It's okay. There was quite a long queue to get into the buffet but that was to be expected. There were plenty of food options to choose from. I chose lasagna, veg and chips. The lasagna and chips were nice but the veg was quite hard and undercooked. There were quite a few deserts to have after woods. The custard on offer tasted very strange (as if it were dairy free!) but the cream was excellent. The crumble was okay but it didn't have much flavour to it. Overall, I had a good experience here. Will go back if it's my only option again.

Best local pub in the area and very doggie friendly. Always a top notch real ale on tap perfectly presented. Sunday lunch is excellent. Very genial and knowledgeable landlord.

SUCH A BRILLIANT FIND!! Having booked for the weekend at the Porlock Weir Hotel (equally brilliant - review to follow) we were keen to try something different - and The Bottom Ship certainly didn't disappoint us!! Friendly, attentive staff - a REALLY decent session beer (the local Otter Pale Ale) and an evening meal the hotel would have been proud of!!! THANK YOU!!!!

I have now reached the 56 year mark and after the time I have had since April I value every day far more than I did and take each day as it comes and expect to be taken as I am by others. In all my visits to Exmoor with my parents when I was growing up and when I returned back down with my lovely wife and various dogs over the years we have never been in the White Horse. As we were staying at Court Farm in Snowdrop we took the chance on a filthy night to venture in to the bar at the White Horse. I really liked the set up=looked like church or chapel pews and plenty of country pictures and items on the walls-how it should be. The gentleman serving says Mark on the receipt was a lovely gent pleasant and hosting without any airs or graces-helpful and considerate. Meal wise we had One Trout in Almonds served with new potatoes and seasonal veg well cooked and well presented and One Flat Iron Steak cooked medium which again was very well cooked and well presented. Managed one sticky toffee pudding and one raspberry brulee washed down with Guiness and Exmoor ale, the waiting staff were pleasant and effecient and the chef has an odd sense of humour but having come from that background I enjoyed that. Excellent meal in wonderful surroundings

Having eaten here before I was looking forward to the Sunday carvery. However, avoid table 15 as it’s very close to the outside doors and it’s draughty. My beef was quite chewy but worst of all, when we sat down to eat we discovered the meal was only warm. But I didn’t discover this until I’d cut all my husband’s meat up ( health issues). When the waitress returned with drinks I pointed out the problem and asked for the whole meal to be microwaved, the would have asked for money too. However it’s against health and safety apparently, though she offered to replace my husbands meal. I didn’t want to go through all that palaver and I hadn’t even mentioned my meal. We ate quickly just wanting to leave. Utterly disappointed. On paying the bill at a very busy bar I was hoping they might say “did you enjoy your meal?” But they didn’t.

Have just been to Psalters for Sunday lunch to celebrate a friends birthday. The menu had some very interesting items on it but we opted for the roast beef. Veg were served separately and were perfectly cooked.Great value at £28 for 2 courses. The staff were so helpful and attentive. I am coeliac but almost everything had a GF option. We sat in an inner courtyard for coffee afterwards which was lovely. Very interesting old pub I would highly recommend.

It was busy but I didn’t wait long to be served. Good choice of Gluten Free, but if you need it ask about availability, as some items not labelled GF. Enjoyable good quality food, served by friendly and attentive staff and volunteers. All the cakes/scones/pastry items looked homemade (I checked and they were made on the premises) for GF there is a separate area and strict protocol on preparation and display. As well as inside, there is a lovely garden seating area bordering the river. Highly recommended.
