I am currently doing work experience at Cobblestones in Dunster on Mondays while at Aurora Foxes Minehead and I have had a cheese and spiced tomato chutney sandwich on Brown bread which I enjoyed the most.

Very disappointed with ploughman's lunch. Limp salad cheap tastless bread. Cheese was OK, but the wafer thin meat was processed and tastless. Lots on the plate, but very poor quality.

Very disappointed with the ploughman's lunch today! Lots of things on the plate, but the have gone for quantity and definitely not quality. The only thing that tasted nice was the cheese. The baguette was cheap and tastless. The meat was cheap and tasteless Also the salad was limp, and had been laying around a long time The Chutney tasted like it came from cash and carry. Very disappointed 😞

Popped in while visiting Dunster for a cream tea and so glad we did. All of the staff were genuinely friendly, attentive, chatty and helpful. The service was quick and the food we had, excellent. I had a lemon scone with lemon curd and my wife the fruit scone with jam. Both scones were huge and still warm when delivered to the table. Both soft and crumbly, the flavour was lovely and for me, the curd was amazing. Tea was great and we were told to just shout for more hot water if we needed any. The surroundings are cosy and the seating well spaced and comfortable. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Not a good experience unfortunately. Waited ages for drinks to arrive. Had to prompt them as other guests who arrived after us received their food and drink before us. I ordered an oat cappuccino but received a latte which I couldn't drink as it tasted awful. I'm sure it was cows milk, not oat milk. When we highlighted the issue to the woman who seemed to be in charge she blamed the waitress. Even though it was the woman in charge making the coffees. Really bad to blame the waitress, she should have just taken responsibility. A really horrible experience. Won't be back

We stumbled on Cobblestones by accident, as part of a visit to Dunster Castle. We were looking for a light lunch in a dog friendly place with space for a wheelchair and pushchair. As soon as we walked in the staff identified our requirements and guided us to a big table towards the back of the place. The food was excellent (we are going back tomorrow for more) and the staff were brilliant. Highly recommend.

The atmosphere of the gardens were very pleasant and the vanilla ice cream is nice, but unfortunately, this is really the only positive thing to say about Cobblestones. We ordered lemonade that was borderline flat and of tepid temperature. The teacakes were very mediocre with hardly any butter. The iced coffee we ordered was very overpriced at nearly £4.00 and the quality definitely didn't live up to the price tag, especially as I didn't even get a glass full. On exit, we went to the toilets and there were no locks on the ladies door. All in all, a disappointing visit but the staff were friendly.

When I give this eatery three out of five, I'm being kind. We went for lunch on Saturday in late July and weren't particularly impressed. It looks as though it's run by a cheerful if lackadaisical mum with her pretty but bored teenage daughter and helpful if insipid son. They put no great love into what they do, and sadly, it shows. The carpets inside smelled quite badly, so we went to sit in the garden at the back, which was pleasant enough, although I had to go all the way back inside to the front counter again to place my order. The food was fine, nothing special, and I wouldn't say that the price was great value. Next time, we'll go somewhere else. Pity.

Dunster is the sort of place which makes you feel like a cream tea. And Cobblestones is just the place to get one. We were seated without delay and our order taken and served up almost instantly. Very little delay. The scones were warm and just as we expected, with jam and cream - delicious. Without even asking we were given complimentary teapot top-up. The whole experience was absolutely delightful, right down to staff clearing, and cleaning tables as soon as they were vacated. A pleasurable experience.

Judging by the previous reviews we must have caught this cafe on a bad day or perhaps they have lots of friends? The service (can you call it sevice)? was reminiscent of Acorn antiques. The coffee was transparent and baguette of my ham baguette was pure dough. Cream, of cream tea, was served in its plastic tub (thats nice) and the fruit scone just disintegrated into a pile of crumbs.....and to think we passed three tea rooms to get to this one.

Wouldn't recommend unfortunately, we don't know Dunster so just went into the first place we happened across but was pretty poor decision making from us. We sat in the garden which was perfectly nice but the food was disappointing and overpriced; £30 for two small baguettes, a portion of chips and two soft drinks. Which would be fine if it was a tasty baguette but the food was very basic; part baked baguettes, one of which didn't look like it had actually been in the oven. There was more mayo than tuna in the baguette itself so all in all it was just really unappealing. There was a hair in the chips and on the crips too it was just all not very pleasant and wish we had eaten elsewhere for £30.

We were looking forward to visiting here on recommendations. Firstly it was freezing (a couple & 2 children left before ordering as it was so cold). I ordered the Afternoon Tea (£15). It arrived and I had to ask for a plate - a dinner sized plate arrived. I had a prawn sandwich but the sauce was running everywhere from it. It said a selection of cakes but I just got 2 pieces of fruit cake. My husband ordered the Burger with cheese & bacon. The bacon looked like it had been cooked then reheated briefly (large pice of fat was white), the burger was raw inside & the bun was hard. Asked for ketchup and told it was in sachets on the table - looked round at 3 tables no ketchup.

