Been difficult while on holiday in Minehead to find a decent place to eat Thursday night is pizza night at Stones Cooked fresh in a pizza oven Had one between us with a aide salad Was cooked well lovely and hot Plenty for two people And reasonably priced Staff very friendly and there was a nice atmosphere.

When half your menu is Pizza, it would be kind to say that there is no Pizza to anyone who books with you... The Burgers (only real other option) was decent enough though, especially the Asian one. Service was unprofessional and snobbish.

Really disappointed with our Sunday roast which was all very greasy and frozen rather than fresh. Shame as it was a good sized meal.

Popped in To get some food as the other place we had booked was poor it was a busy night in Minehead because the darts had come to town found a table and ordered food the food was good and the service was also good we had a few drinks in the bar and had a good evening o would 100% eat here again

I gave it a fairly good review as the food was pretty good, we popped in for the wife's birthday as the pizzas looked amazing, unfortunately they hadn't got the pizza oven working so settled for hunters chicken which was tasty. But overall disappointing a bit like Minehead in general, I guess coming out of season nearly everywhere we went it felt like you were a problem and the staff didn't really want to be bothered with you. Lesson learnt.

Lovely atmosphere, a large variety of beers and cider on tap, they have a good pool table and was not too busy when we were there. Went for lunch one day and the food was great, huge portions! Would definitely recommend

Identikit pub to the Hairy Dog, same beers, same uninterested staff and expensive beer. No food available on a Friday night. Menu seemed all basic pub grub, microwave or grill stuff. Staff had no interest in serving customers.

First time eating at stones and can confirm I will be back! Chloe and rachel were our waitresses and they couldn’t have done enough for us. I couldn’t fault the food or service one bit. I’m very impressed :)

We stayed at the stone Hotel and restaurant fir 7 nights . The room lovely and clean and the room service was excellent. Breakfast was great catering with soya milk for my wife and decaff. All was fast kind and efficient. Would most definitely come again thank you all at stone

Lovely clean and well decorated pub. This is a must if you like fresh pizza,! We ordered 2 and a portion of skin on fries. WOW we took a full one away with us! Fantastic Pizza Chef. Beer very good and staff very pleasant. Will be back.

Stopped in for a couple of drinks Thatchers Gold pint and JD Honey + Lemonade they charged £12 yea TWELVE POUNDS questioned it to total indifference AVOID THIS BAR they will rip you!!!

We had just arrived in Minehead and struggled to find a place to eat, and kind of treated this as a last resort. We found a table and were pleasantly surprised by choice of food. When ordering the bar staff were polite and efficient and friendly. The food was generous in portion size and good quality and enjoyable. We would definitely eat here again.

Ate here one evening in Aug 21. Service was good, Pizzas were amazing and the Burger one of the best I've had (Big Kahuna Burger). Price was well within what could be expected for a meal for 3 with 3 pints of cider. Would highly recommend it.

The food was a long time coming and when it did it was cold. Complained and we were asked if we wanted it warmed up (!!!) or a fresh plate of food. Opted for a fresh meal and it came back in a couple of minutes. No way was it fresh and still not hot. Left it on the table (we had paid in advance) and went and had an absolutely fantastic curry and the Taj Mahal

Ideal town location, good clean facilities, pleasant staff, good choice-competitive priced menu. Well laid out tables / seating. Competitively priced verses its competitors elsewhere in town. Relaxed atmosphere catering for all customer ages and tastes.

We booked a double room, on arrival we were given room 16. On entering the room, the double bed was pushed against the wall! This room should have been sold as a single. We went to reception and were given another room. That evening we decided to eat in the bar as we has eaten there a few years ago and pizzas were good. 4 of us wanted to eat, they had run out of chilli, pizza and fish and chips. Between us we then decided to order fish cake starter, Beef burger, veg curry and spicy chicken burger. Well the food was awful, the cheapest ever fishcakes, funny tasting burgers. We asked to see manager or the chef. The manager was too busy, we were offered a full refund without question and went elsewhere to eat. All in all a disappointing overnight stay and not worth the money. Breakfast ok but not outstanding.

OK, so first of all I admit to being a bit of a closet snob and didn’t have particularly high expectations of eating here. But I was wrong. Food was served quickly, but didn’t feel we were being rushed and it was really tasty! Good sized portions meant couldn’t finish all the main and didn’t have a dessert. Great price too, really helpful and attentive waitress: would definitely recommend!

Wow, you would think after months without income they would be welcoming and friendly. We came out to have a quiet family meal and drink. The food was nice in all fairness(kudos to the chef). Staff quite direct and rude. I feel like an inconvenience and like I'm a theif not going to pay my bill. I have spent over £80 and feel a total inconvenience in your premmisise. Thank you very much

Visited Stones on 2 consecutive evenings while staying nearby for work. COVID restrictions in place and well managed. No problem getting a table. I opted for the BBQ chicken pizza. It was ok, I'd have it again.

