The website is very misleading as it makes the rooms look nice and modern, but ours was a bit grim and dated; nothing ‘deluxe’ about it. The shower was nice as it had been recently renovated. No soundproofing so you can hear literally everything in the other rooms. The TV was ancient and tiny. In-room coffee is instant only and we asked for oat milk when we booked and didn’t get it. Bed was ok but the pillows were uncomfortable. The carpet looked like it had been there for 50 years and needs replacing. Spa also needs to be upgraded - big hole in the floor of the steam room and the jacuzzi was closed (we weren’t told that at the time of booking). One pro is that it’s a good location - easy walk to shops and restaurants and the park.

A nice traditional hotel. Our room was clean and we had a comfy bed. Shower was a bit on the small side, breakfast was decent. Loved the gardens and location.

This hotel is the equivalent of a warm hug that leaves you feeling welcome and very much at home. Over the years we have stayed in Marriott’s, Holiday Inns, Best Westerns - all have felt almost transactional in style and none have created the personal touch that Northfield does. We have loved our stay here. For us it is the ambience that matters most and this hotel with its lovely staff has that in abundance. Monique and the team are kind, responsive, warm, friendly and go out of their way to deliver great service. We nearly missed dinner the first night but we were able to order ahead. The hotel provides old style hospitality that leaves you feeling sad at the thought of checking out. Been here a week. Opted for half board. The food each night has been varied and delicious. This hotel has surpassed our expectations. A unique and special place to stay. Slip off your shoes and get comfy.

Excellent Hotel and just a short walk to town, there is plenty of car parking spaces available, when we arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful and we were given are key to our room which is warm and very comfortable, the hotel has an indoor swimming pool and gym open all day, the meals are fantastic and a wide choice on the menu, this is a lot more than a 5 star experience and would recommend a stay here for all the family.

The Northfield Hotel in Minehead has a lot of English charm. There are sufficient parking spaces available. The garden offers great seating to linger and is worth seeing, especially in spring! There are also great corners everywhere in the house to sit and relax. The rooms are generously equipped. Unfortunately, our bathroom was a bit old and could use a refresh, especially the shower. The WiFi was great throughout the house! The pool area is also very dated. The jacuzzi was broken during our stay. The sauna looked good, and the seating in the pool area was new. However, the pool and showers were not in good condition. If the pool hadn't been advertised, I wouldn't have missed it. The location of the hotel is great. In just a few minutes you can reach the promenade, the harbor and the city on foot. :)

Had a lovely stay, beautiful hotel, gorgeous food, breakfast was great, stunning gardens you can walk through to get to the town and beach. The staff work super hard, perhaps a little too hard to be honest, lovely team who should be praised and thanked for their efforts. Very characteristic hotel, stunning dining room, felt like a 1940s Downtown type hotel

What a shame that our recent visit was marred by the poor choice of sweets as everything else was very good. The apple crumble on the first night was followed by pear crumble the next. We struggled to find any crumble at all. Other choices each night could be bought from a supermarket ie. profiteroles and Black Forest gateaux. We resorted to ice cream as nothing seemed home made or special. Frequent spelling mistakes on the board! eg . Vanila ice cream/profitroles/black forets

Visited for a short stay at Christmas. Furniture in the bedroom is very "dated" and the room generally looked tied. Our first meal was quite good but after that the quality deteriorated rapidly. Main areas of concern started with our second main meal when roasted vegetables were served. These were served with all remaining main course (even with Dover sole fish), they also got progressively burnt and on our last meal they were black. I heard one customer complain about the burnt roast vegetables and another guest refused to accept them (he was not offered an alternative). On the initial advert it states the Christmas Day buffet would be served in the Restaurant, in fact it was served in a cold, club type room and the standard of buffet was the worst I have seen. On the whole this was not value for the money paid, and would I visit again :- No.

Stayed in this typically English hotel during our short stay in Minehead. Hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. Room and bathroom were much larger than we normally would expect with views over the garden. Bed was very comfortable. We made use of the hotel pool one evening which was a nice surprise for a traditional hotel. We decided to eat in town so made use of the garden gate to take the short walk there via Blenheim park. Breakfast was excellent with good variety. Would definitely recommend.

Faced with the choice of bacon, eggs (in all their forms), mushrooms, tomatoes, sausage, beans, and fried bread, I restricted myself to the first four. I’m glad I did. When Jules - my cheerful waitress - brought the sizzling plate to my table, together with my chosen newspaper, there were two poached eggs as well as two rashers, plus the other items. More than enough and very tasty too, but there’s only so much a man can eat.

