Lovely seaside café, ideal for breakfast and lunches. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.

Came here 10 years ago with family so when back for a return holiday we were delighted to see that it was still open and stopped for lunch with the dogs, great quality food in good portions, the outdoor huts are great for avoiding small showers!

Wonderful customer service with a smile by all members of staff, andthe breakfast was nothing short of delicious. Lively view of the area and sat in a hut which was quirky and a bliss out of the breeze. Deffo recommend!

Last visited regularly for lunch with my mum 4 years ago but found it very expensive now. Prices have gone a lot. Probably won't be returning...shame because the setting and staff are lovely.

Stopped by for fish and chips with my family including two lively boys. They were lovely with the children. The food was wonderful. Battered cod absolutely delicious. Well worth a visit just for the sea view.

The food was rank, although very hungry could not eat, bacon undercooked and cheap, the coffee was horrible, avoid. Nice location should be very successful.

It was the second best Fish & Chips I've had in the United Kingdom. Enjoying the tranquillity with a wonderful view was priceless.

We popped in for coffee and cake while out on a bike ride, very clean and the cake was great. Sat outside looking over the sea, what could be nicer.

Up there with the worst breakfast I’ve ever had. My partner is still moaning about it now & it’s 1830 - he doesn’t usually moan about anything. AVOID

Called in for 2 take away cream teas. I standard and 1 savoury cream tea. A very busy little cafe with good service. Food came out quickly and the scones were warm. It's not often you find a savoury cream tea option anywhere. Big thumbs up

One word AWFUL Tea. Not even fresh. An old pot topped up and swished about. Like hot milk Coffee. Coffee scoops not brushed clean between use leaving a bitter taste of stale coffee. Milk frothed and frothed again therefore not velvety in any way. Fizzy water flat. Only one person serving and making coffee. Not a good thing to say

Food was okay, cheap sausages 🤢 personally I don’t like my tomatoes and beans on the same plate mixed together. just 1 toilet not a fan on unisex toilets . It was about 13.45 / 13.50 and people were sat at tables waiting for food ( wasn’t to busy) and an old couple struggled up the steps to get to the café when they got there the manager said the kitchen was closed and turned them away. Obviously, he has too much money so you can turn people away. Perhaps he should buy some better sausages and be nicer to the customers..

A really great place to have good food. A real varied menu, very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The cafe is right on the seafront. We went in after walking with our dog. Very dog friendly and OK if your boots aren't polished. Highly recommended.

Disappointing latte. Tasted like instant coffee made with milk like my Nan used to. The vege sausage bap fried and loaded with margarine. Very greasy so couldn’t eat. Location and building very nice

Called in while out on a walk. Despite being very busy we found a table. Service very welcoming and friendly. Good menu. The only negative was the cakes being kept chilled we found a bit dry but would have no hesitation in coming back.

Visit here now and again. Nice little cafe/coffee shop restaurant with outside area and veranda for diner's when weather permits. Overlooking blue Anchor Bay with the steam railway behind, it is a lovely place to visit, esp in warmer months. They serve everything from sandwiches to kids burgers to fish and chips.

Decided to eat here today after taking our children swimming and it was so lovely to eat somewhere that caters for very young children. We took our 10 and 3 year old and my 3 year old was able to order from the tots menu and actually use cutlery suitable for his age! As a family we always have to pay for a meal that is far too large for our youngest but today was perfect! Also would love to point out that a junior English breakfast was on the menu too which was perfect for our 10 year old. Well done to The Driftwood Cafe.....we will he back!

Ordered 2 vegetarian breakfasts and 2 lattes. The breakfasts were delivered very quickly. The food looked and tasted really good. I asked for the lattes to be served with the meal and the waitress kindly brought them over. Definitely would return.

My wife and i live locally and used this cafe many times. We called in a couple of days ago at 2pm to be told there was no hot food, just cake and drinks. Such a shame, as we have enjoyed the views over lunch on previous visits.

This is such a lovely place and I have been coming here over the years with my family who live locally. It has always been a really positive experience. However, the food this time was frankly uneatable. We ordered the cod fish pie that was literally all mashed potato. We also ordered the beetroot, goats cheese burgers which we had to leave entirely - clearly no one had tested or tasted them on the management team as they would not have been served.

Been here for breakfast.... Not ready to open at 9.00 am... They are still setting up the tables. In one week holiday this was the place where the portion for English breakfast was the smallest 🤔 for me was the smallest I ever had 👎 Parking spaces in a road 👍

Went in for coffee before coastal walk, very busy but friendly happy staff, very good service, choice of indoor/outdoor seating, very clean, went back for lunch later - fast service, delicious food, generous servings, cakes looked amazing but we were full!

Great location, but tea is made by reusing teabags in a pot for a mug of tea. Breakfast was made with tinned tomatoes and I suspect tinned mushrooms instead of fresh.

My go to for fish and chips, fresh, tasty, excellent value , staff lovely, great location, whats not to love!

Lovely, the staff were friendly and were really helpful with my dietary requirements. It's clean and has a lovely atmosphere, and the coffee and food were hot and delicious. There's plenty of seating inside and out and lovely views.

