This is one of those places that you’re glad you’ve found and will always return to. The staff are very friendly and the food is very good (particularly the Sunday Carvery). I had a Venison steak which was excellent and my husband had the meat pie which he really enjoyed too.

Enjoyable and comfortable 3 night stay, the owner Eric and his staff looked after us really well and was happy for us to invite guests for dinner on 2 nights of our stay. Lovely restaurant with good spacing, we enjoyed our Sunday Evening carvery, plentiful and good quality. Had a special vegan curry on our last night, also delicious. Breakfasts were very ample and tasty. Rooms were well furnished, spacious and comfortable. Highly recommend this off the beaten track Exmoor Inn. Will return if in area.

First the good news. Staff could not be faulted. We had the Sunday evening carvery carved by the chef - lots of roast pork and a mound (I mean mound) of vegetables, good 4/5. Bad news. Went back for the Wednesday carvery but this time carved not by the chef but the owner (?). Far less meat and although the same amount of vegetables was the same I still had a third left after eking out the meat. barely 2/5. If we had gone on Wednesday first we would not have gone back.

We stayed in the Inn for two nights, the owner welcomed us on our arrival and was very Knowledgeable about the area, which we found very useful. The rooms were clean and tidy and had all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. In the evening the bar was covered at all times and we did not have to waste any time finding a member of staff, which has been the case at others places we have stayed. There is a good selection of beers and spirits and the prices were very good. I would certainly recommend this Inn, and would like to return in the future.

We were a group of 6 staying at the Exmoor Valley site in September and wanted a night out together. We contacted Eric at the "Rest and Be Thankful" to book a table mid week and to ask about transport to and from as we were likely to enjoy a glass or two.He couldn't have been more helpful. We were collected from the site ontime and returned when we were ready for a very reasonable fee. The hospitality and friendliness from Eric and his staff was grand and our food was fresh, well prepared and cooked and made for a very enjoyable evening. The bar and restaurant were well laid out to cope with these difficult times. We felt safe and were well looked after. Thank you all for a grand evening, the warmth and good old fashioned hospitality.

Following the funeral service of my wife's Mother, we pre-arranged with the Landlord Eric Norman, given the latest Covid regulations, to have 4/5 tables set up with the required distancing. This worked perfectly. Some had the carvery, some had meals from the daily menu, and the few children we had also had their requested meals. The food was absolutely top class, and the personal service given by Chantelle and Emily was first class. Given the circumstances for our family gathering, Eric and staff handled the situation with the utmost respect for which we were all so thankful.

Honking! Bar manager was an absolutely shocking bloke, consistently unwelcoming and border-line combative throughout. Every request was too much. Food was genuinely laughable, roast dinner was one step up from hospital food. Embarrassing. The “vibe” in the dining room was that of a Ukrainian bus station cafe. Staff, including the manager, then proceeded to turn the bar into their personal hangout. I couldn’t help but feel as if we were imposing! Poundland Pub open to keep the staff busy rather than provide service to customers! Spent the whole way home laughing. Highly recommend if you’re in need of a pick me up.

Staff, uninviting. Food, paltry. Atmosphere, cold. From the get go my friends and I felt unwelcome, once we sat down to eat the pork roast, there was a measly amount of meat. Limited beer selection from a standard bar. Not going back in a hurry.

The Rest and B is a brilliant local pub which works very hard to maintain a high standard of food and service and is exactly what a traditional rural pub should offer. The food is exceptionally generous in the size of the servings and I have never yet been able to finish the classic, comforting food that is regularly on offer. My partner and I visit regularly and are only too aware of the pressure that the hospitality industry is labouring under with coronavirus and we are impressed with the effort put in by the management to keep this Exmoor gem up and running for visitors as well as loyal locals.

This pub has the best of both worlds, it's a great local watering hole and is equally as friendly and welcoming in to guests who are staying in its rooms. It's a family run free house serving local beer and fine food.I visited just after Covid lockdown and they were well set up for sanitisation and social distancing. The team all work really hard to make your stay and your meals as pleasant an experience as possible, it was a truly lovely stay away.