The Northfield Hotel offers very traditional, English-style accommodation, set in lovely gardens and with a panoramic outlook over Minehead bay. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and were willing to deal with all our enquiries without making us feel we were being a nuisance. Our room had a beautiful view out over the bay and the front gardens. It was spacious and comfortable and had a decent bathroom. We ate at the hotel twice, once in the formal dining room, and once in the informal lounge. Both meals were very good. Our waitress, Julia, went out of her way to make sure we were well looked after. The hotel is within walking distance of the main town and the beachfront, plus there is on-site parking which makes it all very convenient.

A quintessentially English hotel with a warm welcome and excellent location. Fine facilities, very good food and excellent staff. The Northfield has an ambience of a country house retreat with a tranquil peaceful atmosphere combined with unobtrusive service. Our room was large and well-appointed with the accent on comfort and refinement. All meals were excellent – including the afternoon tea with scones and cakes. The Northfield seems to exude the level of hospitality and charm that existed in a bygone era. We will certainly return.

Would thoroughly recommend this lovely old hotel. We had a very large bedroom, complete with two comfy armchairs - so more like a small suite (room 30) The bathroom was spacious. Overall extremely comfortable. Fabulous breakfast. The staff were all so informal and nice, but very polite and friendly. Bonus was the big private car park at the rear. Shortish walk to the train station (steam railway) and into the town. We really enjoyed our stay and were sorry when it came time to leave - as it was so homely.

All the public areas were comfortable and well maintained. I recently sent my parents to the Northfield hotel to use a voucher they got given as a present. I did warn them since the new Management took over food quality had slipped. They decided to give it a go and lets just say they will not be returning! The food portions were awful and they had 3 courses! The pate looked like it had been measured and the portion was very small. The steaks were over cooked and they got one piece of califlower each along with a couple other vegetables which wouldnt be enough for one let alone two. Although they complained to the waitress afterwards she just brushed it off.

We arrived to find that our party of seven for Sunday lunch had been seated at a makeshift table arrangement in what appeared to be a corridor (albeit a wide one) leading to the rear rooms of the hotel. The dining room seemed to be being used by hotel guests and a private function was going on, however, we were not warned of this when we booked a week in advance, nor was any apology made when we arrived. Our "table" consisted of what appeared to be three card tables alongside one another. When I complained about lack of space a fourth table was added to the configuration. Still not really satisfactory but we decided to accept the arrangement rather than risk spoiling the lunch. When we came to order our food the promised vegetarian option did not appear on the menu, and only when the offer of an omlette was declined was this put right. The food itself was average, apart from the beef which was seriously overcooked, and there appeared to be a problem with the roast potatoes which were insufficient for four people let alone seven. When we asked for more potatoes a small tray of scraps of roast potato was produced, they had obviously run out but didn't want to admit it. Overall a disappointing experience and we won't be going back.

This feels like a little secret tucked away down a country lane...when you arrive there is plenty of parking and it will feel a little like you are entering someone's back garden but it is clearly signposted and welcoming. Lots of outdoor seating, but we chose to order to take away as it was a bit chilly. You make your choice from the board, ring the bell, out comes the owner, they take cards which is helpful. He brought all the food out to the car for us which was so kind ( I'm not sure he'd manage to do that if it was a busier time, but a kind thing to do for us whilst it was quiet) The food was delicious..the scones were incredible, light as a feather. The sandwiches yummy, great bread, proper butter we chose ham and cheese the cheese was something else 😋 👌 All our drinks were nice and hot, good coffee too. Can't fault..please don't turn up expecting indoor seating and China teacups..this is very good quality food the menu is limited and an excellent cream tea all served in take away boxes, with plenty of seating in a nature filled garden (or to take away) very dog friendly too 🤩

The food was really good unfortunately the experience was let down by service. We sat in the restaurant and we could hear everything going on in the kitchen, not normally a problem but in this instance the waiting staff were being told to go and take orders, we'd been waiting 15 minutes in an empty pub! Then to add insult to injury we could hear a male belching loudly from the kitchen. This put us off the food that was delivered.... in short we have been here before and came back because we had a good meal, whether or not new staff or just a one off we would need to seriously consider if we return. Sorry as a big fan of supporting local pubs & businesses it goes against the grain but these days money is too hard earned not to say something!
