Butterflies Cafe and Coffee Shop in West Somerset

Me my wife and son had 2 x delicious bacon, egg and sausage sandwiches from Butterflies caffe. The service and hospitality was very good. The lady who ran the place was super friendly and made a huge effort to make our 1 year old boy happy by making friendly contact with him and gave him a lovely play spoon to keep him occupied. I would most definitely come back to the lovely place in the future.

Great little place, lovely food and good portions. The Staff are all very friendly and it's a lovely place to sit whilst doing my emails, or just to take a bit of time out. Cash only, so don't forget.

Me and my children had breakfast delivered it was amazing. Food was lovely and hot, proper sausages thick bacon could not praise enough looking forward to trying lunch one day. Made lockdown mark 2 a lot better highly recommend

Beautifully decorated and very pretty. Very friendly atmosphere. Food was excellent with a good choice. Cakes were lovely and homemade. Seemed popular with local/regulars which is always a good sign. Adhered to Covid regulations with room between tables and people were socially distancing whilst paying, but was not asked to provide name and address or scan code for track and trace? Takes cash only which was rather unusual but not an issue for us. Would definitely recommend.

Made to feel very welcome. Decided to order the cheese and ham omelette with side salad, which proved to be a very good choice. Omelette was hot from first to last mouthful, folded over with cheese and ham filling. Good mix of salad on the side. Then just when you thought it couldn't get better, asked about desert and told one of the options was.. Apple and rhubarb crumble (rhubarb from the chefs garden)......the crumble was perfect and complimented with custard as my choice.Well worth a visit with prices on the menu being very fair.

Really nice café with super friendly staff. The breakfast was good value and plenty of it. The sausages are not of the highest standard but the food was value for money and we would happily return.

My son and I had a pre road trip breakfast in this warm and welcoming cafe. I highly recommend the mega breakfast, especially the amazing bacon. Lovely, friendly service as well. What more could you want on a Monday morning.

Had a wonderful breakfast at Butterflies Cafe. The bacon was particularly delicious! Staff were so welcoming. The perfect start to the day. Also Covid check in signs/ QR codes were very clear.

My wife and I recently spent 2 weeks in Minehead and called for breakfast most mornings . On 2 occasions I had a full English breakfast and the other days had perfectly poached eggs on toast like door stops nice and thick . The owner is a lovely woman with a ready smile and nothing is too much trouble , if it's not on the menu just ask .

A group of friends and I visited on Saturday and were so impressed that we came back on the Monday too!I often struggle to find somewhere to eat being vegetarian and intolerant to gluten and dairy, but I managed to get a fantastic vegetarian breakfast with gluten Free bread and a selection of dairy free milks for hot drinks. My boyfriend had the milkshake and it was loaded up with cream and toppings - he was impressed and said it tasted delicious. We were made to feel welcome and the staff remembered us from our first visit.

Visited today had breakfast and was fantastic filling and tasty lovely welcoming ladies the place is clean and prices reasonable will definitely come again when we next on hols

Met a friend for coffee at 2pm not realising that the cafe closed at 230! We were still sat there enjoying the sunshine, talking ...... as we’d not seen each other for months.... at 3.30...... very refreshing not to be rushed by the owner who was very friendly and chatty..... great coffee too!

Me and my partner Kayleigh, came across this little Gem of a place when we was visiting mine head, I couldn’t help myself the smell of fresh scones cooking was enough for me to pop in, We were greeted with big smiles and a very warm welcome, I had afternoon tea and Kayleigh had a full English breakfast, not only was the food amazing the place was buzzing and vibrant, with laughter and music and got really busy quickly. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone I am so happy We found this place, I will bring my mum next time for afternoon tea as everything was homemade. I have read other reviews about the price but to be honest you get can’t put a price on homemade products with fresh ingredients so I don’t mind paying that little bit extra. Of course if you want ping and ding and sticky tables from the alcohol the night before and surrounded by drunks by all means head over to weatherspoons, but for me we love the tea rooms and I find local businesses give that little bit extra.