We'd booked a table in the "restaurant" and were shown to our table and this was where the restaurant part finished. We sat for a while looking at the menu and then realised we had to go back to the bar to order. We ordered and the restaurant part was filling up. Quite a few people came in after us. We noticed that people were being served pizzas in takeout boxes, we managed to get the attention of one of the staff and asked about this and was told that was how they were served, My husband had ordered a pizza which was £14 and they wanted him to eat it out of a box! They said they would try and find us a plate. We asked if we could speak to a manager. 45 minutes had now passed and there was no sign of our food , everyone around us had got their food. The manager came and said that were using boxes because of covid, couldn't use boards because of people handling them.We asked why we'd had to wait so long for our food when everyone else had been served and he said that they were busy doing takeaway pizza. My burger came, it was cold (the chips were hot) but i wasn't brought any cutlery or condiments - no pizza yet but we did have a plate. At this point we thought, enough is enough so we asked for our money back and left.

Visited Minehead to see Steven's Metal Heads and needed a coffee whilst we were there. Chose this venue as it looked inviting and not too busy. the coffee was excellent, the venue was clean, the staff were very pleasant and the toilets were also very clean. Price of coffee was very good indeed. Highly recommended.

We visited here during our holiday, managed to get a table without booking (others we tried were fully booked) So glad we did! Food was lovely and all freshly cooked. Staff were really friendly and kids welcome. The child's pizza was amazing! All covid measures on place and felt safe.

Visited for lunch today with our two small children. We were impressed with the decor and the initial service at the bar. We ordered food but after some time it transpired that there was a mishap meaning our order wasn’t sent to the kitchen. Mistakes I can appreciate, they happen. However, even when the manager became involved he made absolutely no effort to make reparation. There was subsequently a long delay in getting our meals and the children were becoming irritable. I asked for something to distract them, I.e colouring but due to CV-19 we were told we couldn’t have anything (I do in part understand this, but this did not make our experience any easier).When the meals eventually arrived, I asked for some children’s cutlery, but again this is something they don’t have. The adult cutlery is so large that our three year old had to eat with just a teaspoon. Overall - food and decor very good; Customer service, management and family friendliness inadequate and disappointing.

I originally tried to reserve a table for evening meal was informed I could not book however to arrive on the day to see if a table was available on a 'walk in' basisI arrived somewhat apprehensive however I need not have been a jolly Chris took my drinks order behind the bar and I enquired about a table for at some point that evening he advised to speak to his colleague and that they were very busy this particular eveningA table for 6 I thought was a tall order so late in the day none the less a table was found for my party which was great newsI ordered the pizza which was superb and huge too! The tables are set out well with pleanty of room to spreadout. The staff were very friendly and efficient. A nice place for a drink although a tad expensive.

First time ever we visited Stones. Booked a table at lunch time and had the stone baked pizzas with my family. Brilliant!! The pizzas were fab! Cooked in the big wood fired oven which we could see from our table and were delicious! Would highly recommend!

Popped in for a quick drink as we spotted an empty table in the sun outside. I had a pint and my other half had a bottle of cider (berries and cherries maybe). My pint was served as expected but the barman disappeared round the back of the bar and somehow managed to fit a pint bottle of cider plus plenty of ice into a pint glass with none left over as he didn't give me the bottle with the rest in as every other bar person always does. As my review title says he must be a magician as i've never seen this done before and I was so amazed I even forgot to ask him how he did it!!!

Ate here on a previous visit to Minehead & enjoyed it so went back for Sunday Carvery. Wow !!!!! Literally the best I’ve ever had. So much veg & extras. Potatoes to die for !!!! Everything was perfectly cooked. Definitely a ten out of ten & worth a return visit next time I’m in the area. Make sure you don’t eat anything before you go & have a long walk after !!!!

I remember this place, from many years ago, when it was The York Hotel. What they've done with it now is absolutely amazing. Obviously, renamed and vastly refurbished. The bar person looked a little concerned, as we approached the bar, because she thought we wanted food, and they'd just closed the kitchen. She was relieved when we said we were only after drinks. Very pleasant staff, and we grabbed a table by a lovely roaring fire. We could've stayed there all night, but decided it best not to, as we had to get back to our hotel. We would definitely return and try the food next time!

