was a busier time, but a kind thing to do for us whilst it was quiet) The food was delicious..the scones were incredible, light as a feather. The sandwiches yummy, great bread, proper butter we chose ham and cheese the cheese was something else 😋 👌 All our drinks were nice and hot, good coffee too. Can't fault..please don't turn up expecting indoor seating and China teacups..this is very good quality food the menu is limited and an excellent cream tea all served in take away boxes, with plenty of seating in a nature filled garden (or to take away) very dog friendly too 🤩