Go to W’spoons, it’s cheaper!!I love to support local businesses,I hate chains.However, I’d avoid this place like covid!! Poor service,crap food, rude people!!Given this place the benefit of the doubt, no more!!These people are rude, the food is rubbish and expensive!!

I have been coming to the cafe for about 2 years I have never had any problem with the food or the service. And the lady that runs the cafe is one of the nicest people you could know. Please don’t worry about any bad review obviously they don’t know what they are talking about.Del

My family and I went for lunch, we are local people in the town. The food was poor , the bacon was barely cooked the salad had definitely seen its best before date, I wouldn’t even serve a rabbit the cucumber. One of the meals was missing and when we asked could we have the quiche warmed the owner was extremely rude. I would definitely not recommend as a place to eat. I think the owner needs to rethink how she treats and speaks to local customers as during the winter months it will be the local custom that she will be relying on.

Owners attitude was rude and unprofessional when addressing my family. The bacon was grey and undercooked, the cucumber in the salad had definitely gone over and was brown. The quiche was cold and when asked to be warmed up the owner told us “she was busy and that they don’t normally warm quiche” and was very reluctant to do it, the owner then went on to say “that was our lot”. Even thought a meal was missing (NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED). As a local who supports the cafe in the winter, very disappointed and DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE COMING BACK. P.S. the young waitress was lovely and very understand.

I have had a takeaway breakfast two days in a row - made to feel very welcome and the food was excellent.

We've been to Butterflies many times and have written good reviews in the past, but today's visit was a real disappointment. I'd missed going out for a coffee during lockdown, so I was really excited to enjoy my first coffee outside a cafe since March. We had a cappuccino, a flat white and a slice of lemon drizzle cake which cost £7.50. Not cheap, but fair enough if everything was lovely. The flat white was small, mean really for the money and the cake was tiny. I honestly didn't know it was possible to cut cake so thinly - about 1cm thick at the thick end and not even served with a fork!! Why would you be so mean? We were trying to support our local high street business and felt like we'd had the mickey taken out of us. I thought hard about writing a review because we want our high street to thrive, but we felt cheated and wouldn't want anyone else to feel the same. We won't go back and if you treat other people like this I don't reckon they will either..

Just passing by and thought we’d have a coffee but stayed a little longer to have breakfast as well. Very friendly staff and really good food, reasonable prices too.

Unfortunately my panino was rock hard and the salad garnish very bitter. However, they do make a great coffee here. No soap in the toilet so I hope the staff responsible for preparing food have their own facilities!

We really enjoyed our meal here, I had a panni and it came with a nice mix of salad leaves, coleslaw and vegetable crisps, lovely, my son had a cream tea and throughly enjoyed it, the staff were lovely and it was very reasonably priced. Thank you.

Having travelled to Minehead on the steam railway on a very cold day we were fortunate to discover this little gem towards the top of the main street. A warm welcome followed by a lovely hot meal with some tempting homemade items on the menu. Prices very good.

A great cafe, friendly staff and great food. Dont take a dog in, the lady who owns the cafe (i think) wont get any work done LOL. We called in, in September for a snack and a cuppa, great, Gammon, egg and chips. Freshly cooked so it was hot.Very Dog Friendly. Well thats what my dog said.

We are a couple from Plymouth on holiday who found Butterflies by accident on Tues lovely place we came back Wed and are going again today why you may ask well hubby has fallen in love with the apple pie with cream /custard he really doesn't mind and I am loving the sconesService amazing very friendly and helpful staff surprisingly good prices sorry it will be our last visit this time x

Visited Butterflies today for coffee. The service was poor as people who arrived after us were served before us. When we brought this to the attention to the lady in charge, as constructive criticism, she made us feel extremely uncomfortable. We had to leave then to go to an appointment. After I asked for my money back as we had paid before having the drinks, she said in front of the other customers " I take that as you won't be coming back here again then" Had she been more polite I would not have written this bad review. A key to running a successful business is to listen to the customer and not to hold constructive criticism in contempt !!!