Fantastic Sunday carvery lunch. Beautifully cooked lean and tender meats. Today a choice of two of turkey, beef and pork. The carver recommended the beef and pork which were both excellent. A buffet of beautifully cooked vegetables and a condiment bar so one doesn’t have to deal with painfully inadequate portions of horseradish and apple sauce, and a large bucket of flavourful gravy with a ladle. Lovely baked crispy on the outside spuds; creamy leaks; cheesy cauliflower, yum. I forgot to ask for crackling, though I suspect I might not have fitted it in anyway. The decor and ambience was great too - tables not sticky! Would have been nice to have been greeted at the bar with a smile, but I did come for the food. If only there were a similar outfit in London, or at least one near me. Bravo. Delish.

Called in at 2PM the sat b4 xmas to have a drink and food- took drink to table to look at menu only then to be told they are no longer cooking!! On a Saturday afternoon?? Really if I'd known that I wouldn't of bought a drink- no cooking times etc advertised anywhere in the place including the menu- really not good enough x

Excellent carvery with choice of 4differant roasts land as much veg as you like with large Yorkshire puddings .prices very reasonable .food always hot .sitting area bright and lovely laid out .i never miss going here when visiting minehaed

I can't give a sensible rating on the food, as sadly the Chinese Buffet that I'd been looking forward to offered so little for vegetarians that it wasn't worth staying for. I'm just glad that I checked out the dishes before I handed over my £10. In fairness, the food on offer might be great for meat eaters, but I shall never know.

Nice,friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff. There is a very varied menu and the pizzas are top notch.They are freshly cooked to order and one pizza is just right for two to share.

had cheeseburger and chips , plus flavoured cider drink , chips to die for ( crisp and crunchy) possibly the best meal of my 5 day stay in minehead . downside food not available all day , missed the 2pm cut off point by 5 minutes advised to go to sister restaurant down the road ( which i didn't) . arrived at 5.20 pm first night in minehead , had to wait for restaurant to open , but due to standard of meal , didn't mind the wait

Cant fault the service and food. All good. Bar snacks are cooked well. Good choice of beer. Well pleased.

Visited for lunch on 15th August for lunch. Son was pleased with his pizza which was made and cooked right near where we were sitting. Daughter had a kids burger which was excellent as the same as an adults burger just a few less chips all for £4.50. Only criticism is the meals didn’t all come together and this was the same for other tables.

We sat out in the garden for dinner which was ok, my chips were really nice but fish could have been warmer. My daughter and partner had a pizza each which were really nice and you can see them being freshly made which is good. My husband ordered bread and butter pudding which was totally burnt, he was refunded and I didn't have to pay for my tea. Staff were fine.

Large and comfortable and clean. This is an OK place. One cask on my visit, Tribute. It's perhaps a bit corporate, but is decent enough.

The pizza oven at Stones is very impressive and the pizza is almost large enough to serve two hungry diners!! Extremely tasty and can recommend highly. A nice treat after a day walking and exploring Exmoor.

A lively pub with plenty entertainment - music. sport etc but the food is real great. Have visited couple of times over past year and each occasion experienced really good meal. Opted for liver & onions which was well cooked and presented, creamy mash and rich sauce = great. Partner had the chicken burger which was also good, well cooked chips and fresh salad. Good all round experience. Pizza are popular from wood fire = nice visit!

Decided to call in for a pint after my meal along The Avenue. Was served very quickly by the bar staff. Thought the price of the pint was a bit steep for John Smiths but it was cold and tasteful.

Good for sports but compered to Wetherspoons a bit pricey on the drinks, clean establishment and a good selection of drinks, seating outside and I've heard their pizzas are good, situated on the main "Avenue" and is very popular

I have been here a couple of times and it is a lively pub. Usually a lot of customers and busy at weekends. What is amazing is that it has its very own Pizza oven and you can watch the Pizza's being baked. Also great value for money, one Pizza was enough for the two us ! (You can also pre-order and take away) A good selection of beers and lagers all at competitive prices.

We came across Stones on our walk up the high street and looking for somewhere to eat. we noticed there were bouncers on the door but after a quick chat with them they said it was a family friendly put but did notify us that there are a few Butlins groups inside. we were lucky to find two tables free to accommodate us, food was easy to order at the bar and arrived after a short wait. The food was very tasty, big portions and exceeded our expectations. Even though there were several large party groups inside and noise was a little high there was no trouble and we enjoyed our lunch.

there is nothing better than a sunday carvary we went in the place was spotless the meal was a bit pricey for me the set up was very good the food was steaming hot there was 3 choices of meat which were nice and tender and there was plenty of vegatables to choose from but no mash or boiled potatoes and with liking veg all I got was meat a Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes so not worth the money for me never known a sunday without mash or boiled potatoes before

Oh my goodness...simply the best carvery I have ever had! This was a proper home roast. So comforting to tuck into to. I wish I could come here every Sunday! Lovely setting too....comfy & cosy.

We was in Minehead on a hen do and wanted to see the town.