The tea was served to us and no sooner had i poured both cups of tea I was asked if we would like a refill. The homemade scones were served very quickly and were still hot. We went to pay and the lady at the counter told me how much it was and I told her that it wasn’t right, I honestly thought she had undercharged us. My husband and I had wanted to go to this eatery all week. On our last day we decided to go for brunch. They weren't open when we arrived at 10.40 even though the door was ajar. I went in and shouted "Hello!' A very disinterested young man eventually appeared and I asked him what time they open and if they would be serving breakfast to which he replied "20 minutes". We returned at 11am when he was putting up the sign boards outside but said it would be another couple of minutes before he could open so we waited just to the side of the cafe. He actually opened up without coming to tell us. We went inside and asked where we should sit. "Anywhere" came the nonchalant reply. We chose a table for 2 but noticed it hadn't been cleaned properly so we asked him to wipe it which he reluctantly did. He then told us the card machine wasn't working as it wasn't charged up so we asked him how long it would take - "about 20 minutes" which was OK as it would take us longer to have brunch. He asked what we wanted to eat, we asked for a menu. My husband chose the traditional breakfast with the pot of coffee as quoted, I chose a bacon egg & sausage sandwich with a latte. He told my husband he couldn't have a pot of coffee. He also said that the coffee machine wasn't ready as no one had switched it on. I asked if the coffee would be ready by the time the breakfasts came and he said he really didn't know. This was the last straw. His attitude throughout had been abysmal, we had the impression that he really didn't want to be there. I told him that we would find somewhere else to eat at which point he accused me of being a rude customer as none of this, was his fault. Very disappointing when we had read the good reviews on TripAdvisor and in the guest book at our holiday cottage.

Ordered 2 cream teas. No ordinary scones, so had to settle for lemon scone, which were so hot they fell apart. Only given 1 small pot of jam and no cream!. Had to ask for the cream, then tried to go and find someone to get some more jam, noone in the shop so had to go in the kitchen. Lack lustre service, when not vaping or on mobile phone, and raised voices in the kitchen. Only positive was the tea and scone were nice, but service terrible. Shame really😏

As a little overview, everything was fantastic: from the food, to the service, to even the decorations and atmosphere. To begin with, we walked in to a stunning room, welcoming environment and staff who are more than happy to give you advice on best car parking spots here and in Minehead, as well as advice on options of where to go for dinner in both places. My dad was still looking in other shops so my mum and I went ahead and ordered because we were limited in time. We got our teas and the ladies behind the bar had good communication with us as to if we wanted to wait to put the food through to the kitchen or not. Furthermore, they were also happy to hold the bread on the soup for my mum, who was most pleased with this. My dad ordered a few minutes after us and like the teas, his americano was quick to arrive. It wasn’t long after that our food was served. All three came together with extra spoons for the stew 2 of us had. This is an example of how the ladies think ahead and know what each customer needs. Obviously the food was amazing and brilliant quality as you might expect from a fine establishment such as this. While we were finishing up a younger member of staff was clocking off and leaving, and to my surprise the more senior staff clearly cared a lot because they made sure she was ok to get home safe and offered her a slice of cake too. Just another show of how much this place pays attention to detail. To continue, I took a slice of carrot cake to go which turned out to be delicious and moist, packed with lots of healthy nuts. As you can tell I was extremely pleased with our visit and will absolutely come again, and recommend to anyone in the area.

Disappointing first visit to Cobblestones in a number of years. We visit the area regularly and thought we'd pay a return visit. The food that arrived was barely warm. The sausage sandwich was on cheap supermarket bread, poor quality sausages and not very warm either. The teacakes were also of poor quality and not warm. At the price charged we had expected much better quality food. We get that times are tough right now, but it felt like corners are being cut on quality to maintain prices. We had no intent to say anything and wouldn't have written this review either, but on the way out when asked if all was okay we mentioned that the food was disappointing. We got a very snappy response. In most lines of work a complaint would be met with "I'm sorry to hear that" rather than be made to feel we are the wronged ones. A big plus point was Tom, the guy who served us. We heard he was a new starter, coming from the amazing Foxes Academy. One bright point in our visit at least :-)

Disappointing food. Fish was grey and not fresh, batter tough and had nasty taste. Lack of lemon too, to mask this a bit. Would not recommend.

We received a very warm welcome on a rainy day when we arrived with six adults and four children of various ages. The staff were so kind and thoughtful with the children and provided toys and colouring to keep them amused. Our order was taken...

Attention to detail was clearly lacking here on my visit. Asked for no garnish (allergy related), but this was given. Asked for one dish, got another. One of our party had to send a main course back as the fat on the bacon was unacceptable. Barely any bacon at all. That aside, The garden dining experience was pleasant. Food quality was OK. Well cooked and tasty. Table Service otherwise was fine. However i do find this place to be expensive for what it is. Would not go back based on my experience. Staff need to do better with the attention to detail. Food waste is unacceptable and if the kitchen staff had paid attention to the removal of said items, that would have been appreciated. As a customer, failure to listen is a failure to care.

We spent a week here with friends who had dogs. The stay was a great getaway and restful. Staff, food, and location were excellent. Although the hotel and rooms were clean and tidy, it is starting to need some TLC and a regular whip round with a feather duster on a long pole, to reach the spiders webs up high and to give the Stags antlers a Polish!! Other than that, it was a great place to stay. Thank you. The Crown and all the lovely staff.

A very good dog friendly pub with rooms. Rooms clean, food brilliant, friendly staff and dogs allowed everywhere. Only thing that could be improved is the guest entrance to the hotel, very tired and need of updating. Otherwise a brilliant stay!