We've been to Butterflies twice for breakfast. Fantastic service and food - look forward to the new sausages! Tables outside are a great place to people watch. Really beautifully decorated inside so a good place to eat/drink whatever the weather. Dog friendly.

On a Sunday morning chose to pop in for a quick breakfast. Place was clean, waitress nice and welcoming. Ordered a breakfast and latte. Was well priced for location. Was all bought to table well presented. Nice ingredients. Wasn’t rushed, would return

Everything about the place was brilliant, food, service, everything. Blonde women who was working was very welcoming and was very friendly, looking forward to returning.

We were directed here when looking for an all day breakfast (from a local rather than chain business) while attending a soul Weekender at Butlins. We both greedily opted for the large breakfast, slightly bigger than us girls really needed but it was too lovely to leave any. The tea Room was lovely and the staff and other customers, a mixture of locals (with their dogs) and other Butlins escapees were all very friendly. The recommendation to eat at The Ship Aground in the evening was spot on so thank you.

I loved this place as soon as I walked in, it has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were quite friendly and helpful. We had two full breakfasts, everything was great except the sausage ( which for us makes the breakfast ) were just awful, extremely cheap, and tasted disgusting, this is a real shame because the rest of the ingredients seemed to be of good quality and presented beautifully. We will not be entirely put off by this on our next visit that way but if we do order breakfast again we will ask if we can kindly swap the sausage for some more of the delicious bacon.

Nice selection of food available. My daughter has a milk allergy and the staff were brilliant. Very tasty panini and sandwiches. Lovely renovation of the cafe, clean and great decor. Good prices too. Will happily visit again

Popped in (with woodie, my dog) got a simple cottage pie off the special board. Staff helpful and friendly, nice atmosphere. Pity didn't take cards but machine next door.

Butterflies seemed an ideal place in Minehead to grab something quick to eat before the baby woke up. The entrance was wide enough to get the pushchair through the door which was a great help. With the time being between 3pm and 4pm and there were no other customers, we made a point of checking the closing time on the door which said 5pm. We entered, found a table, took our coats off and checked the menu. Another group of customers entered and ordered drinks. I approached the till and waited 5 mins before being asked for my order. There were two members of staff, one making the drinks, the other running back an forth making a sign for the door (as it turns out). She lobbed the marker pen at the pen pot by till and missed leaving me to pick it up. As the drinks lady (who did at least say she'd be with me in a minute) took drinks to the other group, the other lady approached me asked for my order only to say they were not serving food because they had decided to close early. I am annoyed as it was apparent that we were choosing food (we chose paninis) as we read the boards outside before coming in and then spent time reading the menus when inside. I fail to see why they chose not to communicate this to us when we walked through the door. We went three doors down instead - say what you like about corporate franchises, at least they know what customer service is.

I visit most times when I’m in Minehead with my wife. Usually once or twice a fortnight.

Called in today to try somewhere new in Minehead and can't believe I haven't been here before! Cream tea to die for, service amazing and friendly staff! Will certainly be returning on my next visit.

I always like to go and eat at butterfly’s when I’m visiting minehead. The food is delicious and the staff are so friendly. I love the updated look as well! Could not recommend enough!!

What a great find in a seaside resort. Totally delicious fresh food Thai fish cakes outstandingly good. Fresh water for our little dog and attentive service. Well done and many thanks memorable lunch for all the right reasons. 😁

Worst breakfast I have ever been served.

After reading reviews here we tried here for breakfast, and were truly disappointed. The bacon was over cooked and mostly inedible.The hash browns also very crispy. The ketchup was from Lidl so not sure on the quality of the ingredients overall. The tables aren’t cleared very quickly. The cakes look really nice so perhaps we just visited on a bad day? Wished we had gone to wetherspoons and got better value for money.