We stopped in here with our son and dog on Sunday for a carvery. The staff were really nice and we were put in the restaurant area in the skittle alley as we had a dog. At around 1.30 two members of staff came in and started putting the cutlery and glasses from the made up tables away, this was ok but distracted my son who stopped eating. We were still eating when the staff then started putting the tables and chairs around us away. I couldn’t believe it, I’ve never felt so awkward and unwelcome in my life we were still eating and it wasn’t late. We weren’t offered deserts and my husband went to take my son to have a change and this point I thought they were going to take my chair away. So I just got the dog and went into the bar area, i felt so awkward. The food was good and the staff at the bar were friendly, but it ruined the whole atmosphere for us.

Deciding late the evening before to have a night away on Exmoor, we found this delightful inn on Hotels.com. A friendly welcome, clean room and a reserved table should we require an evening meal (we did, and enjoyed a vegetable korma and beef lasagna, shared a pudding.) Although on a road which was busy in the daytime, there was hardly any traffic at night - we had a good night's sleep and we heard no noise from the pub at all. Breakfast was fine, a better selection of cereals would have been welcome (like weetabix, shreddies or similar). I wouldn't say that the pub caters particularly well for vegetarians, but there was a choice of two veggie mains in the evening menu and it is possible to mix and match the breakfast to suit.

months ago we spotted a house we thought we would like to take a look at, so we booked the room well in advance. We arrived on Sunday, Bags in room, which faced on to the street, but the village is so quite, this was not an issue. We took a walk to see where the post office was, not where we thought it would be, but it gave us a chance to take some pictures and get a feel for the place. Behind the Inn ee spotted the garage with a little supermarket and post office, and that was handy as we had forgotten our tooth brushes. When we arrived, we asked if we need to book, and they had already reserved us a table, it is little things like that makes the experience all the more enjoyable.

We were all on the main floor so did not involve any steps which we much appreciated assome of us are not too mobile. We ordered drinks which the staff brought to the tables for us. We all ordered the carvery and I was pleasantly surprised to find at least 4 diiferent meats and without any problem the chef carved me a slice of each meat. The vegetables were also varied, well cooked and lived up to their expectation. I can honestly say that this was the hottest and best tasting carvery that I have had in many a year.

Stopped here again after a trip to snowdrop valley. Once again we all agreed that the carvery was excellent, we were even talking about how good it was on the drive back to Taunton. Friendly helpful staff and good value for money makes for a wonderful Sunday lunchtime experience. Thanks to all once again.

Had a couple of pints and a bar snack here. Prices good, food good, bar lady -July(?) - very friendly and cheerful. This pub also has a large car-park and tubs to rinse your boots off before entering -I think that's what they were for!

Visited this pub whilst visiting Snowdrop Valley. First pre walk visit was to have a coffee, and I was so taken with the friendliness of the welcome that after the walk we had a Sunday lunch there. The food was great after such an invigorating ramble but it was the little touches that made it special. There were little pairs of scissors with each of the condiments dishes for anyone struggling to get their mustard or vinegar sachets open. The clincher for me was the fantastic range of home made deserts available; not that we could manage any, as the colossus of a meal more than stifled my appetite. Coupled with a great range of beers & ciders, this is a destination pub not to miss if you are in the area. There is a gallery of old photographs adorning the wall spaces, so a great destination for any historical buffs wishing to fuel their "days gone by" curiosity. Definitely worth a visit.

We walked the length of the Minehead beach to visit the RNLI lifeboat station and gift shop. It's something I do everytime I visit and this pub is perfectly situated overlooking the harbour at the end

Gone back to mortimers from Mad Hatters and absolutely shocking. Half of the jacket potato we had was hard. As for the puddings, one was inedible. Told the staff and they weren’t bothered. Was still c