We ate here as a party of 11 6 adults, 5 children having booked on a Sunday lunchtime, I was told at the time of booking that it would be busy due to an adult weekend at Butlins, no problem for us and as we had a dog with us we could sit in the conservatory.

Good choice of popular food and drinks at reasonable prices. Pizzas are a speciality with open oven. Comfortable seating and surrounds.

Popped in for a meal with family and friend and were very impressed with the menu selection. My daughter and I are very fond of scotch eggs (stay with me) and jumped at the chance to have them as a main meal with chips and salad. They were beautifully homemade and, yes, they still had a runny yolk! Absolutely fantastic! Other members of our party had equally good meals, the service was good and the meals really good value for money. I would not hesitate to return to Stones, or recommend.

Comfortable relaxing surroundings, with a good menu selection. We visited three times during our week long visit, twice for dinner and once for breakfast. All the main courses were excellent though the desserts were slightly disappointing. Overall very good and would happily visit again.

Went on the steam train to minehead with dog grandchild etc, pouring with rain ! Found this dog friendly pub. Lovely atmosphere, staff and brilliant food ! If ever down Somerset way make this your food destination.

Stones restaurant is situated on the main street in Minehead and is well placed for day trippers to the beach or shoppers in the town centre. It has a fairly large indoor seating area plus outdoor tables at the back of the restaurant. We chose to have dinner here on 9th August chiefly because it was already open when we arrived about 6.00 p.m. (some of the other adjacent restaurants didn’t open until 6.30 which was too late for us as we needed an early meal as we were going to the theatre). In common with a number of pub style restaurants one finds a table, note its number then orders food at the bar which is delivered to your table. The menu was quite large and reasonably priced. Apart from pub grub, pizzas are also available. Our meals were delivered promptly and we all enjoyed our meals. Overall, this was a pleasant dining experience.

Quick friendly service. The size of the meal was huge! very tasty. It was a very hot day but it was cool inside and comfortable. Not too noisy, despite being a Saturday.

Popped in here for lunch after arriving on the West Somerset Railway. Nice and cool interior after the heat of the day and we received good service and generous portions of pasta and pizza and Thatchers cider to wash it all down. Child's portion of spaghetti was too much for our 4 year old and would be sufficient for an adult! Would go back and would recommend others give it a try.

Became unexpectedly hot and flustered during an early morning walk along the beach so was delighted when the polite and welcoming barkeep at Stones gracefully poured me a crisp, refreshing half of Danish extra cold lager. And at only 10:00am! Bravo!

We had lunch here and it was BRILLIANT. The food was excellent, as was the service, and good value too. 100% TOP MARKS.

Me and seven other people went into minehead for the day whilst staying at butlins for an adults only weekend. The town was packed, it was so good! Stones is the first bar you get to when walking to town from butlins so ofcourse we stopped for a drink. A pint of cider cost somewhere around £4.50. (I thought this was way over priced). We managed to get a picnic bench out front. All eight of us tried our pints and was very disappointed! They all tasted very very weak, almost like they had been watered down. There was a group of men on the picnic bench behind us who we got talking to and we asked them for their opinion on the pints, there were also disappointed! They also said every one of theirs tasted watered down. We was hoping to stay at this pub for a few drinks but after our first pints we left (the group of men did also). We go to butlins for the live weekends often and will definitely not be returning here! There was a man glass collecting who we talked to about the pints being watered down, he sort of just shrugged it off, laughed and walked off.

We called in for a evening meal after a full on assault of the return journey from the Periwinkle Cafe (walking) up to Selworthy Beacon & then on to Minehead.

I live near this pub and popped in for a pint with a mate... A San Miguel and a carlsberg £8.30. The customer service was none excistent... It was like Dick turpin without his mask ,I won't be coming back.. I'd rather go up the road to wetherspoons, where at the least you'll get smiled at by the staff.. If your face fits you're looked after with a gold loyalty card with discounted prices... Everybody else gets fleeced..

Food was so nice best priced around in minehead staff well presented and the pizza garlic bread is best in town

The hotel is situated very handy for the beach and the town. It is very busy especially on a Saturday afternoon with people watching rugby and football, but the room we had was quiet, compact but very clean. The breakfast was good, the staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was not easy as there is only a small car park.

We joined friends for a birthday meal for my daughters 17th. The restaurant was a little cramped but the food was fab. Quite pricey but worth the money. Rooms available for B&B.; Central, clean and elegant.

Second visit to Stones, good ale and pizza is superb. As usual I couldn’t manage to eat it all and at winter prices of £6 , I dont think you can get better. You can take your remaining pizza away with you if you choose too. Only down side it was a little busy and had to wait a long time.

Attended on New Year's Eve, whilst the food, when we actually received it was good, the overall service was poor. We were served quite quickly but it took over 45mins for the plates to be cleared.