This cafe has recently been updated, and looks really smart with nice tables and chairs in a good central location. Came for breakfast with the family and the food was fine, but disappointed to find it was not dog friendly. Quite misleading as the new decor has large dogs in the windows. We were so pleased to see a dog friendly cafe and were amazed to be told no dogs! Why put them in the window then?

We popped in for lunch and we weren’t disappointed. The lasagne was the best we have ever eaten and along with salad, slaw and chips, we were in a fooD coma. If you want great food, atmosphere and friendly service, you MUST eat here

This is our second weekend break in Minehead. While wondering around the shops, we stopped here for a cream tea. We were served 5 minutes after ordering. A lovely clean cafe with very polite staff. The scones are homemade and first class. Highly recommended.

Stumbled across this place whilst visiting minehead. Staff are friendly and give you a lovley welcome. It's warm and cost aswell. Reasonably priced with good selection on the menu.

First visit. Loved the owners. Great fun. Quality home made food at very reasonable prices. You know it's good when all the locals visit. Couldn't fault it. Thumbs up from us.

We ate here by accident really after an impromptu visit to the town and we were glad we did. Staff are lovely and friendly, and the food was well cooked and delicious. It's always good to find a decent full veggie breakfast.

The coffee and tea here is superb and with a slice of cake the deal is £2.95 per head. Why oh why is Costas so busy 2 doors down. your wasting your money people by not going in here. See you again when next in town. By the look of the lunches you served a couple of regulars whilst we were in, it may be a lunch next time.

Butterflies cafe delivers excellent, tasty, home cooked meals, cooked to perfection, which put the other meals we had at pubs and restaurants around Exmoor to shame. Amazing value, low costs for first class meals. The roast chicken with all the trimmings was fantastic value with perfectly cooked vegetables (unlike the white horse inn at Exford who need lessons in cooking veg) as was the chocolate fudge cake with clotted cream. Staff were very friendly and service was excellent - cannot fault anything from the food, to the service to the reasonable prices; Thanks everyone!

Often visit here when in minehead , lovely little cafe friendly service , and all meals very well priced , most things all home cooked and something for everyone on the specials board , wouldn't go anywhere else in town .

We often call in for lunch and think Butterflies is great value and serves gorgeous food. Also there is a lovely friendly ambience. We'll be back often.

Met up with friends, all tried the breakfast, which was delicious, and catered to a couple of our needs, without any problems. was tempted by the delicious looking cakes to, but unfortunately had to decline my temptations. Went to Butterflies yesterday, first time for meal since the new owners Derek & Tanya took over ..... beautiful ... I don't cook liver I hate it , so when a friend said she'd had liver in Butterflies & it was delicious I knew we had to go there ...Well what can I say my husband loved it , best liver ever ( so he reckons ) & his friend , who was with us said the same ...... I had hunters chicken which was perfect , plenty of veg & chips or potatoes which ever you wanted , well done Derek & Tanya we will be back soon for a meal .... but I'll be in for coffee in the morning as I love to meet friends there 2-4 times a week great meeting place friendly staff.... thank you all of you

We regularly visit Butterflies Cafe whilst on holiday in Minehead and noticed a difference today when we popped in for our usual coffee and scone but today we were very tempted by the home-made selections and chose the quiche and a garnish and a pasty. Great choices as they were delicious.

Wonderful as always. We have been visiting Butterflies for a few years now and every time we find its lovely people and food. We shall be visiting them again.

Three of us called in for lunch. We chose three different menus, all were served hot and tasted great. Apart from serving good value food, the staff created a very friendly atmosphere and we would recommend the Butterfly!. ( if you are a regular you get a Birthday cake FREE ! )

called in for a light lunch, with 3 grand dawts and a different food requirement for each, and the polite lady had no problem with any of them including cheese and pineapple sandwich.

Very Friendly helpful service. We had a lovely sandwich and Pasty . Then we had a lovely pudding with custard. Fantastic value.

While out doing a little shopping in The Parade we stopped at this little cafe, the staff were very friendly sandwiches were lovely. Our little dog was given a bowl of water. We would definately return.