Update 23/09/2023 Paid a visit just before 3pm expecting to have a cream tea before my journey home and was told that I couldn't have one as food service was stopped at 2.30pm. They close at 3.30pm So I had just a mug of very strong coffee and a piece of very poor Bakewell Tart for £5.50! Not a pleasant experience, they were cleaning the place up around me for what I can assume was a rapid close up for the day. I think that I'll be reconsidering my choices for a cream tea and food in future visits to Blue Anchor in the future and will probably go to Kitnors or other place for it. As it stands I can no longer recommend the Driftwood Cafe.

Lovely place to sit and have a meal, snack or just a drink. Staff very nice, there is limited seating inside but plenty of tables outside and all with the a sea view. Plenty of free parking and right opposite the beach. Dog friendly as well, so there is no need to leave your four legged friends behind.

I would like to say sorry for taking so long to write this review, i take my mother every Thursday as a day trip out a lady who suffers early stages of dementia. she is made so welcome here the staff as well as well the location are wonderful and i thankyou for that. the lunch time food is good old classic fish & chips and my favorite a bowl of cheesy chips, fairly priced and presented well. the west somerset steam railway station is in walking distance and also a lovely experience, in the summer months there is a lot of outside seating so you can enjoy the sea views with a lovely cup of coffee. this is a must stop over when passing through Blue Anchor

Visited here for first time and such a super find. 1930s superb cafe on the Seafront at Blue Anchor….indoor and outdoor seating with sea views whilst serving great food at very reasonable prices. The cooked breakfasts which we had were served quickly but all freshly cooked with quality ingredients. Cakes looked good too but no room left! Highly recommend.

A Cafe opposite the beach in beautiful West Somerset, I'd found it from a google search as not from the area. Good range of food on the menu, all priced reasonably. We opted for the cod/ chips and ham eggs/ chips - both were delivered swiftly and perfectly nice! I found the service good. Great choice of seating options! We will return when next in the area.

The food was amazing, great service and happy staff. We had the grilled fish which was sea bass and tasted lovely and the fish cakes, they were also excellent.

A fantastic cafe with great sea food we all had sea food, fish and chips, scampi and chips and two prawn salads (huge amount of prawns). The views are amazing as well. I'd highly recommend a visit.

The worst grilled fish ever, for £14. Not sure whether you can call it grilled...

Poor food said grilled seabass it was not sloppy not grilled like out of a microwave and very grumpy unpolite man collect the plates made you feel uncomfortable will not come back

Not sure what all the other poor reviews are on about Absolute diamond place. Food was outstanding. Spotlessly clean and cheap. Here for my holiday and can’t have been happier with this little place. Absolutely heaving and staff and waiters were 10/10. Thank you!!!

Our family of 6 arrived at 1 minute past 3 ....apparently they stop serving at 3. We walked to them straight off the train. You'd think they'd have that planned out? We won't be coming back....

Having arrived at 2.40pm, only managed to get a coffee, as they stopped serving lunch at 2.30pm and unfortunately, they were not offering sandwiches. Great location with seating inside and out.

One of our favourite places to visit whatever the weather. Great food and excellent coffee. Don't want to tell too many people about this gem of a cafe incase it gets too busy!

Nice food but we sat outside and was blighted by baby spiders not the cafes fault obviously but the time of year we decided to sit out, wish we had sat inside because everything else was 5 star

Only dog friendly on dry days. Told to take my food outside because the dog was wet (not dirty) but there were no sheltered tables. Won't be heading back.

Incredible view but terrible service from the lady behind the desk when she could clearly see our disabled family friend struggling to enter the cafe we were told to step aside to let others in. The food however was of decent quality but is still a "greasy spoon" type full English The view was incredible though.

Always a great place to stop and very dog friendly with water bowls everywhere. Food very good and excellent sea view of course. Also a few outdoor pods if you need some shelter.

Had been told about this cafe and how good the food & service were a while ago - I was not disappointed! The menu is traditional with added extras which makes you feel adventurous. All food appeared to be homemade or local sourced and couldn't you tell! Portions not excessive but just right. Staff extremely pleasant, hard working & obliging. When I am in the area again, and being a member of the West Somerset Railway Association that is at least twice a year, then snacks, coffee and/or lunch is sorted - has to be at this cafe!!! A thoroughly enjoyed experience!

There's a lovely advert of a milkshake on their board in the front. My wife and I thought, we'd have a milkshake each Well, they were pathetic. In a thin little glass, and the shake was just like water!!! It was the WORST milkshake we have ever had. The advert outside showed how a milkshake should look. Their milkshakes were pathetic. If I worked there, I'd cringe with embarrassment if I sold that to anyone. Maybe even pop to your local McDonald's and check out one of their milkshakes...as you need to go somewhere to learn how to make them. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL MILKSHAKE!!!!

Friendly small fish and chip cafe that serves much more than that. But the fish is just the best so why bother with anything else. Also all the drinks are on tap so no can or bottle waste. Staff friendly and dog friendly. Just watch the gulls.

Had a full English breakfast and pot of tea that was amazing will definitely be back for some more . Staff made you feel welcome and the place was very clean and air cooled.
